lg g4 connection to server failed - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

this is the error message i get when trying to flash the stock rom onto my lg g4. i bought a phone that had the google account locked out, so i figured i could get around that somehow. when i got to the part where the settings needed accessed in the vision menu, it was greyed out, so i did some more research. this led me to the lg flash tool i used today.
i went to this forum and downloaded all the items needed and installed the drivers, then put the phone into download mode and opened the tool as an administrator. i browsed to the file leaving it at cdma, diag, 33000. i hit cse flash to wipe it and it verified the phone connection. then it said connection to server reset. please try again later and made me exit. i tried again, then this time it it got to upgrading sw and went to 5%, then counted 6, 7, 8, and 9, and then said upgrade stopped due to an error. i have a log if that would help, it looks like it is having trouble extracting the file. i got the US99110c_03.kdz because that is my model of phone, but also tried an 815 in case it was a bad file. any suggestions are much appreciated.

looks like i have figured out what happened. finally, i got a tool started which gave me a thorough error message. it said the new rom was older than the one already there. now, the one dated 28 aug 15 is the newest one i can find anywhere. any ideas where i can find it?

Hey bud, did you ever figure out the issue? I'm having the same problem and can't get it working again. Same exact issue as you. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...bootlooped-t3654568/post73357821#post73357821

Invalid Tool Error

So..my phone is rather useless at the moment. Won't load the rom after freezing up while i slept last night. I go into bootloader and try to reflash but get the error "Invalid update tool" and it says something about a newer version. Has anyone had this error or know how to fix it? I am in desperate need of assistance here. Thank you for all replies in advance.
Edit: The exact error is as follows
Code:
ERROR[300]: INVALID UPDATE TOOL
This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer Update Utility.
I was running Kavana cooked rom 6.1.
I have tried to reflash with atleast 5 different roms and they all present this error.
Just checking, but did you try the default ROM for your device? If it is a T-mobile Dash, you will want to use one the the Tmobile stock ROM's first.

Yeah, I tried them and got the same error. Thanks, though.

I know this might be a stupid question of me but, did you do a hard reset?
Why would you make another thread regarding issues with your phone, when you already have a thread going about problems with your phone?
Please post accordingly You should've posted this other issue on your previous thread, rather than making a new one! Can you imagine if everyone would make a thread for every little issue with their phone?

It won't hard reset. I made a new topic because this is a completely different problem. I apologize if it was not necessary.
Bump.
Any ideas at all?
Ah yes.
My bomb didn't detonate until some time Wed/Thu night. 6am Thu morning I had to be at my local Polling Station where I was to be the 'Presiding Officer'.
Bad, bad timing.
Still, I managed a hard reset without the SD card in, (this took a few attempts), and having basic phone function, off I went to do my bit for European Democracy - honestly, the whole thing would be chaos without me ...
Anyway, I digress. I do that quite a lot. There was this one time ...
... I didn't get 'round to trying to sort it all out until Sat afternoon, (the phone, not the European Parliament), and as I have flashed this phone to buggery and beyond I expected it to take little time.
Ha. Ha. Ha.
I downloaded the latest version of the Energy ROM, (love it, love it, love it), ran the .bat file and; error 270.
I sparked up the bootloader and, of course, no connected device meant no update. I tried various 'stock' ROMs and got the same error you describe.
In UK, my provider is BT and there is no image link in the stickies, (I have finally found one, I will send a Mod a link), and tracking a full basic .exe image proved really difficult.
However, once found, all my problems evaporated.
So, find an executable basic ROM image from the phones' original provider, fire up the bootloader, run the .exe and a few minutes later you will be able to reflash.
Honest.
I believe you can also load the image as a .cab file onto the SD card and install from there but I didn't have to investigate this so can't promise anything. Sorry.
The ROM image is the key.
Once the bomb detonates, hard reset etc seems to become a bit flakey - keep trying.
I'm rambling again, aren't I?
Another beer I think ...
** Edit **
Yes, of course the BT ROM is now working.
Now I don't need it.
Ah well.

