[Q] Help!Played with a new HOX for about 10 mins then it powers off and cannot charge

Hi everyone, I need help with my new HOX.
I have just purchased it. After playing with it for about 10 mins, the phone turns itself off without any warning. Then I cannot power it on.
I thought it was because the phone was simply running out of battery, I plug it to the wall charger for about 15mins, however no LED was turning on.
I was so worry, any advice would be very appreciated.
I have done nothing to the phone like installing new rom. I have just set up HTC account / Dropbox account / Google accounts and messing with the HTC Skins for a while.

Did you try and push power button for 20 secs?

I've heard this happen to three people. They all owned white ones made in taiwan. Is yours white?
The 3 guys returned theirs and got a new one straight off that worked. I suggest you do the same.

Well, I ordered my HOX from an ebay seller named rose528400. My one is made in Taiwan and it is a black version. Atm, I have contacted the seller and arrange for a return. Waiting for his reply and I hope I could exchange a new working HOX. Love the phone at the first sight and this problem is SOOOO Frustrating!

Need help!!! Is my galaxy nexus dead???

hi everyone
last night i was just using my gnexus as usual, then all of a sudden the device just freezes and then proceed to emit a loud noise, like a "buuuzzz" nonstop..i coundt turn it off through the pwer button so i decided to remove the battery..reinsert it, and then can't turn it on again..
tried to conect to pc, the device is not recognized..
cant power on with the charger plugged in..tried another charger, no success
meanwhile i'm trying to put the battery on an external charger to see if its an issue with the battery itself..
i'm starting to think that my nexus is dead..
please if someone cound help me, it would be much appreciated. thx in advance!!!

So it doesn't vibrate or anything? You can't get into bootloader? No Odin?
If no, then try OMAP flashing. I never did it, so I don't quite know about it, but apparently this saved some good amount of people with the hard bricking.

Do you have the ability to give it a try with another battery?

Not in the moment, but the battery just runs fine with an external charger. But i'll try to find another one available..
The thing that really bothers me is the no response when plugged to the pc. Am i mistaken, or it should beep when connected through usb(without the battery)?
have the device for TWO months..wow...

tried to get into bootloader, again no success

I had Similar issue with another phone. It was hardware related. Were you overclocked? Running custom Rom?
Are you under warranty?

Yeah I recently had something similar happen. Taking the battery out and plugging it into the computer did the trick and it booted back up. Something to try anyway.

Never messed with the clockspeed, however yes i'm using a custom Rom. Actually i've been using this for 3 days, no problems whatsoever. until now..do u think that's the cause? The phone is literally dead by now. Thats REALLY depressing. and the loud noise when it froze before it completely stopped working.. unbelievable

thanks for the link, although nothing happens when i plug the phone to the computer.

If it's dead go ahead and exchange of in warranty. The buzzing sound is a chip frying.

So the strangest thing happened. i left the battery in the external charger for a full day..when a took it off and put it in the phone, pressed the pwr button with no sucess...nothing again...tried a couple of times..and yet nothing
five minutes later ,on a last ditch effort, pushed the pwer button once more and..FINALLY ! the thing wakes up..booted normaly, like nothing happened.
today when the battery runs out again(on about 2 %) i turned it off and connected the usb cable to charge in my work's pc..now again the same thing happens, phone is dead again. tried with 2 different cables..battery is already in the external charger, gonna try again tomorrow..
starting to think the problem is in the usb connector or the battery itself..but at least my biggest fear(fried phone) seems less likely

Yeah, this really apears to be the most logical source of the issue..such a shame, i was really having a great time with this phone.
Re-inserted the battery fully charged and it's not turning on, tried 50x times alrealdy.
gonna call samsung later and see what will unfold..i'´ll post an update as soon as this situation is sorted out.

[Q] Won't turn on, never reaches recovery/download. Suggestions?

About ten minutes into work this morning, my S3 suddenly shuts off completely. I had about 50% battery remaining;
I attempt to turn the device back on, if flashes the SAMSUNG logo, then the Galaxy S3 etc. Afterwards a Battery symbol with an exclamation point; This symbol is orange/grey .
I begin to panic at this point. I pull the battery and put it back in, trying to go into recovery mode. It only flashes the samsung logo, an this time only for 2 seconds and never gets any further.
I ask a co worker to borrow his battery (S3 too of course) and the phone boots up fine. I am somewhat relieved at this point considering it may be have been much worse.
I go to a local moblicity and buy another s3 battery(60$) at which point she says final sale no refunds etc, I don't think anything of it considering I tested it with a co workers battery.
I pop the the new battery in and it gets further than the sammy logos, to my boot animation (Liquidsmooth animation)
It gets to my homescreen, and shuts off immediately afterwards.
Now I have a new battery with a dead phone. Any suggetions?
BTW it's a model SGH-I747M (Bell) that WAS running LiquidSmooth 2.7

Try leaving it off and plugged in for a few hours to charge or charge battery in your coworkers phone. The new battery may have had a low charge

My apologies, I forgot the mention with the new battery and the device plugged in there is no red light indicator that it is being charged.
I may just leave it in to see if that does the trick I suppose??

