CWM is no more there after installing a new rom and new rom won't load. Then i have to flash the stock rom again > root it > install CWM. Again when i install any rom it would install normally but nothing gives a blank screen after reboot and the stock rom is not even there.
The situation is occurring with the following;
Phone: Sony Xperia ARC S (LT18i)
Bootloader: unlocked
Android version 2.3.4 (Build 4.0.2.A.42) -
I have made multiple attempts on installing new roms but nothing works. Every time i reboot after installation im left with a blank screen. Can anyone advise what the problem could be ?
Thanks
Did u flash the kernel for the ROM u flashed ? The ROM will not boot without its kernel.

you must be installing CWM into the system through one touch command prompt program.. as such as soon as the ROM changes and you wipe out data and cache, CWM disappears..try flashing a custom recovery kernel which are available even for stock roms.
Also follow these steps for a custom ROM (eg CM9):
download the ROM, extracted it into a folder, copy the boot.img where you can remember, then copy the original cm9 ZIP - not the extracted folder- into the root of SD..use fastboot mode of flashtools to flash the kernel boot.img which you had copied..its a recovery kernel so CWM should open..wipe out SD data..then cache..and then go into advanced option and clear dalvik..and then proceed to install zip from sd..then gapps.zip if u want..it should install fine..and then reboot.
Press Thanks if you think i was of help to you..:good:

Got it - Yes i was installing CWM within stock rom via market. though i tried to install it through adb/windows but still i guess the problem was all about not installing a custom recovery kernel.
Thanks a lot !

HI guys
Im following DT674 guide to flash cm9 on my xperia play but running into a problem the error message im getting while trying to flash cm9 is "E:Error in /sdcard.cm-9-20130120-nightly-zeusc.zip (status 7) installation aborted". i having no problems flashing files Keiran & Atariis CDMA Fix Zip and Gapps Zip file. but
When your flashing CM9 you have to be on the R800x 2.3.4 stock firmware. Then flash the CM9 kernel reboot and get into recovery and flash the Cm9 zip folder.

Hi thanks for replying
My ohone is in verizons 2.3.4 stock firmware when I'm trying to flash the cm9.zip file. Per dt674 instructions I extractef the image file.that's in the cm9 fie and flasged it to the phone prior to flashing the cm9 file so I'm.asuming that's the kernal for cm9. Can you please verify.
reply
was also wondering If I can use the flash tool to flash the. Img files or the kernal insted of using the comand prompt.
On flashtool go to fastboot mode and choose the option "select kernel to flash" and find the kernel you extracted from the cm9 zip.

I think you have to flash the stock firmware using the flash tool. and start over. my experience with my xplay is. after i load the cm9 kernel my phone does not boot at all so i have to put the phone into fastboot and start the CWM to restore the backup i made for the stock firmware. however this does not help me as well the phone does not boot. so i use the falsh tool and reflash the stock verizon 2.3.4 ftf file in order to start the phone.
Im gona try the Lupus cm9 kernel and see if i can install CM9
Hi,
My phone is rooted and the DPI was customized. I tried to manually flash the OTA but the installation got stuck so I cannot boot into Android anymore. I tried those restore tutorials but when I try to flash using fastboot I get a "FAILED (remote: Permission denied). I tried to clear the cache in the recovery and then it got also stuck and now I can't access recovery.
This is what I can read in the bootloader
---------------------------

HW_VERSION -
BOOTLOADER VERSION - unknown

I just been successful in installing TWRP recovery using the toolkit.
Edit: I installed the latest CM 13 build and it can't boot to Android. It goes straight to TWRP recovery no matter how I turn on the phone. My bootloader still looks the same.
Edit: I tried flashing a prerooted .img and stock recovery and I can go back to recovery but I still can't boot into Android or factory reset or nothing.... I'm desperate!

You may need to flash boot.img and droidboot.img for the same version of rom you flashed, ie. if you flashed 139 then you must flash the recovery, boot and droidboot images for 139...
As you found the pre-root rom files, download the whole file and flash these image files too making sure you use the right commands or you will brick your phone...
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Just remember, flashing these partitions can, potentially, brick your phone. You do this at your own risk...
Happy flashing....

Thanks for your help. I did that earlier with the latest pre-rooted OTA and now it gets stuck on the splashscreen. I tried going to recovery (stock now) and doing a factory reset after flashing system.img and it still the splashscreen after I reboot. I know the 1st boot after flahing a ROM can be long, but now it's been an hour and I'm still on the splash screen...
The only other thing I can recommend is to flash a RAW rom image. As I have never needed to do this I can't say how this works but if you do a search you should find out the procedure...
This may relock your bootloader so just be aware....
my phone c2005 all apps isn't responding after reboot and restarts automatically
my system was cm11 and removed some system apps
my custom recovery changed automatically from twrp to cwm and doesn't accept installing new rom and give error 7 and doesn't remove system or wipe data or make factory reset
when i flash twrp by flashtool gives ok and no thing changes and when flash by fast boot gives remote:command not allowed
tried to flash new ftf or new kernel but gives errror flashing .sin file
so i am stuck in this useless recovery and i dont know what to do
any help please
Previously I flashed viper 2.7.0 custom rom and now I want to back to the stock.
I've tried restore the stock rom (CID:622, ver: 1.53.708.4) via TWRP recovery and flash the stock recovery via fastboot.
Then I relocked bootloader, however there are some problem when I enter to the android system.
First I can't search Wi-Fi and keep notice "Searching for Wi-Fi networks..." but can't search any spot.
Also, I can't receive OTA update. So I've tried to copy the OTA.zip (1.21.708.4 -> 1.53.708.4) to the sd card and flash in the stock recovery but it failed for installation aborted (status 7).
It is also falied flashing the firmware.zip inside via fastboot oem ruu mode.
I stuck in this part and I can't find any solution to solve this problem. Can anyone help?:crying:
please help

You need to flash firmware. Firmware needs to be flashed twice. Also try find an unmodified system.img and boot, which you should have then restore that.
Edit: Or better yet i found an RUU you can use.remember it will erase all your data and internal storage
