What I mean is, I'll use my phone all day and get down to like 60%. Then I plug it in for 30min or an hr with mixed use, and take the phone off the charger again (car charger) to use some more. Let's say the battery is now at 84% after being on the charger. I don't use the phone much after this charge and go to bed with about an 80% charge with the GSM radio on all night. I wake up about 6:30AM and check the battery level in the systems folder and battery status and it shows, 80%. About 10mins later, I get a notification for a task reminder. I go to dismiss it and look at battery status. The battery level is now 89%!? So now I don't know if it's actually at 89% or if it's really lower and giving a false reading. Very frustrating. Previously I had issues with the battery being drained when in flight mode on another ROM though. Just wondering if anyone else is having similar issues or if it's my battery or device.
BTW I'm now using Premium 2.0 w/o cube.
There are lots of myths regarding lithium batteries.. some say you are not supposed to overcharge it (charge it only when it's running out)
Some say it doesn't matter since lithium can be recharged as much as you want and it won't deteroriate the battery's life.
Which one? Can I recharge my Touch Pro 2 every night before I go to bed and leave it until morning? or should I do it when it's running out to preserve the battery's life?
You should keep the device on A/C power as much as possible. So, it's fine to charge daily overnight. Every once in a while, you should let the battery run all the way out before recharging. What this will do is keep your battery meter reading accurate. If you don't do this, eventually, your device will "think" it has more juice than it actually does.

Ah thanks
So to cut the story short, recharge it as much as you can and prevent the battery ever from being run out
Nahhh, not fully true. Somewhere else on the site of batteryuniversity it sais that completely discharging the battery will reset it's memmory. This is usefull after a lot of charges and discharges (in the beginning, I think they already did this (you may hope).
(the memmory helps the battery know where his power is storaged and how much power the battery has left. But doing this frequent speeds up the battery 's lenght of life
In my experience
Enjoy your device and charge battery when needed/desired
Use it normal
Batteries have a duration of 3-4 years aprox, no matter if you charge it every night or leave it till it´s empty...
When battery fails you buy another one and so on
Just my opinion,
My experience with the battery life on my touch pro 2 is that I will keep the phone usually docked in my cradle on my desk when working so it's always on charge. When I use my battery I wait till it's about 40-30% drained and will stick it on the cradle again.
When I'm in my bed ready to sleep, I use the normal charger and leave it on charge over night.
Still experimenting though.

Do you have a cradle for your Rhodium ? Where did you get it ?
Check my battery thread, it will tell you pretty much everything about li-ion batteries and taking care of them

Hmm, first of all Li-ion batteries have NO MEMORY unlike NiCd batteries. You probably refer to resetting the reading gauge - which is related to device's capability of getting accurate reading rather than battery itself. It is recommended to let the device die once a month and give it a full charge to "recalibrate" phone's battery meter (not the battery).
But you should avoid hitting 100% battery mark as well as going bellow 30% as much as possible.
from my experience as a phone shop owner and owner of many many phones i always advise my customers and friends as follows:
1st charge 10-12 hrs. allow battery to fully discharge
2nd charge at least 8 hrs
after 2nd charge you can charge and use as you want. the initial 2 charges kick start everything and starts your battery cycle on good stead
never had any complaints!
Another thing, is it bad to use your device whilst plugged in?

its ok to do that as it will run off ac power while plugged in

The battery should be as cold as possible when charged. So if you are using the phone the battery power drains and is charged at the same time. Therefore it gets warmer than without.
Best for the battery is to be charged when the device is switched off completely.
I wouldn't consider that much of a problem, because you have bought the device to use it and not to live in fear that you treat the battery right
when plugged into USB and playing a game on my TP2 I got the message the device is using too much power, and it drained the battery even though recharging via USB. No problems when using AC adapter though.
Used my XDA Orbit 2 for 2 years now, and mostly charged at free will. Battery is still fine, so no special charging rules for me...
I noticed though, that charging over USB takes quite some time while charging over AC cable is done within an hour or so. When looking at my AC it has 5 Watts of output power, while the USB only has 2.5. That would explain your issue with the battery running out even when having the USB cable plugged in.

I was just curious about what your methods are when it comes to charging your DINC. Feel free to reply with any comments, and information, (i.e. if you're using a battery other than stock, etc.)
3 batteries. Two on external charger and one in phone

Stock battery, no bump charging, less than stellar battery but I'm thinking Google music beta is the culprit.
Plugged in overnight and sometimes plugged into Car Charger.....And thank you for the charging hack, or whatever its called, that you included in your awesome Kernel Chad, because car charging wouldn't do anything before.
Plug in overnight to charge. unplug when I take my dog out fr his morning business. Plug into car charger on 20 minute drive to work. Unplug when the green light comes on. Gets me 6:30 am to anywhere between 6 and 8 at night with 50% + left when I leave work.
I keep it plugged in pretty much anytime I'm home, and always overnight...that may be too much, but I use Wireless Tether often at home, which really drains the battery. I do have a 1900mah battery from HTC Express, though. I've heard of some who have 2+ batteries that they switch out every day, but I personally don't want to constantly remove the battery cover.
plugs everywhere and charge when needed
Also once in a while it's a good idea to just turn off your Droid Inc and charge it up. You'll notice that even if while it was on it said it was full, the phone will continue to charge when you turn it off. it kinda recharges the battery to its full potential. Kinda small alternative to a batterystats.bin wipe
I charge overnight

