I pulled my phone out of my pocket and... - Note 7 Questions & Answers

... WTF!?!?!?!?!?! I have not used a case regularly for almost 10 years and it finally happened to me. And to think I just got insurance 4 months ago for my S7 edge. Time to use it.

yeah my S7 Edge fell one time, in a case, from pocket height, and the whole screen snapped in half.

What sucks is that all I did was sit with my phone in my pocket. I didn't have anything else in them. There's the phone and some tiny shards of glass when I flipped out my pocket.

oh wow! I thought you dropped it!
It looks like it got tweaked in between the where the volume keys are in the metal frame. the iPhone 6 Plus's bend there too.

That was my first thought too. Same sweet spot as the iPhone 6. I'll take a better pic with my wife's phone when she gets home. All I have is my laptop cam.

Slim, thin, polish and fragile. We should cover it a case.

This is the NOTE 7 forum not the S7?
I have yet to read a forum concerning most brands where a member has not broken his phone by keeping it in his pocket. There´s no real mystery to this. If we sit on a mobile phone chances are it will break. Its the price we pay for pushing manufacturers for lighter, thinner, bigger mobiles.... Its a trade off. Only real way around this is the purchase a CAT mobile as they are built to take 'some' wear and tear, meaning they are built like brick out houses!
Modern flagship devices look great but can be-are prone to breakage-damage.
Sorry the OP is having this problem, its not only a shock when it happens but upsetting.
I sincerely hope the insurance company will resolve the situation.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I got the insurance when I had my S7 Edge. The pic is of my Note 7.
Also, this was not in my back pocket. Front left pocket. Just sat in my chair and I heard a crack. Pulled it out and that was it.

Hi, its a real problem.
From your photo it 'looks' like the mobile has had a contact blow (ding) to the side glass. 'Maybe' you hit your phone before you sat down and the final crack came when the phone was exposed to slight trouser-leg pressure? Its a guessing game?
One thing for sure the mobile didn't self destruct that way, some outside force has caused this effect. Like I wrote, its very distressing and annoying. You have my utmost sympathies.

That is the perfect example of the programmed obsolesce.
the glued non-removable battery, that tends to last about a year,
and the fragile glass back,
will eventually invite (force) you to buy a new phone, whether you want it or not.
in theory, it's Samsung, not the insurance company, that has to take care about the issue. But, as it looks like a physical damage, they can always say "it's your fault"

In the U.S. Samsung will replace the battery for $45 plus shipping. At least that was the price for the S6. They charged me $75 including shipping to replace the glass back of my Note5 when I dropped it. As for "fault" something caused the phone in the pic to crack. As someone above said you can see the point of impact in the pic. Whether the OP recollects what that was is a separate conversation. You don't have to have a PhD in physics to realize the glass panels on the Note7 that are rounded on the edges and corners leave it more susceptible to impact damage. And any glass phone is going to more easily damaged than a metal one. Where a glass phone would crack a metal one would dent and show abrasions. Either material vs. concrete is going to result in visible damage.

Out of warranty for the battery. If the battery can't hold an 80% charge within the one-year warranty replacement is no charge but the user has to pay for shipping. There is no warranty on a broken glass panel.

I couldn't tell you anything else. It could have just had pressure on that part before it snapped (bend gate). It wasn't cracked the 3 minutes before but it is now. I'm going to see what Sammy can do. I have the platinum status with them. Maybe they can help.

Galaxy Nexus Rear Housing Replacement

I've started looking around the web to find places that sell the rear housing for the Galaxy Nexus i9250 (GSM version). I'm finding that the rear housing seems to be relatively cheap ($15-20). According to iFixit (step 6), the removal/installation of the rear housing is actually really easy.
Video tutorial (Thanks to snidrx). Rear housing removal is 1:19 - 1:33:

So I was thinking about picking up a spare rear housing for whenever I decide to go without a case or switch to one that doesn't leave scuffs. I've always been pretty weary of eBay so I figured I would get your input. Does anyone have any experience with any of the below sellers, specifically with the Galaxy Nexus rear housing?

if you do replace it, id suggest protecting your next one with a skin... Skins go on the phone but they are thin enough to fit inside cases. my skin is a carbon fiber skinomi.. it prevents scuffs and scratches on the part your replacing. i had it on my phone before any cases touched the new phone.

It's the Black Cruzer TPU case. It's pretty soft. To be honest I'm not entirely sure how it's even causing the scuffing but considering the case has been on since 5 minutes after I took the phone out of the box, I'm positive it's the case.

Please keep me posted either in this thread or via PM when you get it. I am really curious to see if one of those ebay one fits perfectly. If so I will definitely pick a spare one up.
I dropped my SGN from a very short distance (maybe 2 feet) onto pavement, and it tumbled. The screen is fine, but all 4 corners have some sort of scratches.
I'm considering pulling the "hey VZW, my phone keeps rebooting on me, can I get a replacement?" maneuver, but if that DOESN'T work (or, if they say they'll be sending me a refurb - dunno why, but I HATE the idea of it having been owned by someone else - call me crazy), I'll gladly shell out the $45 for a replacement housing.
And if I'm looking at my phone correctly, there are not "your warranty is void once you jam a screwdriver through this sticker" sticker, like my Incredible had. Liking that a lot.
Keep me posted on what you end up doing.

I have a similar story to yours. I dropped mine about 3-4 feet onto asphalt and have scrapes on all four corners. Most aren't bad however the bottom of the phone is pretty beat up. The screen has no scratches miracuously. The only other problem I noticed is when the phone vibrates it sounds a little rough but oh well, everything else functions fine! I too wouldn't mind paying $45 for a new housing provided the installation was easy.

Only removing the digitizer is more work so it might be harder then it looks (they tear-down phones for a living and it doesn't cost them a dime if it goes wrong). But any way let us know how it went.

I ordered my SGN on my work account (a government line). I was talking to my sales rep today in normal everyday business, and calmly mentioned that my SGN was rebooting on it's own (it's not, really... but she doesn't know that), and she said "Oh really? Well, do you want me to ship you a new one?"
"Oh. I hadn't thought much about it, but... I wouldn't want it to become a big problem in the future... so... yeah, I guess that'd be nice."
Couldn't have scripted it better myself. She didn't say anything about it possibly being a refurb tho. Maybe I'll ask her about it tomorrow.

You are going through Verizon though. I've found that exchanging phones through your carrier is very simple. However, in my case I have the GSM model and T-Mobile won't help me out with it at all.
I'm not really looking for an exchange anyway. I love the phone and aside from the very tiny scuffs caused by the case it's 100% perfect. I just figured that since the rear housing replacements are only $45, if they fit perfect I might as well pick a spare up.

So you damaged your phone and you want to fraud your carrier? You sound like a real good guy.
You need to man up and take responsibility. If you want it fixed you need to pay for it. Or you should have put insurance on it. If you can't afford to fix it, put a $10 case on it and cover it up.

Samsung and Corning Inc.: Repair or Replace Samsung Galaxy S3's Defective Glass

Trying to get the word out here for all who have been affected by their defective glass breaking.
I want to mention that I am NOT the creator of this petition I am nearly passing information on after I found it during a Google search.

Actually I think it is a design flaw and I will tell you why. Most of the breaks on this phone happen from the edge. Samsung decided to use cheap plastic on the edges. When the phone impacts, from the edge the plastic gives way to much. It then forces the glass inward from the edge, the glass having no where to go, plus the fact it is so thin, cannot handle the force and just shatters. I dropped my phone from literally 1 foot off he ground and the screen shattered. Guess what, it was a side corner impact.
Had Samsung used an Aluminum body or a stronger Composite the phone would probably hold up much better to these side/corner impacts, But again they used cheap garbage plastic... So sad for a great phone hardware wise...
Good thing for us consumers we have multiple devices to choose from when ever we become unhappy with something.
Bottom line is no device is perfect. LG, ZTE and HTC make devices for Sprint as well. If the GS3 hardware is not up to your specifications feel free to try one of those.
No body held a gun to your head and said buy this phone. No one said, hey keep the phone naked or made you drop it..
What ever you do dont run your car into a brick wall at 5 miles an hour. Do you know how much bumpers on a vehicle cost now a days

