Is there a ROM or kernel which enables usb otg ethernet connection to an ethernet port for internet access?
Any of the CM ROMs support this? (As pure stock android has this feature/asix drivers)
Alternately is there a pure stock L ROM available for the One X Tegra 3?
Are you talking about reverse tethering? I've done it on 2.3 and 4.4, not sure about 5.1 though.

No, I want to use a usb ethernet adapter to connect to the LAN port of a router for internet access. I know Nexus and any device which has usb host ability and runs on pure stock android has this functionality.... any ideas?

I was wondering if defy on froyo firmware has this USB tethering by default so one can use it to connect the internet on pc using defy as modem connecting via usb cable.
The wifi hotspot work though but I'm looking at the usb tethering here.

Has anyone found the ROM or Kernel for GT-N7100, witch correctly work with USB Ethernet adapter or support CDC/RNDIS?
USB Ethernet adapter: "USB to RJ45 LAN Ethernet HUB internet Adapter for google Android Tablet pad Tab"
Support of CDC/RNDIS need for support Russian operator 4G LTE modem "Yota LU 150".
Maybe someone can send request to ROM developers to add these features to their products.

Is it possible to add a kernel driver to get an Asix AX88772 USB Ethernet adapter to work on the Nexus 7 (2013)?
Edit: the driver is already installed... the problem was with DHCP on eth0.

3g Dongle
Hello, I own one of the 16GB WIFI versions and am curious if there is a way to use a 3G dongle and an OTG cable to get internet on the tablet
"Reverse USB tethering" no root (Wired internet on PC tethered to offline Tablet)
Hi all,
I've seen lots of tethering aps that let you share your mobile device's internet connection with a PC via USB.
I'm wondering if I can do the reverse. I'd like to share the wired connection of a PC with my offline Tablet via USB (no wifi available).
Can it be done without root?
I think it is only possible with a Ethernet to micro usb

Yes it can be done. You need an OTG cable, then a supported USB to Ethernet adapter. I will not elaborate any further, this has been discussed many times in numerous forums (there is a great thread in the Nexus 7 2012 version section about what USB to Ethernet works and what does not - mind you the Apple adapter does and you can eBay it brand new for like 5$).
There is currently a bug in the Nexus 7 2013, the adapter is seen properly, but DHCP fails, and I tried manual address assignment, but DNS resolution still gives me issues. You can either get a patch for it, or wait for Google to fix it.

I can confirm it works (the mentioned Reverse USB Tethering). I set it up on Fedora 18 but only with root.
I found a USB wifi dongle that could act as an access point and run it in access point mode on my PC so my tablet can connect with wifi. No USB cables to fool with .

Hi! I've written an app for Reverse Tethering that does not need a rooted device. I've opened a dedicated thread for the app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-reversetethering-noroot-t3316716
I have gotten SideSync 3.0 to work with my desktop (running Win7) via USB3.0.
My desktop does not have Wi-Fi and is connected to the router via Ethernet. I was wondering if Side Sync could establish a connection on the Note 3 from the desktops ethernet to the Note 3's Wi-fi in the same way LG's On Screen Phone does.
Also, what is browse my mobile?
Thanks!
Scruffy,
Did you ever get an answer to this question? I also want to do this over ethernet instead of WiFi..
Unfortunately from my desktop PC SideSync works only via USB; it seems that it requires a Wi-Fi connection present on the computer where it is installed.

Correct. It uses wifi direct.

Latest version has added LAN option.
But my case is a little more complicated. I connect my computer using an Ethernet to WiFi adapter. The adapter connects to the WiFi network of my router but the computer connects to the adapter by Ethernet so still unable to use SideSync
I have already used 3 WiFi USB dongles in my computer and for some strange reason, they all stopped working after a few months of use, that's why I moved to the Ethernet to WiFi adapter.
The problem seems to be the LAN to wich my computer connects is a small LAN created by the adapter, so it is a different LAN from the one created by the router. I have no idea how to solve this.
Yes I can connect to PC without wlan installed on PC:
PC system windows 10
Connected via QR-Code
