I currently have an older TWRP (2.7.8.0) and would like to update it to the latest version, mostly because I want to upgrade to the latest CM (13.0, currently on 12.1).
1. What's the best method? Do I use the Heimdall Suite from PC or can I do it from TWRP or something else? Same procedure as going from stock recovery to TWRP?
2. Is 3.0.2-1 the latest and stable? I just ask because the TWRP home page says the latest is 3.0.2-0 so I'm wondering about the -1 thing.
As you have a custom recovery installed already you can get the zip version and flash via your existing recovery, get the one specific for your version of S4 Mini of course! (or flash tar via Odin as you did before, he says you should ALWAYS use Odin if coming from legacy TWRP or CWM as safer!)
The -1 (or whatever number) is a release code @ne0zone75 adds, it is not part of official version number so 3.0.2-1 is TWRP version 3.0.2 code base.
As he recently explained here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68162047&postcount=1138
Thanks. I ended up using Heimdall Suite and it went fine (Odin never worked for me).

Hello, I wanted to root and install TWRP then a KitKat ROM that's NOT altered or one that's been running and is a proven daily ROM. I haven't messed with Roms or phones for some time so I got all the info I need up to the ROM and I cant seem to find a stock rom. Any ideas?
Thanks!

This is the latest NE1 4.4 stock firmware (france) from sammobile uploaded to a different host by an user for faster download speeds, extract the zip file you'll find a .tar.md5 file flash it via ODIN.Then you can just install custom recovery via pc odin (use philz 6.26 ot 6.41 initially and once you get a custom recovery successfully installed you can switch to twrp) now once into philz recovery flash supersu 1.99 from this post flash it right after you flash your recovery ,your phone should be rooted.Few things that you need to do is uncheck auto reboot in odin when flashing the recovery, after flashing philz you should manually enter it by pressing the right combination of buttons ( volume up + home + power) and then flash the supersup 1.99 zip file right away. (place the supersu zip file in sd card right after you flash the 4.4 ROM and before you proceed to install custom recovery)
Philz touch
twrp
NE 1 Stock France
Unclear
singhpratik87, I'm a little unclear on the sequence your proposing me to go through to install a ROM. I thought you installed;
1) Superuser ...... Done!
2) ODIN Custom Recovery (TWRP) ...... Done!
3) NE1 4.4 ROM ..... Downloaded moved to phone but not installed...
Ok here are my concerns, I'm on a AT&T 1317 phone will this ROM work OR would a custom ROM be better? Next, what is Philz touch?
Thanks,
Soggy

See you didn't mention that you were on AT&T,unfortunately it wouldn't work you got to wait for your carrier to release the update. My explanations were pretty straight forward but now it doesn't matter anymore since you don't have the international note II GT N7100. The rom was supposed to be flashed via ODIN not SD CARD (it's a stock rom not a custom rom). And the steps are (for future reference) flash stock rom via odin, then flash philz via odin(uncheck auto reboot in odin),manually enter into recovery mode , flash supersu 1.99(or whichever is the latest) , reboot phone , DONE.
Philz touch is another popular recovery used by note II users .it's based on CWM with advanced features.
singhpratik87..... What custom ROM out there is equivalent to the 4.4 kitkat for a AT&T I317 Note 2 running 4.3? Those would prob be better anyway....
Also this other recovery you mention is it better? Like I said I have been out of messing with phones for a few years Thanks!

None in the International Note II forum that would be compatible with AT&T as far as 4.4.2 is concerned. There's no development for 4.4.2 in your a&t note II thread?
why don't you check out this thread which is specifically for your at&t branded note 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2-att/development
Hi, I have a galaxy s3 (SGH-i747M) with Telus and I would like to install cyanogenmod because touchwiz in a total bull****. Unfortunatly, my phone is «acting weird» and I can't install it.... I succeeded in rooting the phone, installing superSU and clockworkmod recovery but I can't flash the rom! When I want to flash it (cyanogenmod version stable 10.2.1....), I get the deadly error 7! I read that some people resolve this issue by updating their baseband, but I'm a little lost when it come to that.... I also tried to flash the rom with cyanogenmod installer, but even if the program said the install is a success, my phone encountered a unknown error and just reboot with a «clean» version of touchwiz. (This was not due to Knox, I desabled this crap when I install superSU.) Please, help me! (I softbrick my phone twice and hardbrick one previously, now he's ok but I don't want to trash it ...)
Here my phone info:
Android 4.3
Version baseband I747MVLUEND2
Kernel 3.0.31-2140838 [email protected] #1
Version number JSS15J.I747MLUEND2
I recommend flashing Philz Touch via Odin, boot into recovery, wipe, and flash a Kit kat custom ROM.
If you soft brick the phone again, you can use Odin to flash a pre-rooted ROM from XDA.
What recovery are you using? TWRP or Philz touch are your best options. make sure recovery is up to date.
Hello
I am currently running the latest version of TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-d2att) and I am trying to flash CM 11, but I get an error in red "Failed"
I am even getting a failed error as well when flashing the bootloader in the thread below.
I have successfully been able to flash SlimKat 4.4.4 and Dirty Unicorn with no problems. I think I had the same problems as well when trying to flash Paranoid Android.
I have tried flashing the files from both the external SD card and Internal. No go.
This is the thread I am following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682905
Here is the error I get when flashing:
You cannot flash from your current bootloader. Current version: I747MVLUEFNE6
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/Flash/CM/1/boot_CWM_I747MVLUEMK5.zip'
Try using the latest version of Philz Touch for the d2lte to flash files.
You can flash the most recent zip from TWRP.

