Hi everyone. Like a lot of people owning a Lg g4, I had the boot looping problem, which Lg fixed by replacing the motherboard, but during the process they damaged my jack port: it only plays on the left earbud. I tested it with different headphones, there is a problem with my port. I sent it back to them twice so that they can fix it, explaining that there is a malfunction with the port, but each time they only replaced the motherboard. On the intervention report, it says that they fixed the boot looping issue, although I clearly asked for a jack port replacement... I sent it twice already, and I don't want to send it again and wait another month for my phone. What should I do? Thank you for responding.
Do a live chat with them. Right now they just assume it's a bootloop because it's so popular.

I'd give up on LG at this point. Just fix it yourself with some patience, $5 for the port and some cheap tools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTYZoVZCIvc

Yes but it doesn't look like that warrenty is doing any good anyway.
Void it and join the dark side; root.
"Void your warranty" is a funny statement. They are replacing boards for a bad flash on the emmc, so if you think they will even be able to tell you replaced the headphone jack if something else breaks if laughable. They don't know **** or they just don't care. You can keep your warranty and replace the headphone jack; it's modular.
i sent with unlocked bl my g4 to lg. they denied cause bl unlocked (little bit confused cause on the lg developer page is standing like "your warranty is gone if its a hardware defect which can caused by customsoftware"
so i thought ok i have warranty cause a defect headphone jack is not caused by software^^
so i startet to google about replace the port...
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Headphone-Ja...055286?hash=item3ab3e24b76:g:6j4AAOSwAuNW4j8e
for example (i payed 3€ for the jack)
repair costs me about 15min and it worked...
in the end my jack was ok... there was like 3tons of dust inside very hard compressed ...
but ok lg repair said that they have to replace mainboard and cost 270€ **** this service...
im a fan of lg. after that i was one
its really easy to replace it!
i also switched from lether brown to white... its nice that we have the option to swich easily
u only need the jack and a little + screwdriver...
to put out defect jack go into the jack with the screwdriver and press it up... easy
Thanks you guys! I'll replace it myself then
LG has some real issues with their repair team. I always thought it was crazy that so many people would say they would send their phone in for some repair, and instead of fixing it, they just kept replacing the board.
Well, it just happened to me. Sent in for a board replacement, and the repair team gouged the screen. I contacted LG, they said no problem, issued an RMA. I sent it back, got the phone back three weeks later. Gouge still there. Repair sheet says "replaced board."
Fantastic.

Hey Boys n Girls!
I made a mistake and bought off eBay a phone with a "not working LCD":
" This is a used HTC Desire Z smartphone. The item was dropped on water and immediately pulled out. The LCD screen doesn't work anymore as some cable inside is cracked. Everything works fine, touchscreen, menu and the device boots fine, you can hear the sound etc but no image. Anyone can fix this if you have an LCD spare for HTC Desire Z and the phone can be used and works fine, just the LCD needs replacing. Comes with original box, manuals and battery but no charger or data cable. I want to sell this fast so Happy Bidding!"
, also ordered already from two different seller LCD replacement screens neither of them worked. Backlight works on both but nothing else. Im quite puzzled what to do next...
Anyone got any idea?
Please let me know! THanks in advance!
Sounds like some cable is not working, rather than the two screens you've purchased! There is a guide somewhere here for all of that stuff. Best of luck mate!

try searching for ribbon cable. You should prob just take it to a cell phone store. Phone geeks in San Marcos did my repair for 70. I was texting gf while playing golf in pouring rain.

The flex ribbon cables are not that expensive. If you were comfortable replacing the screen, I would say you have the ability to replace the flex ribbon cable without a problem.

Im going to order it tonight and give an update as soon as I got the flex ribbon cable.... I assembled and disassembled so many times already soon will be able to do it blindfolded
Also while you have it apart clean the logic board with denatured or pure alcohol and a soft bristled brush. Let it dry completely! That way it won't corrode further from the water damage!

No prob cheap insurance plus it could even since a current or future problem I do this work for people can you tell lol. Denatured is best otherwise I think 97 is as pure as you'll find. Most stores carry the latter.

