Ok so I am having a strange touch screen issues with both mine and my wife's tab S 10.1. It started on mine several weeks ago. When using the device, the touch screen will all of a sudden stop responding. If I press the home button, the device goes to the home screen, it just does not respond to any touch. If I press the power button to put the device to sleep and push it again to turn it back on the screen is working again but it will freeze up again, sometimes in less than a minute. When it first happened I tried to do a factory reset to see if that would help and the problem actually occurred during the initial device setup then so I know it's not related to an App that I have installed. I have sent mine to Samsung now three times trying to get them to fix it. They have replaced the screen once and said that there is nothing wrong the second time (still waiting on the determination of the third time). I have tried to research the issue but have not seen anyone experiencing the same thing. I do not have the rebooting issues that others have mentioned and turning the screen off and then back on does make it work, at least temporarily. I only remember noticing it since upgrading to Android 5 so I am going to try getting the device downgraded to Android 4.4.4 to see if that helps. Wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. Samsung has basically told me if their techs say there isn't a problem they won't do anything for me.
A few people have mentioned touchscreen problems after upgrading to v5.0.2 mostly 8.4" but some 10.5" have you had any horizontal/vertical lines on the screen.

I have never noticed any lines. I have noticed after the first time at the repair center that the touch screen also seemed to be acting erratically, jumping around when trying to scroll or pan instead of having smooth motion. If I am able to get the device downgraded to KitKat and that improves things, I will just stay there until they figure out what is wrong with Lollipop.
I have stayed on kitkat because of the problems with lollipop, it`s just not worth it to me, but the majority of people don't seem to have any problems with it, I cannot see how upgrading to lollipop affects some touchscreens and not them all, but some people have reported the problem after upgrading i just don't know what to say.
It is normal for the touchscreen to behave erratic if you use it while your tablets is being charged, it is mentioned in the user manual.
I would say you have a faulty touchscreen, do you use a screen protector, have you tried the setting that increases the sensitivity of the touchscreen.
John.
I did not know about the charging item so that might explain the erratic behavior. I thought it might explain the screen locking up too but I know that has happened at times when I am not charging the device. I will be interested to see what happens this time when it comes back the third time from Samsung and whether downgrading my wife's device helps the issue on hers or whether we will need to fight with Samsung about hers as well.
For a couple months, I've had exactly the same problem on my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T807V). It comes and goes in severity; some days, I lose all touch input every 5 minutes, it seems, while other days, I can go hours without trouble. Using the device without a case seems to help, as does restarting it, at least temporarily.
I have not sent my device to Samsung, nor have I performed a factory reset. But based on your experience, I'm not sure if either option is worth it.
Hi.
I would suggest removing any screen protector and cleaning the screen looking for any damage, download a touchscreen tester app from google play and testing your screen.
After searching around i found an touchscreen recalibration app for android, but i am very wary of it being fake or causing more damage or that it is for a specific brand of phone/tablet.
EDIT: I used an hex editor, and found this text within the apk file, see photo below.
John.
Well Samsung is finally sending the device back to me. This time they said the found the problem and replaced the main board and updated the software. So we will see what happens when it gets back to me tomorrow.
For anyone who is having this problem like I did. My wife has not had problems since she stopped using the device while it was charging. I have not had problems with mine since it got back related to this but whether that was Samsung fixing the issue or the fact that I also am not using it on my charger, I do not know. So if anyone else if having the problem, try the charger thing; otherwise, you may be looking at some kind of hardware issue that Samsung will have to resolve for you.
Most devices behave erratically while being charged. My HTC does it so does my tab.
Samsung even mention it.
Hi, i am having EXACTLY the same issue. The tab toucj freezes and normalizes if i lock it and unlock it with home button. I think its a software issue.

I have two of these from Verizon (T807V) and after updating them to 5.0.2 they both have this same behavior.
Quite annoying.

Hi.
I was reading the HTC forum as i have qone of their phones, and i read that some people were using an Samsung touchscreen app to boost the touchscreen as they were having problems, the app is called "SGS Touchscreen Booster" link below, The Tab S1 has it`s own touch screen booster in the settings, maybe try that first.

That's how android works. Its pointless trying to reduce ram usage if there is still ram to spare.
Android utilises ram not wastes it.

