So my Nexus 5X prompted me to download the system update this morning. Everything went as normal, but after it had finished I now get 'Software Exception' constantly popping up on the screen around 30 seconds after the phone has booted. The message appears for a second, disappears, reappears, etc.
I turned the phone off and tried to go into recovery mode, but now instead of my usual recovery options I just get a screen with an exclamation mark that says 'No command'.
Can anyone help? Thanks

What is you see is the usual recovery screen. You are supposed to press and hold power + click volume up for recovery screen and then release power.
I cant understand what is software exception screen. Not seen in my life. Clearing cache might help.
I don't remember having to do power and volume up before, but thanks that worked to get me in.
I cleared the cache but still getting 'Software exception' flash up every other second.

I'm having the same issue on my Nexus 5X. Started immediately after upgrading.

Oh joy. A factory reset is precisely why I avoided unlocking/rooting this thing, and now I have to go through it anyway. Ugh.

I went to go download the NFL 2011 application from the market today but it doesn't show up. Does any one happen to know why? Just curious hopefully it starts showing up soon.
I notice the same thing, and 12 won't show up either.

Think I figured out why I don't see the app, if you go to the android market website (not the app). Then go to "My Devices" it has nothing for my carrier. Not sure why, I will stay off wifi and see if it updates.
I was able to download the app. It's actually really polished and quick for checking up on scores without having to sift through interface.
Downloaded it Friday just fine from the market on my phone

I have resolved this issue and wanted to post what was found for any one else that may have this issue. The root cause of the issue ended up being the carrier (sprint) was not identified for the device. You could see this by logging into the android market website and looking at "My Devices" under "My Account". I contacted support and they replied with the below. I performed all of the steps they gave with the exception factory reset. This corrected my issue and caused Sprint to now show up under carriers and I was able to download the application with no problem.
I know this is long but I hope it helps someone out there.
*** Steps from Google Support ****
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Try your download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
- Uninstall Market updates by visiting:
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Market" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
- Unmount and remount the SD card:
Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD card; then Remount SD card from the same menu, or restart the device if the remount option isn't available
If the above steps don't resolve the problem I recommend you perform a factory reset on your device. Please note that this will reset your device to its original state. While your media content (photos, music, etc.) will not be deleted from the SD card, applications and their related data will be uninstalled.
Before the factory reset, make sure that your contacts are synced to your Google account by logging into Gmail from a computer and verifying if your contacts appear there. If your contacts are not synced, then I recommend updating your sync settings at Settings > Accounts and Sync and choosing either AutoSync or touching the account you would like to sync and choosing "Sync Contacts."
Along with syncing contacts, please back up any important application data and/or settings by navigating to Settings > Privacy and selecting "Back up my data'"and "Automatic restore."
To perform a factory reset:
1) Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Privacy (or Phone storage; depends on the device)
2) Press "Factory data reset"
3) Press "Reset phone"
After you perform the factory reset, make sure you sign into your device with the same primary Google Account you were using before. If you have any questions or concerns before performing the reset, or if doing so does not resolve the issue, please let me know so I can continue to investigate the issue.
It didn't show up for me the first day the phone came out but I checked yesterday and it was there and downloaded it fine.

Lose your Android device, either to theft or your own forgetfulness, is certainly not fun, that's what happened to my wife last month with my Nexus 7 3G. Google has finally released its response to the loss or theft of your Androphone with Android Device Manager.
It should hit your device soon, if not already, to help you locate or wipe (factory reset) your Android device lost. Here's how to use it.

Android Device Manager will automatically hit your device without having to do a thing. If you don't have it yet, you will soon receive. But before you can take full advantage of ADM, you will need to do some things, such as allowing factory reset on your device. Its implementation is quite simple..
First, visit google.com/android/devicemanager.
and if you want you can download the apk => com.google.android.gms-1.apk - MD5 Sum: d1884b750aff2dc3ff435f95510420cb - Size: 7.30 MB (7649893 bytes)
From there, a map will pop up with some information about your device, along with a prompt to enable the Erase Device function of ADM. You can either manually open up the green Google Settings app, which should be in your app drawer, or use the send notification link on the ADM webpage, giving you an easy way to find exactly where you need to be to enable remote factory reset.
If you don’t use the notification, just open Google Settings, and select Android Device Manager.
The option to toggle both the ability to factory reset your phone from ADM, and locate it, will be in there.

After you’ve done that, you’re ready to set to go. At the moment, there are three main functions of Android Device Manager. You can ring a lost phone, factory reset a lost phone or locate your device on a map using your phone's GPS. You can also rename what your device appears as in ADM.
Simply you can load ADM online and will show you the location of your device, but if you’re tracking it while it’s on the move, there’s a refresh button that will recalculate your device’s location.
If your device is located somewhere simply, like in your own house, you may want to use the Ring function. As Google explains, even if your phone is on silent, using the ring function in ADM will force your phone to ring at full volume for five minutes. To turn it off, you have to press the power button on your phone.
There’s nothing on your device indicating why it’s ringing, you’d have to know how to stop the ringing or play around to figure it out.
If you believe your device has been stolen, and you have some precious information on it, then the Erase Device function will come in handy. After you click Erase Device, a pop up will tell you what it will erase (essentially everything), and what will happen after that.
Unfortunately, Google says it “may not be able to wipe the content of the SD card in your device.” Best of luck if you have anything private on there.
If your device is off when you try to factory reset it, have no fear. The moment it’s turned on, it will be erased.
You may think erasing the content of your device is the best thing to do as soon as you find it’s missing, but you may want to hold on. After you erase your device, ADM will not work anymore.