Replacing the Flex Ribbon Cable solved my problems.... Cheers Everyone!
It seems like my headphone jack isn't sensing that my headphones are plugged in. I've tried 3 different headphones, 3 different roms all with a full wipe and tried jiggling the jack a bit. No avail... Hmm I hope it's not a hardware problem. =/
Edit: doing some research the headphone jack looks like it's part of the main board... I sure as hell hope this isn't a hardware issue or I'm screwed.
Looks like I was right about how the sensor on the headphone jack went but lucky me there is an app on Play Store that activates and deactivaes the headphones. Wired Headphone/Headset Fix is a widget that will reject or activate headphones if the sensor works or not.
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve here?
Best thing is to talk first to HTC don't you think?
All parts of the phone are part of the mainboard.

I'm trying to achieve input. I searched and couldn't find anything similar to my problem. Also the screen, cameras, sensors, battery, speakers ect. Are not part of the main board. The headphone jack is connected to the main board unlike my iPod Touch 1G which it'd headphone isn't part of the mainboard.

This definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me. Haven't seen anything like this floating around xda... You should be covered by warranty even if you have unlocked as this couldn't be a software issue (which country are you in?). I'd take it back to the company you bought it from NOT HTC. It's up to them to sort the problem out as they sold you faulty goods. Good luck!

I'm in Canada and it was imported from Singapore from family. Sadly that family member lives in London and I have no clue where she bought it from. Well having no headphones isn't too bad for me because all my music is on my iPod and Tablet. The external speaker still works. My only guess would be flashing the jelly bean rom could have broken the headphones but that's very doubtful.

You could try and ask HTC where you stand but I'd imagine you would need to pay for it.

This is what HTC told me via e-mail about repairing an international phone in the U.S. Canada is handled through HTC’s U.S. support channels.
"Dear Barry,
I understand you have some questions about the Bootloader unlock tool and the warranty for your device. I know how important it is for you to receive correct information and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Unlocking the bootloader means that you now have the ability to customize software on your device. Barry, please note that changing your bootloader can cause significant issues with your device and once you have unlocked your device, you have agreed to the disclaimer that states a change in warranty status such that in the event you render your device unusable, you are responsible for the recovery of your device, whether by repair or by other means. The final decision about what is covered under the warranty (and the cost) is up to the repair technicians if you have your device repaired.
As for the warranty, your device does have Global Warranty so if you ever need your device repaired, we can do so here in the United States. Again, the final decision about what is covered under the warranty (and the cost) is up to the repair technicians if you have your device repaired.
To set up a repair ticket, you will need to speak to the HTC America Warranty & Repair Center. Their contact information is 1-888-617-1113 from 8 A.M. – 8 P.M. ET, 7 days a week. Barry, they will be able to answer any questions you have about the warranty and repair process.
I hope this was helpful and that I have answered all of your questions. If you ever have any questions, Barry, please do not hesitate to send us another email. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about your device. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I hope you have a great week! "
Since every One X built is still under warranty they may not ask for proof of purchase. As for the jack failing, there are probably hundreds of points of failure in a mobile device. You seem to have drawn the short straw.
Thanks for the reply Barry! I will give HTC a call and hope they are generous. Sadly I do have a budget so if the cost is too much i guess I'm all out of luck. The headphone jack isnt much of a problem with me but fixing it would be a plus.

Even if you can't get it fixed for free/within your budget, not all hope of using external headphones are lost. Get a stereo Bluetooth A2DP headset or one of those BT stereo clips that allows plugging in your own headphones. They are more convenient than wired headsets anyway.
I've actually had mine fail the past couple of weeks too. I thought it was a ROM issue but it wasn't. Gonna try calling HTC too.
I too have had a similar issue and was going to post this. I recently dropped my HOX down the toilet. Managed to fish it out straight away and dry it off etc and it appeared that everything was working fine but then I came to use my headphones a day or two after and discovered the phone doesn't acknowledge any headphones being put in.
If you could keep us posted about how you get on that'd be great!