Ok, so I flashed the latest zip using the TWRP App rebooted into PhilZ Recovery and tried to flash the bootloader ( boot_CWM_I747MVLUEMK5.zip) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321310
Still got an error: Please upgrade to latest binary...You cannot flash from your current bootloader. Current version: I747MLUFNE6
E: Error in /storage/sdcard1/Flash/CM/1/boot_CWM_I747MVLUENK5.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted
Do not flash any bootloader to your phone. It is good that it did not flash mk5 over ne6. This will brick for phone.

Ok thanks. Where can I find the latest boot-loader for my device? I was trying to follow this guide to flash CM11 and it told me to download the latest boot-loader and update it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682905
I guess the thread I wrote above is an outdated guide to flashing CM11. Would you happen to know the steps I should take to flash cm11 for my device with my current bootloader?
BTW I still can't flash the CM11 Rom in Philz Touch Recovery.
Iv never had any issues using philz touch to flash.

You have the ne6 bootloader. Do you have an i747m or i747? It will make a difference when it comes to flashing an updated bootloader and modem.
Are you downloading the latest CM11 from the cyanogen site?

Thanks for helping out so far. My Model number that shows up in "About Device" in my phone's settings say SGH-I747M. Yes I am downloading the latest CM11 Nightly build here : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte
P.S.
Will I bay able to go back to stock if I don't like CM11? I heard that it will brick my phone from rolling back the boot loaders. What if I restore from a nandroid backup, will that work to restore to stock without bricking my device?
With a custom recovery, you can create a backup, flash your ROM, and you can restore the backup if you don't like cm11.

Ok thats good. Though I still have the problem of flashing CM11. It still fails on me on TWRP or Philz Touch Recovery. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
What error are you getting? What cm11 ROM are you flashing?

