Unrooted my device (ze551ml). How do I upgrade to M now? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone.
I have Zenfone 2 ze551ml (ASUS_Z00AD) for a year.
Apparently, it was rooted by the seller, I wasn't actually aware of it being rooted, acknowledged it only after I had tried to install some applications required for my job - they wouldn't install on a rooted device for security reasons. And I haven't used any benefits from my device being rooted (Are there any at all just because of the fact it is rooted?).
Later I found out that while rooted you don't really get any updates unless you manually upload them to your phone.
So several days ago I did unroot my device using "SuperSU" app. The only difference I've noticed - there is a lag spike when pressing "Home" button while in main menu - it does really annoy me, as I haven't seen this lag before, though I'm not sure if it is "unroot-related problem". Should there be any performace change since I've unrooted it?
But main question is about updates. Finally, there is a Marshmallow OS update - how do I upgrade?
I haven't got any updates since the first day of usage - I believe it is because of the root feature I had preinstalled. But now it is not rooted, and still I am not getting any updates.
I would love to "Check for updates" if there was such a feature - but in settings menu "Settings" -> "About" there is no "Check updates" function. How do I force check for updates? Will I get them automatically if I wait long enough? Or I won't since my device was sometime ago rooted in the first place?
I am sorry if the question was already mentioned here and for my bad englando.

OTA Update Disable?

I got an OTA update on my T-Mobile LG G3 about a week ago. The notification keeps coming up despite me disabling the OTA feature in the hidden menu (3845#*851#) and freezing Update Center. What is the solution to stop this notification from coming up?

I was about to ask the same question. I am on the international 855 model, I got successfully into the hidden menu, disabled OTA, and yet I keep receiving notices about an upgrade. It seems that the OTA disable does not work,
I am rooted, TWRP, on a 20F bumped lollipod.
Thanks for any info on this.
PaulCC..
may there were no update。

I'm also rooted an on TWRP. I don't know what 20F bumped lollipod means.
bump. Is there a solution for this OTA update notification?
Have you tried the app Disable Service?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
Open it
Go to System Apps
Find Google Services Framework and tap it
Uncheck "SystemUpdateService"
Restart your device.
The solution that worked for me was to also use the Disable Service app to uncheck "SystemUpdateService" under Google Play Services. After that the notification for the update went away.
This worked for me! Thank you. Hallelujah! The notification has been there for like a month. And it wasn't a normal notification. It would constantly flash and move around on my top bar. It's gone now.

[Q] The exact same OTA Updates constantly coming to my device?

I have literally said yes to updating every time it pops up. I know it's the same, because it's the same size every time (293.3 MB). Not to mention I've said "accept" every time, installed, reboots my device, then couple days later it tells me to do it again. Another thing to note are the same 3 systems apps asking to be updated (Voice Mate Speech Pack, Voice Mate, Voice Mate Engine).
Text from the update:
This update will ensure your device is working at optimal performance with the Sprint Network. The update will require that your phone is rebooted and it will not be available for emergency calls while installing the software.
My LG G3 is the Sprint variant (ls990), rooted via Stump Root and on the stock android. I have used G3 TweaksBox, as well as installed Xposed.
PM me for a link to the screenshots.
Anyone with an answer? Google only refers to Lollipop updates that are still not here anyways

You know OTA`s will only be installed when a device is unrooted and doesn`t have any system modifications. Either disable OTA notifications or flash a stock rom and have root removed or flash a custom recovery and rom.

Yaar my issue still exists its not rooted and I am using in Pakistan - also my Roaming setting crashes as soon as I open it. Would be better to root and add custom ROM to it?

System installed "Themes" is not working properly.

I bought Honor 7 last year in November and then I got an update too (675B170), my device is working perfectly fine.
I recommended honor 7 to my friend, he bought last week and to my surprise, his phone wasn't getting update.
It was stuck on 675B160. One more issue is that his phone's system installed "Themes" app is showing only stock installed themes and not showing options to install/download more themes.
Later, I found local update method on internet to update phone to 675B170, I followed the steps carefully and update was successful, but "Themes" system app remains same as before.
Themes app in my phone is giving 4 options, Featured, Top, Category, Mine and customize.
In my friend's phone, its shows Themes and customize.
Can anyone of you suggest solution for this ?
PS: I am a noob and newbie here. Please forgive mistakes If I have made some.
I had the same problem, after i've upgraded it to the latest version the app asked to read the phone's IMEI. After i allowed this permission the theme store started to work fine. My firmware upgrading route: B121>B140>B170>B180, all updates which i forced by manual method as the phone didn't find any update available here in UK. My phone is a PLK-L01, hope this can help

