The vs986 has a locked bootloader so there is no custom recovery possible and therefore no custom ROMs. And it is very unlikely to ever get an unlocked bootloader.
You'll have to stick with just root. Install Xposed and customize your phone as best you can.

Yes. I have one that's rooted with xposed installed and several modules. But with no unlocked bootloader there's no custom roms.

Do you mind giving me the link? Also with the newest update can this FlashFire work with it. Because the seller I always buy from always updates the phones to the newest version.

A link to what? Marshmallow update yes, nougat don't think so.

N we won't see that until next yr & they finally got root for MM gone have to update then

FlashFire link for the att lg g4...

Closest thing you can get to a ROM would be this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/development/debloated-stripped-customized-13b-t3426614
I've been running it for months with no issues.

[Q] How to root LG G3 D855 on Lollipop.

I was wondering if there was some method for rooting the LG G3 on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). I've searched far and wide on the internet but have found nothing so far. I did see that there were methods for the Nexus devices but nothing for LG.
Would like this as well. I thought I could live a while without root.. Seems like I just can't. :crying:
I think that you can find already rooted lollipop version on the forum.
For now, i nowhere found any root options.
Sent from my LG-D855
now it's impossible to root lollypop via purpledrake, ioroot or other programs but you can flash a rooted bumped rom.
I'll wait for this.
Same situation here.
Planned to use the pre-rooted lollipop but to use it you need twrp on the phone. To get twrp you need first root. So its a dead end, a points on b and b points back on a, both needing the other present first.....
Maybe if you flash an older kdz, root it with any of the previous methods, then get twrp on the phone and then flash the pre-rooted lollipop. Im just gonna wait for a lollipoproot without twrp needed.

I am on 5.0 and tried purpledrake (since i used it with 4.4.2), but it did not work, i also tried Stump and got an error too. With 5.0 the structure has changed and the methods for KK are different to Lollipop. So far, even with Nexus, the only way to root is through bootloader/kernel.
Hopefully soon we will see a method that can bypass this.
This is the method that works on the d855 by skin1980 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022

Yup, thats the reason why i downgraded it to KK. Downgrade, root and you can install rooted L.

Does that work then? I'm on Lollipop 20a on the D855. If i install the KK kdz, will it make the phone rootable again? I read something to do with the boot loader not reverting back to how it was before lollipop

Use this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
(you can flash almost any KK KDZ, v10x of course, but make sure it's for your device)
Root it with your preferred root method (i prefer Purple Drake)
BUMP it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2900614
Now you can flash the bumped roms you'll like. Just make sure, it's for your device.

[Q] D851, BUMP, TWRP, and Stock Lollipop Questions

Hello, I have the T-Mobile LG G3 D851 and I've been trying to find the best configuration. I came from a Nexus 5 that I would either run stock 5.x or CM 12. The CM12 for LG G3 is great but it doesn't have a good camera.
Anyway, I've come to enjoy the stock firmware that LG puts on these phones. So here's what I want to accomplish, however I feel I cannot find enough information to do it confidently.
I would like the have TWRP installed with Stock Lollipop 20b, with root.
Can I just bump a TWRP image and use flashify or something to flash it? or dd?
I installed the 20b KDZ and rooted using the one click method, and that's how my phone sits currently.
From what I understand I need to downgrade to do something with the boot.img so that I can manually flash 20b with a bumped recovery? I'm not sure what bump really is entirely. Do I need to bump all TWRP images that I install? If bump is required for the G3, do they not come pre bumped?
I know that my first go around, I had flashed TWRP with flashify, then installed CM12 without any issues. So I'm wondering if this is just for stock ROMs or did they do something to the boot in 20b that would stop anything from installing without being bump'd?
I also noticed most of the bump'd threads don't list the d851 so I'm wondering if T-Mobile doesn't require this?
Keep in mind I've searched and read extensively and cannot come up with a clear picture of what to do. I've become too used to Nexus devices it seems :-\

D851 has unlocked bootloader. You don't need bump. Just flash twrp via trwo manager or get the inage and use flashify.

TWRP manager for LG G3 d851?

I am a little confused on how to install TWRP for my LG G3. It seems to me that the easiest way is to use the TWRP manager app and install TWRP directly from there. Is there another method someone would like to recommend? My G3 is the T-mobile d851 rooted with lollipop (stock). Most tutorials show how to install TWRP for kit kat and I have also read that the d851 has unlocked bootloader (not sure what this means, still learning).

TWRP Manager is fine. Easy as 1-2-3. Locked bootloader (every other version G3) needs to be "bumped" (unlocked) before any modding can be done.
Happy flashing!

Bootloader Unlock Help Lg G4 H818P

Hello everyone,
I have a rooted LG G4 H818P v10k and wanted to install a recovery tool such as twrp but after digging around a little, I noticed that my bootloader is locked and LG supports unlocking the bootloader of the H815 variants only.
The part thrat confuses me is, does having a rooted device imply an unlocked bootloader and if not how can I unlock my bootloader.
How did you root it?
The lg h818p is impossible to root. You're a hero

your phone is locked for bootloader so no twrp yet.
for root you have use or someone a system.img already rooted. and replace it and phone is rooted as long as you in lollipop you can root.. so nope. you or someone just pushed the rooted . img into phone with commands. so no unlocked bootloader.

For LL you do not need an unlocked bootloader for rooting. For MM you need unlocking to root. The reason is that LL allows system modifications. MM not.

you're just kicking in to every post you find just to either useless comment or asking questions which are already answered right?
TWRP-in-FIsH seems to be useful for many ppl out there which you may not understand because you have an unlocked device.

It's all there - all you need is to 1). ensure that your current stock rom does not have an anti-rollback provision that would prevent you from downgrading from Marshmallow to Lollipop (LP). Use LGUP-NEW for the downgrade - it will throw up an error if the anti-rollback provision is in effect and 2). obtain a stock LP version for your exact phone model (and a pre-rooted version, if one is available).
I checked before I started rooting, but the software version off the pre rooted version is 10D
Mine is, 20h but I'm not sure what will it be if I downgrade to LP

You are on Marshmallow with 20h. Your software version will be 10D (Lollipop) if you use that pre-rooted kdz. It will work if it's for your exact phone model ... However ...see if you can find a 10n or higher version. The 'h' LP version for some models do not have the latest stagefright vulnerability patch, 'n' versions and higher do. You can use the Stagefright Detector app (free on Play Store) to check if the kdz you choose has the latest patch
Will it effect if I get the same model but different software version?
I tested it and it said it's not vulnerable

Refer to this thread under Proofs: [UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU
"The only device which is a real special one because of different hardware (2 SIM slots) is the H818 which can be unlocked but has issues (see above)"
This is the above:
H818 (KNOWN ISSUE: TOUCH STOPS WORKING!
To date, this has not been solved and may not ever be. If you can live with out touch (highly doubtful), then go ahead, revert back to Marshmallow and unlock your bootloader, install TWRP and install the Nougat stock rom in the Downloads section and then root ...
If not, the answer is basically No. Your alternative is to try and sell your H818P and get a G4 that can be unlocked ...
