CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

Install CM package
Install [optional] a Google Apps package of your choice (Open Gapps is advisable, but stock and super variants are not recommended!!!)
Important note: Gapps can only be flashed on clean installs.
Credits & collaborations:
This work is due to efforts from Mi5Devs founding members (@h2o64 and me) that did the full device bring-up. Huge thanks to @deovferreira for all the help during the kernel bring-up after source code dropped.
Thanks also to @shade.sh for publishing early beta builds.
Finally, all CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

Some notes due to recurring questions:
Using fingerprint as home button is not implemented, so please don't report it as a bug.
So, this is the one and only place I will follow to provide the support of CM for Mi 5.
To clarify, this thread was just created because today marks the day when Xiaomi released the kernel source code for Mi 5.
Finally the official Repo Builder!
Thanks for the bring up
I was trying to donate to you, but PayPal gives me error. I will try later. By the way thanks, really thanks.

Guys .. What's the differences between this build and the previous build which is based on CM tree?!
Note, we hope to see from you port/different ROM soon.
Thanks.
@droid.riz Thanks for holding our hands up until this moment. Mi5 wouldn't have been as smooth an experience if not for you. Except for crappy speeds by BSNL, which you're not responsible for anyway... Cheers!

You mentioned the wrong person.
No no.
@bgcngm You're the one who's holding the entire fort together. Maintaining the device tree AND building TWRP for a closed kernel device? Kudos to you, man. I was just glad that the RR ROM helped bridge the gap between buying the device and having official custom ROMs. Because there was no way in hell I'd have stayed with the Chinese MIUI. (Shudders)

RR ROM would never be a possibility if it wasn't Mi5Devs, I hope you know that. Case closed. This is CM support thread and nothing else.
@bgcngm Absolutely. There's no custom ROM without the device tree. :good:
Hey man, sorry if I offended you...
This is a great day bgcngm, thank you again.

That's because I don't consider it is *broken*. It's something that will be added in time, I didn't forget it.

I would say yes, until builds start to come out from CM build servers. In other words, it is unofficial until it becomes official.
@bgcngm See my question about kernel sources and overclocking was not that dumb as it turned out ^^
Anyway huge thanks to bgcngm and shade for making this device even better than it hopefully will be (yes I informed me about costum roms before i bought the phone ).

Tried clean flash of jfltexx cm12 to 9505G. Using twrp 2.8.3.0 for jgedlte, ext4. Getting "E: error executing binary updater in zip" then "E: unable to mount /system." CM11 was able to flash jfltexx to jgedlte, guess this isn't true for CM12?

The Kernel:
I think that a part for this is needed. This Kernel, that took us months of work, is a project by me and @faizauthar12 that aims porting the z2 kernel the nearest possible to the CAF kernel without any useless edit from ZUK itself. Because of that lots of ZUK edits aren't there at all in this kernel and the dtsi are done more ordinately.

There is no need to fight here. My work is open source and everyone is free to make use of my commits. @althafvly is a friend of mine, and the trees he used are his own, with help from the community, including some of my commits. Asim has done great work in keeping the Motorola msm8916 family going with new versions of Android while I've been busy with other things.
We may have different approaches, and different standards and practices for official LineageOS trees, but I fully respect the work of Asim.

Thanks brother for your support. For others, I respect all devs who helped me in developing for msm8916 family. I did used squid's commits and my commits for the development of los16 . i thank squid for recent updates for lux. I don't even have a lux, so it was really helpful .im just compiling rom for lux because i saw lux people are not having a fully working lineage oreo or pie build.
If no one want any build from me then, feel free to say

Hey, I partly agreed with @methuselah because I kinda missed the coloborator/thanks section... But other than that, there's nothing wrong, as @squid2 said, it's open source.
So please, keep the "make" up mate! :highfive:
@althafvly,
I have not tried the Pie Rom yet, but I think you are doing a great job! I use the oreo rom of you and am very excited. Please keep it up. Many thanks for your effort
Definitely don't stop, it is awesome to have a pie build for lux- there is almost no dev keeping this branch alive, you are most welcome!
Internet connection does not work with data packets.
I'm not getting impatient, I just let you know. I'll be wait, you're welcome. [/CENTER]

Hey ,
Welcome to the goodness of Pie This topic will be dedicated to our bring up of Pie for Moto X play
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9.0 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

I have two moto x play and I test this rom. There are a lot of bug again but you did a really good job to have android 9.0.
If you want it's possible for me for help in the development of this rom with my second moto x play. But i don't understand anything in development language. It's possible for me to give the logs if you explain me how.
The install open gapps android 9.0 no works fine for me. The phone crah after start
seems to run clean and fast for what it does, nicely done.

there is a small error . /setup/android_build_env.sh should be . /setup/android_build_env.sh
i know it seems petty to bring it up, but .......
Once past that, and everything is installed, the "brunch lux" starts, with a few warnings, but carries on, i guess now I have to start learning loads of stuff
failed, after long hours, with "ninja failed with: exit status 1
seems I need to install m4 and ninja build, still failed with ninja failed, So i deleted everything and started again with m4, ninja-build, updated etc running brunch lux again.
Its only when one starts playing with these builds that one truly realises the work the devs put in, to keeping our stuff working, my admiration grows.

I wiped all: System, Vendor, Cache and Data.
First time TWRP wont find the cache partition probably as it is remapped so it will throw an error but from the next instances, it shall continue normally.

MoKee Open Source is the biggest non-profit Android Open Source development team in China, with members from all parts of the world. We follow the latest development from Google closely and improve various parts of Android according to the user habits. Being a non-profit organisation, we utilise our spare time and own funds to keep this passion alive. Therefore, the costs for the forum and servers are solely beared by us. In order to provide a good user experience, we only included a few preinstalls in the ROM. Along with the advertisements in the forum; we hardly get enough to pay for the bandwidth. The point is, those are our only source of income, however many developers choose to exclude them when releasing unofficial builds. Unlike CyanogenMod, we did not accept monetary help at the early stages, as in China, most people do not understand the meaning of “making a donation”. They would think of it as buying a service, which is conflicting with our objectives. Anyways, we still made it until today, and even started to provide third party developers a chance to utilise our OTA system. All of these are the fruit of our hard work and passion. We are proud of the happy users, and we are also proud of the support given to MoKee Open Source. Most importantly, we are proud of the improvements we have achieved all these while, and the advancements never stop.

Hi, @harshavardhanmehrotra
How is the audio? Please if you really matter my opinion once pls checkout Resurrection Remix OFFICIAL (April 5 2019) build. It has awesome audio quality derived from Cyanogen Mod time (AUDIOFX ) but some reason they took the functionality in the next update.
And I really miss the audio quality and couldn't find it on any other custom ROMs.
I recommend you to personally try it out and try implementing it in the awsum ROM developed by yourself.
And if possible make a zip file installer for any Custom ROM it helps many of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 users a lot.

Why did you buy the incremental update it is only for official versions of mokee and this is an unofficial version I have provided only one update because I am not getting enough time to work on it. Don't blame mokee developers for my fault they have nothing to do with this as stated "this is an unofficial version "