I had multiple problems with 5.0.2, ram hogging, touchscreen problems, my solution was to root and install a custom rom 4.4.4 the tablet is so much more responsive after reverting back to kitkat. I know it's not a solution for everyone but it fixed mine (SM-T800). Just throwing it out as an option.
Used kies today to upgrade to the latest firmware but still the problem continues. I have the Samsung sm t807v Verizon locked. Is there a way I can downgrade it to kit kat? Xda experts are saying it's bootloader is locked

This is a strange one I used to have the opposite. 4.4.4 every now and then touch screen stopped responding. Pressing power resolved it.
When I upgraded to LL the problem went away.
However I mostly use custom builds. At the moment the best for me is PhoeniX ROM.
Absolutely bug free so far.
Can't say I had any issues with Ironrom either.

I'm running BlissStalk (discontinued) but I haven't had any issues with it. I was running the CM11 unofficial also without issues. But the stock 5.0.2 it had on it when I purchased it (used) had issues. All my devices eventually end up with a custom rom eventually!

I flashed stock kitkat firmware via Odin... But it is a different tablet than yours (SM-T800). I found the following thread when I was trying to do it. Just make sure you flash the firmware for your specific model.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/sm-t800-best-to-downgrade-5-0-2-to-t3069929
Bootloader unlocking
So basically searching around the internet to find a kitkat firmware for this. I think it can be downgraded but I need the stock firmware for the sm-t807v.
XDA forums have support for the other variants but for the one I have which is Verizons sm-t807v there are no STOCK firmwares anywhere.
Ashyx and steve if you know any resource, please help me out. I need to get this fixed. I don't have access to any verizon stores where I could go and get this fixed or sorted. It just me and the internet.
I have an LG G3 D855. I am not rooted or anything. The closest I have to changing the stocks on this phone is using Nova Launcher. Recently my phone has been acting up. When using apps like Clash of Clans or Snapchat, it restarts. After it restarts, i notice the battery percentage drops. This happens several times a day. What do you think might be the problem? Do you think i need to change the battery? I tried restoring to factory settings and recalibrating the battery but that doesnt seem to work. My battery usage graph shows that it dropped in percentage like a cliff. Its not a continuous line anymore. Unfortunately i cant post a screencap of it because this is a new account. I hope someone here can help me. Thank you. And im sorry if this post is lame or in a wrong section. Im new to this types of things.
How long have you had the phone for? Have you replaced the battery before?

I've had my phone for over a year now. I have not changed the battery since. Do you think that might be the issue?
Hello venztrr,
Have you found a solution for your problem? Because I have got the exact same problem as yours... It reboots every time I start Snapchat (but also with other apps) and the battery drops with around 25% each time, after the reboot it also is charging itself without being plugged in or something.
Anyone got a solution for it? I have already tried a Hard Reset and factory reset. My phone isn't rooted or something...
I have the EXACT same issue.. now it's even gotten so bad that even if it's plugged in, the phone wont work..!
gonna order a new battery now, then repost once I try it out.. otherwise I'm gonna go full ninja on this phone - root it, clean it, install all the newest/best ****, reset the **** out of it, disassemble it, THE WORKS - and ofc repost again..!
I'll be back....

So I went into mybbattery usage to check it out again and I see that at the top of my list. Tried a restart to see if that helped and srill there. Any idea what it is?
No idea. What happens when you click it? Does it give you more info?
Can't force stop or anything either.
You don't have a Gear VR do you? An update came that chewed out my battery by maxing the CPU for 6 hours but it didn't show in the stats like that. Uninstall the Oculus app and plug headset in to reinstall was solution.

I do not have any gear yet (got it with recall promotion and gets here Tuesday) and i know i also have gear vr disabled right now with my ez disabler package.
Most likely an orphaned process as it doesn't have an icon and it's not found on anyone else's device so far, so unlikely it's a system app. Can you remember when you first noticed this? can you match it to an app you installed around then?

Yesterday was the first time I had saw it. I don't remember installing any apps recently. Just a week or so ago when I got replacement and then did the restore. Went and brought that one back and got a new one and installed each app manually this time to see.

I got this a month ago on my previous note7. Couldn't find what it was so I factory reset and didnt came back since. Another idea, install gsam batt monitor, hopefully will give you more info.
I have been reading about how restoring backups in some cases creates a variety of conflicts ending in lags and battery drain, some recomend fresh installs to avoid this problems
So I got this update today and of course the "learn more" link just pointed to the 4BQA2 update, which was just the first Nougat release, which I already had.
Anyone know anything about this one? It still says Android version 7.0, and the security patch level is 2/1/17. The kernel is 3.18.31 and is dated March 13th. The full build number is NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQA4

I just got it also, claims to improve wifi. My wife and I were just discussing that the GPS has been a bit laggy lately, maybe this will help that, too.
Yep just Wi-Fi fixes. Nothing to improve battery. Fail. still 7.0.0

