Do AOSP roms have any issues like they had at LG G3? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
when I had a LG G3, i tried AOSP roms and they had many problems with camera: 4k & 120fps not working, picture quality wasnt that good, RAW not available. The audio recordings and telephone had catastrophic quality (sounded like 32 kbit/s or so). And i guess some other problems too, which i don't remember.
Do the LG G4 have the same issues using AOSP roms?
Thanks
bagbag

The camera quality on AOSP/CM based Roms will never be that good than on stock roms due to missing drivers. This is the same on the G4, though the pictures taken on an AOSP rom are still good in my opinion. And all in all, AOSP roms run very well I think on our G4.

Good, if it mostly works well, i gonna try it.
Thank you

AOSP roms will never ever be as good as the stock at some specific things due to locked out code and drivers. Camera is one of the examples. AOSP based roms still run good but I can't yet fully judge CM13 because it is still under development and has its issues for now. When they finish it I will try again. You can also try some stock based roms. For now they run better than AOSP based roms.

Yeah, I'm aware of that they will never be as good in certain things, but the microphone quality at LG G3 was terrible - recordings were unusable.
At the moment I'm using Imperium Rom and I'm actually happy with it. But I still like the vanilla Android design way more.

Some saying the camera isn't that good but i think its actually pretty damn good for a phone,
Heres an image i took on my phone while using resurrection remix

Indeed, it looks good - as long as you dont zoom a bit. Without zooming they also looked good at G3, but if you zoomed at full resolution, it was worse than using stock.
Do AOSP roms support RAW? (you could test that with FreeDCam - Play Store | FreeDCam - Github)
Whats about audio quality? As far as I remember that was the worst of all problems.

Questions about Cyanogenmod

Good Evening,
i have interest to flash the CynogenMod on my Arc but i have some questions.
Why Cyanogen dont release the Mod official on their Forums ?
And its a bit misterious that Cyanogen have written that since yesterday
Cyanogenmod will work on the Arc but no official file or official how to or something else on their homepage about the Arc .
And for the Guys who have flashed the FW already .
How is the Batterylife ?
And the Camera have the Exmor R function integrated or is the quality not the same as on Stock Sony Ericsson ?
To answer your first question, the reason you won't find much for the ARC on their forums is because the FXP team is directly responsible for maintaining CM for the xperia series.
Battery life for me is about the same as rooted/cleaned stock firmware, possibly better since there's barely anything running the background and everything is very light.
I can't comment on the camera too much since I haven't tested it directly, but I believe the only difference is the UI.
it would be interesting to see some screenshots
or a video running cm7 on Arc

good idea ... if some body can do it and tell more abt bug that exist in mc7 for arc
thx lot
nobody post screenshots or video
I'm also a bit hesitant flashing to CM7 due to some disadvantages against the stock ROM. A video citing out those bugs at the same time the advantages would be very helpful.

cm7 feels good on arc its lightning fast than stock has better battery life, wide range of customization and tweaks.
.hdmi not supported, camera flash not working properly at night flash works during focusing but not while taking photos so photo turns out dark..on some camera modes it crashes
lack of bravia engine and xloud feature from stock is disappointing and difference is noticeable
equalizer settings needs to be tuned for clear sound (bass boost,presets,virtual effect, etc) which takes some time
adw crashes sometimes.. many more bugs still testing..
overall cm7 is gud for who are bored of stock for a change, lot of bugs needs to be fixed yet
anyone going to flash cm7 make sure you backup all files required to restore back to stock sony if in case.... i`m having hard time finding those

you should probably credit the source: androidpolice as you took all their images, writeup, and mirrors
let some of the code junkies here are diving in to this see if they can get some stuff working
Motorola took down mediafire, d-h, and mirrorcreator link. May want to remove them.
The image quality isn't going to change and half the features don't work ... Do people really want that kind of "functionality" just for a different UI ? ... Give me the stock Sense camera any day.

choice is good just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't

[Q] Need Stability!!

