Very weak 3G connectivity with a new modem. Need modem recommendation. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I recently flashed with i317ucucnj2. Phone is running Blisspop 5.1.1. Ever since I flashed the phone with this modem, I have horrible 3g connectivity. The 3G connection would drop frequently. I don't have any problems with calling though.
Also, I am out of the US right now and am in India using Vodafone India. Could that be the reason that this ATT released modem isn't working fine here?
If there are any Indians here, can you guys recommend me a good modem with good 3G connectivity for Vodafone India?

Poor 3G signals on GNex.

My GNex is not getting 3G signals...
When I deselect "use 2g network only".....
The "E" on nav bar turns to "H" for a few seconds and then again it turns to "E" ....
(I m using my iPhone 4s with 3G on at the same place with full signals..)
Network- Vodafone-IN
Anybody have the same problem?
Even i am getting poor 3g signals. It really wierd that at the same place the signal keeps fluctuating. It never used to happen on my old phone. But i dont face any call drops.
What is your baseband. Mine is XXLF1. Probably trying some other basebands might help.
Tata Docomo, Bangalore
im not even getting a 3g signal. same baseband as yours
How about wifi. My wifi reception is also quite bad. Looks like I have got a Lemon. Does wifi also depend on baseband or is it just the radio (gsm, 3g)

can we flash older baseband?
you can flash any baseband. Just make sure it is compatible.

It is better to check form the India thread what others are using before flashing the baseband

Optus AU slow 3g speed JB

Hi I have noticed that since being on jellybean roms I have poor 3g speeds, I don't use 3g much because I am usually in wifi range and I have low data allowance, but I often use it to quickly log into my bank account etc. It takes one minute or more just to log in. It used to take a couple of seconds.
My carrier is TPG, an Optus (Australia) reseller which uses UMTS2100MHz/900MHz.
The phone says Mobile Network Type: HSDPA:8
Baseband is I9250XXKK6. I have not flashed a baseband on its own before on this phone, just used whatever came with the rom I guess. Have tried AOKP jb and euroskank CM10. Both the 3g is super slow. Never had this problem on ICS.
My boyfriend has a nexus S still on ICS on the same carrier and his speeds are fine.
Anyone in Australia on Optus/optus reseller can tell me the baseband they found to be the best? I see a couple of AU baseband but they say best for 850mhz (telstra) network
Thanks guys
Just tried the XXLF1 radio. I used the app GetRIL and it said that would be the best match for my rom but the 3g is still terrible.

[Q] Galaxy s3 att unlocked.. All ROM show 3G

Hi i have Galaxy s3 ATT i747 unlocked and every ROM i install give me 3G.. If i leave stock ROM it gives me 4G with know problems.. Is there any fix i can do that will give me 4G and modem i can install. Im on tmobile network
Can you see your IMEI number? I lost mine while flashing roms and the network couldn't recognize my phone, so it booted me down to 3g (but I'm on ATT).

Do your roms have the correct apn's?
I'm having connectivity challenges when trying 4.2.2 roms on Rogers w/ my i747m.
Tried most of the recommended modems on for i747m (complete modem list) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
with CM10.1 and AOKP Task650.
The result, at worst little to no connectivity, at best intermittent connectivity. It doesn't seem to want to switch between towers and getting connectivity better than gprs or edge is pretty much non-existent
When I burn the rooted Rogers ROM - root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4.tar.md5 I get good connectivity switching and 3G. I haven't seen LTE yet but it was only officially rolled out here 9 days ago so it's still crap and only partially out.
I'm about to roll back to the rooted ROM and apply the latest Canadian patch via KIES and give up on S3 mods. If some kind canadian has the time or inclination a faq/step by step on a S3 rogers install that actually works would be very appreciated. I've tried most of the recipes on XDA, task650, cyanomodgen and can't seem to come up with a working combination that gives me data/phone service that is at least as good as stock.
thanks,
rf

This may be correct. Do other ROMs switch between 3G and H+? Do you see 4G vice 4G LTE on stock rom? What download speeds are you getting on stock and other ROMs? With AT&T, HSPA was labeled 4G instead of H or H+. They had to add LTE to the 4G after LTE went online for them in order to differentiate a difference. The majority of places have HSPA labeled as H or H+ and LTE is considered true 4G. I have noticed that many ROMs will show 3G until data is received/sent and it switches to H+.

Canadian i747m not working any network in Europe

Hello Everyone
I have Galaxy S3 i747m from Rogers. I went to Europe for holidays. I unlocked my phone in Poland. After that phone was working ok but internet was very slow. It was working on Edge although everywhere was LTE range. I was changing carriers-sim cards but was the same problem. Then I went to UK. There my phone stopped reading any network especially when I was in the building. My current carrier is O2. My phone sometimes says not registered on network or says nothing. I have no connection at all. I dont know what to do now.
I flashed a new rom from this forum Hyperdrive which is nice but it didnt change anything. I was also installing those two files ..modem_XXDME4__ and modem+ddemg2 but my phone stopped working at all. So I had to format and flash a rom again.
Please help me guys because I want to destroy this phone with an AXE. I give up.
Not sure what the situation is in Europe, but I had a similar problem when I bought an unlocked i747M and attempted to use it on my AT&T network in the US.
Phone calls were fine, but way slow data connectivity.
US LTE does not support International/Canadian phones. Something with the modem and bands used here vs Canada.
Might be the same situation where you are. The modem may not be compatible with the European network bands.
I know DocHoliday77 helped me with mine. He made it very clear you CAN NOT change the modem version. I have the US version now and all is fine.
That's the only thing I can think of too tbh. That or something is corrupt or there's some sort of hardware issue. Sorry, I know that doesn't help much.... Hopefully someone else may have thoughts to add...

Question T-Mobile phones on non-TMO firmware - Any network issues?

I live in an area with sometimes-spotty reception.
Is it at all possible that when running a non-TMO firmware (such as global or custom ROM) I can have a less reliable network connection even if I'm running a NON-HLOS modem pulled from T-Mobile firmware?
I have a 9Pro purchased from T-Mobile and am on the TMO cellular plan.
And I can swear that running custom ROM or global firmware can sometimes deliver worsened network behavior than when on TMO firmware.
Not sure if it's just in my head or if others have the same issue?
Please tell me about your experience?

I think it's just you since I'm running global without issues. I'm not crazy about my network signal being a tad bit lower, as long as it works. I have nearly identical signal compared to stock firmware.
No issues here. T-Mobile user, Indian firmware. WiFi speeds top at 400mbps at home for reference. Running the same modem from when the phone was released (TMobile OG stock modem).
I actually noticed an improvement in reception going from OOS12 to crDroid on my 2127 tmo op9p. The transition was tricky though so DM me if you need guidance.
I thought my issues were related to switching to global/EU firmware from T-Mo, but when my wife and kids started having network problems with their stock T-Mo phones, it turned out to be then network was garbage (in our experience). Garbled calls, dropped calls, slow data, generally useless. Tried in multiple parts of the country (west, east, middle, north) and had issues. Even the unlocked ones we brought over had issues. So they either sold us a several garbage phones, or their network wasn't up to snuff.
Got all phones unlocked, and switched back to AT&T. They all work fine.
The network might just suck where you use it.