I honestly think this is stupid
(Typing from a s3 cracked from the corner)
We buy smart phones knowing the risks and this falls under accidental
While it is true that both my s1&2 lasted through lots more falls the crack in my phone wasn't as bad as other phones I saw
Where the 3ft drop caused a spider web crack from the middle of the screen woke i got a tiny-ish crack from the corner
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
i think samsung knew the phone might not be as durable, but they thought thinness was more important.
The real problem is that a even a small crack on your screen voids your warrenty. And samsung has a all or nothing repair policy.
I learned this the hard way.
you could try, you know, not dropping your phone. if you're prone to being clumsy, then how about you take responsibility by buying a case and protecting your investment instead of blaming the damn manufacturer for your own damn mistake? even if you're not a clumsy person and you use the addage "sh*t happens sometimes"... you're damn right sh*t happens, so how about you insure your sh*t with a case like a responsible adult?
cmon look at what's on that stupid petition's page: "They need to investigate without their prejudicial bias, and possibly recall the phones that have the defective glass." think about that for just a minute. how exactly do you idiots propose that samsung "recall phones that have the defective glass?" first off, how does one know they have defective glass without dropping their phone to find out? your answer may be "well hurrrrr if the glass breaks then it's defective..." well no sh*t sherlock, you dropped it that doesn't prove anything other than the fact that you dropped a piece of glass. is that samsung's fault that you have parkinsons? secondly, even if they did honor the requests of a few mongoloids, how does samsung know these mongoloids legitimately dropped their phones from only a few feet off the ground? how does samsung know that these phones weren't thrown in the air, or dropped from a ladder, or thrown down some stairs by your spoiled, rambunctious kids?
get real. this petition is stupid and only enables the irresponsibility and cowardness of people. take responsibility for your own mistakes instead of blaming the manufacturer for you breaking your phone.
Well that escalated quickly: p
Seriously just buy a case

LOL 10 year olds dont use words like mongoloid and parkinsons..
But i agree with him in principle. Be responsible for your own actions. The device worked perfectly prior to the customer dropping the phone. Those actions led to the device being damaged.
Look no one is saying that a drop cannot break a phone. It would be silly to think otherwise. This petition is not just for people who have dropped their phones, rather it is for people who's glass is mysteriously cracking and trust me it has been happening for some. Also it is not the glass that is defective, rather it is the BEZEL design. The fact that it is made of such a cheap plastic provides absolutely no protection for a corner impact. Had Samsung made the midframe out of a stronger composite or aluminum the phones may hold up better. That is the just the reality. Anyone posting about you should not drop your phone or get a case or bla bla is missing the point. We pay top dollar for a device. When it is designed for a MOBILE application the enginneers or corporation who employed them need to give them the direction to make a product that keep the comsumer in mind and that it holds up a bit better to that environment. I love my S3 but the fact that it is so fragile just sucks.I dropped my Moto X2 many a time and never ever once did it break the glass. I have repaired now over a dozen S3 glass and every one of them was cause by intrussion of the plastic bezel/midframe into the glass from the side corner. The glass just cannot hold up to this type of impact.
I can agree on the argument that Samsung should have used a stronger material for the bezel. If I get my new PSU in today for my computer that I use to process photos from my 60D, I'll take a few shots of the bezel where I dropped the device from about 1.5ft getting into my car. It didn't shatter the screen, but it dented and it's malleable enough to actually push up a small outward dent on the edge that interfaces with the back cover. And I am not talking about a dent on the face of the plastic; it was actually soft (hence my use of malleable) enough to re-shape the "body" of the plastic. I liken it to the softness of gold or a soft lead.
As for corner impacts that shattered the screen, I don't think that manufacturer should be held responsible for that. It's an ion-exchange potassium silicate. Tempered glass. **** happens if you do that and your device insurance should cover that if you bought it.
I think perhaps a carbon composite should have been used. It really is cheap plastic.

Laptop makers replace screens that become cracked , without the necessity of buying an extended warranty.

I can do absolutely anything to my phone and they don't give a ****! They take it in whatever condition I give it to them and give me a new one a couple days later. They don't even care that its rooted. So complain all you want if you have to pay for a broken phone its your fault for not having looked around for the best place to buy from or the best protection plan! So quit complaining!

Smashy smashy ... dropped my Note 2 today and screen broke. Gruesome pics inside.

