I am still with 4.4.4. Do I need upgrade to 5.1.1 first?
noob here, if i install this, can i still get future updates such as security patches? or future versions of marshmallow?
I am still on DOI2...
DOI6 files need to be installed first, right?
I used this procedure to update my Note 5 (insurance claim recently replaced my Note 4) so if you have any questions, I may be able to help. It looks like in order to use this file you'd have to be on firmware ending in 6.
Keep in mind, on the Note 5 there were a couple different updates posted on the server, so this one y'all found may not be the final update.
Also, if you use this via adb, it will wipe everything on the phone.

There needs to be a way to flash back to an official release. I haven't read through the Note 4 threads to see if there is. If there isn't a way to flash back, I wouldn't install this because if this turns out to be not the final OTA, you wouldn't be able to get the latest or future OTAs.

Thanks for help.
I think you can put this update on SD card and if you adb from SD card will not wipe your phone. On note 5 we did not have this option.

If this is not finale MM version you need to flash back to version you on now. There was no problem flashing back at all on Note 5, so I don't think there will be with Note 4.
For all others I will look for previous updates so you can update up to last official release.

Wouldn't we be able to download the final OTA file and flash it the same way?

Downgrade from 5.1.1 Lollipop back to 5.0.1 or 4.4.4:
The 5.1.1 “bootloader” is secured, so downgrading from Android 5.1.1 and returning back to Android 5.0.1 and or 4.4.4 is not possible anymore.

I know this. But for some reason I did downgrade on Note 5 from unofficial MM 6.0.1 I update thru ADB back to 5.1.1. Then I took official update thru OTA to 6.0.1 with finale build. BTW Note 5 have secure bootloader too.

Has anyone else had an issue with their Z5 premium updating to 6.0 marshmallow. I can't even use my computer because they haven't released an update for Mac. Info about my phone is E6853 running 5.1.1 build 32.0.A.6.200 kernel build 3.10.49-perf-g75e6207.
Can anyone give me any advice?
Thanks

There isn't enough info in your post to help you. Where are you based? Country that is. Is your fone for your country or is it an import? Have you checked XperiCheck to see what has been released for your fone? Question and answer time...

Sorry, kind of new to this. It's imported, I live in the US, being used on AT&T. I checked xpericheck (1299-1272) and it shows updates for the last 6 months. But doesn't show for 6.0, it does say it should be 32.2.A.0.253-R8C which was updated 2 months ago

Since you've an imported fone in the US, you probably need to dl the ftf and flash using flashtool. I'm not sure how you're going to get the correct Rom to automatically dl and install otherwise.

since you are the lucky one still running on 5.1.1
root it and get your DRM keys BACKED UP , before UPDATING to 6.x.x

The "wear 2.8" that everyone is talking about is an update to the Android Wear app. It will not come in the form of a firmware update. And yes, some HW 1st gen users have already got it. I did the update manually on mine because I didn't feel like waiting.

1. Get ADB working on your watch.
2. Download the latest watch version of the Android Wear app: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...id-wear-2-8-0-182596874-android-apk-download/
3. adb install -r [path to apk file]
The battery life became horrible on 2.7 .. hope 2.8 will fix that
Used to get 1.5 days minimum.. now i am getting 12h

Got 2.8 OTA few days ago on version 1 watch. No forced update. As soon as the phone app gets updated to 2.8 you should get an update to the watch.
I don't know if this question has been asked and I've combed the threads. When the Android P beta program starts (hopefully tomorrow) will I need an unlocked bootloader for that? I'm currently on VZW's stupid locked bootloader.
I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. I know how you guys hate repeating yourselves.

Nice.. I just compared the 2 and so far they're pretty close. I'm seeing in a few locations that DP2 should be tomorrow. :fingers-crossed:

Nice. I jumped on Oreo when it was DP2 so I'm willing to do the same with P.

And now that I recall, last Google I/O was the release of Oreo DP2 so it's highly likely they'll repeat that.

I did the same exact thing with Oreo. Played around with DP1 but ran DP2 almost constantly until final. I flash different roms constantly, or at least I used to. But anymore vanilla Android is really my cup of tea.
Do not need to unlock

You can flash the OTA firmware in recovery mode. and use adb sideload command to update Android P beta. download OTA firmware in developers.android.com/preview/download-ota.html
BTW, beta is open now
Beta program is open again
Beta is open again but it's still linking to Developer Preview 1 and not the beta. Hopefully they get the new beta links updated today.
I'm using the beta now. Thanks everyone for your responses.
I am downloading the P DP2 now, and it will install. I am stock not rooted or anything.
Is there a way to make this a fresh clean install without having TWRP or root ?
I have a Verizon Pixel 2 XL. Will I be able to go back to Oreo fairly easily if I give the P Beta a try?
Thanks!

Thanks for quick reply! Can I leave the beta program at any time?
Google Pay not working.... Can anyone verify?
I'm having connectivity issues with Wi-Fi and Mobile, can anyone confirm?
Why is there 2 release numbers for Q? Which one is the proper one to use for Google Pixel 3Xl.(not verizon)
TIA
According to what I've read .019 is for those who were already on the betas and .020 is for those upgrading from Pie.
Not true, as I was on the last beta and the OTA pulled down .20 for me....
Honestly, they are hiding something here given the fact that there is NO documentation. I just got off chat with Pixel support. After going round and round and the agent claiming that it all depends on a bunch of stuff according to her "resources" she asked the resources one more time and they said that since you are flashing manually they recommended downloading .20 even though it completely contradicts the numbering method of every other Pixel file since the beginning when there was more than one (agnostic was always the first or lowest number and carrier specific after).

Same here. I didn't notice there were two and just downloaded the last one in the list and sideloaded in stock recovery. Kind of glad I didn't notice so I was ignorant of any confusion.
