Did you give the apps the right permissions, and set them as the default in settings ?
I have install the google version from the Play Store, there is no need right permissions. Where can set to default app?

I can't get the new hangouts app installed in my galaxy s4. It says it is already installed, but when I press open, it opens the old talk app. Any thoughts?
We need the new Google play services for it to work.

The new hangout sucks!!! Big time!
I need to know the online status of my friend before I send them a message, I do not want to message ppl while they are in the middle of something.
Also, after install Hangout, Google Play Services seem to be a HUGE battery drain!!!

There is a green under their photo that tells you they are online. Also their photos are bolder than people who are offline.

No, there isn't. Not in the Android app at least. The green underline is visible only in the browser version.
To me Hangout is a HUGE step back compared from Talk.
I can't get no notifications at all...

Hey
As someone else mentioned, which is the method i used as well, use your Desktop and go to the google play store, find hangouts and it will let you install, choose your S4 from the devices list, and bam, force-update over Gtalk. You're welcome.
P.S. I suggest you install from the Play Store. Also, notifications work entirely fine for me.
Does anybody know how to delete pictures stored on the gallery from when u send a pic in hangouts it automatically saves them, kinda of annoying. Thanks

The method I used is if you're rooted just uninstall Google Talk w/ Titanium Backup, go into the Play Store and download/install Hangouts.
Just an alternative method from what's been stated.

Is anybody using this app?
when in Gmail I select a calendar invitation it automatically brings up the Samsung calendar app. I have cleared the default on Gmail as well as the Samsung calender app however I would like it too pull up Google Calendar app as a default. the funny thing is when you go in the Application Manager all applications say they have no set defaults. How do I fix this to pull up Google Calendar app?
You have google calendar installed from playstore? It doesnt give you an option as to witch app to use as default?
Whats the diff between samsung and google calendar? You can sync either one the same

Yes I do. I have try installing google calendar app and re-installing it. still just open sam calendar with out asking what app I want it to open with. I wish there a way to go in gmail app and tell it to use google cal app as default.

Instructions
This comes with no support, and is nowhere near complete.
0) Google Voice must be installed with notifications enabled (for now).
1) Install a recent +CyanogenMod nightly. July 1st or later. You need the SMS middleware patches I put in for PushSMS. (see Gerrit)
2) Push this apk to /system/app: http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/babel-signed.apk adb install will not work. The app requires system/signature permissions.
4) Start Babel, choose your Google Voice account. Authorize it.
6) Click the "Accessibility service" button, and it will direct you to settings. Enable "Babel".
No, Babel is not the final name.
How it works:
The app will sync your existing Google Voice messages into your messaging store. New Google SMS will be received as if it were a normal SMS.
When you send a message out from your messaging app, it goes

How does this differ then normal Google Voice settings? Currently my google voice already forwards to my Stock Messenger and I'm able to reply using my stock messenger. Now I can't start a text from my stock with my google voice number, but I can reply to any (If that makes any sense)

It just defaults to gvoice. But if you want to use normal carrier SMS all you have to do is open the babel app then disable then send SMS.
The implementation is really neat. The only thing that needs to be fixed is double notification (notification comes from gvoice and default messaging app, and you have to have voice notification on for it to work)

Then you don't get normal messenger notifications either (Something to do with how the mod works, it originally requires that gvoice has notifs enabled). Apparently any cyan nightly from 7/7 and beyond fixes it though

You'll need a file manager with root capabilities. The file manager that comes with CM is what I used on my GS3, and it works great!

Yes these apps all work and they are awesome . There is already a thread here with this stuff in it though gmail 5.0 is the title. I guess we can have 2 threads LOL
Don't like the wasted space. Samsungs is much nicer plus the swipe and motion functions. The archive option is great though.
How do you feel about the random colors assigned to each thread? Lol nice touch, but it would be nice to assign a color to a contact. We shall see!