I use the OEM Samsung Note 2 case which has a rubber lip around the glass... (Not on the phone in the pictures.) It clearly didn't help in this case. Was putting the phone into my pocket at lunch while headphones were connected. The wire snagged and tilted the phone out of my hand. As it fell it was heading down to hit the bottom edge at and angle but it ran out of wire (as the earbuds were in my ears) so it yanked the wire, which spun it around making sure it hit the ground perfectly face first.
Didn't bounce ... make a funny sound. I had a feeling that was it .... and yep, picked it up and this.
Even though shards of glass are coming off, the digitizer and S-pen still worked perfectly! I quickly go on the phone to Ensquared and a replacement is on its way. $75 deductible isn't too bad, considering the price of the phone. (I bought the $99.99 two year warranty option when I got this phone.)
First phone I have ever broken, and I had a Droid X phone for two years with a ton of drops, no case and never an issue. (Just scratches on the body and even a ding on the metal lip of the screen.) Bad luck or is the Note 2 just more fragile? Price we pay for the huge screen?
I'm using a HTC Amaze 4G right now ... 4.3" screen and it's impossible to use now. Feels so cramped and tiny .... and so slow and laggy. Replacement can't come quickly enough.

Ya not too bad really. They want the old phone back, so I'm sure they repair them. For all I know I'm getting a refurb. We shall see. I think I'm going to buy a better case. Something with a slightly bigget lip on it.

I think falling onto carpet, even thin carpet is totally fine. Even onto a wood floor my phone would have survived. It was onto concrete but especially concrete with lots of little pebbles in it, creating a bumpy surface. Bumpy enough that if you lay the phone flat on it the only part actually touching is the tops of the little pebbles against the glass....
That's why my corners are fine -- I think the break started down in the lower right corner-ish area when a sharp pebble must have slammed right into the glass with a sharp point.
I dropped my Note 2 twice from waist height on two different occasions with no case. Once it landed on face down (on plain concrete floor) and the other on its back, so far it seemed to be handling those punishments well. I don't know if having a case has a negative impact on the way the Note 2 is aerodynamically designed to land such that.
My lil brother throw mines around sometimes on the carpet and nothing happens. I hope I don't break it because it would cost 300 to repair it.

Simply turned my phone over today and cracked my screen. Cracked the screen next to the power button. Small 2 inch clean crack. Still not sure if I want to live with it or spend $200 to fix it. Phone still works, just think ocd will drive me crazy.
So would you fix it or live with it?
All insurace company requir the device to be 90 days or less. I guess I cannot get insured.

VERY sorry for your loss.
I have been extremely rough on the Note 2 (even more than my blackberries, iphones, and S2)....I've had this phone drop SEVERAL times from the top of a 7 foot refrigerator unto a hardwood floor.
I was chilling in the backyard last weekend lounging and drinking a bottle of wine. Laid the phone in my lap and it fell 12 inches on the ground.
CRASH!
NUTS!!!
Cannot wait for the Note III with the unbreakable screen!
Dropped my N2 from about 4ft onto smooth concrete. Popped the flip cover and battery out, but other than that, no issues.
Anyone else use en squared?
Thinking about getting it, only 100 for 2 years with a 75 dollars deductible...
Sent from my ATT Note 2!
Ouch
Breaks my heart to see these broken screens...I was surprised when I noticed a little scratch on my screen. Nothing major but I've never managed to scratch a Samsung screen going back to the original galaxy. Oh well... Ready for the npte III.
Damn I would be pissed if mine broke I just paid 300 for it and dont have warranty.

Check out the "Seidio convert" case for the note 2 on amazon...
About $55.00 for the combo case, but wow...It's a fine setup for this device.
It combines the traditional seidio mid-snap hard case, with a soft TPU outer case, and is held together by an ABS exo-skelton cover.
It also has a holster, and all controls are still functional with both case parts installed.
You can strip off the outer shell, and run lean with the active case in the office, or load up the outer cover and be protected to the extreme.
Mine got here today, and It's worth every penny...
Now, to get my new note 2 here tomorrow......
Sorry for the crash, but between this setup and otter box, you have 2 great choices to protect this fragile screen.....

:highfive: I'll vouch for you as I have the same case and I also love it.
Had the same case on my old phone for 2 years and it held up great.

Warranty lol...

So drop my note 3 from about one foot off the ground... lands solid face down... no case or screen protector... cracks the screen almost from corner to corner. Took out the warranty for once... happy I did that. So paid 175 and yay phone next day... no... not quite... 2 days later no updates. Call and the note 3 is on backorder and should have one in a week. I heard the note 3 was fragile.... but really? This is more of just a sharing of my experience than anything but I just hope they take it without caring that the knox flag is tripped.
Face down is the worst way any phone can land, regardless of distance. It's not really much of a relative barometer of durability. Insurance shouldn't care that the Knox flag is tripped, assuming you actually mean insurance.