It could be a bad charging port had that happen on my sprint s2 twice, or check for dirt/lint or corrosion in there. Try different chargers, as a test you can also take the coworkers fully charged battery and see what happens if you get the same thing try odining a stock rom something could be corrupt

I've tried three different chargers, a co workers battery as well. Nothing gets passed the Samsung logo, and even then it only blinks for a mere second.
The battery I borrowed was fully charged as well.
I can't get into download mode, so I'm really thinking this is something wrong with the hardware at this point.
I've had problems immediately after flashing a rom, but not after using one for weeks already. Seems so odd.
Anyway I appreciate your input, but I think I'll bring it by the Samsung repair shop half hour away from my place and see what they say, or want to charge me to fix it.

Try buying a jig to force download mode. If that can force dl mode, Odin to stock.

Actually no, I had flashed LiquidSmooth about two weeks prior. Which is why this somewhat leads to me it being hardware related.

I'll try to look around for a jib as that is my last option.

Well just to put this thread to rest,
A co worker of mine's wife works at a samsung repair shop
I didn't managed to get a usb jig, so I brought it down to the samsung repair shop about 40 minutes away. I explained the situation, after filling out a form left my phone with them told I would receive a call back.
So I received the call, and It turns out the "mainboard" as they put it, is no longer functioning. Usually this replacement costs what they told me around 150$ ; Which is exactly what Bell was going to charge me for a refurb.
Anyway I'll be getting back my phone next week.

HTC DOWN :(

In need of help. My M7 running Liquid Smooth 4.4.4 was running really hot today out of nowhere and getting massive battery drain. Phone ended up dieing on me as I did not have my charger on hand. When I got home and let it sit on the charger for a good hour or so I found that I am unable to turn my phone on. It simply wont power on at all. Even when on the charger and theres no charging light turning on either when plugged in. Tried other outlets and still nothing. Any input would be greatly appreciated. This is my daily and I NEED it up and running.

Sounds like it is completely dead. I suggest playing dumb and contact HTC support. If you cannot read the device neither will they when you send it in.

No, was running the latest ElietLunar kernel whithout any issue for that last month or so at least. I've never let the battery die on me though.

Hmm well. That's at least two in the last week that had the exact same thing happen.

slim chance this would work but while plugged into the PC.
Hold all 3 external buttons:
Vol +
Vol -
Power
try to hold it for about 30 to 40 sec.

Nexus 5X Bricked after Andriod 7 Update

I updated the latest OTA Android 7 last night and the phone will not turn on and my laptop does not recognise it at all.
Do I now have an expensive paper weight?
Anybody else had this?

Nothing, the phone was fully charged, the phone went to reboot after the update and it never came back, when I plug it into the supplied OEM wall charger and I get no sign of life.

So when you say "I updated the latest OTA Android 7 last night"- does that mean Google actually pushed it to you or did you sideload it?
I'm having the same issue but didn't sideload it - I was away from my phone for several hours, came back and it was dead, no boot up nothing and I have no idea why or if N was pushed to my device while I was not watching.

The ota update wont install unless you give permission to download and then restart to install...

Impossible. Hold the effin' button down until your finger turns blue. It will boot.

in the forums someone said that if nothing works then few bands pressing the power button will dry the battery out after a day. later it should work again (after some charging ofc )

OK, it was not side loaded it was OTA I gave permission and it downloaded installed rebooted and then died.
I will leave it off charge for a day or two and then give it another try,
FYI, my record for holding the buttons down so far is 2 minutes then I gave up and my fingers where blue.

Yeah I think 2 minutes is quite enough. If you just can't get the phone to turn on you only have one choice.. RMA. Sorry.

Really? When i formatted my HTC one s bootloader i tried that too.
Ej guy try to boot into LG download mode. (That shouldnt be formatted).
(Volume Up + Power wait 3 seconds then plug in power cable)

Update, I left the phone off charge for three days and then plugged it back in, it flash's red about 4/5 times and then nothing?
What does the flashing red mean, I know it mean nothing good.

My phone seems to be having the same issues yours is having. I got a notification that Android 7.0 Nougat was available, so I downloaded it. Sunday night I was playing on my phone when it froze, I turned it off and tried to restart it. It flashed the Google Splash screen and then died. Its been 3 days since my phone has worked. During this time I've tried everything I could think of to try to make it start. My computer won't even recognize the device. I get a "device descriptor request failed" notification from my computer. I called Google on Sunday and they're sending me a warranty replacement.
I tried to turn it on this morning and the LED flashed red. I'm going to charge it and see what happens. Hopefully, I can pull my pictures off of the phone before the warranty item arrives. (I'm dumb/paranoid and didn't back them up on Google Cloud. Lesson learned.)

Guys. Are we on stock recovery, bootloader & radio? If people are flashing ota's with modified recovery's, this is the problem.

wow stock phones having this? Scary.
Ive done this to myself in the past. I know people generally frown on this advice but Ive used wugfresh's tool box to pop it back to life.
Generally I plug the phone in and just fiddle with the power and refreshing the TB until something get recognized. One time I was able to get it to the bootloader than just let google do everything from there.
Scary stuff.
Are you at least seeing a backlight?
