Screen glitches at low brightness - Note 7 Questions & Answers

At a quarter of screen brightness, I notice lines start appearing when I scroll through pages or when I type. It's very noticeable on white background. Restarting or factory reset didn't solve the issue. I will be getting a replacement tomorrow.
Anyone else has this issue?

I do not see such issue as described.

please take a look at the photos
Not noticed that myself but I have been using Chrome.
i have noticed that on a couple of times, don't know why but it has gone away. but it's strange
To me it looks like either the LCD is damaged or the LCD connector has a problem with it. Return it for a new one

I have the exact same thing!
I made a topic of this myself.
Someone above said this is hardware, but i doubt this, because this glitch is only on the drop down menu, it is not random but outlined. A screen problem would cause this at any place on the screen.
What do you guys think of this?
Seems to be a Tegra3/ICS issue. The Transformer Prime had similar problems for months.
is this the screen glitch u guys are talking about or is it another screen glitch type?
if it is the former, i have not had it yet in the 4 days i have the phone..
try to use a different browser like dolphin or chrome or whatever

I was half tempted to get the One x because I thought they learned from the Sensation but guess not. This is the real problem of having your own skin, you break a perfectly good OS.

Try it with other browser. I believe it is the screen defect. Mine doesn't hv those glitches issues mentioned in the forum nor the yellow tint problem

Same here. I also haven't this problem also not in the standard browser.
Haven't noticed that myself over the 5 days I've had the phone.

Saw it on my phone yesterday for like 3-4 seconds...i was using whatsapp that time...so i dont think its only related with the browser...
Same thing here
Same thing happened when I was on ARHD 1.2.0 in Netflix. See attachment.
I also get this screen problem. It is software/firmware corruption, and not a hardware fault as far as I can tell.
It happens at random in the stock browser, or at least appears random - I haven't found a link to any website or user action yet.
It does seem it might be related to anything involving animated menus with gradient colour or transparency - that's just a passing observation though.

Screen flickering issue! (All Galaxy S4's)

If you lower the screen brightness all the way down and open the stock internet to Google, and tap the search bar to pop the keyboard up, you'll see a slight flicker. So far on every display s4 at the store has the same problem. Anyone have an idea if this is software or hardware related?
Huh, I dont have that problem on my phone. Just tested it.

Same here. Tested and experienced no flickering issue.
Are you talking about the smearing issue when the phone is dim all the way and you have white text on black background. Text turns hazy purple when u scroll. If so this is a known issue that's been reported here already.

I've noticed flickering on super white backgrounds. It's hard to see and it's got to be the right lighting and high brightness. IMO if you need to go through a process to see a slight flicker, blobs, etc., it's not really a concern. I'm assuming it's software related.. Same with the text blur.

Well yeah thats what I mean't by flicker lol. I honestly think the oled screen samsung put in the s4 is a little faulty and they needed to calibrate it better before shipping.

mine does it... unchecking the auto adjust doesnt help.
Most users wont notice it. Hell, I myself didn't notice it until someone pointed it out on their device and I tested and saw it. OCD kicked in.
Go in any app with the keyboard popped up and go into the Sun directly hitting the screen and you will see your screen flickering endlessly no matter what app your in

Screen burn in

Over the last few days I've noticed that the Chrome address bar and the NFC symbol are burned into my screen. Has this happened to anyone else?

I actually noticed this one day with the Chrome Browser as well. To troubleshoot, I checked a different browser that also had a black background and then didn't see the ghosted image. Back to Chrome again, ghosting; back to other browser, no ghosting. I think it might be a problem with the application where it's somehow burning the image into the black background of the browser instead of into the screen itself. Give it a try and see if that's the case or not.
You cannot burn an image into an applkcation as you described. If you use one of those screen test apps to look for dead pixels, on different colors you will see different parts. Usually with the full white screen you could see the burn in on the screen. If your screen is burned in see if sprint will replace it for you under warranty. Goodluck.

I hear what you're saying, but I know what I saw. I troubleshoot software and hardware all the time. I know what steps I took and I know I narrowed down the ghosting only to that one program's background. I didn't see it anywhere else; not on black backgrounds or on white backgrounds. Feel free to keep saying it's not possible, but I know what I saw.
Ok

This just came up on my home page so I'll help out the cause.
Basically, if a pixel stays the same for a very extended period of time (say, a few hours) and doesn't change then it eventually becomes accustomed to being that shade, and it will stay like that. LED screens are worst affected. If you make your entire screen go blue, that is by far the easiest way to check screen burn, as the blue segment deteriorates quickest.

I noticed this one day. I was flicking through pages and noticed I could see my beatiful widgets clock widget. It was only temporary though, as it went away after about 30 minutes of non-use. I also tend to get a yellow spot in the bottom right corner under prolonged temperature increase, but that also goes away. Hopefully it never becomes an escalating problem.

Screen Flicker

I am experiencing a screen flicker while watching video. It is very quick, but it almost looks like the home screen bleeding through. Anyone else experiencing this?

How to schedule downloads on android

Hi, just got an HTC One m8 2 weeks back.
I would like to know whether it's possible for me to schedule movie downloads to occur at midnight etc. I get peak and off peak data so trying to make use of the off peak data without having to stay up till 1am. I tried some apps, like IFTTT but no dice.
Anyone have any workaround?
Also, how do I know whether my camera is suffering from the scratched lens issue? I can't seem to tell.
Regards,
Ishaq

Try a download manager app, such as Advanced Download Manager. I think ADM (and others) has this feature.

If you can't tell, you probably don't have an issue. Once the coating on the lens starts to get scratched (its just the coating coming off, not the glass being scratched), you can actually see the scratches if you look closely at the lens. But more importantly, your photos will start to look cloudy or hazy, a lot like a fingerprint smudge on the lens. And this will increase gradually as the issue gets worse.
Thanks for the response. I downloaded ADM and it works.
I can see some really fine scratches on the lens, almost like dots. However, no noticeable haze in the images.
One more issue. Do you also sometimes suffer from keyboard errors. Sometimes, occasionally I'll open a field to type and instead of the keyboard coming up, it's just a black bar. However, this black bar still reads my keyboard inputs. It's like a glitch in the OS.

If the coating is starting to scratch, it will probably get worse over time until it affects your photos. But no need to worry about it until that happens.

I've heard a couple complaints like that, but I haven't experienced it myself.
Is the phone stock or modded (unlocked bootloader, root, etc.)?
Yeah, I'm completely stock. Native keyboard, no launchers.
It's happened like 5 times in ten days. Usually sorts itself out by exiting whatever application I'm using.

See the black bar problem. But it still reads inputs. Why did it keep doing this?

For a stock phone, you can try a factory reset or to update by OTA (if one is available). Not much else you can do on stock.
You can search around to see if this a common issue on your OS software version (and if there are any other possible fixes). But I don't think so. I've seen maybe one other person mention it, but it doesn't seem like a common problem.
