Bluetooth disconnection problem after a few seconds
Hello, I have a problem when I connect my Galaxy Note 7 on my car (french Renault Espace). The connection will start, but after a few seconds the téléphonne disconnects and reconnects.
It is therefore impossible to use the Bluetooth phone or audio.
I had no problem with my Galaxy Note 3.
I tried several times to redo the pairing but in vain.
Works fine on my car (toyo camry), as good as previously N3 also.
if all fails I would factory reset.
In my Ford, it frequently does this once, but is stable after it reconnects. Suggest you make sure your Renault has all available updates applied, but I do think there are a couple issues with the Note 7 Bluetooth stack.

The problem worries me a lot because, since it is not clear whether the update
must be performed on the car or on the phone.
In both cases, it will require a firmware update which could be long. If not, never happen.
I hope to find a workaround.
I have the same problem with a Parrot car kit, I have looked all over Google to find an answer to fix it, the only thing I have narrowed it down to is the smart connect. I'm going to try one of the roms to see if that sorts it out.

Hey guys,
I'm having some pretty bad bluetooth issues, and my searches haven't really found a solution. When I attempt to connect my phone to my car headunit, my headunit shows it's connected and my phone also shows connected. But the audio still comes out of the phone speaker. After a few minutes it will disconnect and reconnect a few times, sometimes only showing headset connected and not media. Eventually the bluetooth just locks up saying "connecting...". If I turn off bluetooth on my phone, the stereo still shows it is connected to a bluetooth device. I tried to "forget" my device and re-paired, and the process seems fine except the phone never asks if I want to share my phonebook, so I assume something behind the scenes is already broken at that point.
This is a very new problem for me, and my bluetooth was working fine with this headunit for months now using numerous different ROMs from GB to JB. I was on AOKP JB build 1 when this started. I tried a full wipe and reflashed the ROM and still had the problem. I have tested this on about five other ICS and JB ROMs and am currently on CM9.1 and the problem is continuing. I also tried a different phone to make sure the problem wasn't my headunit and the other phone worked as expected.
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have any direction for me to fix this? Thanks!
I have a similar problem with aokp jb, when it wasn't present before. The head unit shows my phone audio connects but the media audio does not connect sometimes. I would have to reboot my phone or fully disconnect my phone from the head unit and pair them again.. no real solution but it is slight work around and to say that you're not alone

Thanks. I've had to reboot or re-pair in the past every once in awhile, but neither rebooting or re-pairing is fixing the connection anymore. Anyone else had this problem? Are know if there is some sort of log I can find on my phone that might give some clues to why this is happening?
Problem Solved....
I tried my phone in a different vehicle, with a different headunit. No problems at all. I went through my head unit menus and found an option to clear all bluetooth data. I assume this clears all paired device information from the headunit. Everything works perfect now. Phone pairs fast, stays connected, and all functions are perfect. I hope this helps someone at some point.
Got my AT&T Galaxy Note II. Have left the ROM, bootloader, etc. all stock.
Where my Galaxy Nexus would have trouble uploading my phonebook to my 2012 Honda CR-V car stereo without Navigation system, the Note II seems to pair without issue.
HOWEVER, if the phone is unplugged from power... about once every two minutes it drops the BT connection from the car stereo, and about 20 seconds later reconnects. I say if unplugged, because if I plug the phone into a cigarette lighter charger, the BT seems to stay up and stable.
I figure this could be a BT timeout issue, or perhaps some power setting we could adjust? I have disabled the power management functions on the Note 2, but that has not prevented the issue from occurring.
I also have a Sony SmartWatch that I have paired to the phone. The watch doesn't have any issues, but whether I have the watch on or off, I see the same functionality between the phone and the stock car deck.
I'm having the exact same problem, I thought it was an issue with my vehicle's Bluetooth antenna.
I tried calling Samsung about this issue and they were, as expected, pretty unhelpful.
I'm having a similar problem with my Ford Sync Bluetooth connection. Except I'm only using battery power.. The first time I connect for the day, all seems fine. Any subsequent connections during that day are problematic with connect failures or random disconnections.. Must be a gnote2 bug as my gnote1 (stock ROM) worked perfectly in my car.
As soon as I read this, I began to wonder if my issue is somehow related.