For the moment, that’s all there is to it. As with all of Google’s products, we expect to see more features added in time and more practice

I wish there was an option to set a pin on the phone remotely.
When I login to android device manager web site, how come my phone was not listed there?
Sorry If I'm asking this Question in the wrong section but whenever I locate my device, ADM send a notification to my device which seems to be quite silly as if my phone is stolen, the thief will be able to see this notification and may turn off ADM completely. Any suggestions to turn off the notifications??
I've already remove ticked from show notifications by going to Settings =.> Apps... that didn't work out

How to make a Factory Data Reset (Hard Reset) on LG G3 smartphone?
Solution 1 (Factory reset via menu )
Open Android Settings
Tap Backup & reset
Tap Factory data reset
Tap Reset phone
Tap Erase everything
Solution 2 (Hard reset via buttons )
There are THREE different options to make a hard reset via buttons. Only one is for your phone. You have to try out all to find out which is yours, because it depends on your exact Android version.
Option 1
Power off the device and wait 10 seconds
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button

Hello,
I have an OnePlus 3 (Indian Version). I was using Flyme OS 6 (here).
Everything was going great until few days back. I wasn't getting signals and so I restarted the device. But it entered the Options menu and the selector(Blue colored) auto scrolls through the options continuously.
There are these options:
Power off
Restart
Recovery
Fastboot

Video showing the Auto Scroll.
After almost 40-45 mins the selector stopped at 'Fastboot' option and I booted into it. Even here the options auto scrolled from Start to Recovery to Power off and again same. Yet I booted into Blue Spark TWRP via Terminal using fastboot command and tried flashing Flyme OS again and even Open Beta Zip. The flash finished sucessfully but the device again booted into options menu.
I have even tried both methods 1 and 2 from here and that also went fine but still the same issue.
I am hoping someone can help before I go to the Customer Service Reps as the nearest Service center is ~250KMs from my home town.
did you solve this issue? seems like the volume button is stuck.

Still stuck there.
I am able to boot into QUALCOMM 9008 mode to use the Msm tool. If Volume (probably -) key is stuck than I must not have booted into QUALCOMM mode. Correct me if am wrong.
Also if the case actually is so, then is there a way to fix it by my own?

I just rebooted to see that if I held my volume down button, do I get the same scrolling effect as yours.
It turns out I have the exact same effect as yours with the sane scrolling speed, which indicates that your volume down button is stuck.
I guess you can blow some air into the rocker or do something to set it free.

Thanks for doing so much just to help me.
I can hear the Click when I press the volume down button yet I will try to blow some air and see again.
Edit: I tried but still same. Pressing up button moves the selector up once and then again auto scroll continues.
At last I took the device to Service center and they fixed it via a firmware flash. I don't know if they did just that but that's what they said.
I have had this reoccurring issue for some time now, my SIM gets disabled and cell icon is gone from the status bar. Thing is, I still have data and can make calls. This happens randomly and cant reproduce it, sometimes it may be a few days, sometimes up to a month or more, but always happens after a reboot. Don't think it's a hardware issue, cause a clean flash of a rom clears it up, I think there is something hidden that is causing this to happen, maybe not. I have also replaced the SIM several times, but the issue comes back. Still have the correct IMEI's and "Settings > About Phone" as well as "Testing Mode" shows the SIM to be functioning properly. Anyone out there have a guess at what might be the issue?
Ok, it took only three reboots this time for this to happen. Rebooted to TWRP and wiped data, rebooted to OS and have signal back. There has to be something on the software side causing this to happen, just don't know what. If it was hardware, just wiping data wouldn't make it work again. Forgot to say which rom, I'm running LineageOS 16 official.

Flashed OOS 9.0.4 last night, rebooted the phone around lunch today and same thing happens. At least with OOS, the icon is there, well the disabled sim icon and it also shows the working tx/rx arrows next to the icon. It's just weird how the system thinks the sim is disabled, yet I still have service.
As you can see, sim is disabled in top bar and "Settings > SIM & Network", but "About Phone > Status" and Testing Mode show that it's active

Think I may have solved my problems. A while back, I tried the method of fixing IMEI with erasing modemst1/modemst2 and kept getting "FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)", even though the bootloader was unlocked. With that in mind, maybe not being able to flash those partitions was causing my sim/IMEI info from being stored and therefor loosing service and sim being disabled. So today I did the unbrick method of using the MsM download tool to completely reflash my phone. After enabling OEM unlock and fastboot unlocking phone, I can now erase modemst1/modemst2 partitions. So, I am now in the process of flashing back LineageOS and will see how things go. Will report back later on results.