I've heard these issues with both the Note 3 and the GS4. Was worried about getting both of them. My wife has GS4, of course you know what i have. I Have a N3 Flip cover, and have dropped it. Funny enough the flip cover always manages to open on the way down. I have a dent in the metal frame, and have dropped it hard enough that the flip cover came off and the battery popped out, but no damage to the screen. But i do have the invisi shield on it, so maybe that is the difference.

Whatever insurance I pay for with the jump thing. Really wasn't so big on the idea since I sell my devices... and just buy new ones... but I was like whatever this is knew Ill give it a shot and see what I think.
The face down drop was just payback for me trying to ride my kids big wheel racer thing (like a tricycle with the front tire being very large). Girlfriend was following behind me and I didn't even stop to get my phone(possibly ran over it) and just yelled back joking "how bad is it?" thinking at worst it would be a screen scratch... She then shows me when we get to the car and I was like... well that sucks.. thought was its already broken so no point in getting upset now... especially since I was the one that broke it.
I have dropped it one other time and it hit the corner(dented the plastic a little) where this crack continued to... so just guessing I weakened the glass and the just the face down flop was enough to finish it off.

There was another guy here ordering a brand new note 3 and he said it was on back order. Looks like you are probably getting a brand new unit then?
Sorry about the dropping, I always want to go without case as I like the feel of the phone naked, but know for a fact I will drop it without a case LOL Even though I have not yet dropped mine since it was released october 3rd.
Try not to drop your phone lol.
But really after the s2 the s line has gotten crap and break easy from drops.
I my friend has drop so many phones it's not even funny.
He said the s2 last the longest. Drop and no cracks. Power button pop off lol.
His s3 broke and the battery back rubs a hold in it from normal use.
His girl had a s4 and it shatter from falling.
But again all no cases or screen protectors.
I do my best to not drop a phone because now a days there build like eggs.
I remember in the old days you could throw a phone at someone, knock them out then pick it up and call someone lol.

Well after such a good experience with the Note2 I decided to try case free... that has now stopped. Have a case and screen protector ready for the new one.
After the quick break on this one I am probably going to be selling the replacement one.... unsure if it will be replaced with a s5 or sony z1s. Thats a topic for another day and a lot more research.
Wait for Sony z2s with massive screen phablet love.

I cycle a lot..... really a lot... so carrying a note 3 in my jersey is a slight hassle and wont fit in my saddle bag.
I am wanting a large note3 like phone and then a compact high end phone... I had a N5 and it was all good except the battery life left me with a dead phone on heavy use days. The note3 has never failed me on that one.

Thank you for the info. Now to just charge it up and check the multitouch and of course root and get to flashing. Really hoping I can just take my backup of my old Note3 and use it in my new Note3. Then TiBu the apps. Time is seriously short about to take a road trip from the Midwest to NY and the unlimited tethering among other things is a slight need. Side note... loving X-Note.

Yep I'm not complaining. This one after testing basic functioning has a screen protector on it with a case. Just went with the tech21 for both because they were there.
And yes I restored the backup from my previous note3 to the new one and no hiccups. Took like 15 minutes from root to just like the other.

Lg g4 Replacement screen?

so to make a long story short, i managed to shatter the screen on my att branded lg g4. Its so bad that NOTHING displays on the screen when powered on (but the notification led still works lol)
But i need to know if theres anywhere online i could order a new screen (that wont charge me an arm and a leg)....
ANDDDD will an h815 screen work with my h810? (I dont see why it wouldnt)
You want the digitizer WITH frame in one.makes it easier. You don't want those two separate. Prolly do it yourself. Watch this.
Another, strip and put together inside ten minutes. This is how phones should be engineered.
This should give you an idea of price.

ask them whether it will work with your model #.

I watched the video and i cant believe how simple that is!!! And it looks like im better off getting the whole digitizer WITH FRAME assembly (would make the whole thing way easier lol). But ive got three questions.
First, Is repairsuniverse a reputable site? Id rather not get jipped for almost $100....
Second, are they US based? I live on the east coast of the US so I'm kinda hoping i could get it sooner then later (because for now I'm stuck using my old iphone 5c and the tiny screen is killing me!!!!!! Hahaha)
And third, are there any other REPUTABLE places i could order from that wouldn't be AS expensive? Because with me being an unemployed single father, i don't have much money to throw around, so id like to try and save as much money as possible....
Thank you very much for your responses and such.
How did you break the screen anyway. what kind of back did it have and were you using any sort of case.

they have a youtube channel with a guy who speaks in an american accent, they dont have any grammatical or spelling errors on their site. They look legit. Credit card means you're protected.
In my market LG offers a free screen replacement within the first six months from sale, worth around the $100 mark. That is the limit of their liability.
Just ask at the service centre closest to you then decide.

