What mean helium, hydrogen? - Xiaomi Mi Max Questions & Answers

Hello, what mean hydrogen and helium? I have xiaomi mi max 32gb, 3gb ram, 6x 1.8 snapdragon 650.

FYI -> Helium=64/128GB SD652(Octa arm Cortex 4xA72+4xA53), Hydrogen=16/32GB SD650(Hexa arm Cortex 2xA72+4xA53)

3/32 is better. Don't worry about the screen, it's good on the Mi Max.

Don't go for the 2/16 variant, it doesn't have enough RAM for multitasking on MIUI. I had a Redmi Note 3 Pro with that same config and I had to do a lot of tweaking to keep apps in memory instead of being killed all the time. I now have the 3/32 variant of the Mi Max and the extra 1 GB RAM lets me run a lot more apps and browser tabs at once.
As for the speed difference between the Snapdragon 650 on the 3/32 vs. 652 on the 3/64 and 4/128, I think it's negligible. The 652 has two more A72 cores but those can't run for long without throttling. Battery life could also be slightly better on the cheap model and app load times are very fast already. I use a 64 GB MicroSD card so the smaller internal storage doesn't bother me.
I have MiMax Prime 3gb/64gb and I recommend you to choose this version like me, it's both strong in strengths (snap 652 octacore cpu) and multitasking (3gb ram), screen is also good, better than redmi range, if your budget is good, choose max option version (4gb/128gb)!

The 652 will post higher benchmark scores but the speed difference in the real world is negligible. One more reason to go with the 650 version (Hydrogen) is easier custom ROM development as it shares common components with the Redmi Note 3 Pro. The 652 or Helium version needs more work for custom ROMs.

Nope... 652 needs just cosmetic changes to hydrogen rom... And bring the extra cores online of course... Piece of cake work...
But performance wise you are right. Worth it only if you need the extra storage.

[Kernel][LOS 16]Standard frequency/Helix Engine friendly kernel for Mi5

Default LOS kernel (also used by a lot of LOS based ROMs) underclocks the snapdragon 820 SoC for Mi 5 standard version (32GB version). Also it doesn't allow TouchBoost to be turned off. This will hurt battery life. For people who want the best of balance between CPU/GPU power and battery life, I made this kernel. It differs from LOS kernel in 3 places:
1. For 32 GB Mi5, both CPU and GPU frequencies are restored to normal snapdragon 820 setting;
2. TouchBoost can be turned off, but is leaved on by default. Applying AKT profiles or Helix Engine will turn it off for you, which also sets the power profile. There are different profiles to fit different user needs, but overall the goal is just choose the right balance between CPU/GPU power and battery life.
3. It should pass SafetyNet (with Magisk).
I know there are other kernels on XDA that does more. But I feel adding too mach features make the phone less stable. This kernel is suppose to be as stable as LOS official build. I plan to make new builds when LOS update the kernel code.

Q: On which ROM does will this kernel work?
A: All AOSP based ROMs. This includes (but is not limited to): LineageOS, Mokee, Slim, AOSP, RR, CAF.

I think so. To differentiate pro version from standard version, so more people will go for the higher model, and thus pay more. The so called "820 Lite SoC" comes after that to make business look usual.

Question Is this a good phone under 250€?

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read this!
I'm in need of a new phone like ASAP My last phone was a xiaomi redmi 10s and I was happy with it but now that xiaomi redmi 11 is out I'm thinking of buying it, is there a better one for under 250€. I basically game on my phone all the time and listen to A LOT of music but main focus is gaming like emulators and stuff like that. So can anyone help me?
P.s I'm thinking of getting the 8gb version of the phone
yes! beside x3 pro these are the best for emulators, sound is decent, screen is excellent, just don't update MIUI to 13 version, keep MIUI 12 til 13.5 release.
I'd get a Mi 10T (Snapdragon 865)
Snapdragon 870 is not overclockable so 670MHz GPU is your max
Snapdragon 865 is overclockable so you can overclock to 900MHz GPU but you'd need to get a fan to sustain that high overclock while gaming.

it is locked by Qualcomm.

Question Which mobile soc can be overclocked (cpu and gpu ) at higher frequencies and voltages than advertised ? and which devices can or can’t ?

I thought that nearly every android device that’s rooted can be overclocked using a custom kernel and app that allow it , but I found out that the poco f3 gpu can’t be overclocked and if so there is minimal improvement because of Qualcomm trust zone , I know that the sd870 is already an overclocked 865+ which in itself is an overclocked 865 and that overclocking produces more heat but I’m planning on doing a custom cooling solution for it , and I don’t even know about the cpu , I know that someone managed to overclock sd865 and beat 888 , so why isn’t it possible , is the problem with Qualcomm or Xiaomi , if it’s with Qualcomm what other mobile SOCs can be overclocked ? if it’s with Xiaomi what other devices even tablets that have sd 870 that can be overclocked ? Thank you !
when people talk about overclock, its mostly about the gpu.
The sd870's prime core of cpu is overclocked than that of the sd 865.
the gpu of the sd870 was locked by trust zone, so, it can be overclocked to a limit. (Max 683 MHz)
Some lucky guys have an unlocked sd870, where they can overclock their gpu and even reach 1000 MHz if they want.
sd865 was not locked by trust zone and thus can be overlocked up to 985 MHz
its not related to xiaomi
Keep in mind, if you do manage to overclock, it is best to have a cooler when reaching these overclock levels

ofcourse but water cooling is overkill
there are mobile fan coolers that have a thermoelectric peltier that should do the trick but make sure that it has that peltier, a normal fan wouldnt cool well
sd888 locked is better than sd870 locked
sd888 unlocked is better than sd870 unlocked
sd870 unlocked is better than sd888 locked
same with 8gen1
The only reason a locked sd870 is better than 8gen1 in prolonged gaming is because the default clocks of the 8gen1 is higher than that of the sd870, so, more heat is generated.
Most phones will start throttling at 45°C battery temperature, so, the 8gen1 will reach that temperature faster than the sd870

i hate samsung, they keep complicating things with root and bootloader. The last samsung i had was android 7.0, so, i dont know much about samsung.
i recommend an 8gb or more ram, i have a 6gb and it is starting to be more than 80% used most of the time
Ok thank you , do you have any other suggestion (tablet or smartphone) equipped with 865 that can be oc to 950 MHz

What do you think the best smartphone brand is , in terms of overclocking and 120 fps support for games even if the phone doesn’t natively support 120 fps in all games , in which brand you can unlock the fps after rooting and overclock the 865 to 950 MHz ?
best brand in general is samsung but if you want to root and overclock, definitely dont choose samsung.
The only brands i have ever tried was samsung and xiaomi (Galaxy note 5 and xiaomi poco f3)
I know that Mi10T can be overclocked to 950, idk any other phones, im not well versed in this area.
When it comes to supporting 120 fps on all apps, as long as you are rooted, any phone will do, you can just change model name or use gltools
