Root For Marshmellow - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just a question the wife has the note 4 for verizon, but never wanted it rooted. Now she has marshmellow.. Will she now be able to get root or sol... She hates the battery drain and over all performance...

A simple search of the Forums will answer your questions. Several threads about this..

YesMaybe, but it's going to take some work.
Definitely search around. I'm not sure but you may have to downgrade first. I posted the links below before I remembered that was from 5.1.1. There may be a way on marshmallow but not sure.

What would be the best way to root my new White Evo if it has the newest software on.

I want to know before hand so I dont do anything dumb to it, will simpleroot work.
Simpleroot
Yes, Simple Root is the easiest.
I don't want to be rude but you should search and read before posting this. I've got a grand total of 2 posts here and I've figured out how to do everything by just reading these forums.
I used the instructions at the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=721055 If you are going to use this one, make sure that the files you download are before Section 5 (The section for rooting with the newest OTA)
I was unaware that simpleroot worked for the newest OTA, but as I see now, I could have saved myself quite a bit of hassle. If simpleroot for whatever reason doesn't work for you, use the link in my comment and read over Section 5, say... 3-4 times before you go at it with your phone!
Best of luck!
Let me get this straight you've been a member here for 3 years and don't know how to use the search?

While the OP might be contributing to cluttering the forum, your post is cluttering the thread and has no use. If your'e going to scold someone over the search button at least give him an answer first then tell him to use the search button.
Sorry yeah I should of searched, yeah three years is a long time but my post count is what 200, thats roughly five post a month, and most are clumped together with back and forth conversations in certain threads, so Im not that saavy, and/or experienced with the forum despite my three years. But like what was said earlier in the thread, you can cut some threads in half if you remove all those posts telling the OP to search first.
There is a new-ish SimpleRoot OTA that does work... I did it. Check the version on your phone first to be sure which SimpleRoot to use. If you don't have that notorious OTA, the OTA version won't work.
However, the method misterneums links to provides backing up of your personal data/settings. If you have any such things, you might just want to use that method first, or at least use a backup tool before using SimpleRoot, as it will erase all such data.

Can someone link or show me where to get a rundown on how to root Froyo?

I am coming off a bricked phone so I am a little apprehensive about trying to root without a clear guide, especially froyo since it just got rooted from my understanding. I am sorry if this isnt in the right section, I really couldnt tell if this belonged in the General forum as it is a question, or if it belonged in the development as it is regarding Root/Roms. I would appreciate any help, and even any remarks on how I am misposting in this forum .
There is no root for froyo if you installed the official updates. You can try the previous methods but I doubt they work. You may be sol until someone decides to work on finding an exploit but I doubt that happens until there is an official release. The only rooted froyo that is out is for people who were rooted prior to froyo. Sorry.
If you have Froyo OTA (from Sprint) installed, you cannot yet root it (if/when someone releases root instructions). You have to already have your phone rooted with nand access and then install one of the rooted Froyo updates (there are two right now, from Avalaunch and netarchy). As well, there is a AOSP FROYO from cyanogenmod.
The wiki from toastcfh for this forum gives all sorts of instructions and options for rooting. Good luck.

So please don't murder me for this question, i'm a noob coming from a pre.
I updated(or i should say my phone automatically updated) the 2.1 sprint image from the last update with the SD card Fix. This was before I got to this forum about rooting, etc.
Are my options to only go to the sprint store and get a replacement phone if I want to root now? Or is there a way to backtrack.
I tried to root last night but kept getting daemon errors when trying to connect to the phone. :S

What software version are you running? From homescreen go to menu>settings>about phone>software information and give me your software #.
1.47.165.1
I thought I could with this, because this is what the simpleroot software is showing in the program.
I did a full erase also last night with the volume down power button trick.
search for simpleroot 1.47 either on google, youtube, or here. there are loads of vids and tutorials
Also, there is a Q & A forum and would suggest you use that next time you have a question. You'll get your ass handed to you for posting in the dev section.

Yea I know. I didnt post this thread. i just posted IN it.
I tried simpleroot and it didnt work. I just wanted to confirm that it COULD work, instead of playing around with it aimlessly for hours. Only to find my phone was locked.

Simpleroot is the best option to root v1.47. Unrevoked has known issues, AVOID it. Simpleroot was made from my earlier posting & guide of manually rooting 1.47, so I know it works. WATCH THE VIDEO he made!! It practically cups your nuts the entire way thru the process with both PC & EVO screen videos. Once you do simpleroot, I recommened doing toast's part 2. Right after that do a nandroid backup. Then apply one of the rooted Froyo ROMs posted in the dev forum (there are both odex and deodex versions posted).
However (as already stated numerous times in numerous threads) if you apply the OTA update, your screwed.

[Q] root and custom rom

Hey, I know this is probably a common question, but I've searched the web for hours and can't find any up to date information, and if it is up to date, it's for an at&t phone. I live in the UK so have an international one x, rendering (i assume from the information I've gathered) each guide useless!?
All I'm looking to do is root the phone and flash arhd to it, but I'm really really struggling. I was following the arhd guide on here originally, but I havnt rooted my phone, so can't get very far, nowhere at all actually!
And aside from that, I'm worried incase I somehow brick it by putting old software on it? I wouldn't say I'm a noobie, but I'm struggling to do this, can anyone please point me in the direction of an up to date guide on how to root, and then flash arhd to it?
Sorry, and thanks!

use the search function, this has been asked and answered many times. The third post in the "general" section is "how to, unlock bootloader, root and flash a custom rom. read it thoroughly and follow instructions to the letter. And chill out, it is harder than you think to brick the one x. follow the link>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904

Verizon LG G3 Lost root, can't get it back.

Edit: Wow I'm really new...it was because I hadn't updated SuperSU binary and had disabled it alltogether. How do I delete a post
I'm sorry if this has already been answered but I just can't find a solution anywhere so I'm creating a new thread.
I rooted my Verizon LG G3 around oct/nov 2014 and installed CloudyG3 1.1
I wanted to try a new rom and found out that I no longer have root access.
This confuses me because I have not accepted or tried to install any OTAs, the only thing I've done is update the SuperSU kernel, I'm not sure if that does anything.
I tried using stump root but it said phone has been patched, sorry.
Someone said I could use purpledrake but that says it doesn't work with Verizon, I haven't tried it yet, though.
(an aside: It's hard to wade through old forum posts looking for solutions to issues because they are twenty pages long and the majority of posts do not add to the discussion and just say "I'm having this problem as well". Is there a way to mute these posts or filter posts by helpfulness rating? Is there a way to bump a thread without posting?)