[Q] "Your call cannot be completed at this time" after root

Hi everyone
(ugh retyping this as the first time I hit submit and it went to a blank page without posting)
I have an ATT S3 i747 on the normal ATT Jellybean. I had rooted it with ICS, but after the Kies update it wasn't rooted anymore. I finally got around to rooting it again and had used the "galaxys3root" guy's tutorial the last time. I went to find it again and just clicked on the Root page he had on the front of his website. What I didnt realize is that I was looking at a tutorial for the international i9300 version. I flashed the TAR file with ODIN and it failed. I was then prompted to connect to KIES to fix the phone. I ended up just rebooting the phone and re-Rooting it with the correct version of the files. It started working again and I continued on with my day but had wondered if the failed root messed anything up.
Its been 2 days and my girlfriend told me she is having a hard time getting ahold of me. Yesterday this happened, but this morning it was really bad. From two different phones she would get "Your call cannot be completed at this time", no voicemail or anything while calling my phone. I decided to try it from my work land line and ran into the same message the first 3-4 times I called my cell. Finally the call went through, but the next time if failed again. After this, I called ~9 more times over 10 minutes and they have all gone through fine. The whole time i've had 4 bars and tried turning wifi off/on to see if it made a difference but it did not seem like it.
Is this a fluke with AT&T? Or is this related to what I did with the first root that failed? I dont know what all is changed when flashing the root TAR file, Would "un-rooting" do anything?
I appreciate your help, thanks:cyclops:

Well rooting itself doesnt cause the phone to stop working in theory. But it can cause issues if dont incorrectly. So you said you installed the wrong TAR file, that would cause the issue of the phone not booting properly. Id suggest flashing the right TAR file from that site. It will overwrite your incorrect one.
If this still causes issues, Id suggest just use Kies and Initialize the phone back to stock Jellybean by just clicking the Emergency Repair/Initialization and it will ask for your model put in "SGH-I747" and it will basically completely erase and initialize the phone to stock. If that still has issues, then you have some hardware issue.
Also make sure in the About screen your IMEI still shows up.

That is what I did to get it working again was flash the correct TAR file. the IMEI still shows up. It sounds like the issue is still happening so I may back it up with titanium and reset it.

SOLVED [HELP] LG G4 (H815P) Bricked "Authentication Fail #9"

Hello everyone
So, this is my problem here, I got my G4 last week, rooted it to debloat, followed the instructions I found here on XDA, and it was working as a charm.
The problem came when I wanted to change the (micro) SD card to another phone, I took the back cover off, took out the SD card, and a warning message about the SD card might be damaged came on screen.
So I turned off the G4, after I was ready to put back the SD, tried to power on the phone again and the error message appeared.
"Security Error, Auth Fail #9" and then it just won't boot.
Hope anyone can help me.
I was on stock Telcel Firmware, had rebooted the phone several times before with no issues so far.
Never mind, I just reflashed stock firmware found
here: http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/
then followed this steps
Tutorial: http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/install.php
So, after a clean flash, it booted again, as Iv'e had it for just one week, nothing was lost.
Hope this helps anyone else facing this strange problem.
By the way, if anyone know something about the possible cause for this malfunction, I woud really appreciate you sharing info.
Cheers!
i Have had the same problem i was woundering if you could please walk me through the steps on how you fixed yours.
I recently just bought a new LG G Stylo with MetroPCS. this is my first time being with android so i took it upon my self to root the phone and see what all i could do with it. Everything worked fine for a couple of days then i tried to reset my phone and when it tried to come back on the lg logo cane up and it said Authentication fail #9. I try to factory reset the phone but it goes back to the same screen. I can not put the phone in download mode and my computer does not detect that there is a phone there. If there is anyone who can help me please it will be greatly appreciated.

How can be LG G4 H815P be rooted, have read many tutorials, but no one is for the variant "P" (Telcel).
Thanks!!!
Hello!
Well, I found out the source of the problem on "error 9".
As it happened again a couple days after posting the thread.
In my case, when I uninstalled LG apps, such as music and video apks, "error 9" would come up on next boot.
Follow the tutorials, the most important thing is to have the right version of SW to your phone.
Also, I had to download LG bridge, then a pop-up came telling that drivers for the phone should be updated, I just accepted the update and then my phone was detected on my PC .
If you encounter a problem, please provide me a little more info (with caps if possible).
Hope to help you.

