Try a factory reset in Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory reset. It helped me, I got about 5 hours of SoT on my 550 now . If it doen't help, downgrade to LP to see if it still drain like that. In that case, you need a battery replacement

When to wipe, and what to wipe?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am assuming you wipe when switching from Sense roms to AOSP roms. But just it case, it's a good idea to wipe before each flash.
The thing I don't get is, is factory reset wipe includes battery wipe and cache wipe and dalvek cache wipe, or are they all separate?
Do I have to wipe battery stats?
Does the superwipe do the factory reset + cache + dalvik cache wipe?

Correct, but it usually isn't required to wipe between different versions of the same rom. I don't ever wipe before upgrading to a new CM7 Nightly Rom. I will, form time to time, format the cache partition.

I'm not exactly sure, but when I did a factory reset from the bootloader on my semi-bricked phone, it installed a stock rom(i think) and un-rooted the bootloader(s was turned on). I think the factory reset on CWM and 4ext just format all the partitions of the phone.
Do I have to wipe battery stats?

This is only needed if you are going to a different rom. Charge your phone to 100% but keep it in for an extra half hour, then clear battery stats, then run it all the way down without plugging it in until it auto shuts off.

I'm not sure, you might want to check the superwipe thread.
I'm fairly certain superwipe wipes everything except the SD card.

I have learned the hard way that it is never a good idea to run lithium batteries "all the way" down - that is the fastest battery killer I know.
I have researched this extensively online, and from my own experience, you won't catch my battery below 20%
perfectly accurate battery stats are not worth prematurely killing batteries!!

Not exactly.
I have run every superwipe, superwipe+, superwipe+ext4, etc, etc. that I can get my hands on, and nothing seem to erase my custom splash screen (which is a good thing)
apparently superwipe type programs must leave partition 19 alone!

why not just use 4EXT recovery? - it is better than CWM and it gives you a cool handy set of check boxes for whether you want factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe EFS, wipe battery stats etc. so you can tick as many of those as like!

Can I do "Settings>Backup & Reset>Factory Data Reset" on a rooted GNexus?

Can I do "Settings>Backup & Reset>Factory Data Reset" on a rooted GNexus?
Hi,
I'm on Stock rooted 4.2.2 Galaxy Nexus. My phone is suffering from very serious battery drain issue and I want to reset. Since I'm rooted, what will happen if I do a factory reset from Settings>Backup & Reset?
Will I actually be able to reset that way?
Will I lose my root?
Thanks for your help.
it will only erase data and all your apps. you shouldnt lose root.

So, meaning it won't delete anything in the system folder? Should I re-flash the factory image instead of doing this? Because I want to make sure my battery drain is not caused by the OTA.

correct. all it does is wipe data and everything in /sdcard/
if you want to make sure your battery drain isnt caused by something software related, i would flash factory images.

I have a locked htc one x __ j15 ... every time I made an OTA update the device start having issues including sudden crashes specifically when initiating data connection , receiving a call or using more than one app at a time.....last year when I had this Issue some guy solved it to me without unlocking the boot loader , now I made another OTA and I can't find that guy ! .....after loads of reading I found out that to solve the problem I have to get the device to stock then make the OTA normally again , can I do that without unlocking boot loader ????

Warranty Ended ..... what about the problem itself , the phone after OTA keeps crashing if I didn't recharge it to top , and the battery readings are not stable for example it can be 30% I open data then it crashes and when I turn it on I find it 17% or the opposite , sometimes after it crashes battery increases !
what should I do ?

I found that I can wipe the cache partition or wipe all data and do a factory reset ... and other options of restoring files from Internal or SD .... so I wiped the cache only and it reduced the crashes but it's still there...will a factory reset from the recovery menu solve it ?

I wiped cache made a factory reset and the problem isn't gone , but I noticed other options about updating from external storage or sd...could this be a chance to update my phone with the same version "4.20.415.3" instead of ruu ? or a chance to get my phone back to stock from these options ?

Android System using massive amount of battery

Why this is happening ?
any solution ?
Can u show me the other Stats? How much % is it using? Try a clean install with wiping all partitions.
this is happening after clean installation
Had the same issue and did a full wipe and clean install via TWRP again which fixed it. Didn't restore apps&data with Google account this time but used Titanium Backup.
i think i have to do that also... ??