I usually charge it overnight, but I also have two batteries, which I switch out if I forget to charge it or something.
Charge it whenever it gets low.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
i put it on the charger when i go to bed, and then take it off when i get up. last all day. battery life with incredikernel/MIUI is awesome. very rarely do i need to charge before bedtime.
If I'm not going to be too far from a charger or if I know I won't be using my phone much, I typically wait till it gets below 40% and then charge up to 60-70% or so. This is the optimal approach to extend the life of your battery. I wish there was a way to configure the voltage or percent at which you want to stop charging.
If I'm going to be away from a charger for longer period of time, I'll charge until the LED goes green. If I'm going to be away from a charger for a really long time, I'll bump charge, but I try to limit the frequency with which I do this because it shortens the life of the battery.
I am using the 2150mAh extended battery by HTC and I have recently (the last 2 days) been powering down and letting it charge over night. Thankfully, I have my DX and multimedia dock to use as my alarm clock.
Just one charge overnight and last all day

I have a 3,500mAh battery, two regular batteries and a battery charger. When my 3,500mAh battery runs out, I swap it for one of the standard batteries while it's charging.
In the school year: charge all night, take off charger at 6am, put back on charger at 11:30pmish. (I have a long day lol) CM7 and Incredikernal treats me very well. I still have about 40% batt left at the end of my day.

I generally just do a charge overnight and I can get a days worth of battery. Depending on certain things I may use my car charger when using Pandora or something but mostly my phone will last a full day. Running MIUI with incredikernel 7.06

I do a full battery charger once a day. I run unofficial 2.2 froyo rooted. I make sure the battery is less than 20% by the time I go to bed and open Battery Dr. Apk so it can wake me up when is fully charged

I had a One X that took forever to charge, based on its battery consumption. I went back to an Iphone which charged quicker and didnt use as much battery when playing music. Can someone tell me if the Optimus G charges quick? How fast does it take (wall, and computer) - I charge my components while riding a bike, so the less pedaling, the better
I don't have an exact amount of time nailed down (never timed it or anything) but I find with the wall charger it does recharge it pretty fast.
On usb however its pretty slow.. probably more than 4 hours from drained I'd imagine with USB.

I use a 1200 mA current charger and it will take about 2 hours (or few minutes more) to charge from 5% to 100%.
It's fast enough for me.
About battery drain, I have to say it'a all about your usage habbit.
After a hard reset I powered on E975 and let it standby for 45 hours.
The battery drained from 80% to 69%.
NO SIM card inserted.
GPS and Android Beam(NFC) enabled (but not active).
BUT, when you use it with screen on, the battery drains quickly.
Hope it's helpful.
Had a Nexus 4 and I did the overnight charge,
Is it the same for the 5X with the rapid charge?
Thanks
Gary
There is not a better way to do it, you can rapid-charge it overnight, during the day, in you car, every 3 minutes with 10 minute pause or whenever you would like to.
For me, I use a normal charger overnight and the rapid charger when I need juice during the day or in the car, or when i forget to plug it overnight.
I remember reading on a reputable tech site about how lithium works, you can leave it overnight with no issues but they have a specific amount of charges in them. E.g. 500 charges for a battery and a charge will be counted anytime it goes above 80% etc. After 500 times, your battery should start to see degradation.
All the above figures are made up but that was the gist of the article i read, so don't worry about leaving your phone plugged in, the os will automatically limit the charge once it reaches 100%.

Google's take on the subject:
Battery lifespan, charging & usage tips
Good charging practices and care can increase your battery's lifespan. Use the tips below to keep your battery healthy.
6 battery charging & care tips
1. Use the power adapter and charger that came with your device
Other chargers can charge slowly, not at all, or damage your device or battery.
2. Keep it cool
Avoid situations where your device can overheat. Your battery will drain much faster when it's hot, even if you're not using it, and this can even damage your battery. Keep in mind that your device warms up when it's plugged in, so try not to keep it charging all the time.
3. Don't worry about calibrating the battery
You don't need to teach your device how much capacity the battery has by going from totally charged to completely drained.
4. Keep it more than half charged
For the best battery lifespan, try to keep your battery charged above 50% as much as possible.
5. Try to charge a little at a time
Small charges throughout the day are best for battery health. Battery lifespan can suffer if it's charged from zero to full and then completely drained on a regular basis.
6. Store your device half charged
Leave the device with a half-full battery if it needs to be stored for a long time.
