Camera type - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Since Samsung has a history of mixing camera modules (Sony and ISOCELL) in their phones, I was wondering if everyone's Note 7 has the same one. Mine is the Sony IMX260. I had the Samsung ISOCELL in my previous S7 Edge, and it took great pics. This Note 7 beats it.
You can check it using either AIDA64 or Samsung Phone Info apps.

S6 Camera Port and Swap

Couple quick concepts I'm confused about followed by an idea.
I want to install an S6 edge camera sensor into my Note 4.
I understand we don't have permanent root access on the note 4 because the bootloader is locked.
There is a developer version of the note 4 that can be purchased for a different price. Is it possible to turn a retail phone into a developer edition phone by flashing something?
Can I use the kingroot superSU method to get temporary root access?
Using the temporary root access can I port the Galaxy S6 camera application to my note 4? I read the porting thread here, but wasn't sure if it was only for developer phones or tmobile rooted phones.
Replacement S6 edge camera sensor: New users can't post links
Can I open my phone and replace the note 4 camera sensor with the S6 camera sensor? Using the S6 edge camera sensor, will it be fully functional and effectively "driven" by the ported S6 camera app? In my mind the camera app is the "driver" and I liken this to flashing a nvidia gaming GPU to think it's a workstation GPU and installing workstation drivers to gain new features. Is that a good way of understanding this?
Source: New users can't post links
"The Galaxy S6 edge uses the same 16MP image sensor as the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, the Sony IMX240. The S6 edge upgrades the rest of the camera hardware with a new lens, which has an f/1.9 aperture. This lets 34% more light in than the old f/2.2 aperture and also makes bokeh in macro shots look much better."
I guess since it's just a new lens, the phone will never know the difference unless the software is specifically designed to compensate for an f/2.2 aperture. I bought the OEM s6 edge camera module from ebay for $20.00 I'm going to swap it in and see how it goes. I'll post pictures.
Finally, with the temporary root tools available can I do this process? Or next time I boot my phone the camera app won't work because I've lost root access.

Galaxy Edge+ - Do You Have The IMX240 Or The ISOCEL Camera Sensor?

Camera sensor Sony or Samsung?
Did you guys check the camera sensor on your Edge+? Apparently even this time Samsung is pushing two different models, one from Sony (IMX240) and one it's own ISOCELL sensor. In general, Images from sony sensor have been more eye-pleasing in the past. Would be nice to see how it varies based on model number/region for Edge+, and some sample shots from both.

You can dial *#34971539# and select ISP VER CHECK. If it says SONY_IMX240_something then it's a sony sensor, otherwise samsung. You can also use some app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.finalwire.aida64&hl=en

HTC One M8 - Device dies at 40% battery left, trying to recalibrate hasn't worked at all.
I figured it was a time for an upgrade. I was sorely tempted to get the HTC 10 for the multimedia capabilities but at practically $1k CAD, I couldn't justify it. Especially when OP3 has comparable hardware with marginal differences for practical purposes.
A water damaged Galaxy S5, go figure. Wireless charging (because I don't know what else) keeps bloating my batteries as well.

I'm curious why? I can't pull trigger on 1+3 because S7 edge battery, camera and dimensions (narrower) seem better. I have an S7 flat.

I have been switching between an iPhone 6+, a OnePlus 2, and a Sony Z5 Premium Dual. So far I really like the OnePlus 3 but I've only had it one day. The Sony is a really good phone but I like the shape of the OP3 and the Alert slider that the Sony doesn't have. I'll probably carry the OP3 for a while before I considering switching again but I'm not going to totally ditch the Sony.

Looking to upgrade from Samsung Galaxy S4 to Honor 8 pro

I am looking to upgrade from my aging Samsung galaxy S4 to Honor 8 pro, however I need some info on the following from you all existing honor 8 pro users:
1. Does honor 8 pro support call recording (in built or via any third party app)
2. Does Honor 8 pro support flip to mute gesture for calls like my s4.
3. Is the camera better in low light compared to my s4?
4. Is the music quality via headphones better than my s4 or Samsung devices of that generation.
5. I am used to heating on my s4, is it more with honor 8 pro???
Thanks to all in advance.