Can't download update for moto 360 1rst gen

Hi everyone !
First time posting on xda forums.
I bought on Friday a moto 360 1rst gen. I tryed to update it, but i have some errors messages.
Occasionally I got a notification that says "Can not download the update. The space is not sufficient to download the system update"
When I go into the settings to start the update manually, another message appears "insufficient space".
I rebooted several times the watch and uninstalled the application android wear (I also tested with an older version).
I tried this on my main phone (Note 4) and another (xperia z1 compact) but the notification and error message always appear.
When I put the watch in charge and remove it another message appears "Charge your watch to receive update MEC231". I put the watch in charge and I see the android wear application downloading something in the data options. When the watch is charged to 100% I remove it from the base to start the update but the same message appears that says charge your watch althought the watch is at 100%. I left the watch an afternoon and an evening on the base, when I removed it the message "insufficient space" appeared again in the update options.
I do not know what to do repair the problem. Could you help me please ?
OS version is 4.4.w.2, android wear 1..0.1.1526154 and google play services 8..4.89
Sorry for my english :silly:
Same things for me...
Moto 360 G1 with 2 days of life.
Same FW and Android Wear versions.
I've also tried to install an old version of Android Wear but no way to let him download the firmware.
I've also tried with an old Smartphone with 0 app (so it doesn't sync)...Same Thing
I've reset him contless times but no way.
Any suggestion is appreciated
Try updating by following this procedure:

Hi thanks for replying =)
I already done this procedure on two different phones but doesn't work :/
But to besure, when it says "delete the lastest version of Android Wear on your phone", that means uninstal android wear from the phone ?

Yes, delete the latest Wear app on phone and install older one from apkmirror.
Ok thanks^^
But that's what i've done but doesn't work.
I think i should return the watch to see what's happening.
Thanks a lot for help :good:
Think I'm on the same boat.. I tried this procedure last night a couple times with different phones and didn't seem to get it to work just keep getting the same msgs and notification saying couldn't download update not enough space. Just brought the watch last week brand new..
I've also tried different things but the problem persist.
I've also tried with a smartphone with Android 5.1 and an old Android Wear Apps (June 2015 1.1.1.....) but nothing.
Reading this post https://plus.google.com/communities...9/stream/b5bc95e0-4396-4569-b121-d88ff15986fb seems that Motorola know the issue and in few days will resolve the problem.
Not so good for a Watch with 2 days of life...
So maybe the problem will get fixed? It's annoying... I dont think I even experienced all the watches features
I think so, we just have to wait a few days...
Okay thanks for information
Hope they will fix it.
I've unpaired and reset my watch. Repaired. Now it's going to download the update.
Inexplicable... Or maybe Motorola has worked hard...
Ok i'll try the same.
Edit : Yeah it's working !!!! thx Dimoz =)
Edit 2 : I talked too fast, now i have "[public] full ota to LCA44b" error message.
Do not feel bad. I have factory reset my watch 3 times, each time, the watch will download the new update. Be at 100% battery, yet still tell me either an error has occurred or charge watch before installing (again it is at 100%). At this point, I will wait
Mine is in its box while I contemplated to return it or not so when I get home I am going to give this another try
I charged it fully and went into settings and update. And it updated. It updated to android 5.1.1 is that the most up-to-date?
Same for me, finally get updated to 5.1.1
The latest version is 6.
I'm waiting for this update.
Mine has first update to 5.1.1.
Then i've reset the device. paired and already checked for update (always under charge) and it has found the 6.0.1 update.
Update and reset. Current version 6.0.1 build MEC23I
Now, actually, is an usable smartwatch!
I will give it a chance
Same it worked out. Im very surprised but they seem to have fixed the issue for sure.

Any way to prevent forced update?

I recently downgraded my XL to 7.1.1 Factory Image. I need this version of Android, unrooted, for a specific purpose.
I didn't use the phone for a couple days, but when I turned it on now, it is upgraded to 8.1.0.
I'm surprised it did this without prompting me.
Is there a way to prevent auto updating?
Edit - Oh, derp. Just found "Automatic System Updates" in Developer Settings.
