Hi, wanted to know if it possible to root a T700 (running lollipop) without a PC?
I need just root and don't care about Knox.
The tablet is in another home (another city) and I can connect to it with team viewer remote control as I do every time I need to configure something on it.
The person that using it, doesn't understand anything in rooting and doesn't have a PC but need root for some apps.
So, any advice how to do it remotely ?

Nope, not going to happen. You need a PC with Odin.
Are you sure?
What about Kingroot?

I used kingroot apk on my stock T800 on kitkat and lollipop and it rooted without any problems, just leave wifi enabled while it`s running.
John.
Thanks for the answer. After digging, I understand that only Kingroot can do what I want.

I have the Optimus S, a few days ago there was an update to the phone that seemed to overwrite many files, as well as made changes.
It also unrooted the phone in the progress.
So when I went to re-root the phone using Z4root it hangs or fails.
Tried installing and re-installing and still fails.
When booting app Z4root it says temp root, perm root and unroot options.
Also mentions that device already has SU binary.
Any ideas on a fix for this.
Thanks for any help.
Just something that I noticed.
Super user is still installed on phone, but thinking maybe an uninstall of that and reroot may work.
Not really sure.
Also I am not sure how to uninstall it.
Go under apps and remove from there. Should let you. Also most updates I've had on my multiple android phones took root off or in the case of my current Galaxy S Vibrant it soft bricked my phone. Always good to take off root before updating as a precaution but that's up to you. Try removing then reapplying one click root and if that doesn't work you can maybe find a one click root from PC or get the update.zip file for root and install manually on phone like I did for galaxy. Can Google it. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Its listed under apps but uninstall is unavailable, only thing that is available is clear data.
I uninstalled Z4root from phone and reinstalled VIA SD card , because its off the android market. and no luck, gives me a option to temp root, perm root, and unroot. Every time it looks for the exploit it lags out .
Did this before posting here,
havent tried trying a different root option, but my guess is if they patched the exploit it just simply will not work atm.
Yeah I read last galaxy s vibrant T-Mobile 2.2 update gave ppl probs with the z4 app as well. Ill try looking up alternative method for optimus s and if I find something before sleep I will post it.

I know that the Galaxy S and the Optimus seem to end up with same problems a lot, from what I have searched for , and seen with rooting and modifying.
So if you come across anything for the Galaxy it will probably work with the Optimus.
I will keep searching as well, and post if I find anything.
Search these boards for superoneclick says it works on basically all froyo phones. Need windows pc with. Net framework installed. Instructions were all in the thread tho. Xda forum app wouldn't let me post link to thread or I dunno how in app. Try that and let me know.

Tried superoneclick and it failed, everything looked good on install but when going back to phone , and trying Titanium backup. it says could not get root privileges.
Did Rageagainstthecage exploit.
One thing I notice is superuser cannot uninstall, thought maybe redoing that may do the trick. Uninstall is greyed out on app listing
Was gonna say look up terminal adb commands but you need su. Id just odin flash it stock or rom it personally but that's your call.

Seems as though the problem is the last update actually "fixed" so it unroots the Optimus, no way to re-root atm.
Waiting now, I am sure someone will find a way to re-root.
VC has to be downgraded to V8 then upgraded to V9 then upgraded to the VC using LG's software update (NOT the OTA variant). There are details here:

Just something that I noticed.
hey i just figured it out that when we use apps like z4root to root mobiles n then something happens in middle or afterwards(like updates) when phone is rooted
It kills n overwrite those rooted files ... now those files are left in memory n u can not get rid of it until u format ur cell phone
Hello my names Aaron, I rooted my galaxy tab 3 (sm-t217s) a little bit ago then unrooted just because my wifi wasnt turning on.. I had to do a stock restore through odin to get it all working again. When I did that I got the new kitkat update and gladly updated it. Now again though I want to root it so I can again do all the great things you can do with rooting!
So my questions are:
Can I root it running 4.4.2 the same way I did when I was running 4.2.2? Will it brick it if I just put on a custom recovery the same way as before and let that install superSU?
I would just like to know and if not then is there another way currently to root it?
I couldnt find anything about it that is why I am posting about it.. must not be a very common tablet?
Anyways thanks for your time and help!

Either use towelroot to root from within android or you can still flash twrp from Odin and root that way. Twrp may set warranty bit, mine was was already tripped so I can't say dor sure if it does.

