Good morning ladies & gentlemen,
I'm having an issue where when I listen to Spotify, PocketCast, or any other media player and my audio just suddenly pauses. It will resume play once I hit play the play button. I checked to see if it was bluetooth and that's not the issue it's really frustrating especially when I'm working in my studio and my music just cuts out.
Does it happen when your screen goes off? or random?
Just random times.

Does media on the internal or sdcard storage do this? If not then it's your network connection and may not even be caused by the Note 7 at all. Try local media and see if it still happens.

I play my MP3's from my phone and stream without issue. Check your network.
I was noticing this with the screen off using Pandora on wifi. It would mostly do this between songs then if I woke screen it would start again. Very annoying. Never had this issue on any other Samsung device. It's either a deep sleep issue with Pandora, wifi or ram management.

If you are streaming them, make sure Power Saver is not on (or atleast the background network option).
If not, try clearing Cache from recovery (stock or twrp), try again. If it continues, clear cache/data from Settings>Applications>Music

I noticed that on my previous S7 Edge. It ended up being Greenify. It was putting my phone into doze too aggressively, and pausing the music playback.

I'll see if that's the issue with my note 7 I'll see if it's still pausing whenever I get my new note.

My Note has been perfect. I do NOT use Greenify, however.

Is anybody experiencing audio distortion with google music and 4.0.4?
It happens a lot (3-4 times during a song) and it sounds the same as a scratched CD (it sorta "hangs" on part of a song for a few seconds).
This is not the same as screen off distortion issue that was reported earlier by a lot of people. This one happens both when I am using the phone and when the screen is off.
Not happening here. Does it only happen when streaming (not stored music)? And is this on WiFi or 3G?

Both wifi and 3g. I doubt it's network related beacause the app shows that the song is fully buffered. Even if I go to the begining of a cached song it still happens.
i experienced similar behavior couples times with screen on playing long track/radio podcast/mix(stored internally) running 4.0.2(google music version was 4.1.512 - before updated logo) while gnex was connect to car aux, but i haven't be able to replicate it again.
Happens sometimes. Doesn't matter whether its local or streaming, but it seems related to the phone locking up or running out of RAM/CPU usage. Something along those lines because whenever it happens (rarely) the entire phone skips or locks up for a second.

You might be right. It does appear to happen more often when doing heavy multitasking.
It's kinda unusable for me right now because it's happening so lot.
Already a thread somewhere for this. But I do have the issue as well. As stated it doesn't matter if its streaming or local. Had it happen on cm9 an aokp. Also without heavy multitasking

Thanks for the confirmation guys. It seems like I'm a lot more affected by this issue than the most of you.
Do you mind sharing your rom/kernel/governer/freq settings? maybe we can find a common ground?

That's interesting. I'm on lean interactivex. I'll try switching to on demand and see what happens.

Are your mp3s encoded in the 48khz range? If so it's a bug in the google music player which cause it to 'lag' while it decode the mp3 file, no problems on mp3s in the 44khz range. Dunno about the new ver of google music player haven't try it and don't intend to after i migrate to Poweramp.

Interesting. I just checked and I have about 20 48khz songs. I'm not sure if they are the ones that get distorted. I'll keep an eye on those tracks. Thanks!
This has bugged me for the longest time. *Hopes for a fix*
Just go for Poweramp. It's worth the money and it can play 48khz mp3s silky smooth. Just remember to set the options to 'Highest Thread Priority' and '750ms' buffers. There's a 14 days full features trial version, download it and have a try.
All of my songs are 44khz.
It hasn't happened on 4.0.4 yet.

For those that are having issues when the screen goes off, the following worked for me.
When a song is playing, go to the top of the screen to the "..." and select sound effects. Turn on the Equalizer to whatever you want and it should work much better for you.

Exactly.
I'll try the sound effects thing as long as it doesn't interfere with DSP manager
Edit: lol it takes me directly to DSPmanager which is already enabled.

So this has been happening over the last 2 or 3 days, and it's getting pretty annoying.
Sometimes when I am listening to music, the playback will just stop as if I've paused the music.
This has happened 4 times today, in different situations.
First, I was listening to a podcast in the stock ICS music player while making breakfast, and the playback stopped 3 times. Each time, the phone was in my pocket, and the screen was locked.
The fourth time, I was listening to some music using Poweramp while texting a friend, and the song I was listening to randomly stopped again.
Any idea what's causing this?
Probably a rogue app. I was having the same problem with RocketPlayer, and it turned out the offending app was CBC Music. Even though I hadn't opened it in days, for whatever reason it thought it needed to steal audio focus periodically to resume a stream. The result was spontaneous random pauses. You can try installing alogcat, and next time it happens, filter the log for "focus" or "audio" or "media" - I forget what I used - and you should find a hint as to the culprit.

This used to happen to me pre 4.0.4. Since then I haven't had an issue.

AHA, I JUST installed CBC music before this started to happen!
I'll uninstall it now and see if that fixes it!
It definitely stopped after I uninstalled that bugger. Clearly the cuts at the CBC have been deleterious enough that they had to go with the lousiest programmers they could find!