Never mind, found out that I had to run the factory reset in PhilZ Touch first then flash the rom. Alls good, but didn't like CM11.
Though why didn't it work on TWRP?
I had issues with TWRP flashing ROMs too. Once I switched to Philz which is based on CWM, I had no issues flashing the same ROMs that TWRP would not flash.
I just installed the newest firmware for my sm-p607t, which is android 5.1.1. i have tried all auto root methods like cf auto root, kingroot, etc etc. with no luck. I really need root for half my apps i use need it. Is there any way to get root on this newest firmware? It seems like this tablet has been forgotten about and no one seems interested in it anymore.
Maybe you need a permissive kernel like was needed for note 4 5.1.1 firmware..
No clue, but for the life of me I can't get TWRP to stick. As soon as It boots up it reverts back to stock recovery
Can you try to install twrp by odin first? Then you should be able to flash the root zip file.
twrp seems to be for android 4.4 still for the sm-p607t, also just tried it and it wont work either.
I didn't know there was another way to flash Twrp w/out Odin. , I tried flashing TWRP and it says it's flashes successful but Twrp doesn't stick. I suspect that Twrp does work it just gets over written. This also happens on Nexus with stock rom, although with bootloader you can boot directly into recovery, and flash zip and install rom or block stock recovery from sticking
Deleted.
DISCLAIMER: Try this on tour own risk, I am not responsible for fried tablets. Always backup.
At this time there is no root for the new t-mobile 5.11 firmware.
Also on Europe and Asia the P605 lte model of this tablet had the 5.1.1 update and have the same problem.
With this procedure you will have the updated 5.1.1 bootloader, baseband and the most important, root.
But with a 5.02 custom ROM.
The ROM is a port from the P905, galaxy Note Pro 12.2 lte, with added features and the magazine launcher.
This was my ROM before upgrading to 5.1.1.
After checking out the new stock t-mobile 5.1.1 firmware, honestly I was not impressed.
There are 3 small fixes on the ROM's thread, plus search on xda for the stagefright fix and you will have
a perfectly working full featured ROM.
Thanks to Alan-B, the developer.
Flashed the new P607T 5.1.1 firmware with Odin 3.09.
Boot OK and let it alone for 10 minutes. Reboot twice.
Back to download mode.
Flashed TWRP 2.8.6.0-lt03ltexx-4.4 with Odin.
This version of TWRP works OK, it is slow to
start up, but works.
Read that newer versions are having some issues.
Then flashed the Supersu 2.46 zip with TWRP.
Did 3 factory resets and wipe 3 times dalvik, data, system, and cache.
Then flash the zip of the P605 ver. 0.09 Pyrana ROM from the note 10.1 2014 ed. Development section.
Only Roms for the P605 lte tablet are compatible with the P607T.
For me the stock rom bootloops after flashing
Supersu 2.46 with Odin, so better have ready on
the sd card ver 0.09 of the 5.02 Pyrana custom rom.
Flashed it and my P607T boot up OK.
Ver. 0.11 of this ROM did not boot on my tablet,
even after flashing with Odin the boot.img, provided on the OP,
so stick with ver. 0.09 + the fixes.
So far, TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery and my P607T working perfectly.
so you have Pyrana rom and root? or you have found this method to gain root to the official p607t firmware? (t-mobile android version 5.1.1) Because im seeking the official stock rom with touchwiz plus root. or if someone who can build a stocky rom + root.
The official P607T 5.1.1 firmware bootloops after
flashing supersu 2.46. Not sure if the reason is TWRP 2.8.6.0 or the supersu 2.46 zip not being
compatible with the 5.1.1 stock rom.
Will be good to try supersu 2.49 beta.
After bootlooping my last resource was going back to TWRP and flash the P605 Pyrana ROM.
Prefer to have updated 5.1.1 baseband and root with the 5.02 Pyrana rom than the full stock 5.1.1 rom without root.

same .... Pending a solution boot compatible !!!.
I tried the instructions on Post 144 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...3215876/page15
It works without doing Step 1 (i.e. on the Stock Tmobile ROM)! All credit goes to @bluecat for doing the work and @M3r71n0 for the English translation!
@sandibhatt - This link is not working for me. Were you able to root 5.1.1? If so can you please re-post a valid link or some instructions? Thank you in advance for your help.

SHORT SUMMARY FOR ROOT AND RECOVERY MOD FOR FIRMWARE P605XXU1EOI5
TRIP KNOX - TRIP KNOX - TRIP KNOX

9) Boot the system/tablet
10) Flash "Kernel with ramdisk mod"
11) Boot the system/tablet

14) Boot the system/tablet
End
For those with Wifi or Data issues just reflash your 5.1.1 rom manually until it gets fixed. (Which is basically what steps 1-9 are for)
In short, if you are already on version 5.1.1 do steps 10~14
Exact Step by step:
1. Get into Download Mode
2. Odin Flash the Kernel
3. Reboot and then turn off
4. Go back into Download Mode and flash TWRP Make sure Auto-Reboot is unchecked and after flashing power down manually.
5. Get into recovery using the Button combo. (Note this may take a minute or two for first install)
6. Either Sideload the Beta SuperSU v2.50 or have it on a mSD card or something and flash inside TWRP.
7. Reboot and Enjoy Root!
Also, If you have updated the sofware from T-Mobile (607T) you don't have to reflash the NEE-P605XXU1EOI5 software.
I have been able to get the 5.1.1 installed, updated kernel, SuperSU Beta, and TWRP 2.8.7.0.
Now I keep getting a Security Notice that "unauthorized actions have been detected". I found a suggestion about opening SuperSU and it should fix it, but nothing has worked so far
@sandibhatt & @HermitDash Thank you for your help here guys! This worked perfectly!
problem with root
This root method worked, but did anyone else have an issue with the wifi not storing passwords after reboot?
Possible solutions: tried to find and clear duplicate entries in the wifi config file in the data folder.. but there was no wifi config file.
i have the same issue wifi passwords not storing after wifi on and off or a reboot

I recently rooted and installed TWRP on my oneplus3.
There is a stock update available for my phone: OxygenOs 4.1.0.
TWRP seems to block the automated install and based on what I read on their website I shouldn't install it that way.
Can I download the stock ROM from h2os and safely install it with TWRP? I wanted to ensure this wouldn't cause issues
