Let the discussion begin

Hopefully this will no show stopper -> No Nougat on smartphone with Snapdragon 800/801 see e.g. here and here

Oppo must be relieved. No more criticism about their awful software support. Now you can blame android.

Let's hope so... It would be a shame not to get N on our devices...

interessting article - Android 7.0 and the Snapdragon 800 — a conundrum

Hummm... OnePlus 1 that have the same SoC has Find7 already have an experimental Android N build... The few main questions here is about if there any CM N builds, since Qualcomm wont delievery any drivers for 801 socket...
CM will support Find7 with Android N?????
If there any AOSP/CM you can have the full potential of the software graphic drivers...????
EDIT: IT seems CM will support Find7s/a on Androind N (CM 14) :highfive: :good:

Not only abv is written at the end of May, this "source" is bare of any facts regarding the problem.
There's a lot of rumor about the fact that Qualcomm's Adreno 300 probably wouldn't support the new Vulkan-Graphics-Interface of
Nougat; since Google hasn't published the Compatibility Defnition Document (CCD) yet, nobody REALLY knows - it will stay a rumor until it's released.
It's very unlikely that CM would work on a solution for "old" devices for which development they cannot pay for (since they don't have the resources - and who is going to pay them back?). They simply couldn't finance it - and economically it wouldn't make sense - even if they could.
It's very unlikely that Qualcomm would invest into new drivers etc, since they don't sell the "old stuff" anymore - what would be their return on investment for this?
Last but not least, the device manufacturers as key accounts would'n push Qualcomm to go for it - since they want to sell new devices (which are being supported), and customers would drop their old phones (maybe) earlier to buy a new one.
If the rumor should be confirmed at the end - the only one to blame is Google. Up to day, they haven't developed a reliable strategy to stop the fragmentation of
this OS. At least that's the very reliable and solid fact. And unfortunately, the only one.

I'll upload tmr mornimg. It's almost 4am here.
This rom has some bugs. First, you need to remove dpmservices or disable it (known issue for opo too) to avoid continuous fc. Second, for gapps you need to manually enable all permission for google play services to avoid fc. Last, camera is not working in this build. I cannot find any workaround for this.
Ps. This rom does not support f2fs, ext4, ntfs for SDcard (exFat not tested).
Ps2. Except broken camera, everything is working smooth.
Ps3. I have no idea about battery life since I've just install it for a few hours.

Hello,
I did the same fastboot commands and fingerprint start working, but actually now I'm facing another issue, my screen doesn't turn on for a while, when I received any notifications while the screen is locked. However, it works fine when the screen is just turned off, but not locked.

Great rom, been using the 20-Jul build for a week now and it works flawlessly.. only had trouble with the fingerprint sensor, at first it was completely missing, but got it back and working by flashing MIUI8 before flashing this rom.. it seems that it needs some files from MIUI so avoid wiping system, although this may be fixed already in new builds, I can't say..
Anyway great rom great work, updating to latest build.. thanks again developers and builder!

I feel that the picture quality is the same. Actually I kind of prefer the cm camera app since it has more options and is easier to configure. I experienced some lag on one of the builds but it seems to be fixed now.
The reason why the difference is massive on Sony phones is because of the bravia engine which is proprietary and cannot be integrated into CM or AOSP. This should not be an issue on the Mi 5.

Why ask when the post above yours has this info? Please read previous posts BEFORE clogging the thread with this stuff.
Been testing this build for almost 24 hours and no random reboots or anything of that nature. For such an early Oreo build, this build is very decent. Main issues I've found so far
-camera broken
-flashlight not working (probably because of the camera)
-auto rotation is very slow a majority of the time.
With the way vache has been progressing with Oreo, I'm sure these things will be fixed sooner than later!
Can you easily restore a TWRP backup after flashing Oreo? Or does it make any changes which makes reverting to Nougat hard?

Yes you can revert easily. It doesn't make any changes to filesystem so it's easy as just flashing.
Went ahead and installed Oreo on my G5Plus.
Literally impressed, this being a first version and everything. Ended up installing all the applications I usually have on my phone - including root access. Everything went smooth and I didn't encounter any problems. Basically I will use it as a daily driver.
What doesn't work:
* camera
* FM Radio App
* Proximity sensor during calls - screen doesn't turn off by itself
Annoyances - unrelated to development, but more overall Oreo experience:
* not that easy to remove navbar
* all the settings are rearranged so, it's hard to find anything at first
* data usage option - hard to discern between the two SIMs
Don't know yet how battery life is - will get back to you guys.

Hi, this is CarbonoidOS by CarbonROM.
These are pre-release builds that are meant for public testing. It is released under the CarbonoidOS name to differentiate itself from official CarbonROM builds. Please read up as much as you can before posting any questions in this thread.
For those that follow us, you know that we have been grinding since the hour the first few Android Pie repositories dropped. The Core-Team, ROM, and device developers have been collectively working on getting private builds up to our release standards, which we are still far from. I have been specifically working on feature bring up, a link to my progress will be somewhere below. Although I have been running these builds as my daily driver, I do not recommend these builds to the average user. Flash at your own risk, but try to have fun.
Disclaimer:
These builds are considered personal and are not sanctioned by CarbonROM. They include Google Apps and have not been tested with any other packages, aside from the TWRP installer. There will be bugs. The point of these builds is not to solve device side bugs, but to give a sneak peek of what the features of cr-7.0 will be. These builds are different from the unofficial builds that will be posted later. You will not be able to transition to those builds from these without clean flashing.
When posting bug reports, do:
Provide details of additional modifications
Provide any logs possible
But don't:
Leave any of the above out
Post without reading the whole OP
Quote the whole OP
Expect me to address any bug reports
Tag me in bug reports thinking I'll address them
If you don't follow these simple guidelines I will probably ignore you.
Known bugs (not working):
None that I know of

This is a good ROM, a fix for the camera is to uninstall the camera and download the APK of the google camera.