same problem here with SGN2 and Veloster...I lose my connection after a few minutes. Before with my HTC, I had no problem .
BT works fine for me in my MDX stereo and on my BlueAnt device. I don't have to plug it in or anything... just turn it on, pair it and go.
My note 2 is bone stock - just rooted so I can use Titanium Backup.
Has anyone encountered issues with connecting with a car bluetooth? My wife phone conntects with no issues.. She can use the cars remotes to make and receive calls.. Mine I have to pick a contact from the phone for it to work, it will not work with the car or my work truck controls.. It seems everytime it ask if my car or truck can access my contacts, I always choose allow, but nothing happens, but it works with the wifes.. This is with the Lollipop update, that we both have...
happened to me I just rebooted my phone and it connected, also check settings for that paired device

Got one to work, in my truck.. The car it worked for a while, then quit.. I will try it agian to see if it will stcik... Most likely caused by the 5.0 update..
I've noticed a Bluetooth problem that suddenly started in the last week or so. I upgraded to Lollipop when it first hit, and didn't have any problems.
Now, however, after Bluetooth works fine for awhile (I can connect to a Pebble watch, Bluetooth speaker, car Bluetooth, etc) all day long - then all of a sudden it can't connect to ANYTHING. Toggling Bluetooth off\on doesn't fix it.
Restart the phone, then everything works just fine for awhile. Until it doesn't, and I have to restart again.
Anyone else experiencing this pattern?
I've actually had the opposite happen. I have a iSimple bluetooth box in my car. I've never been able to auto connect with either VZW Note2 or 4. The CS rep told me it had to do only with VZW phones and he couldn't help me out. On another forum, another member mentioned he didn't have any issues with his older phone, so I dug out my old HTC Incredible. Sure enough, it would auto connect. Something changed with Lollipop, and now my Note4 will finally auto connect to the iSimple box. I tried using a third party Bluetooth app prior, but it didn't fix the problem.
Finally got the one in the car working as well... Because the wife and I have the same phone, I just simply changed the name of my phone and it works fine..
If your talking about the developer edition one rom update.. YES.. What fixed mine was wiping everything and redoing the one rom lollipop, then twrp, then installing Ricks Rom Lollipop, things have been perfect. I even addressed it in the ricks rom thread the week.
I haven't had any issues connecting devices but since Lollipop, when I am connected to a bluetooth speaker (car, bose, other bluetooth speakers) the audio gets choppy randomly.
I have done some searching and found others (LG g3) who had the exact same issue after updating to Lollipop.
I have tried rebooting, using different music apps, unpairing/pairing, forgetting the device ect and nothing seems to work. Anyone else having this problem after updating to lollipop? Anyone know how to fix it?
Is anyone else having issues syncing to your car? Mine connects for 5 seconds and then flashes phone not detected on my phone screen and disconnects. I am running the deluxe standard model, not the special edition. I have checked the easy stuff like making sure Bluetooth is enabled and successful pairing. I can connect to Bluetooth speakers no problem. My Google music app also froze and could not be recovered by powering off or closing apps. I had to uninstall and reinstall. Let me know if anyone has had a similar issue and hire or if you fixed it.
I listen to music in my car via A2DP/BT Audio & have no issues with either listening, or controlling (fwd, rewind, etc...) music apps like VLC via the car controls.
no problem pairing with my car, mobile, music etc etc.

2 ppl confirmed properly working BT;
1: make sure you're on the latest firmware
2: close any other apps which might be using BT (do you have other BT devices on you? They might be conflicting)
3: make sure your music app is whitelisted in battery optimization options
4: try other music apps, like VLC
5: choose balanced power management
6: factory reset & try BT audio as the 1st thing after a fresh boot; this should help you isolate the issue.

I have the same issue sometimes. My Honda Accord had no issues pairing to my Note 7, and connected to it perfectly every time. The car also initially paired quickly to the ZF3D, but when I get in the car I have to manually select the car in the Bluetooth menu. If I try waiting, it will either never connect, or flash like yours. connect for a second then lose connection.
either way, manually selecting it makes the phone keep its connection throughout the entire drive.
Hope it helps!

Thanks all, I tried all of the tips above to no effect. Manually selecting still drops within 5 seconds. Tonight I will try it in a different car to rule out a compatibility issue with mine. I aIso downloaded VLC and made sure everything was white listed. Phone reset had the same issue with no apps installed. My old Note 4 pairs just fine and stays connected. The Buick Bluetooth (2012) system isn't the most up to date either and has limited capability (phone only, no music) so it may be a car issue.
Thanks,
Eric

It is a car compatibility issue. It works fine in other cars apparently just not older Buicks. Thanks for the assistance everyone.

I was never able to pair it with my vehicle even after a reset. It works fine with my other car, and it works fine with everything else I have tried.

