Moving from HTC One (M7) to HTC 10 - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I already moved from HTC One (M7) to HTC 10. For the moment, I have two questions:
1) Is it possible to set the name of the pictures oder videos taken? I coppied the pictures and videos from my former phone to the new one. Of cource, they have names in ascending order (IMAG1001.jpg,...,IMAG1234.jpg). When I now take a new pciture, the name starts with IMAG0001.jpg. Is it possible that the phone takes the name IMAG1235.jpg?
2) I used a certain note app. I do really know which, it seems to me it was the one already installed on the HTC One. How can I move the memos made to the new HTC 10? Maybe installing another mem app on the old one which can export/save the memos and load them in this "new" memo app on the HTC 10?
Thanks so far!

Yes, it's possible. Follow this:
What is your hTc 10 picture number at the moment?
Lets presume it is IMAG0006 ..
So go into the folder and rename it IMAG0007..
Then take photo - its name will be IMAG1235 ..
Enjoy it!

Or if they're on your pc just highlight all then right click and rename to htc m7 for example, they'll then be named HTC M7 then HTC M7 1 and so on.

For the second question: the note app of the HTC One is the former app of evernote. I decided to register online and could sync the notes with my new HTC 10 with evernote app installed. It was only just a pitty that I made a mistake so that all my notes changed there date of creation and last edited to one date. But at least I have my notes back...

"HTC News" Folder on card - WTF?

Hi All,
Why does a folder called HTC news, c/w with many thumbnail pictures of HTC products keep restoring itself to my datacard, despite me deleting it? I delete, it comes back. I delete it, it comes back.
Do you have this folder on your card? Can you delete it?
It's probably the image directory for the News app/widget. (btw, it's .htcnews on my Desire)

Migrating from Desire to Desire HD - advice & suggestions pls.

Hi all. I'm considering getting a Desire HD in the new year. But before I make the final decision I'd like to find out what would be involved in migrating my apps & data etc from my current Desire.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC Desire
I suppose it all depends on if the HD has been rooted by then and if you could use Titanium Backup?
You could maybe use Appbrain to make a list of your apps installed on your Desire and then login to Appbrain on the HD and install the apps from there?
Your phone numbers and email addresses should be saved in your Gmail account, and will be imported when you set up the device.
No plans to root any of my phones at present

Thanks StuMcBill perhaps I should have added I don't intend to root any phone that I have or intend to purchase in the near future.
I was under the impression that my app purchases/installs were stored somewhere linked to my Google account. With this in mind if I had another phone with the same Google account, when I logged in to the Marketplace my phone would display my apps albeit not installed yet.
I can see why that might not work though.
Do I really need to root one or both phones and then buy/install and use a 3rd party app to migrate to a new phone...?
Your app purchases are recorded so once you log in on the HD it will download them but it doesn't know your download history. As said contacts will be dragged on if u use Google contacts (best way of doing it if you ask me). Things like SMS/MMS can't be backed up/migrated without rooting AFAIK

I'd say wait for Q1 2011... and Tegra 2 porcessors from Nvidia.
The HTc desire HD is still in the same playground than the n1 ..htc desire and others...
Desire vs Desire HD
To add to the conversation: Desire HD is a Desire, but with a bigger screen. That's obvious, but the equation is purely between:
*bigger screen
*less quality screen
From what I've seen, it's not worth switching in terms of price and screen quality vs bigger screen.
Indeed, I'll await new candy with serious power (as if the Desire doesn't have power enough). And yes, bigger screens with superb quality
It's not *only* the screen difference.
HD has much larger internal memory
HD has (much probably) better CPU/GPU
etc.

Thx EddyOS. I think that caps it. With regards to download history are you referring to browser or app marketplace?
I store my contacts in a couple of places but not primarily on Google - so that's less of an issue. BTW I back up my texts using an app called SMS Backup. Sends everything to a folder on gmail.

I delete SMSs as soon as they're read, and archive emails as soon as they're read...don't like clutter

[Q] Features Missing from hTC One M8

Hi Guys,
I have been a big fan of hTC while all of my colleagues and friends are Samsung and iPhone. I was using htc one x before having this htc one m8. I thought this flagship would be great phone..but I have discovered that they have gotten rid off some of the coolest features. Galley feature from "People" (where you could see all the pictures of your fb friend without going to fb), Notes, Soundhound...I don't know what else as I have been using this phone only for couple of weeks now. Does anyone realise it? is there any way we can have them back..especially Gallery option?

You've already been told about a couple of these from @Sneakyghost on the VenomROM tickets.
Notes isn't there because HTC didn't renew the contract with Evernote. You can install the Evernote app from the playstore, or install Google Keep or Scribble. They are both similar to the Notes app.
Soundhound is also available on the Play Store..
HTC got rid of the Gallery option for a reason I don't know, but probably because they didn't renew the contract with Facebook as well. You aren't going to get that with the M8.
I was going to close your ticket at VenomROMs after answering this post, but I'll leave it up so the devs can see it. Maybe they will try to implement it, but I really doubt it. This is the first request I know of for Venom to get facebook back into the gallery.
Low demand=lots of work for a select few.

Retrieve notes from a broken phone HTC One X+

Hey
A while ago, the touchscreen on my phone broke and i figured I'd buy a new phone.
Now I had/have these important notes on my broken phone and I'd like to retrieve them.
So I tried snooping through the directory via my computer, but I can only find a .png file from my notes and a .html file that just opens chrome. Now for short notes the .png file would be enough but the note I'm trying to retrieve is quite long and the file doesn't capture it fully by far.
The notes are made on an HTC One X+ with the built in HTC notes app. I tried the HTC sync manager but that only works for putting files on the phone not retrieving them.
I hope someone can help me.
Regards

contact photo issue

I have an issue with my htc 10
Whenever i put a photo for any contact it will stay in full quality for couple of days
Then it will become as mosaic checker box pattern with low quality later
Any solution for this
I have exactly the same problem but it already appears after some hours. Hi quality photos are rendered als lo-res.
The fix is to sign into your Google account on the web and go to your contacts. From there you can upload hi res photos and it will sync to your phone. You should also select the star for android in each contact. Easier done on a desktop or laptop

I already tried this. First, the hires picture is synched to the phone. But after some time, it is replaced with a lowres picture.

Yes, they are favorites and therefore marked as starred. I just tried again with the latest 1.90.x ROM. Until now, the hires picture sticks. Let's see for how long.

It does not stick if its not starred, im already on 1.90.x
Is this the same behavior in stock android, or just htc branded ones?