Over the past three weeks Have been trying assortment of roms. Dont like the look and feel of TW. I like the abilities of CM because i can shut of the phantom menu, but i have been getting wakelocks and LOS and the rotation is slow or doesnt even work. especially after hanging up calls.
I would just like a recomendation for a stable ROM with no LOS and customizable. Battery i know depends on the phone so i wont even ask.
Or even fixes for those problems. I am currently on CM 10.1rc2 build date 9/18
Have you tried some of the themed TouchWiz ROMs? That's where you're gonna get stability... Here's my latest if you dare to try it mwahaha (mad scientist laugh)-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320041.. I've got a 4.3 AOSP version on there too but I wouldn't recommend that for stability.

Really loving rom. Have question about unlock screen. I changed it to aosp but I can't find any where to change the targets..and thanks for the inverted play store. Have the app.but I always screw up installation and give up.I always search, hence only 10 posts in over 2 years
Can't change targets.

[Q] Camera Firmware Issue, Unusable

TL;DR - Camera firmware updated on Google Edition, largely unusable since. Any fixes?
Here's the tale. My camera was excellent for the past year or so, and served me well no matter what ROM was being used. One fateful day, I was going to share something to a friend on Google+ while using the Google Play Edition ROM (really very excellent) when I was presented with this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I didn't think much of it, but let it sit while it did this. I eventually came back to the phone after several minutes, only to find the message still there.
I killed Google+ and opened my camera. I was presented the same message that the camera firmware was updating and to wait. I let it sit for about half an hour. I tried again only to receive the same message. Eventually I was presented a black screen with the camera controls, and was able to switch to the front camera. However, the back camera was still only a black screen. I restarted and had the same issue.
I reflashed to a stock based ROM (Insane) and was presented with the same issue, only this time no warning about firmware upgrades in progress - just black screen on the rear camera. At this point I decided an ODIN would probably take me back to where I needed to be, so I ODIN'ed a stock image. The issue was still persistent, but the camera would work every once in awhile now. It was a very rare occasion, but sometimes the back camera would flicker into life and allow me to take pictures as usual. Infuriatingly enough, the first time it started working was when I was trying to show a friend of mine, also into Android, the issue.
Non-TW based ROMs do not work with the rear camera now. The front camera is still working, and sometimes allows videos to be taken.
TW based ROMs rarely work with the rear camera now. The front camera is still working, and sometimes allows videos to be taken.
Does anyone have any ideas on remedies for this issue? Is there a stock Samsung Galaxy S4 camera firmware flashable? I've searched around, and decided to yield to the higher XDA powers of knowledge after no returns.

Weird back cam issue when holding phone vertically

Hey fellow OP5T owners,
I recently upgraded to BluSpark r106 (probably completely unrelated) on OOS 5.0.4 and today I noticed that my cam has a weird bug on the bottom of freshly taken pictures when holding the camera vertically (stock cam).
It does NOT happen when I am holding it horizontally, and sometimes it doesn't occur when you switch to the gallery fast enough after taking the photo.
It also does NOT happen in portrait mode at all, but when I'm holding it vertically in Pro mode and in normal auto Picture mode.
Video is not affected in any way.
To me, it looks like the processing of the picture gets messed up because the pictures come out fine in the gallery after taking the photo, and after a very short timespan, the artifacts pop up in the final picture.

I'm assuming you're using the standard, unmodified camera app that comes with OOS. If that's the case I would suggest you download any of the third party camera apps that are available in the Play Store and see if you can replicate the same problem. If the problem does not appear on another camera app, then it's almost 100% likely that is a software issue related to the camera app and the kernel might be a possible culprit.
If that's the case in your case I would wipe dalvik/cache and flash stock kernel and see if the issue is resolved.
Same issue with third party camera apps like Open Camera and the Nokia Cam that floated around here somewhere.
I'm now dirty flashing stock OOS 5.0.4, then check if it solves the problem and then go back to modifications.
Thanks for your input!
Edit: I tried it out twice now, both time same results, the issue is solved with a dirty flash of OOS 5.0.4 and Magisk, and is replicatable by flashing BluSpark r106.
It seems to interfere with the cam, especially when using touch to focus.
Same here. Thank you for your post! I was worried that it was hardware related.
