Picked up my replacement Note 7 from Verizon yesterday and the first thing I noticed is the double bar code stickers on the box. The sticker underneath has the same IMEI number as the new sticker with the new little black square.
I'm thinking that Samsung had these phones already made and ready to ship to carriers when the battery fiasco came up.
I believe that Samsung pulled these "New" phones, ripped them open, exchanged batteries, covered original bar code sticker up with new "little black box" stickers and shipped to carriers as new replacements.
Don't get me wrong, the phone looks and smells new but I would consider that a refurbished phone.
I know most people won't care but I purchased a "New" phone, I don't do refurbished.
If you got the double bar code sticker, let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I just peeled back the sticker on mine and noticed these differences:
The model number changed from SMN930VZKA to SMN930VZKB
The SKU barcode changed from 887276177649 to 887276191522
The black square exists on both.
Yup I had that too, double sticker on my Black Onyx box (both stickers have a black square on them) but on my wife's Platinum Silver box it was just one sticker not two.
Mine has 2 stickers. I assume it's known these don't contain the bad batteries but were already made when they thought of the black square to mark safe ones. So they just slapped on a new sticker.
I think this is probably due to the fact that Samsung knew which one of their phones that they had in stock had the suspect battery and was able to pull those specific ones then they relabeled the others with the updated information. The reason they didn't do this with the recall was probably public relations by recalling all of them everybody feels like their phones not going to burst into flames. Even though they probably could have done a selective recall.

Do you see any evidence of this? There are two battery manufacturers for the Note 7, SDI and Amperex Technology in China. The batteries from SDI are affected by the recall, the batteries from Amperex are not (article here). It very well could be that they put the label on phones with batteries manufactured by Amperex knowing that they were fine without taking anything apart.
I bought a note 7 from verizon on 9/22 and I noticed the double sticker thing. The phone looks new but I noticed that the keyboard dictionary had an additional email address in it that I did not recognize. I am not saying my device was a returned device but I'm guessing its certainly possible.
You can download this and check. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo

Mine goes from SM930VZBA to VZBB - I'm guessing the B in place of the K (from yours) denotes Coral Blue. My SKU changes from 887276177847 on the old to 8877279191508 on the new. Old sticker has a smaller, black rectangle vs the larger black square on the new label.
It should be noted my original box has the same SKU and model number as the old sticker.
My guess is when the US gov got involved, they decided (or were told) to use new SKUs for denoting the safe/fixed models. Instead of pulling the old stickers, they just ran the boxes through the machine and had it stamp new stickers on top of them.
My phone did not have 2 labels on it. I returned my Blue one that I got with the pre order and got a Black Onyx one.

The back cover does not fit my phone (GT-N7000) properly. If you use a normal size battery (or no battery at all), the cover will fit. But once you put in the extended battery, it pivots over the battery because the space is too tight. This means that it is impossible to have both the top and bottom latches secured at the same time. The case is just about able to stay on with the side latches but it comes off very easily. As far as I'm concerned, this renders the unit unusable and I returned it.
A caption you cant see here is that there is an incorrect number of latches on the cover for the left margin. The original has 6 latches while this only had 4.
Are you sure this was for the international Note and not for the US version or something?

That's what I am going to assume as well. It seems that product was made for the I717 "North American" NOTE and not for the N7000 "International" version...
According to the listing on Amazon, it was meant for the N7000. The 'official' video also shows it fitted to a note which based on the language on screen and appearance of the lower keys, looks like the international version. If you Google the serial in the thread title, a number of sites quote the N7000 or i9200 (which I understand was the initial code for the Note)

