Hi Guys,
I'm relatively new to Kodi and would like to connect a TV Tuner to my Amazon Fire TV box to watch TV via Kodi. My questions are:
1. is it possible to connect a TV tuner to the Fire TV via the USB port?
2. Does the Fire TV need to be rooted?
3. Which TV tuner(s) is/are compatible with the Fire TV, in particular with Kodi.
I couldn't see a thread or any mention about the Fire TV and TV Tuners having searched through Google and XDA and would rally appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Thanks.
I'd also like to know if this is an option. I am fairly certain that something like the HDHomeRun Extend would work, but its quite a bit more expensive than a usb tuner.
Anyone? Am still looking for someone to reply
Thanks

I'm going to help you bump this because I want to know, too.
I've been searching for days now and the best answer I can come up with is - maybe or probably not. It makes my head hurt. It might increase the possibility by using a tuner known to work with a Raspberry. Hauppauge 1191 WinTV-HVR-950Q ($50 through a third party on Amazon) is among the few and seems to have a margin of better reviews. And since it is supposed to work with he Pi, and I have one collecting dust, I'm going to get one and see if I can make it work with the Fire. Tough either way, I expect to have to jump through hoops (of Fire? to make it happen.
ok i had the fire tv first gen which i sold, the issue i had was that bbc iplayer and other apps would freeze/not buffer until i disconneced kodi/plex often i had to restart for it to work. is this still the case with fire tv 2?
can i put kodi on the homescreen??? ive read that llama doesnt work?
can the amazon fire tv be rooted/jailbroken, any benefits of this
does amazon fire tv 2 have infrared?
can amazon fire tv 2 autoboot to kodi? and if i want to go back to normal apps is that possible i.e. bbc iplayer
i dont use amazon content at all!!
thank you
You can autoboot to Kodi or even better launch it with the home button courtesy of Firestarter. Forget about Llama.
Get this app first:

And load this:

Then get Kodi:

I recommend going straight to the 16 Alpha:

It's all very straight forward.
what about any other issues? is playback smooth faster then the original

It's much improved. Plays everything I've thrown at it.
Navigation is slightly slower with the new remote. There are some outstanding surround sound issues that Amazon has promised to fix.
thanks guys
still waiting delivery i hope there is no buffering/freezing issue if i open two video apps

Just buy a new/used unaltered FireTV or FireTV Stick at the best price possible. Then learn more about sideloading Kodi. (Kodi can be installed on most Android devices, PC's, Mac's, Linux)
Install ES Explorer - http://www.aftvnews.com/es-file-explorer-officially-released-for-the-amazon-fire-tv/ (http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-side...to-the-fire-tv-using-nothing-but-the-fire-tv/)
Install FireStarter v3.2.2 using ES Explorer - https://github.com/sphinx02/FireStarter/wiki/Install-FireStarter-and-Kodi-(only-FireTV-needed)
Install Kodi from FireStarter - http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/themes-apps/app-root-home-launcher-replacement-app-t3118135
Install the best AIO Kodi setup from Kodi - http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/themes-apps/custom-kodi-build-optimized-fire-tv-t3272048
I just ordered an Amazon. Fire Tv. I found a great tutorial on easily side loading Kodi. I plan on doing this and then installing Fusion or Ares Wizard. I want to be able to use this for live tv, movies, sports etc. This is my first go at Kodi. Do you all have any tips or advice or addons that I should be using?

I know lots of questions get asked by us "noobs" but 50+ views and no replies seems a bit odd. I'm just looking to learn how this all works so I can eventually be able to help someone.
Hello guys,
I can't find good source of information about potentially installing Acestream on firestick and working with acestream links to watch tv using the stick. I will be very grateful if you can share some experience.
Thanks in advance!