Sorry for the lack of reply lol. I will answer all the questions to the best that I can. First off I need to thank ONE TWELVE because I DID order the screen with frame from that site and it actually came in 2-3 days before it was supposed to. It only took 3 days to get from nv to nj.
The only few issues I had with the new screen is FIRST, pulling the headset speaker out was a pita!! Everything came out fine. I think I spent more time just pulling the headset out then I did pulling the ENTIRE phone apart lol. SECOND issue (was kinda my fault) I had forgotten to take the bracket for the proximity sensor out of the old screen and put it into the new one (duhhh, guess I was so excited to actually have a working phone again that I missed that super tiny peice) and the THIRD issue which I haven't assessed yet; the notification LED IS NOWHERE near as bright as it used to be, but I think there may be a piece of film or something that I may have forgotten to remove from the new screen..
As for how the screen broke..... The phone was naked at the time (no case, no screen protector) and it has the black leather back (which I got because it felt like the plastic one would be to slippery cuz theses no grip to it). Me and my son were getting ready to walk out of the amusment park and someone bumped into me as I was texting for my ride (with only one hand, Because the other was holding my son's hand obviously) and being bumped had caught me off guard and the phone fell face down onto the STONE gravel walkway and shattered it right at the bottem of the screen. I'll find the box that has the OLD screen in it and upload a picture.
Mind you, this is the FIRST screen I have ever shattered. And I've owned every iPhone sinch the 3g hahahah

Well done

You did not drop your iphones because they're smaller. One hand use when the other hand is busy is why people get phones with smaller screens. But the reason (amongst others) that you got a bigger screen is because those small screens no longer cut it.
Leather means no case so the only thing left is a tempered glass protector. it will protect against a face down drop but not a corner drop, either putting it into or taking it out of a pocket, this too with just one hand.
Look for amfilm. Generic with good reviews on amazon.

Accually I find a case on Amazon that actually fits the leather back (after MUCH searching lol) it's a SPIGEN branded one. Its got a rubber back that slips into the phone and then a hard plastic bumper that clips around it (it's kinda hard to explane, I'll post the Amazon link)... But after a week or so of using the case I'm really not a fan of it. I might try and find something else that doesn't feel so cheap.
(sorry for the crazy long Amazon link lol)

Its called the neo hybrid and i have two of them. Good grip. rather than cheap i'd have thought you may have found them bulky.
other options are verus verge, uag, caseology if you don't mind the size.
Anyone else have luck w/ a reliable source for the screen / digitizer AND housing for a sprint variant? ereplacementparts.com said theirs does NOT work w/ the sprint variant. Anyone try the ones on Amazon?
Thanks.
Why don't you try the one already mentioned earlier ?
am surprised to hear there is even a difference between sprint and others when it comes to the screen.

But it has also happened to some that are not on sprint too.
Screen incompatibility?
Hello.
Has anyone encountered or does anyone know of incompatibilities with screen and G4 model? I recently bought a screen replacement but it doesn't seem to light up. The LED indicator and other components attached to the screen work fine though.
Actually the long story is I got hold of 3 replacement screens. The 1st one lit up but had problems recognizing touch and the display was fuzzy so I asked for another replacement. The 2nd one behaves as described in the paragraph above. The same goes for the 3rd one.
I noticed my original screen and the 1st replacement screen's ribbon were different from the 2nd and 3rd in that the 2nd and 3rd had a metal sheet which was not present on the 1st and my original one.
This is what the 2nd and 3rd replacement screens' ribbons look like: s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/usetsfiles/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/r/e/replacement_part_for_lg_g4_f500_lcd_screen_and_digitizer_assembly_-_black_-_lg_logo_-_a_grade_3__1.jpg
(sorry, I'm not yet allowed to post links)
I haven't tried removing the metal sheet as I haven't seen a tutorial video that does that.
The image isn't showing when i entered it into the browser. Says something about an xml file
Reduce the size of the filename and host it again.

It looks like some sort shield to protect during shipping.
How do you fit this thing ?
i've not heard of incompatibility between G4 screens before.