Hmmmm... I wonder if you just got a defective unit OR perhaps they also make this product for the I717 variants and sent you the wrong one by mistake...
That could be the case but the numbers printed on the battery and on the box it arrived in pointed towards the International Note. Maybe I did get a defective one but I thought I'd warn you guys in case; don't commit to this unit unless you can test it properly.
I have had that battery for for my Note for over 5 weeks now and granted the cover is a real ***** to get on, I've had extended batteries for all different phones including Galaxy s and Galaxy sII, but this one is by far the hardest cover to get on, but once you get it on, there are no problems. Great battery life as well! I also got it off Amazon from UltimateAddons-UK.
Same Problem here,
i got my 5000mah battery from akkuking with the same cover and the same problem, i had to fix it on another way (nearly unseenable)
But the battery life is great!
Similar story
I have a similar story. I bought a 5000 mah battery+cover from a Chinese company.
The battery was OK but the back did not latch (N7000 is printed inside). I complained by email. They asked me to send pictures, then answered "Dear customer please do'nt worry, we are professionals ...".
One week after I received a new set, this time the back latches well.
Waiting for instructions from them, if they expect me to return the first set, which was shipped from Singapore.
Got The Same Batt!
I got the same CameronSino battery from zaxx wireless ebay. Its true, the cover is of bad quality, but it will fit perfectly after you figure out away on how to install the given cover. For me, like using the original cover, insert the cover from the bottom, going all the way around the edge, youll hear the usual "snap" sound. Untill you reach the end where the hole use for opening the cover located. That is the hardest part, but all you have to do just press harder. it will snap in.
Oh btw, the battery is great! last me 2 days and a few hour on one charge, if not heavyly used. In other case when i use gps and 3g data for under 10 hour, leave me with at least 45% in the afternoon, and that was on gb, i havent tried it on ics. Because my current ics with oem batt last me more than one day with normal use.
how thick?
Hey guys just curious how thick this particular battery was?
I am looking for an extended battery no thicker than 1cm
thanks!
I am from Indonesia
I really wanted this battery.
How much this battery?

Same as any skin. Remove the back from the phone. Do a test fit first to see that it fits correctly. Then apply. The best way is to line up the holes on the back and then smooth out towards the sides to remove any bubbles
Don't worry about wrinkles. Get it lined up and slapped on. Then take a blow dryer and heat it up. That makes it easy to get on straight and remove creases. It also warms up the glue and makes it takier.
I've never understood the appeal of "skins". Personally I feel you'd be better off with a "slim" case, and under most circumstances it would probably be a cheaper route.
A friend had installed a Skinomi variant on his Droid X, and recently upgraded to a S3 as well. He decided to sell off his DX to a co-worker and had one hell of a time removing the skin, which ended up practically melting to the battery door and back casing of the device.
I have one on my nexus at the moment. Considering upgrading to the s3 as soon as I can play with one.
why buy a skin, when you can buy an entire backcover?

I guess it's a case? Oh well. Too bad you can't tag a user on here to get their attention
It's a replacement back - search on eBay if you're trying to find them without trying to bug a user..... they're all over, here's the one I bought and I love it!

MUCH better than any cheap skin you're going to buy with all those awful n00b cutouts on the edges since they're assuming you don't have a heat gun to stretch it out.... by the way, I do vinyl graphics for a living, I know a thing or two about templates when compared to custom cut out vinyl and these even nicer back covers!
I have one of these and I love it. The only problem is the A and the L fell off.

You want to send me your "Y" then since all the hype I've given this thing has apparently caused it to fly off somewhere.... Haha, time to order another one and protect it with a small layer of glue!
So I got a T999 T-Mobile Galaxy S3 off Craigslist for $80 with a shattered screen (lights up and makes noise but no image). Thought I'd make a thread of my progress/observations.
First, the phone.

Guy got it for Christmas, broke three days later. Came with original box.
16 GB T999
Took the phone apart to get to screen assembly and noticed this.
I thought I'd been had, until I noticed this.
So, an i747 is just re-purposed to being a t999? I've been searching other threads to find info but haven't found any.
(Either way I use T-Mobile, so as long as it is a t999 all should be well...just thought that it odd to have an AT&T model # in a T-Mo phone.)
Can't wait to finally get a working Galaxy S3, got lucky in much the same way when I got my Galaxy S2 (i777) on the cheap by just replacing the screen (which I then sold for my Galaxy Nexus, which I sold to save up for one of these). Looks like I'll be getting to pocket a lot of that.
Exploded view, found a ribbon cable labeled GT-I9300...good to know parts are so cross-compatible on this model.
AFAIK some parts are just stamped that way.

