Weird Display Glitch after using ScreenShift - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi Guys,
I've recently installed ScreenShift (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sagar.screenshift2&hl=en_GB) on my Nexus 7 2013 to enable me to cut off bottom of the screen in landscape mode. I am planning on using the Nexus 7 and mounting it in my car but the gap that the screen needs to come through is smaller than the Nexus 7's 7" screen. After using screen shift to add a small overscan to the bottom of the screen, some apps (I believe ones made by Google are the only ones effected) have a display glitch at the bottom of them. It's like they haven't fully updated to the screen size change.
This is the hardware info app which displays the screen correctly. The extra space underneath the navigation bar is the space I have created using Screen Shift.

Clock Dim is naturally blotchy?

The attachment says it all... this is a software screenshot, and when I dim the background in the clock, it gets blotchy on the top and bottom. At first I thought it was my screen, bc its such a wide spread issue with blotches/tints/etc. But after taking a screenshot, it has became clear its not my hardware.
Anyone elses like this/is this normal?

Attachment does not say it all at all. Because it's a blue and white question mark... =/
Although your screenshot link is broken, I think I know what you're talking about. It ONLY happens to me when I have a wallpaper that is very dark in some spots. So it seems as though when it dims, the LED's just darken all the way and you get "blotches" where there are black/more than black LED's next to each other.
But lets get this out of the way now, the screenshot isn't going to show the blotches because this is a screen "issue", not a software issue.

[solved] Gmail and Calendar no longer resize correctly

Hi,
With the latest versions of Gmail and Google Calendar I have the problem that both do not resize correctly anymore. That is I cannot see the bottom line of buttons unless I flip my phone to landscape orientation.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Click to collapse
no, do you have the same problems with the new updates?
Yes still.
This is an example of Google Calendar:

Yes, I finally managed to resolve the problem by using resolution change / Density to reduce the DPI resolution from 120 (default) to 100. This caused everything to become a bit smaller and now I can see the complete interface again.
At the same time I increased the font size to large to counteract the effect.

Thin green line on right side of screen

Hi, guys. today i noticed that my P600 has got a thin vertical green line on the right side edge of screen, stretching between top and bottom. Any thing i can do ? or should i just send to repair ?
A single line of color on lcd based displays indicates a faulty connection involving the gfx output/lcd input. Thus it will almost certainly require you to send it off.
But with all things technology you should first try backing up your device and then do a factory reset to be sure.
This green line just started showing up for me this morning. Although it only appears on the lock screen, on the home screen it disappears. So not sure if it's hardware related?

So here it is. It's shows up on the lock screen but not on the home screen.

Clock disappearing and physical buttons unresponsive

I recently started noticing my Tab S 8.4 was dropping the clock from the status bar, leaving a much smaller empty space. Whenever the clock disappears, my Home, Back, and Recent Apps buttons also disappear.

In order to rid myself of the problem, I went as far as to reset my tablet and then format my SD card (twice; first I formatted it on my desktop and again upon reinserting it into my tablet). But the problem hasn't gone away.

Wow. The problem was due to a magnet. A magnet on the back of my case.
I guess this means the case that's awesome when I need a keyboard also kinda sucks when I want to use the tablet without the keyboard, since there's no way to fold it where the tablet still works properly. Bummer for me.

Screen issue: a weird halo visible mostly on white background

Hi (and Hi all, this is actually my first post though I have been following this forum for a while now), I just bought my google pixel 2 xl and despite the blue shift (I actually don't care much) I noticed a weird halo on my screen, mostly visible when I'm reading on white pages. It's very dim, but still there. It looks like an uncleaned spot on the screen and it's mostly visible when you're scrolling. I tested the screen with different colors and it's always there even if it's less visible when on very dark or colored images. I contacted Google via chat and sent'em photos with the halo (being very dim it's not easy to get it in a photo though). They said that it's a too dark photo and that they couldn't help me much rather than suggest me to do a factory reset. I did it. And it didn't work.

Anybody has ever experienced something like this?