That happend to me a couple of days after my One X fell into water. I blow some air into the audio jack, sucked some air back with my mouth and then took some tissues and clean the inner parts of the audio jack. And after that 10-minutes care my audio-jack started working properly again for 2 months without a single issue so far. You can try what I did.
I love you OP! (no homo). I dropped my One V in some obscure place and, after drying it, buying a replacement battery, and changing the power button-volume circuit, I detected that the headphone jack didn't work! I was going to unsolder and solder a replacement, but it was just the sensor that went bust. That app saved me! Thank you!!
sorry for bringing this topic back up but I had this problem on my htc one and this app worked! seeems the sensor went out on my phone for the hadphone jack
I am facing headphone jack issues of late with my Note 2. I have tried many headphones and earphones in my Note 2 and only the left audio works. If I wriggle around the audio jack and if I put the wire in a certain position, then the right audio comes and again stops even if the wire moves slightly. Its very annoying that I have to adjust the cable all the time. It is most likely a hardware problem with the jack. Should I give it in the service center or is there anything that I can do ? I am rooted and using a custom ROM. Will they repair it under warranty, if I flash back to stock ROM and reset the counter ?
Thanks
I had this problem with my mp3 player. It's very frustrating.
This picture is from a mp3 player, but it's the same in our phones. I think something is broken inside the yellow cirkle.
I have the exact same problem. Its a shame bcuz Note 2 has been the best phone Ive ever hsd.
Try cleaning out the port with a Q Tip and compressed air. No liquids if it continues then I would have services. Before sending it in have the stock firmware with kernel and recovery. And test it after that before sending it in.

Mine is doing this too, but only with certain cables plugged in. Those with a wider flat plug have the issue, where those with a smaller rounded plug do not. I am attempting to just get a cable for my headphones that have a smaller rounded plug, instead of getting the phone fixed, since it works with some. I think it is more an issue with not being able to push the plug entirely flush as the phone is curved, than with a defect in the contacts (though nothing would suprise me).
I've just sent my note 2 to Samsung (via Vodafone) to have the headphone socket fixed.
They refused because it was rooted It was still on stock Vodafone firmware and I forgot to unroot it lol

Note 2 Headphone jack fix for me
I too had this same issue. I have figured it out. I could not get the headphone jack to work, cleaned it and everything. I thought my phone was done. Then I was changing out my sd card I noticed a screw loose. The one right between the camera and the flash. I tightened it up and sure enough the headphone jack works now!! Not sure if this will fix all of your issues but just thought I would throw that out there.
Mine eventually went out completely, so i ordered a new one on eBay for $6 US. It literally took 5 minutes to fix.

Sorry for the thread hijack and thanks for the reply
I am in the UK and Vodafone were adamant that they (or Samsung?) wouldn't fix it because it was rooted. He then agreed with me that rooting my phone would in 'no way break the headphone socket' lol, still wouldn't repair it though
Do you have a link or anything that says EU phones must be fixed if they are rooted? I'm going to send Samsung a snotty email and it would be useful.

One of many authoritative sources: http://matija.suklje.name/rooting-and-flashing-your-device-does-not-void-the-warranty-in-eu
It boils down to that the repair centre has to maintain warranty as long as they cannot prove that rooting is the direct cause to whatever problem you have.

Exactly this. I was going to have to unroot , until I saw this. There is also another little screw to the right of the jack when looking at the back of the phone with the cover off. Check this one too. They were both loose on mine.

This also seems to have cured the hissing audio problem when using the audio while charging with a USB, which according to Samsung "is normal".
headphone jack issues.
II bought my note 2 used. The headphone jack was broken when I bought it. I've had the jack replaced twice in the past month. It keeps going out. The sound turns to static but if I move the plug, it will work a little while. Is this a note 2 defect or did I just buy a bad phone?

I got this issue just few weeks ago. I purchased a replacement audio jack, and installed it today. Not working. Then I tightened the screws a bit, and it worked! For a good ten seconds... and the issue remains.
Does anyone know the inner workings on this device? It seems to be a connecting issue. I tried adding some pressure around the audio jack area on top of the plastic cover, but it didn't help... The phone works just fine otherwise, and I happened to notice that the original headset volume rocker and microphone works but I can't hear anything!
i have this problem. nothing works
Having an interesting/annoying time with my n7105.
Dropped it one too many times, and the headhphones audio turned into a static hissing mess!
I found that by just smaching the phone against my knee or something solid, the audio would return for about an hour.
It got worse and worse and eventually I decided to fix it. I purchased a replacement audio receiver jack and installed it, but the problem still remains, so I'm unsure where the actual issue is occurring.
I found that by tightening a screw just below the audio jack, that it fixed the problem. I have to tension it just right... Too tight and the issue returns.
I think the issue must be with the connector on the motherboard, where the ribbon cable connects. I say this because the screw I'm tensioning to fix the issue sits pretty close to this, and would be pressuring this down and around.
So I'm not sure how I'd fix this without replacing the entire motherboard.
I'll crack it open again soon and have another dig at it.
---------- Post added at 10:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ----------
I've been doing a bit more research and found that someone may have already done the work for me.
I'll attempt this and report back with the result.
Post from Android Central forums
After my earlier rant I opened my phone and have managed to fixed my knee smacking problem. The problem was a bad ground between the screen and motherboard. I have added a picture of the two metal surfaces I cleaned (circled in yellow) to get the good connection back. These are not pics of my phone because it was apart obviously but it is the same phone. My sound is 100% crystal clear I believe the problem comes with dropping the phone and the connection going bad due to lack of enough screws in the area of the connection. I also ran the screw directly into the motherboard instead of through the plastic backing in the same area I circled. Stop smacking you're phones!!

