Hello, I have Skyraider 3.5 and I Don't think it supports Iptables. Does anyone have a fix for this? Or know a ROM that does work?
Thanks
Why and how would you use iptables on a cell phone?
to restrict programs to use wifi, ou 3g
Miui has a firewall app which allows u to select which apps are allowed internet access

Does anybody know what version of the Wireless Tether for root users works with the rooted stock ROM for the Inc2? Tried the latest 3.1 beta (3.1b6) but it doesn't work.
try this
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk
Im using the 2.0.7 wireless tether and does not work on my dinc 2, im running tsm_gingerbangsense_2 this is the message. Cannot communicate with DNS server (#########) Network diagnostic pinged the remote host but did not receive a response.
In the network and sharing center i can see this (this computer-Android tether-----x-----)
works fantastic on inc2HD
I found that Open Garden app works just great.
Not being able to communicate with the dns server means your phone can't connect to the internet, so there is nothing to rebroadcast via wifi. are you within a good signal area for 3g, and does your data work in other apps?

Hi OP.
Enable mss clamping and routing fix in settings on the newest beta. You will be up and running in seconds.
I noticed that using power savers may disable tethering. Uninstall those as well.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried multiple tethering apps and none of them work and last time I tried using open garden it broke my 3G and I had to revert to a backup. I'm running MIUI 10.7.
This may be a dumb question, but can root users use the 3g hotspot found in wireless settings for free? Or do I need to download another app.

All depends on the ROM. If you're running the stock ROM but just rooted you'll need another app. Some ROM developers hack the built in app.
I use wireless teather 2.0.7 its from google and have no problems

I have tried a number of 4.2.1 ROMS and still have yet to find one that will let me tether my laptop. I have tried the native wifi tether...and the tethering app... It used to have no issues working with my laptop on 4.1...but since I jumped to 4.2 I can't seem to get anything going here.... Is there a working wifi tether or am I SOL...

Im currently using this ROM and native wifi tether works perfectly fine. I should add that I'm on R6, 4.2( R8 is the current one which is 4.2.1) as I've had no need to update it.
Ok..as soon as I can find a R6 ROM I will give that a shot and see what gives... My laptop connects but it says "limited connectivity" ... basically no internet...
Would the kernel make a difference? If I ran a 4.2 kernel?
Works with the Paranoid Android ROM and Franco Kernel as well.
Damn...PA is a R8 release? What the hell is wrong with mine then..LOL

If you still can't find R6 let me know, I'll upload my copy
I don't tether my laptop since I only use it at home, but I tether my nexus 7 all the time and it works fine on 100% stock and rasbean with trinity.

iLeopard if you could that would be great...it seems like everyone has switched over to R8 builds from what I can see...
Is it at all possible that it could be a kernel issue in 4.2.1 for me? The laptop connects fine, just no internet access...

works with rasbean jelly rom amd trinity kernel.
Took a while, but here it is:
R7
Pretty sure all custom ROMs has this built in. Sounds like it may be an issue with something else.

That's true, however for whatever reason this function was not fully functional in quite a few of the ROM's i've used in the past.
I been trying to get my vita to work with my tether on R8 and muzzy ROM and it connects fine but won't connect to PSN servers. But I hear some people got it to work on 4.1

I'm using rasbean and with trinity kernel. And I can't get it to work either. Using wifi tether it gives me errors and won't show the created network. It has errors in the log creating "ap". If I try to use the builtin app it creates an "ap" and allows me to connect, but it won't actually let me to browse the Internet. This is over two rasbean roms and the stock kernel and trinity kernel. I've tried changing the device to the gsm version and I have also tried using different apps. Open garden, barnacle, etc. So I do know what else to do.
Thanks ...

I would first try flashing it clean. Wipe System/Data and Factory reset. Then before installing anything test the Native tether to see if it works. I suggest using Cyanogenmod because many ROMs are built off of it, but that is your choice. I also suggest you try connecting another device to the AP to make sure the problem is not your actual laptop. Try tethering a tablet or another phone and see if it works.
Are there any other free tethering apps? I was usint foxfi since i got the device but now im getting the tmo hotspot info page on every webpage i go to idk why foxfi just stop working for me now any alternates i can use?

The app posted supports only ad-hoc connections according to the description.
I haven't seen any android versions that supported ad-hoc connections by default. You've always needed to replace wpa_supplicant to make ad-hoc networks visible to android wifi devices. Note that you can broadcast ad-hoc without changes. You just won't see ad-hoc networks without changes.

i really dont get it, what's the point of tether apps like PDAnet+ or Foxfi?
The default built-in tethering functions (wifi hotspot, usb tethering, OR bluetooth) work fine and free. am i missing something here..?
I am guessing they meant they are running the sharing app on another device (since they mentioned tmobile). So the tmo phone is sharing the tmo connection and nexus 7 is using that shared connection to access the net.

O really? is it because tmobile detects the built-in tethering and does not want to allow it? Because i'm with Rogers (canada) and i've been using the built-in bluetooth tethering (JB 4.2.2) of my cellphone data plan to my Wifi tablet (galaxy tab 2) for a long time now and it works all the time.

I'm using RR KK official by @xenon92 v.5.0.5 .
I having problem with my internet connection since using this custom rom.
The connection for data is unstable (often lost data connection) and can't reach to maximal speed.
I detect this problem because I didnt have this problem when i using stock rom.
I already Contact the operator and no internet or network issue.
I hope in this forum can solve this problem..

such things happen and you should put this bug in the rom's thread so in next build the dev might surely fix it

Is it happening only with RR? Have you tried using any other cm based ROMs. Is it the same.
I too have experienced this. i.e. connection becomes idle after sometime. But i thought its problem with the operator.

Yeahh, I already solved this problem with 'Phone Info' app and I set preferred network type to WCDMA only.
Because on this ROM we can't set the network to WCDMA only.
Now, my internet connection is more stable. But I still have issue with internet connection cant reach to highest internet speed on mobile network.
Thx all for your response and trying to help.. :good:
