Battery charging problem - Samsung Galaxy 551 Callisto

I am a total newbie to cellphones and all other mobile devices. I was given this phone because the camera supposedly would not work. Following is description of the problem.
Background: GT-I5510M with original OS Android v.2.2 No active mobile account. Given to me because of camera malfunction - erratic shutter action, varies from instantaneous to uncertain delay interval.
Charging Problem: charges fine using the Samsung Charge Adapter - AC input, Output: 5v 0.7amp. Also charges fine when connected to USB port on laptop computer and using provided Samsung USB cable.
Does Not Charge: when using AC Adapter (Apple certified type - little white cube ) Output: 5v 1.0 amp. Also will not charge when using automobile 12V to USB adapter, Output: 5v 2.4 amp. (in both cases using Samsung USB cable)
Further Info. - have a Galaxy Note 2 (also with a malfunction), but this phone charges just fine using the same adapters and cable.
Does anyone know what the problem might be??

split micro usb socket in 2

Hi,
I have just bought the galaxy nexus and am wondering if any of you bright bods could think of a way to do this. I have a Fiat bravo with blue and me so use the usb port for media playback, however this does not supply enough power to keep the phone charging if using navigation too. I also have a 750mA 12 volt charger. Is there a cable that would allow me to have both the media player cable connected and the cigarette lighter cable connected at the same time, preferably with d- d+ shorted so that high speed charging would be available as the effective power available should be 1.2A if my thinking is correct

Charge 2 Devices with One USB Cable?

I I am looking to put a little charging station in the storage compartment of my home theater sectional. I really would like to only run one USB cable to charge my devices. I am a bit worried I will not be buying the correct pieces for my needs. I bought a 16ft. pluggable USB cord on Amazon recently, but there seem to be worries that a single USB cable may not provide more than 2.1a.
I would like to charge at least two smartphones (HTC One X and Note 2) at once and at their full charging rate. Assuming that this is even possible, could someone provide me with a wall adapter and USB hub that will work for this? I like the looks of...
PowerGen Dual USB 3.1A 15w Travel Wall Charger
and
AmazonBasics USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra Mini Hub
(I can't post links yet).
If this is an impossible task, what are some other good options? I looked at the Belkin Valet, but it appears too large, and has some issues.
Well a note 2 alone takes more than a standard usb 2.0 cord to charge at full speed. Maybe try a usb 3.0 hub and tablet wall charger. Not 100% sure its possible though

Okay, that makes it sound like I might want to change my mind about this whole one USB cord plan. How about running an extension cord instead of a USB cord, then hooking it up to a dual USB wall charger like this-
Kensington AbsolutePower Dual 2.1A USB Wall Charger (Amazon)
Would that work for two Note 2s?
If it can charge 2 ipads then it can charge 2 note ii's

MHL Adapter first impressions

Bought official Samsung galaxy S3 MHL Adapter from Best Buy... Finally a brick and mortar store had them. Some initial impressions below. Will update if I find anything new. Rooted s3 on stock ROM and interface.
S3 charger with BB cable and on 1080p Panasonic Plasma TV: Worked fine but only showed in 75% of screen (surrounded by black bars above and below). Did not test for lag.
iLuv 3 port charger with BB cable on 760p Panasonic Plasma TV: Worked in fullscreen on TV. S3 slowly lost power watching crackle, Tmobile 3G+, wifi off, plugged in 1amp port, no other devices plugged into charger. Tried same with S3 stock charger and BB cable and phone charges under same conditions.
Update: I bought a Kensington Absolute Power 2 port USB charger to charge an Asus Vivotab Smart and the S3. The charger comes with an adapter for charging tablets at up to 2.1 amps. With adapter, the S3 read around 2000mA which I am afraid would damage the phone,so I plugged it in without the adapter (per instructions). Without the included adapter the phone read around 700mA.
Again, I tried the the Samsung S3 OEM MHL adapter with the Kensington 2.1a USB charger (no adapter) and the phone slowly lost power. I tried this with both the S3 stock USB wire and a Belkin charger+data wire. I tried again with the stock S3 charger (1amp) through the MHL adapter and it charged the phone while viewing. Same Crackle episode, same 3g+ internet, same TV.
I am afraid of trying this setup with the tablet adapter for the charger, as I am afraid it will damage the phone. As a side note, I am using a 3500mAh battery from seidio.
Update: Tried the 2amp charger listed above with adapter. Interesting conclusion... besides having a strong enough power supply, you still need the OEM Samsung charging cable to charge and use MHL adapter at the same time.
In other words, the S3 charging cable with the Samsung S3 MHL adapter will charge the phone. Other cables resulted in a slow loss of power.
Update: Bought a Samsung universal charger listing 0.7 amps. Using the Samsung universal charger cable with 1. the 0.7 amp Samsung wall adapter, the 1.0 Samsung original S3 wall adapter, and Kensington 2.0 amp wall adapter all resulted in charging the S3 while using the MLH adapter with my TV.
In other words, the phone still charged using the Samsung branded 0.7 amp charger cable.

Charging from Laptop USB Port

Morning all,
When I am in the office I have my OGP connected to my laptop's USB port using the USB cable that came with my OGP. Each time my OGP tells me I am slow charging, which I interpret as I am not pulling enough power. Recently I bought a Energizer Energi to Go kit, which has its own USB cable and different tips for charging different type devices. When I use the combination of the micro-USB tip and their USB cable I do not get the same slow charging message from my OGP. I interpret this to mean that I am pulling 2.1 mAh to charge the device quickly.
My question is why wouldnt the USB cable that came with my OGP support this also? Does the cable really determine how much juice I can pull to charge a device?
Thanks,
Steve
USB 2.0 provides 500mah. USB 3.0 provides up to 900mah. They cannot give more than that because they have to comply to the set standards.

Charging Pixel XL by using Laptop is extremely slow

I have got unlimited mobile internet and actually need to connect my mobile to laptop for USB tethering as have limited internet for WiFi tethering. I previously had used many phones but they were charging at good speed when connected with USB ports on laptops but PIxel XL is very slow.
"Charging slowly" = below 1A (at 5V),
"Charging" means between 1A and 1.5A,
"Charging rapidly" means more than 1.5A
I am using Anker USB C (male) to Micro USB Adapter (female) to connect it with usb ports of Laptop. I have usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports on laptop but it dont make any difference and charging is still slow. Is there any way to make it charge faster or even at medium speed between 1A and 1.5A ?
Thank you

I believe that 2.0 is only able to output 500 mAh and 3.0 is 900 mAh.
All the non-charging ports on my PC are 500mAh for the USB 2.0 ports.
It's how it's been with every phone I ever had.
Industry standard for a non charging USB port AFAIK.
Thanks guys for your response
So it dont matter what USB cable you use and it will still be slow charging? Its second time i am using phones that use type c charging.
My previous Samsung phones had normal usb ports and they were charging fine with laptops and charging was not this slow . Is it type c thing that make it slow when you use adaptor to covert type c into micro USB?

It's a placebo. All phones charge at 500mah on a laptop. The Samsungs probably didn't have such big batteries or had better battery life so you felt you were charging your phone less.
You would be better off carrying a quick charging battery pack.
USB 2.0 runs at 500mA at 5v, giving 2.5W
USB 3.0 runs at 900mA, giving 4.5
To put this in perspective, our oem and Google store sold chargers are 18-22 watts.
Very few pc ports (unless specified) will give you decent charging speed. My ECS motherboard has pin outs for quick charging at around 15watts.
Look for some usb hubs with power delivery.