Checked SamMobile & Update.com & still no download link. Anyone know when or if they've released one yet?
Got it the other day as well
So far, no issues with the latest update. Still wish they'd fix the "switch keyboards" issue. Really annoying to go into the manage keyboards section and turn off all the other keyboards and leave the one on that you want to switch to. Otherwise, really happy with this. I got 20 hours on one charge and had about 27% left in battery. This was after playing games, reading email, reading news, surfing the web, texting and phone calls. I do have it on the mid-power saving mode, and I use the App Power Monitor that currently has about 89 apps flagged to be put to sleep when they're in the background. That really helps and is a built-in Greenify in Nougat. Really nice.
I wrote in another thread.
Can someone help? I just got the update to QA4,decided to go thru with the verizon wireless assistance programme via usb cable, now phone stuck on verizon screen bootloop. Any suggestions to save the day?
Update : safe mode doesnt boot up,either.
Can anyone confirm if this update fixes the Samsung calendar app from keeping the screen on when a reminder or calendar event pops up while the screen is off? This was introduced for me with the original nougat update.

Is the behavior you see?
Set screen timeout for 15 seconds. Set up a meeting in google calendar with starting in 7 minutes and reminder 5 minutes before meeting. Then wait for reminder on lock screen to pop up, don't touch anything and let screen timeout. See if screen will get activated again and go off after 2nd screen timeout.
If you get the same behavior, please report. I think there is something wrong with this as if you had a meeting reminder and the phone in you pocket, the phone battery will drain fast and phone gets hot of course.
Thanks
The behavior you described is similar except that the screen turns on for the initial reminder, then it times out and comes on again, times out and then turns on again and this is an endless cycle until I dismiss the reminder. I thought factory reset would fix it... But nope.

Oh Woops! Thanks!
Hi.
i hope i am not the only 1 whos facing slow performance since the upgrade of Oreo version.
since 8.1 the phone is really terrible.
everything takes more time than usual .
battery draining is really something you cant miss
all the phone is laggy and not function well
i tried to factory reset.
uninstall apps
clean memory
etc.
what else can i do ?
i want to fix this phone to have the option of selling it as i already bought oneplus 5t
I recently picked up a used N5X on Swappa and just upgraded to 8.1. I was starting to wonder if the battery was going bad or if it was the update because I don't think I can get 2 hrs of SOT right now....
yup i can understand that.
there is some short fix regarding the battery.
need to change the gpu renderer to opengl skia .
but the performance still bad and this config changes on each restart.
i think google is doing something to obligate people to upgrade the phone

like Apple 2.0?
Seems like what Apple did.
I spoke with Google support, they said that after the latest update we need to wait few days till all the apps are sync and phone learn it.
Sounds bull****
Cuz of it i had to buy new phone.
Can't handle with this 1 today
I'll wait, I can't keep up with those google guys launching a new phone every other day. CustomRom should be an alternative.
good idea

yup its good idea.
Same here,
unplugged this morning at 6am, now at 11am its down to 35%. terrible.
There does appear to be a problem with OPM3 (Jan 2018). The first Oreo 8.1 (OPM1, Dec 2017) was much snappier.
One fix some have tried with OPM3 is to factory reset and reinstall. Personally, it's made things a little faster, but not (subjectively) as fast as OPM1.
how can we send an email to google for checking those issues?
this is really unacceptable .
cant do normal tasks with my phone. everything is laggy.
even factory reset didnt help as after few hours its causing problem again

If you're going you go through the effort of a factory reset you can always flash the Dec factory image if you feel that runs faster on your device.

i guess i will try to flash rooted version custom rom
after another Factory reset and also root the device
the phone start to function normally.
so far i didnt face any lag or slow performance.
will give it a few days .
btw everything was synced back to the device
apps photos etc
The only problem I have is battery life. The phone is more than one years old, Accubattery says my battery holds like 1900mah, but god help if I'm using 4G, then I get like 1 SoT.
I am also experiencing lag and battery drain.
This lag also issued with the Pixel devices too. It seems in the house of google the guys not really on the top. Perhaps too much cookie around the holidays.
My phone is freezing after 8.1 update any solutions
I'm glad it's not just me. I was on the beta still and I finally flashed the latest and it's been so laggy. I wish I would have stayed on the beta at this point.
I finally fixed the performance:
reapplied OTA via adb as suggested by an google mod on their forums. First cache wipe, then adb sideload.
https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/nexus/EPF4G9IKjhY/Mrxgkx01AAAJ
so how is the new feb update? still lag/slow?
i am still on 7.1.2 because all of this, can i now update?