@joyousfrank. I've just been de-bloating my phone and managed to get a Security Error problem and was hoping to use this method to get the thing live again. Trouble is that Google is blocking the LGFlashtool download link. Any chance you have another link or could maybe upload a copy of the tool somewhere? Cheers

I used this thread as a guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765
(Follow the steps for International H815 10c Version)
This is the rooted image I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/...on-root-lg-t3164765/post62251256#post62251256
After you download it just unzip it, and rename the .img file to "system.rooted.H81510c-EU"
The file must be system.rooted.H81510c-EU.img
Hope to help.
Cheers!

Hello!
The first thing to do, is to find the right SW foy your phone model (and carrier) as I read some problems when flashing other different than stock.
Look up here http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/download.php there's where I found the SW for Telcel. Just input your IMEI on that page and it will give you a download link.
Then, follow this steps http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/install.php
It's important to tell you that my phone wasn't detected by my PC until I downloaded LG Bridge as it comes with the latest drivers, so I recommend you to do this if you face the "not-detecting phone PC".
And for last, I suppose that there should be thread with a list of safe to uninstall apps (this is my first LG so not totally sure).
As there's enough room for apps on the phone, I just ended freezing annoying apps with Link2SD to avoid having the "Authentcation Error #9" problem.
Hope to help you, cheers!

First time messing with my phone, and it looks super soft bricked.

Hello, first timer here. I have never tried rooting or anything, but today I finally decided to... and messed it up.
Verizon Samsung Note 2 SCH-i605 (yes, still.)
Got it on July 2nd, 2013, so I believe it was build 4.1.1 kernel 3.1? Not too sure on the legalities
Completely unrooted and unmodded
I was using kingo root and everything was fine until it hit about 52% on the rooting process when my computer lost connection with my phone. Since, it gave me the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" problem. So then I google-fu'd and followed directions of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120726
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582290
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
etc.
and used Odin 3.10.7 (and 3.10.0 just in case, both on and off admin mode cause why not) on every single md5 available in all those links and the one from sammobile.com for sch-i605.
And each time, I would either received failure on "sboot.bin" or receive the "System Software Not Authorized" error if succeeded (it was stuck in bootload? too, kept flashing the logo then the error message). The VERY first time, however, it actually brought me to that page where I'm allowed to press things like erase cache, factory reset, or reboot my phone. There, I chose all those options in the order I've listed them. And ever since I haven't seen that screen again.
My issue seems to be every problem I can find put together, and can't seem to resolve it with my skills alone. I honestly don't care about recovering my data (which I believe is impossible now anyway) or rooting my phone. I just want it to turn on again.
Thanks in advance.
p.s. getting a new phone isn't an option currently
-edit-
Checked my verizon wireless software upgrade assistant for some info, and it says "Up to date" and "Version ND3" if that means anything to you pros out there.

KIES is unable to read my phone (tried the bottom 3 versions of it), and I've tried running Odin 3.07 and unchecked repartition for every stock and restore md5s I had for my phone... the ones that didn't fail sboot.bin are still giving me unauthorized error.
I'll keep trying all the combinations, but it seems moot at this point.

flash stock image on tmobile variant help

So I bought this phone brand new on OfferUp, everything worked fine upon Meetup. After going home there was an update for it (it was on the may patch) for the July patch. I accepted it and it says update couldn't be completed so I was like meh I'll take care of it later. So I tried to reboot and when I rebooted everything was force closing and I couldn't do anything. I tried factory resetting with the power button and hold the volume up but that didn't work. Now I tried to use the lgup tool to flash the tmo us 0525 kdz and it was working fine but at 77 percent it failed with an error of 0x7004 an update boot change fail. I tried it multiple times and it keeps failing. Am I screwed now? I read a lot on xda and someone commented that you need lgup tool 1.15 to flash successfully but it hasn't been released yet. I think the phone works fine it just probably had an error while taking the ota from T-Mobile and it messed things up.
