I have an LG G3 D850 currently on Fulmics 5.2. I have never had this issue before but maybe someone here has run accross it. 2 Days ago I realized that my phone was not picking up my SD card memory. Today I decided to check it out to see what it was. First, I tried it on another phone and it picks it up just fine. All my files are there so it is not the SD card itself. I then thought maybe something got corrupted on the rom I am using but when I booted into recovery, it doesnt pick it up either. Could it be that the SD card reader on my phone is fried? What can I do to pin it down to the exact problem?

can still be the sd card backup your sd card and format to ntfs then to fat 32 on pc and see if that helps, also try a different sd card if you can. from personal experience a newly bought 128 gb wouldn't pick up until i formatted to a different filesystem than the fat series, or try a low level wipe on the sd card (extra careful with this one 1 pass only first 100,000 sectors)

But the weird thing is that I have been using this SD card for over a year now without a problem. So the first thing I thought was that the problem was with the SD card card until I put it into another phone and everything showed up fine. So the problem seems to be with my phone, either related to hardware or software.
To try your idea of the backup and format, what method do you recommend?

Do you 'safely remove' the card before removing it from your PC?

Yes I did, I have actually never taken it out of my phone all along, I only just took it out now to format on the pc as it wouldnt format on the desire, now windows is unable to complete the format, what other software can i use to force a format...
I had this exact issue with a cheapo 16gb memory card. I now use a branded 8gb and no problems at all. I had lost all photos and maps for copilot and decided enough was enough. Not sure if Android is not too happy with 16gb or the fact it was a cheap card.
I now use a Samsung class 6 8gb card. Works perfect.

You can format straight from the phone's settings
Goto settings>>SD & phone storage>> ... First choose Unmount SD card, then Format SD card, it will automatically remount it.

Interestingly this is the sandisk 4gb card that came with the phone from Tmobile, so its shouldnt be a problem. I guess though

I did try to try to format on the phone but after formating it does not mount the card back to the phone. and I took it out and try to do it on a pc even try using the panasonic SD formatter but still will not format.
What do you reckon guys send it back to tmobile.. or what?
Yeah, if the panasonic formatter fails, Id send it back. I had a similar problem a long time ago with a SanDisk card and they were happy to replace it.
Yeah...thanks for that, just spoken to tmobile and they will put another in the post for me...
I've been dealing with this exact issue as well. Very frustrating. I had a 16GB SD card in my G2 and photos would intermittently disappear then reappear a few days later. I got an Amaze with a 32GB card and it does the same damn thing. Any suggestions?
Ok. Here is the scenario. Was on stock rooted LCJ. SD card working perfectly there. I flash to MIUI after doing a totally clean wipe and I'm able to access the SD card via the rom and PC when I sync. I go into recovery and do a full wipe and then flash CM10 with gapps. CM10 loads up okay but i notice that i have a notification that the SD card is broken and I should try formatting it. I attempt to sync the phone to the pc via USB cable but only the internal storage will mount.
I go into recovery and confirm that TWRP can still see the contents of the SD card. Having confirmed that TWRP can see the SD card I do another full wipe and then restore my stock rooted LJC. However, after restoring LJC the SD card issue persist. The phone does an error check but it doesn't fix the issue. It recommends that I format the SD card which I don't want to do and don't know if it will work. I attempt to sync the phone to the PC with the USB cable (which has always worked) but only internal will mount. Go into recovery and the SD card's contents are still showing up.
Also, I have a Kingston Media reader which I pop the SD card into and connect to the PC. Even using this media reader the SD card is still not being seen and the PC says the card should be formatted. Basically the only damn thing that recognizes stuff on the SD card is TWRP.
Anyone have any good advice on this topic? BTW...I have a class 10 64GB sd card. As mentioned above I never ever had a problem with this thing. Have always mounted it to the PC w/o a problem and has always appeared on every rom I have ever tried until trying CM10 today.
41 views and not one person has any input? guess i'm going to have to format the card and hope that works. really sucks balls. wish i at least knew for sure what caused this problem.
had the exact same issue. I had just purchased a sandisk 64 gig the week before and when it happened I had a hard time believing it was the card that went bad. I had no luck recovering anything off of the card but did format it and it has worked fine since.

