Note 7 - Wallpaper auto revert to default after I restart - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Description:
With whatever theme (even stock theme), I change the default wallpaper - home screen of that theme to whatever wallpaper I want and then restart the phone, the wallpaper that I set just disappear and automatically revert to the default wallpaper of the current theme. ==> so weird !
I did try factory reset and even clear system cache: to no avail
Discovery:
Then I try changing the screen resolution (after restart) to other resolution (whatever), to my surprise, the home screen wallpaper immediately re-appear, ....... until I restart
The same process happens again and again:
1. change to my favorite wallpaper,
2. I restart my Note 7,
3. only to see that my set wallpaper disappears, and the default wallpaper shows instead
4. change screen resolution (setting-display), my wallpaper re-appears at once
then..... return to step 2.
.
Has anybody here met with such problem ? Mine is Note 7 N930FD - Exynos. Latest update installed !

Same thing here, after restarting, the wallpaper is reverted to the previous ( but not the default one)

Looks like it 's a rare problem to most Note7 owners. Btw, did you try changing the resolution like i said ? I did ask and am still waiting for a replacement from the retailer
Anyone with the same small-but-annoying problem ??

Same issue n im facing with repeated restart also.

My evo will not change my background and always reverts back to a red ribbon wallpaper but live wallpapers work. So my problem is that I cannot change my background because it reverts back to another wallpaper and my question is how do I change it.

Try a different wall paper some have openGL issue with sense and don't stick. I'm assuming you downloaded it from the market
I meant the static wallpapers

have you tried a reboot if that don't work I don't know sorry maybe find the red stripe wall paper and delet it would work.
how are you trying to change the background... i tried with astro fille manager and so far its been a no go, but if you hit up the gallery in apps, find pic then hit menu button, you have an option to set as....
this is how i've been going about changing my wallpapers that are having those issues.
from any home screen just hit menu>wallpapers
you can pick where you want to get it (live, wallpapers, or gallery) from there
pick it, be done with it

I have the same problem, however I set the wallpaper it will sooner or later revert back to the same original one as in the first post... when I have a problem to actually set the wallpaper a restart will solve it but then it will randomly revert to the same wallpaper again. It happens on a daily basis except when I use the live wallpaper, even with a wallpaper rotation.
Using Sprint EVO G4 - 2.1
had this issue to resolve it simply restart your phone

[Q] Live Wallpapers and custom Roms

I am needing help setting live wallpapers on my lockscreen. I am running Jedi-x 16 Rom with Perseus-alpha35 kernel. Prior to installing the custom Rom everything worked fine. This is what happens: I long press on the screen, select "Set Wallpaper" then "Home and Lockscreen" then click on Live Wallpapers, then I get a message stating "TouchWiz Home has stopped." If I try setting it via Settings I get the message that "Settings has stopped." Now if I only chose to set a live wallpaper on my homescreen, it works fine and I am able to do so.
I have tried numerous times to remove LiveWallpapersPicker and reinstall different versions by using Root Explorer, moving the apk file to /system/app, changing the permissions rwx-r-r and rebooting.
Has anyone else ran into similar situations with custom Roms or have any advice for finding a solution?
Maybe try setting just for home screen possibly might fix your problem!!
Not too sure if you, can run a LW on the lockscreen!!
If I'm wrong then someone can correct me on that comment!!
I don't use live wallpapers because they use to much battery anyway! :what:

What I would like to happen is have the LW set for both the lockscreen and homescreen. It is currently set for the home screen. Live wallpapers can be set on the lockscreen. Prior to installing this Rom and kernel I had one set.

Oh ok. Well what might be stopping it from your response. Sounds like it's the kernel causing it not to work like it was B4!

Can't change lock screen wallpaper

Hello All,
Strange problem, all of a sudden no matter what I try u can't change the lock screen wallpaper. Trying from gallery doesn't work, neither does trying from that lock screen settings. It worked fine about a week ago and when I try it tells me it saved/applied but never changes. I tried going back to stock launcher from Nova just to make sure that wasn't the issue but it had no effect. Any ideas?

Just wanted to update to say I can change my wallpaper by going to settings, lock screen, wallpaper and choosing wallpaper gallery, which is what the phone came pre loaded with. Choosing gallery gets the same result as before... The phone says it changes it but really doesn't.

solved lg g3 lockscreen wallpaper
The problem is with the sd card. It seems that its some kind of abug in the software that reads the files from the sd card.
Just move the files from your ad card to the phone memory, and it will change the Lockscreen wallpaper.
Cheers
Excellent! That was the problem. But this is not happening with home screens wallpaper as these are in my ext card and changing probably!

Worked for me, thanks!
Found this worked for me:
1. Go to Internal Storage/Preload/
2. Delete the files with names of previous LG Wallpapers.
3. Select your desired wallpaper (mine was a file I made and then put in my internal storage just fyi)
4. Hooray!
Tried restarting my phone, still works.