I used towelroot on my tablet, it does what it has to do. Does not reboot, but when I use Root Checker it says that I do not have root.....any suggestions?
I was rooted with towel root fine under the June 2014 update to 4.4.2, but I mistakenly took the update to NH4 while rooted. My device seems to be fine, but I lost root and Towel root will not seem to root me again, no way, no how. My warranty bit is clean, and I don't want to trip it, but I'd love to have root back. Is there anyything I can do on NH4 from within Android to get root back? TIA
How did you do an unroot through Odin and which version of Towelroot did you use to root it again? I have the same tablet.
I have SM-T217S running Kitkay 4.4.2. I've tried almost every root app there is (Kingo, Towel, ect.). They all say my device isn't compatible. And when I go to update under settings, it says that my device is running unauthorized software and that I need to use Samsung kies to flash. But it has no root & no custom software, everything is normal. I have tried using computer to root but still nothing. What could I do to fix it?
Hello XDA,
Think odin and my rooting process is messed up. Not my 1st device i have rooted or moded (Note 1/2/tablets). Watching XDA video and have XDA link open. Doing this step by step, and started odin and the process, my device in odin states downloading do not turn off. Status is at 5% for 30 minutes now. Running LP on AT&T, on the odin app it states...?
Firmware update start...
recovery img.
and above the ID Com there in no status bar????
sincerely,

I'm not sure what you are doing but let me clear some things up for you. There is no permanent root for the ATT Note 4. There is only a temp root for Kitkat.
If you need to downgrade to KK, then in the general forum there are some files that you can download and use them in Odin. It requires 4 files.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, I may have to downgrade. Need to root in order to use sixaxis controller app with a PS3 controller. Which i have done on my other samsung devices no problem. But you are right, no darn root possibility for ATT Note 4 on LP. That was the hold up...
Much Appreciated,

I need to know if it's possible to root my T-Mobile Note 3 Root Note 3 (N900TUVUFOB6) with Android 5.0 without using a computer. I would obviously want to put some form of custom recovery on it. Any help would be much appreciated.
I would say this is not possible seeing as you have to transfer files over to the phone via the computer .
Not sure whichis the correct way to root Note 3 with Android 5 installed.
Thanks. I thought there might be a one click program like Kingsport. But that says it's not supported . Now looking for anyway to root the phone secessfully. any help would be much appreciated
I've seen ways with kingroot or kingoroot but personally I'm rather leary of the sources been alot of speculation that they are not legit so use at your own risk Odin and a pc with cf-autoroot was the most trusted route I found
Information on kingroot, here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
I've heard horror stories with people using Kingroot.
Mobile Odin Pro is the best way to do anything like this to the Note 3 if not using a computer. It can be used to flash CF-Auto-Root, TWRP recovery, different basebands, Odin flashable firmwares, and virtually anything else that can be flashed with Odin on a computer. It's a very handy mobile tool to have.

I have read that you can actually root the US Note 7 a few places. I have not tired it yet because I have heard that Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Galaxy Gear Fit 2 do not work with a rooted S7. How much truth is there, and is there a possibility of any of them working in the future?

You can flash the Sprint userdebug.tar on any Snapdragon model and root it without tripping Knox / voiding your warranty, but Samsung Pay / Android Pay will not work. This has been a known Samsung sacrifice for a very long time, so this is something you will always have to sacrifice.
All root apps work, but there is no custom recovery, and you can use FlashFire for that.
There is 99% certainty that Knox/Pay will never work with root, since it completely deminishes the security of these delicate features. It would be like eventually giving everyone a master key to your wallet.
P.s. I've successfully rooted my N930W8 (Canadian) flashing the sprint userdebug.tar and then following the root guide found in that sub forum. Everything works but Hotspot. If anyone knows of a fix let me know!
Can someone explain to me how to unroot? My capacitive buttons are no longer working for some reason.
I've already downloaded the stock firmware, but I'm not sure exactly how to flash. Could probably mess around with it and figure it out, but I really don't want to screw up.
If someone could explain how to unroot via Odin and, if possible, via TWRP it would be much appreciated.

Do you possibly know about the Gear App and the Gear Fit 2?
I have also read about suhide, but that looks like it needs a custom recovery right now. I mostly want to root to get rid of some bloat on the phone.

You can use Package Disabler Pro for that without root. I used for months with unrooted samsung phones, no problems at all.
Also, you can flash suhide with FlashFire and use Terminal to configure it.
I personally havent used suhide, but I understand how it works, and since FlashFire is pretty much a custom recovery, theres no reason why it shouldnt work. Only difference is if you are using the Sprint root, you would have to reflash ssu the manual way after flashing suhide, which at this point would be easier to do everything through adb.

I'm trying. I've not had much luck using Jodin3 (the Mac version of Odin) so I'm using Heimdall and the firmware is flashing it seems, but I can't get my Note to boot past the "Samsung Galaxy Note7, Powered by Android" screen.

Can anyone help me? A link for the said Mac version of Odin and some instructions on how to do the root. If anyone can figure out how to get it working properly, that would be amazing.