its not the card...............its the formatting of the card. it has to be formatted fat32 for it to be recognized in cm10. stock format is exFAT
I had the same issue with my SanDisk 64 GB drive. I went back to Synergy and the card is recognized in that ROM. I can't get CWM or TWRP to recognize the card though. I get an error whenever I try to access the card from recovery. It sucks that I have to put anything I want to flash on internal memory
Hi there.
I'm having problems with the SD card, is always unmounting with no apparent reason...
When I'm on the Album (or gallery) and I scroll trough the photos (I've got a few) the card is unmounted and I need to take it of, and put it back in...
While I'm copying files from the PC to the card (trough the phone) the same thing happens...
The card is a sandisk class 10 32Gb... it was used on my SGS2 and never had any problem...
Does it worth to buy another card, or someone else is having the same problems?
I think this is a problem with your sd card. I don't have any problem like that.
Can you please tell me what card do you have?
I have already formatted the card on the pc and on the phone, the result is the same...
Weird problem, I own a Goodram 32 GB Class 10 micro sd card and I haven't got any problems with it. You say that you have tried formatting the card. What format have you chosen? Have you tried reset to factory reset your device? Are you on some custom rom or the stock one? Do you have a possibility to check wheter the problem exists with other micro sd card? Perhaps you can borrow it from someone for a moment or you have another one somewhere. Worst case scenario the card port could be damaged.

I have a Kingston microSDHC 32GB, Class 4 :good:
Hi,
I'm sure that's an issue with your sd card. I've had the same issue with my old SGS3 and an SanDisk 64GB sd card. Then I bought a new Kingston 64GB sd card and it works.
I formated in FAT and in FAT32, same result in both.
Im in the stock ROM, totally unchanged.
I already get a new card and I'm testing it now, if it stills get me troubles I will try the factory reset.
Yeah... that is my fear... that the port is defective or something like that
Ok, updating from the previous post.
I've bought another SD Card and although that on the first time that I used it on the phone, it gave me the same behavior, after formatted it on the phone itself, so far so good.
I've tried the old SD Card with an adapter on the pc, and it works fine, no problem at all... so it must be something specific to the phone, I've read that some Samsung are a SD card eaters, so I believe that the problem is related to that (my previous phone was a SGS2).
Thank you all for the tips.

Not necessarily.
Card of class 4 may be good enough for your computer, specially if it is older too, but may be too weak for newest modern phone.

An SD card can't be 'too weak'

I recently bought my LG G4 and for the most part, I love it. I have run into a problem. When I insert my SD card and I use the phone's camera to take pictures the phone seems to become unable to read the SD card anymore. I wanted to see if the SD card was broken, so I put it in another phone and the phone seemed to work just fine. My computer seems to also be able to read the SD card. When I insert the SD card back into the G4, the G4 acknowledges the SD card was inserted, but won't let me access the partition (I think it's not being mounted properly or maybe the phone has problems with exFat partitions).
I've also tried formatting the SD card using the phone which results in a partition size 0.3 GB.
So far the only fix seems to be formatting it on my computer, but as soon as I use the camera, the SD card is messed up on the G4 again. Any ideas?
might aswell ask for a refund and get this one. i used this card on my g3 and g4, both phones see it fine with no issues

i still have the card and it works great. i can add music, videos, pics and have lg g4 camrea strore pic in the card by default
hope this helps
I have the same card as above and also have no problems.

I tried partitioning the card using the Fat32Formatter, but the phone was not able to recognize the fat32 partition. The phone wanted an exFat partition by the look of it. It also formatted the card to 0.3GB again.
The SD Card that I'm using is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313375
Also, like I said, the card seems to be working on every other device that I've put it in since I've started having this problem on my G4.

Try filling the card up with data on a device that can read it. I've been reading that many of the larger cards are actually smaller cards that fake their size. When you try to write more data to it, it overwrites old but undeleted files.
Even some of the 128Gb cards T-Mobile sent out were counterfeit according to SanDisk. There's a thread on it in the G4 forums.
Turns out it really was the SD card. I inserted a new one into the phone and the new one seemed to work. I'm surprised that if the card was really corrupted that it worked in other devices (a Samsung Galaxy S4 and my laptop).
I'm having a problem with this brand new 32GB kingston canvas select micro sd card. Bought it for my dad, he's using a 100% stock G5. When first plugged in, the phone asked if the card was going to be used for internal or external storage, chose internal because my dad is kind of an app maniac (yeah, I know, tried to get him to stop but he's stubborn), formatting stopped at 30% for 10 minutes. Rebooted the phone, it stopped recognizing the sd card. Tried it on my phone, which is also using a 32GB kingston sd, and it didn't recognize it either, on the PC it works fine. Tried formatting it to every file system known to man and none of the phones will even know there's an sd card plugged in when using that particular sd card, but both will work fine with other cards. Could someone give me a hand with this?
I would use minitool (windows) or gparted (Linux)
Delete all partitions on sdcard
Create a new fat32 primary partition and format it

thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. it's as if the micro sd isn't even inserted into the phone, yet on pc it works perfectly. it even passed hw2test!

Other than factory resetting the phone or trying a different sd card there's nothing else you can do