[Q] Can't change lock screen wallpaper

I think I played too much with apps that changed lock screen photo cause now Im stuck with one and cant change it. I purged the gallery data which effected in changing the wallpaper onto default one (the kid with the balloons on the meadow) but still not much I can do. My phone is rooted. I didnt use QuickPic or any other apps to view my pics, only the Stock one. Any ideas?

There is a bug on 4.2.2 that you cannot change the lockscreen wallpaper if you have the Ripple effect. Other than that I have no clue, maybe a senior person can guide you!

Good to know that You dont take people as idiots. No I didnt try that. c'mon :/
Ive got rooted phone. Just made hard reset, cleaned cache as well... problem still exists :/
I am able to change the wallpaper for animated one (as long as I pick home and lock screens together), but then when I change it to normal one it goes straight to the default.
Can anyone tell me where is the default one kept? Im gonna delete it (or move it) and see what happens.
Im on rooted stocked system android 4.4.2 and I have the same bug with being unable to change the lock screen while on unlocking the screen with ripple effect :/ bummer

Three little "problems" I found using the OnePlus 5T

Hey guys,
while I'm extremely happy with the phone (awesome screen, perfect fingerprint location IMO, general form factor), I've come across three little problems:
1.) The biggest "flaw": Using another launcher / wallpaper than the stock one causes the face-unlock to be slower. And if you set another launcher / wallpaper, there will be a noticeable delay when you turn on the screen: The wallpaper will take longer to appear on the screen than everything else.
2.) The time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is almost a second. Coming from the 3T btw, where it almost felt instant.
3.) I'm not sure whether it's a flaw but it's just something that looks strange: The greyish navbar when using a dark-themed app. (I wouldn't really call this a problem, it's just a consistency flaw you notice, while operating the phone.
So first of all: Do you have the same impressions? It might very well just be my phone and you don't encounter these problems. But in another thread I already read about the face-unlock time taking longer, when using another launcher / wallpaper.
Thanks in advance for any replies and experiences!

There's an app in the play store called Navbar Apps which can fix the navbar colour issue. Doesn't even need root!

Thanks Lum_UK, but I already tried that one. I find it to be a bit slow in overlaying the "correct" color, i.e. the overlay isn't always there from the beginning when opening an app.
And I'm not interested in rooting anymore.
You can force it to just black in that app, which may be preferable to the grey, and avoids the delay issue.
Otherwise, probably not much you can do unless a future OOS adds new options.

What launcher r u using
So far I tried Nova, Lawnchair and the stock launcher. I'm encountering this problem with Nova and Lawnchair, not with the stock one. But if I set a custom wallpaper in the stock launcher, the wallpaper-appearing-delay is also there.

#2 is because of face unlock. Disable it and it will be instant.
Personally i use ambient display + lift up display so when i pick the phone i can see the clock and if needed, the double tap to wake in that screen is instant too

You can turn off the animation in Navbar Apps as well. That way the correct color will load much faster.
I don't use Face Unlock, but everything turns on instantly for me.
However, the nav bar color oscuro the worst and I can't wait to get back to a good AOSP firmware. OxygenOS is great and all but missing very important features I just can't live (comfortably) without.

You're right! This means bye-bye then to face unlock, unless this is fixed. I'm using smart lock anyway. :good:
Thank you for all your replies so far! They really were helpful!
Now could you still say something about "problem" #1? Do you observe the same or is it different? So if you use another launcher / wallpaper, will the wallpaper take longer to load then everything else?
1. agreed, same exact issue here.
2. i dont have that issue. both FP and FU are pretty much instant. sounds strange. maybe factory reset is really the way to go.
3. yea i agree, not optimal.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to give a heads up to you: I just discovered how to avoid the 'wallpaper-lag' while turning the screen on when using a non-stock wallpaper or non-stock launcher:
1. Force stop the OnePlus launcher.
2. Uninstall any updates to it.
3. Use the launcher you like. (Tested with lawnchairs and Nova)
At least for me, the wallpaper lag is gone!

For me this doesn't solve the problem. If the wallpaper is set through another launcher (Nova in my case) and if I use Nova, when using face unlock, i first see the lock screen for some split seconds and then it unlocks. If the lockscreen wallpaper is set through the OnePlus launcher itself, it skips the split seconds on the lockscreen completely and goes directly onto the homescreen which feels much more instantaneous. Also if I'm using a live wallpaper, like the nice new Pixel wallpapers which I wanted to use, the problem occurs even when setting the wallpaper through the OnePlus launcher and when using OnePlus launcher itself.
I've uninstalled the OnePlus launcher updates and tried to force stop it (although this wasn't possible as it seemingly wasn't even started to begin with), but nothing changed.
And yes, the wallpaper will often times take longer to appear on the screen than everything else, exactly like Dimitry from Hardware Canucks demoed in his review:
https://youtu.be/Kf93Nz_bgFs?t=7m48s
This looks very glitchy in my opinion but is of course rather nitpicky.
And as Sangraphim said, the time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is definetly prolonged when using face unlock - but that's probably by design I guess, because it starts the front camera first and waits a bit to detect a face before actually turning on the screen.
