What's up guys?
I'm currently in Japan and own a US Unlocked HTC 10. Currently I'm on ATT and while out here, I have all my bars and LTE. However, ATT is mad expensive as far as international, so I need to get a Japanese provider. I was gonna go with docomo or Softbank which all support HTC 10 LTE and 3G bands. I think like 18 of them. Anyway, what is the advantage to changing my Cid and mid and fully converting to international WWE? Will it help with compatibility on Japanese networks? Or is is just how fast I will receive updates from HTC?
Bump?
Just the recieving of updates. Do yourself a favor, S-OFF your phone and convert it to WWE. Much easier life when it's on WWE plus you can use it on AT&T when you're back and you get faster updates .
Regards, Talpes
If it's just updates, I may just leave it. When firmware updates come out, I always use RUUs cause I like to completely wipe and reinstall everything. If I were to get better signal strength or compatibility with Japanese networks I would do it.
However, I am S-off, unlocked, so its not difficult if I need to.
Thanks man!

i am about to switch from the note 3 the only android phones i have used were from samsung so i am a total noob when it comes to the htc dev community...i am about to buy an m8 which is from verizon usa but is sim unlocked meaning it can work in my country pakistan...the questions i have are as follows
the phone is from verizon will i be able to flash all the custom roms like PA,CM and other AOSP roms?because in samsungs world there are different roms for tmobile etc.
will flashing roms affect my phones unlocked status?
can i turn my phone into a gpe edition phone?
if there are any other hiccups or bugs which i should check before buying the phone please fill me in folks.
First of you need to look at which bands are used in your country and compare them to the Verizon bands. Which can be found on google as I cannot link to other websites . Most countries outside of the US have carriers that use GSM networks so beware as verizon does not and uses a CDMA network. If you have a carrier in pakistan that uses GSM bands you can look at buying an AT&T version and look if bands coincide.
I would also suggest buying a unlocked phone which would make things much easier, as some custom roms cannot be flashed on the verizon/sprint version. If you want to flash custom roms you do need to unlock the bootloader. As I said above GPE roms usually do not work with verizon/sprint edition of a phone, as far as I know you can flash a GPE rom from phones on other carriers. Still I heavily suggest buying an unlocked phone.
I myself am using an unlocked HTC One M8 and have found no bugs whatoever and use a GPE rom and everything is smooth as silk. It's an amazing phone and worth the last penny but if your phone won't work with the bands in your country it's useless so be carefull!
If you can buy a used model with s-off. It'll save you any potential headaches.

thank you for the reply i checked up on the bands and they said it is gsm supported and the bands were alright but i found the verizon thread and there was a very weak number of roms so im holding off .
Ok, so I haven't been an HTC user since the HD2 (Loved that device). Bought a T-Mobile branded one m8 and got the carrier unlock code with the phone. Unlocked it, used all in one toolkit to unlock/root/twrp. Now I didn't have any issues with the phone (got mms and 4g lte no problem) but sick of the bloat, t-mobile startup screen etc. As I'm new to the HTC game, is S-Off worth getting for the $25? I'm wondering if the ATT radio will make my phone work any better, or an AT&T rom (stock or custom) would improve the phones connectivity. Sometimes people say i'm cutting out during a phone call (I live in Chicago, this usually never happens to me). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I have no problem paying $25 , just don't want to if it's not needed.
Personally, I'd S-OFF and then flash the Dev Edition RUU so, in essence, make the device an unbranded handset free of bloat

I went ahead and got S-Of and flashed Insert Coin. What I'm wondering is if flashing an ATT radio will help strengthen my connectivity (the LTE seems slow).

Assuming you are with T-mobile, the answer is probably no, and it may actually make things worse - especially if you are concerned about LTE. T-mobile and AT&T are both GSM providers, and you can switch between them, but they don't perfectly overlap in terms of bands used.
That said, since you are S-off, you can try it and see what happens. If you don't feel it is an improvement, put it back on the T-mobile radio.
I'm actually using AT&T, that's why I was wondering if the Radio change would help. The phone was originally a T-Mobile phone that was carrier unlocked via a code tmobile gave my friend.