Well I attempted half of this. I opened the phone up again and cleaned up the connections with some 100% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol (they had a bit of gunk on them).
Started putting the phone back together and cracked my screen. Hurray!
finished putting it back together and there's no improvement.
I'll pull it apart and place the above screw directly into the motherboard as instructed and see if that helps.
Will update upon completion.
My microphone has now given up. The person on the other side is not able to hear me completely.
The service centre guy is saying that I have to give approx 14000-15000 Rs(approx $235) to get a new refurbished phone. The outside market failed to repair it (some are asking upto 5000 for it and dont know the name of the set... idiots , and one of them even scratch and broke the display near the mic )
So I just want to confirm that if I just replace the mic flex cable i.e
http://www.maxbhi.com/flex-cable-for-sony-xperia-zl-c6502.html
will it solve the problem or there is something more to it?
Please Help!!!!!
Or is there any method to swap the primary and secondary mic functions
If this is so cheap (Rs.423), I think you should buy it and get a good a good mobile repair guy to simply swap it with this one in front of you. Pay only the labour cost to him. But get a good repairman who has experience in repairing costly phones, (iPhone repairman preferably) so that he won't **** up your device. Just my 2cents. Good luck mate.
I was asking just to get assure that changing this would fix the problem...
BTW finding that part was much easier than a good repairman as one of the good repairman has broken the front glass near the microphone
... if you don't do something stupid like I did. If you pay attention, research, watch videos, etc, you won't do what I did. I found a charging port on amazon that came with the tools needed to get the job done for about $15. I opened the case and all went well up to the point that I needed to disconnect the old piece. I followed all directions up to disconnecting the wide connection. There are 2. One right next to the port and the other at the opposite end of the ribbon cable. Not paying a bit of attention to what I was doing, instead of popping up the little latch that holds the cable down, I pried up the ribbon cable. Thus breaking off the connector that is soldered to the board. Now, I have a tablet that works until the battery dies.
Moral to the story, pay attention. Replacing the port is easy. Just pay attention.
Now, does anyone know if the connector can be replaced? Can I get a new board? Or am I out $400+?!
Follow-up question. I am looking around and it looks like I can get a replacement motherboard. Before I spend the money on a new motherboard (and hopefully not break this one), how will it function? I am rooted. Will I be starting from scratch with a stock tablet? No OS at all? Just fine and still rooted?
Thanks.

Wow - that would be awesome. Truth be told, I'm doubting this is something I'll be able to do myself, but I'm about to have a dead/useless tablet, and nothing to lose. So I'm willing to try!
Thanks!
Here are the broken pieces. In case anyone is thinking about doing this - they're very fragile!
Again, not sure about my ability to take the piece off of the motherboard, and/or attach a replacement.
Anyone ever try it before? I'm hoping I wouldn't have to take the motherboard out and/or solder anything!

Unfortunately the motherboard i have is broke and it doesnt start up. I thought it was the charging port so i cant help you out. You can buy a new board for 99 dollars though or just buy a used broke one off ebay and switch the board out. It is very easy to do and there are videos on you tube. People have used ones for cheap with broke lcds or screen burn. Buy one of those and switch out the top board cause that is all you need. I have all the other parts but my main board has something wrong with it. If you do that just make sure you get the same model number cause i just bought a verizon one and the motherboard wont work with my att one. I have 2 att ones that i was able to swap out.