Somehow back camera works for snap tho.
Thanks G!!!!
The only issue I had was some pretty consistent crashing of ambient display... however if I let the phone reboot and waited for the system to time out/screen off (at Boot by itself) and then powered up/unlocked it would work without incident.
Everything.. Bluetooth-GPS-Calls-Data-NFC works. Very smooth and I can't wait to see the finished product. I try not to post too much, but really I need to say Thank You.

Thanks for your kind words! Off topic: @deedwar has been an amazing help to me. and taught me a lot. I just am a simple builder. Other devs, including OP, have answered questions too. I still am building, behind the scenes. OP is certainly awesome for dropping the first Pie build, as I'm aware of!

Custom ROMs?

Hi. Is it worth hoping for custom ROMs for this device?
Nope, there aren't and I think never will be...

Why say so? Phone is less than two months old and yet to be launched in India. Working TWRP came out today so with time, there will be custom Roms. My main problem is why disable fingerprint function after bootloader is unlocked. Well, custom ROMs can fix that but some people will still love to use rooted stock Rom with fingerprint functionality
On custom rom the fp will also not fixed.
We use vendor blobs. We have to trace which files will use by fingerprinter and then how we can crack or disable check L1.

yes, this rom is working fine on RMX1992 and RMX1993,
you have to flash it with ColorOS Vendor if you are on realmeUI, and I haven't tested it for RMX1991 yet.
and also NFC will not work for CN&EU variant. there are also LineageOS 17.1 and CDroid 5.12 rom available for testers.
and the developers will make the official XDA forum when ROM is Stable in everything. you can also join TEL#GR#M group for the latest updates and beta testing. dm for link
Get lost with that ****ty telegram groups. As far as i tested, fingerprint is far from ok, and light sensor not working. Post it here, and get real feedback.

developers are working hard for Realme X2 development and you are calling it ****ty. then let me tell you if someone doing hard work then you should at least appreciated it because that Person taking his/her personal time for Free Custom ROMs for the community and the latest update has fixed fingerprint delay and other minor bugs also added march security patch.
Well, i saw that telegram group - why don't you post here on XDA? I appreciate work of any developer, but in my opinion exporting all communication to telegram means, that all flaws, bricks and any troubles of testers leave them alone, without any help. Maybe you can tell me - what was the purpose of that?

even right now no one takes responsibility if someone bricks his phone or memory card. and for the forum,
the developers will post it on XDA but right now developers can't post anything without working kernel and tree, right now they are fixing kernel issues and bugs. next month they gonna make 3 forums one for Lineage second for Crdroid and third for Pixel E rom. SO wait will be worth it
It's obvious, that none of developers aren't responsible for bricks etc, but i'm my opinion, when someone post anything on XDA, devs feel responsible to solve any bugs, development process is faster due to lots od feedback from testers. I know, that nowadays, most of people here are focused on getting something, are not interested on testing, especially on early-risky stages. As you can see, I tested almost all versions of avaible ROM for this phone, so please don't get me wrong. Fingers crossed for those devs

ProtonAOSPAndroid 12 ROM for Pixel 2 - Maintained by @EnesSastim
Spoiler: SPECIAL THANKS TO
@Lunarixus on XDA (using his device tree, mentorship, and fixes. Wonderful work)
@RealOkabe on XDA for his build process, we only reached bootable state thanks to his work.
@ReallySnow on XDA for his work on Android 12 vendor. I consider him my teacher, and most of the Android 12 heavy lifting was done by him.
None of this would've happened without them.
ProtonAOSP is a minimal Android fork (custom ROM) focused on UI/UX and performance, with a touch of privacy.
Screenshots are attached.

Installation
This ROM is currently distributed as OTA zips. Flash it the same way you would, in a custom recovery. Don't forget to wipe all data using "fastboot -w" or using my tool before booting the ROM.

Any news about this rom on walleye?
Thank you!!
Yes waiting for the walleye support
Hello, many thanks for this works, unfortunatly i missed the link.
2 questions, can you send me link to donate for the walleye developpement of this proton aosp unofficial rom ?
Also, is this would work with locked bootloader ? or does not making sens with the configuration of vendor from 11 etc...
Also if u have another test build could you provide it.
Thanks.

Currently the ROM is in in unknown state @Dollscythe is trying their best to fix it so no links are currently available as the ROM wasn't currently usable and and no nothing is flashable if your bootloader is locked for anything to be flashable your bootloader must be able to be unlocked or set in unlocked mode otherwise the device is unflashable and to donate to them its PayPal and the link

I wouldn't recommend re-locking it but I know on the original you could but I would wait until @Dollscythe finishes up if they get the chance as things happen and they are supporting a phone they don't have so time is needed give them a few days hopefully they get a chance and they can answer better then I can as they are building it

Ok many thanks, no rush at all really, this would be perfect to have at least one stable build with this feature and the classics proton aosp options (more option on the permission manager, the press squeeze, and other things). after all (to me) all will be good.