Ah, then yes, you should switch radios - and for the same reason.
I would also suggest switching to the Developer Edition software. It is functionally identical to the AT&T version, minus the AT&T (or T-mobile) crap. In fact, the DE and AT&T versions only differ in CID - they share the same MID.
Hi,
Does the German HTC One M8 has a Multi-band support for american networks?
thx
For T-Mo and AT&T, yes.
For Sprint and Verizon, no.
How can I find out which Version do I have? (I have bought it on ebay)
install adb & fastboot
reboot to fastboot
type " fastboot getvar all " in cmd
post the result after removing serialno and imei
Checked the mid. Bad luck Verizon :/ thanks anyway

Meaning what, the US network you want to use is Verizon?
If so, than you need a Verizon version phone. No way around that, they don't have a GSM based network, its CDMA.
Also, even for AT&T and T-Mob US, a Euro version M8 won't have all the bands needed for LTE. Although, 3G and voice/SMS should work fine.
good
I have the same problem?
siemre I used htc one m8 since 2014 and recently bought another because he had sold it turns out that changing operator in my country, El Salvador.
which it is the company Digicel and using the band 900 Mhz to 4G.
It is to change the m8 and is supposed to be international version but it turns out it's version of att as I can do to release the bands and use it with any operator.
greeting
This is not remotely the same problem. The OP has the German version, want to use it on a US network, possibly a CDMA one (Verizon - although that part is not clear per my comment above).
I'd return the phone, if you can. There is no guarantee you can get LTE 900 MHz running properly on this device. At a minimum, it would cost you $25 US to s-off by sunshine (unless its already s-off), and then you can flash a different radio baseband firmware. Even then, its not a sure thing that it will work on your LTE network. I've seen plenty of cases where phones properly "converted" to the proper band support, still won't work on the desired LTE band.
So the money for s-off may just be wasted (plus the time and effort). Plus, if the phone is not previously modified, you may be voiding whatever return/refund rights you have (if you have any).
My family has a contract with T-Mobile, and I am looking at buying a factory unlocked version of it that has not been activated on any network.
I have heard about wi-fi calling not working unless I flash a T-mobile stock rom to it; is this simply referring to the roms on the htc support website or is it about something else?
Will 4g lte work? I checked and it seems that it uses the same bands as the T-mobile but are there other factors in this?
Will there be any other potential issues I should check for?
I am not phone-savvy so any and all help will be incredibly appreciated!
I have the developer edition M9 on T-Mobile (USA) and can confirm that there are no reception issues (full 4G/LTE compatibility). You are correct about wifi calling - this is baked into the T-Mobile ROM. If you achieve S-OFF and change the CID & MID, you can install that and have wifi calling too. There are guides aplenty and we're happy to help you if you go that route.
T-Mobile is pretty great with getting software updates out in a timely manner, but they have not yet released Android 7 (Nougat). It is coming though, so I don't see any downside whatsoever to having the unlocked M9 on their network.
I bought a new HTC 10 on ebay and it's the unlocked international version. I didn't realize there is a US unlocked and International variants, I assumed carrier unlocked was an international variant. I'm on Tmobile which aparently uses some band that I'm not able to pick up and therefore I've been relegated to hspa for my data. Quite disappointing.
Can I S-Off and change to either Super CID or the TMobile CID and flash the radio and firmware for T-Mobile and get the phone to pick up the LTE so i can get my high speed data?
I can't find anywhere that tells me if the hardware is the same and that the radio is software configurable and therefore can activate the AWS bands with the correct radio/firmware/ruu or something of the like..
Did I totally blow it buying the int'l version of the 10 unlocked, or can I hack it to run properly on Tmobile LTE?

Yes you can do that. Get S-Off, change your CID and MID and flash US Unlocked.

Very good to know. Follow up. Is this easy enough to reverse if I need to use my warranty?

OK. so I did all that and am now running unlocked us firmware. I think I'm having the LTE reception issues I had read about. flashing the T-Mobile ruu should fix that right?
Ps
Thanks a million for the prompt replies BTW. I've had this phone for a couple minutes and I feel good to finally get things working like they should be.

I can't vouch for the ruu fixing your lte issues. I've seen mixed reporting around for stuff like this. I would try it and see if it works.

Well, T-mobile has been doing upgrades on the network and there has been a lot of space weather causing power outages and hiccups in other electronic devices. My home WiFi has been connecting and dropping left and right! I too have the T-mobile version of the HTC 10 but I did unlock the SIM and did the full conversion to the North American unlocked developer version and it has been absolutely issue free!! You might want to double check to see if the radios in the International version are using band 12,and band 4 for LTE... I lost my LTE after a long run doing the same thing with the original HTC One M7
I feel your pain

Unfortunately HTC enabled/disabled certain LTE bands in the modem firmware depending on the region. The unlocked international doesn't play nice with T-mobile AWS. Flashing the RUU doesn't change the NV values in the modem, so you'll still be stuck with HSPA for the most part. I'm in AZ, and I can get band 12 and sometimes the non-AWS band 4, but neither are super fast. The snapdragon 820 does support all the necessary bands, they just need to be unlocked. We have the issue that qualcomm has put protection on the LTE firmware, so the old way of using QXDM/QPST doesn't work like it did on the 810 and earlier chipsets. There's some other threads on here that thing a custom kernel might open up the possibility of using the QXDM to edit NV values to unlock the necessary bands.