Nope, as with any Samsung device, dis-assembly is quite straightforward. Literally a single screw holding the mobo, everything else held in place by ribbon cable tension and the adhesives holding those down. 10 screws around the outside perimeter holds all the plastic covers on.
Aside from the heavy adhesive holding my i777 S2's screen, dis-assembly was about the same simplicity...Apple devices on the other hand make you solve riddles to get them apart (not to mention multitudes of specific-sized screws).
...another reason why Samsung has my vote over Apple (had every iPhone from original to 4S...still didn't come close to my GS2/GNex).
And every one of those phones (with exception to GNex) was purchased broken...tis a sort of fun hobby

The only stickers I've seen so far are moisture indicators and like...1 strip of tape over the Wi Fi antenna cable.
Looks interesting. Had to take mine apart a little while back because my half retarded German Shepherd knocked a Coke over on it It was a pretty straightforward process, and I don't recall any warranty stickers on mine either.
Was looking to buy the Official Double Dip Flip on amazon and found that there is a new model of this case available and will be shipping on 15th.
Does anyone knows is there any difference between the new model (HC V841) and the old model (HC C841)? I was hoping that the new model is a revised version that will improved the design flaw which the original version had.

Im sure they are two different versions, just not sure what the dif actually is? :-/
I've been looking at the double dips for mine, and based on reviews think the wrap round is the way to go atm.
Flaws seem to be:
Atmospheric/rear microphone is partially blocked so calls sound muffled
Microphone at the bottom is also partially covered
The slits at the top of the case for the speakers, is not wide enough and completely blocks the notification light.
Case does not stay closed, after a while using the stand, it warps.. locking clip of some sort needed.
and these are just the ones that are repeated by different purchasers on the HTC website (dates show both C & V versions)
another issue over and above the ones mentioned above that i had was the fact the rubber texture coating to the case peeled off on the edges very quickly (within a few days) so i ended up sending it back.
Maybe the different letter means they have altered the case to fix some off the issues been mentioned.

yup! i came here to see if someone else noticed that! people were complaining about not listening to me during calls.. i though it was the phone and then i noticed the flip case was blocking the bottom mic! the fact that the notification lights are covered is simply ridiculous! where were the quality team? hope some time later a new version has a clip (magnetic or some other way) and these problems solved!
I would also like to find out if it's fixed the previous issues no one has seemed to put a comparison video or review anywhere online.

Reviving and old thread. I'm on my (cough) 4th htc one and I just bought a dd flip. My father in law has one too. Both cases are totally different. Mine is smoother and thinner. His is thicker and more leather like with way more creasing and embossed deeper. It's also slightly thicker. They must have revised them. 6 months difference in purchase date.

I too have the same case as well. I felt that it was either fake, or it was a reversion of the old one. Personally I like the old one since it's more thicker and has a better feel to it.

If anyone cares the leather like thicker one is the "V".
The thinner one with bevelled edges and smoother is the "C" and at the moment I am finding it impossible to find a black and red one.
If anyone still visits this part of xda and knows where I can find a "C" please post
Do they scratch?

Is there any way to get the Sandstone back cover replaced? I cracked mine today
TIA
I emailed OnePlus, their answer what that even though they said you'd be able to buy replacement Sandstone Black backs starting Oct. 1st, this isn't happening and there's no ETA for when they'll be available to purchase.
I also looked through eBay and AliExpress for these, seems like all the sellers are selling backs without side buttons and with no NFC support.
I also emailed OnePlus and there response was
"Please keep on following our forum, there are newest info about the back cover."
So, in short, I don't think they've got plans either way right now
Me and my gf both have been waiting for a replacement sandstone-black back cover since July(!!!!!) as they were both damaged due to their sub-par quality flip covers. I would not hold my breath for them to make them available soon....

Also no Sandstone material, So i found one on eBay it seems legit. But there are no buttons, when i contacted the buyer he stated i can use the ones now on the original cover.

Is the sandstone and white backs interchangeable?
I'm pretty sure it is. But I don't know about the unofficial ones posted above. The white back cover is inferior in term of grip and feel though.
I saved this site for future reference. Thinking a out buying the white backing and also a black just in case my original gets damaged.

Curious as well. I have mine in a Diztronic TPU case but I'd be less likely to use a case if I knew the backs were easily/cheaply replaceable.

Just be careful w/ it. Look at how it's attached to the back, if you feel confident in yourself to replace it do it, if not don't. It's not as fragile or thin as you think it is.
Just don't purposely bend / crease, fold / rip it, go under the adhesive, and then stick it onto the other back.
I haven't tried myself, but maybe applying heat with something like a blow-dryer might help it come off easily. I would be careful though, it might damage the NFC capability. Just an assumption.