1) Call recording is supported by using ACR
2) Yes and many more gestures too. Like raise to ear to pick up calls, etc.
3) Probably! According to me the low light images are very good. There is a slight bit of noise in the pics but still there is quite good detail present in the pics during low or artificial lighting conditions. During day time, it is absolute killer camera.
4) Sound quality is very good per my view. I used Mi Piston HD earphones and they sound pretty good.
5) Not more but there is warming during gameplay, VR streaming but it is never over heating even after an hour of continuous usage. After a while now with my daily use and casual gaming as and when, it seems much cooler and heating seems to be reduced or you can say much less noticed.

Call recording can be done using any app downloaded through Playstore.
Yes it supports gestures like flip to mute, etc.
The audio quality through headphones is better against my Moto X Play.
I have yet to get it heat to uncomfortable levels.

I was reading some of the user posts and they say that internet speed is slow on this phone. And also I watched several speed test videos of the Honor 8 Pro with various flagships, particularly with Samsung galaxy S8. Even though overall it was faster than galaxy S8 in loading apps, but in loading data from the net like loading websites in Chrome or loading videos in youtube app it was much slower. Can you please comment in this?

It was over wifi, both Samsung galaxy S8 and honor 8 pro were connected to the same wifi network and S8 could fetch data much faster than the Honor 8 Pro even though the Honor 8 Pro loaded the apps faster.

Google camera on redmi note 5 pro

Hey there,
I've been using my redmi note 5 pro for more than a week now, and straight up the camera packed on this thing is really good. But for a tech YouTube like me, who compares this phones with the top flagship devices, the results are inconsistent.
First off I compared it with iPhone X, and was shocked with the results. The redmi note 5 pro performed so much better than the iPhone X. Now some people may say that comparing the two is not fair as there is a humongous price difference between the two. But xiaomi itself said that the phone was a natural competitor with phones like iPhone X and Google Pixel 2.
SO I HAD TO COMPARE IT WITH GOOGLE PIXEL 2 XL. But the results weren't so good. When compared to pixel's images, note 5 pro's images look washed out and soft. But it didn't lack completely back, as note 5 packing a bigger aperture did a little better than pixel 2 in low light situations, but again the results were pretty inconsistent. So at the end of the day no one can match Google's amazing algorithms of HDR+.
But I think if someone can port the Google camera in note 5 pro it will perform so much better as these two device pack almost identical camera hardware.
I'm not sure if camera 2 api is fully unlocked in this phone, can somebody please tell me how to do it. Do I just need to download the Google camera apk from the internet? I'm really curious to see how the redmi note 5 pro will perform with Google camera's algorithms.
Peace
You need to unlock your bootloader first and than flash twrp and magisk and than you can enable camera api 2 by editing Build.prop

Pixel has a bigger aperture, also with a larger pixel size than the note 5 pro... low light won't be better on the note 5 pro.
I rooted, enabled camera 2 api, installed google camera....but Google camera images had a lot of noise compared to stock camera(you can see noise on zooming into the pic)

the soc snapdragon 636 can have the feature of 1080p recording at a frame rate of 120fps, so can we able to record this on redmi note 5 pro using any third party app by rooting?

yeah on redmi note 3
perhaps it is necessary to install modified driver for the camera. (if this exists).
in youtube i saw a video that teached where find and install the driver, then install google camera on a note 4.
the difference in the photo (with original driver and with modified driver + google camera) was remarkable.

The second camera in rn5p is a depth sensor! So the primary lens does all the work and gcam will only use the primary lens ! So why wont it make the images better.
Though for A1 both lens Gcam has been ported at it works great!!!