I am finding that auto connecting to BT in the car and on my Gear S3 is hit and miss, however i have had no issues when doing it manually, but it is a pain in the ass. hopefully ASUS will fix this when they release the nougat update!
My Zenfone 3 will pair with the car and a number comes up that I have to type into the phone but the keypad flashes up on the phone for 1 second and then disappears too quickly to enter it. I have tryed it about 10 times and always the same result. Anyone have any idears on how to fix it.
Hi all,
Has anyone experienced any weird Bluetooth issues after installing the latest May OTA update (OPM1.171019.011-RZR-180509.5038)? I've realized that the BT controls on my 2015 Nissan Sentra no longer work properly. It doesn't automatically connect to BT anymore and no track information shows on the head-unit. The weird thing is that I CAN get music to play, at least.
I just wanted to know if I happened to be losing my mind after numerous reboots and re-pairing between the car and the phone.
Same for me. I can delete it. Pair it again and it works. Next time I get in the car it won't reconnect.. worked fine before the update at the weekend.

It's a fire an miss actually. Sometimes it reconnects automatically with the car's unit (alpine aftermarket) and sometimes it doesn't. I had noticed that if I get in the car for the 1st time today (for ex), it won't reconnect back and i have to cycle around the input in order to "kickstart" the reconnecting process. If I make a stop along the way, stop the car, get out (thus interrupting the connection) and getting back after a while, it will reconnect automatically without any issues. I'm not even taking it out of my pocket. But this scenario is happening since day one, not necessarily from the last update.
On the other hand, I got a smartband (coincidentally after the last update) and now, while the smartband is connected via BT, when I turn on my BT wireless headphone adapter, it won't re-connect anymore (simultaneously with the smartband) and if it does, it's without media playback. As a workaround, I have to 1st turn off the smartband, clear the BT of any active connection (And also any other device with media playback capabilities), turn on the BT adapter so it will connect full, then turn the smartband back on. And not always works like this.
So, I do have on an off issues with the BT stability and connections with various devices, not just car unit.
Strangely though my smart watch connects no problem and the stereo in my motorhome was connecting at the weekend. It's just the car ( a Vauxhall Astra) that refuses to connect unless I delete and re pair....

I can't get music to play with Spotify or YouTube. The phone connects fine, shows song info but just won't play no matter what I try.
The weird thing is that calls work perfectly. Sound through car speakers and mic works. Just doesn't want to play music.
I've tried unpairing, re-pairing, deleting, even factory reset on both phone and stereo. Worked fine before the 8.1 Oreo update. (I'm on 3 UK handset).
Im having issues as well, it will connect the first time when I manually connect the phone and stereo to MyLink. It will say connected but (No Media) so i try to pair the media and it disconnects my phone from BT and then i have to delete device and re connect device manually. As well if i leave the vehicle or turn it off then it will disconnect. Not just my vehicle but the other showroom vehicles do that as well. Can someone let me know if there is a bluetooth upgrade or a firmware upgrade that can fix this problem? is there anything that we can do for this let me know. Thanks!!
I am having the same issue in my bmw.
I can delete the phone and re-pair... But it sucks having to do that every thing.
also having issues as well. It connects to my headphones and the after market HU in my truck but it will not connect at all to the factory HU in Genesis Coupe. I have tried to delete and re pair and still nothing.
So currently it all works for me with the latest update. It definitely takes a little bit longer than normal though. Not sure how long some of you waited, but compared to my old phones it feels like an eternity during the time it doesn't connect. I also use a smartwatch and it is always connected to that. If you guys need or want any files, let me know. I'm currently waiting for a usb-c to usb-a cable in the mail, so once that is here I can try to help.
I think this is all more of an Android issue. I was having most of the exact same issues mentioned here on my LG V20 on Oreo.
I just for a Razer Phone 1 off eBay this week. I did the Pie update and within a day, the bluetooth issues have returned. Sometimes phone won't connect to car stereo - sometimes reboot stereo, sometimes toggle phone bluetooth off/on, or sometimes just wait 10-30 seconds. Doing the same showing info on car stereo display, but no audio transmitted. I also had similar issues using a OnePlus 3 with both Dirty Unicorns and Resurrection Remix Pie ROMs. I was beginning to think it was my car stereo until I read the comments on this thread. Seeing so many others having the exact same issues on factory and aftermarket stereos (mine is an aftermarket), and knowing it's happening on different devices and both Oreo and Pie , I'm thinking it's an Android 8 and 9 issue.