Had I seen your post originally from a full browser rather than Tapatalk, I would have noticed your CDN location and then CBC would have been even more likely a candidate
I actually have this problem with certain headphones that started it of no where. I found that I had to unplug then a little bit so that they aren't completely plugged in and then it's working fine again.
If any of you are on lean kernel...
I've documented and provided logcats...which were confirmed by quite a few users.

In recent (3.8+, I believe) builds...imoseon updated his sound control mods (courtesy of ezekeel, so Glados may have the same problem?).
HQ audio seems fine for all users, myself included.
But the sound boost mod causes the headphones to think they're being unplugged.
Low boost (for me) allows my headphones to work.
Medium and it'll cut out in a couple minutes.
High and it'll cut out within a minute.
Highest and it cuts out instantly.
This is ONLY on certain headphones, as well.
Actually, all of my headphones (five that I've tested) are fine.
But if I have sound boost enabled and plug in my AUX cord...it cuts out.
Strange stuff!
And the developers seem not to care too much, sadly...
But for me I just disable sound boost an all is well. So no harm no foul, I suppose.

Haven't tried it yet, but I'll be on the bus for a few hours soon, so that will give me plenty of test time
EDIT: Problem fixed, stupid CBC!
I also had this problem after I installed the CBC Music application. Just uninstalled it and we'll see if that fixes it.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.
My music playback gets really choppy when my phone is "asleep" (i.e., display is turned off). Otherwise, like when I'm browsing the web or doing anything else with my phone (i.e., display is turned on and phone is not "asleep"), music playback is flawless. This is really annoying! No, it's not my microSD card since the same problem exists when playing music from my phone memory.
Help :crying: I really love my Note 2 but this is driving me crazy! I've been using my phone as a music player since the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic days. This is the first time I'm encountering such an annoying problem! This can't be happening...on a quad core phone in 2012?!
no problem whatsoever here :cyclops:
what's ur Rom? kernel ?
Dude. Who listens to music while they're sleeping? J/k.
Are you streaming? Then you might need to get the high performance WiFi widget app. It puts your WiFi into high performance mode rather low power mode while screen is off.
If not streaming, is there a wake lock or high priority option in your music player? That might need to be ticked to get your music as a higher priority.
I have never had this problem so I don't know if this will solve your issue but it is a place to start. Could possibly be something else taking up more resources or higher priority and you need to solve that issue.

I'm on stock ROM, rooted.
I think I may have found the problem, or at least the source of the problem. Live wallpapers. When I switched to "static" wallpapers, no more skipping/choppiness.
By the way, this isn't with music streaming. This is with music files on the phone/microSD card. I'm currently using the stock music player app, although I have tried using third party music apps and I can say that the problem still exists...
Just sad that it seems I'm alone with this issue. Meh, LWPs just drain the battery anyway. Static wallpaper it is.
Do you have Cpu sleeper installed on your phone. I had similar problems before I uninstalled thst
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
This happens to me occasionally even without a live wallpaper.
I think it's the kernel governor. Pegasus q seems to be the one I have the most problems with. I think it attempts to make the phone deep sleep even though music is playing.
Same here
I have the same problem: while screen is off music is chopped!
It was not like this all the time, just for the past month. I use stock ROM, not rooted. It does not matter what app I use to listen to music with or whether it is on built in memory or an SD card, the problem persists.
Does anyone has a solution for this problem, it drives me mad!
It happens to me too...but not all time...it just suddenly stops and resumes like if it were ram leak problem...
Pd: my note is 100% stock 4.3.
The only reason this happened to me was the music player somehow got killed by the system when the phone was put to sleep.. There's no workaround only one being using 3rd party players like I do.. I have a legit copy of shuttle plus and poweramp.. Both work flawless..

Sometimes (3-4 times out of 10), when I connect my phone to my cars Bluetooth, it will automatically start playing the LG Music that's on the device (Life's good or something like that).
I have smart settings set to load pocket casts when I connect, which does happen, but this other music starts playing too.
Any ideas how I can stop this?
Cheers

I think it's playing the last song you played, or the first song you have in your playlist (alphabetically) if you rebooted the phone since the last time..
In case you don't want the LG Music app to launch when you connect your cars Bluetooth you have to disable the app and use another one.
I had the same issue and did exactly like danw84 stated. Disable the app under System Settings->Apps and you'll be good to go.
While listening to music on my op3, it randomly skips ahead songs, even in the middle. Usually it skips about 1-3 songs. This happening to anybody else?
I mostly use rocket player and sometimes google play music, happens in both.
Now that you mention it I think I have the same issue. I thought I had just a few bad downloaded mp3s. I will have to keep an eye now. FWIW...I am using rooted 3.2.2 stock and have viper4android installed.

I have that happen every once in a while in Google Play Music when I'm streaming music, I've chalked it up to the app/service vs. the phone since it's happened across various ROMs I've flashed. Not familiar with Rocket, so I can't weigh in on that.
Probably unrelated to your situation, but when I had this happen recently it was because I had the forward/back gestures turned on in the settings, and I was unknowningly drawing the gestures ( < and > )on the display when the screen was off, causing the skipping.

I have the same problem with song skipping and am currently using Pi music player but songs still skip using Google play music player. I have a one plus 3t which I purchased last month and am wondering what is the best fix for this problem? I have heard that it may be something to do with the Kernel so am wondering when will one plus release a fix for this?
