Hey all,
So today i updated to the latest build of Purenexus, however when i flashed SuperSU the rom keep bricking, i've liked to backup my rom.. So now i want to go on Cyanogenmod.
However, i have only 16gb on my Nexus, and i can't keep backups on the internal storage.
So my idea is to make an backup directly by my laptop. Anyone has an idea how i can do this?
Not possible. The only option is to get USB OTG dongle and pendrive to store the backups in it

I received a replacement galaxy nexus today from Amazon. I made a nandroid backup using CWM recovery on the old Galaxy Nexus phone. Pulled the sim card from the new phone, put it in the new phone to confirm it worked. I then tried to connect my old phone to the PC to copy over the nandroid, but now the computer will not mount the phone and i am unable to see anything on the phone. I tried putting a new sim card in the phone but the computer still does not see the phone. I have the galaxy nexus toolkit kit installed but it does not show it attached currently.
All i'm trying to do is copy the nandroid backup i created on the old phone to the new phone. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Most likely you need to disable "USB fast charge" and the comp will recognize your phone again. As far as the restore, why not use TiBu?
Thank you so much, disabling fast charge did the trick.
I must confess that even though i have the Pro TiBu, I don't really understand all of what it can do. I was under the impression that it simply backed up the apps and system data. Does it also back up music etc similar to a CWM nandroid backup?

You can use your nandroid.
I used to pop old nandroids from my DX onto it's refurbished brothers without problem.
Does the replacement phone have to be unlocked and rooted prior to installing the old phone's nandroid or will the nandroid carry over the unlock and root status? Thanks!
The new phone needs to be unlocked with a custom recovery if you want to restore the nandroid. Root will come with the nandroid.
I haven't been able to find any kind of help for what was carbon backup (now Helium) leading me to believe there aren't usually issues with it... But before puttin a custom ROM onto my note I wanted to backup some app data from what I had been doing on the stock it came with, obviously Koush's backup caught my attention due to not needing root but the PC part won't detect my device no matter what I do - can anyone offer me any suggestions?
I have recently acquired a Telus/Koodo GSM HTC One V and successfully installed Shpongle. I noticed there were problems when connecting the phone to my computer, it appears as two removable devices and a CD drive. I never did try connecting the phone to a computer in its stock condition, I assumed transferring files to the phone would not be an issue. Anyway, I decided to restore the backup I created of the stock ROM installation to see if there is a greater hardware issue with the phone. The result of the backup is a phone that hangs on the splash screen.
What I have done to the phone up to this point.
Unlock the bootloader
Root
Flash Recovery - TWRP v2.3.3.0
Backup Stock ROM with TWRP
Install custom ROM (shpongle_primou-20130521) and Kernel (boot-HELLBOY-20130514 )
Install GAPPS
Noticed problem with when trying to copy files to the phone.
Restore backup of stock ROM - failed
I can still get to the bootloader and the recovery.
If the connectivity issues can be resolved with a simple fix then I do not mind going back to the custom ROM. If there is no fix or it is too late to implement, I would very much like to get the phone back to the stock condition and test the connectivity issues. What are the appropriate next steps to remedy this situation?
You need a kernel change. Titanium kiss might work. There is also a stock kernel linked in one of these threads somewhere. Not sure, but I may have downloaded it
Thanks mrcorey for the insight on the kernel incompatibility.
I downloaded the RUU and found instructions to extract and flash the ROM and kernel to the phone. After upgrading it by running the RUU completely, I had a working phone again. Everything is back to stock as far as I can tell and USB connectivity is as it should be. Once connected to a PC and selecting the disk drive option on the stock HTC ROM both the internal memory and the microSD card are available in windows explorer. Why is the internal memory and card not accessible in windows when I had Sphongle installed on the phone? Is there a option that was not set right to get things to work properly?
Please be patient with me as I am a sexagenarian who is struggling at the moment.
I am running a rooted Nexus 7 2013 using marshmallow version 6.0, build MRA58K.
I want to upgrade my Android to the latest version 6.x.
There is a System Update available prompt, which I cannot use since I am rooted.
I have used Wugfresh in the past to root as well as update while rooting, but as I rarely use the app, I get confused whren I use it and I am trying to fine an easier way. I think I might have messed something up with TWRK and really don't understand it.
Please help me define some steps in doing this. I am going to list my plans.
The mini usb plug on the Nexus 7 is not very stable, so I want to try this without having to plug into my laptop.
I have Titanium Backup and I want to take my backup data and copy it over to my Windows 1 laptop via Filedrop. I will “unfreeze” my frozen apps before this backup.
I will delete the backup files from my Nexus 7, as my space is tight and there is no SD card for the unit.
Then I was thinking of unrooting my Nexus 7. Any recommended ways to do this easily and safely?
I then plan to then use the conventional Android System Update.
After the update, then to root my device. Any recommendations of ways that I can do this without being plugged into my laptop would be very helpful.
After it is rooted, I plan to restore the titanium backup files that I have copied to my laptop, using Filedrop.
Problem is that I have never done this with titanium backup and don’t know how exactly to restore everything.
After that, I should be done.
PLEASE comment on my steps and please make recommendations.
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise
Jon
Hey guys,
I really need help. I was about to update my brother op3 from 3.2.4 to 3.2.8. When I was done I wanted to continue to flash to 4.0 but when I use the advanced reboot to boot into recovery it suddenly said "factory reset"!!!! Everything is gone even from the storage! I cant even backup from the backup file from twrp because it is gone! Can anyone please help me out? There are software to recovery this but I have to pay for all of them and they are not cheap!
Thank you in advance!
After a factory reset, even paid recovery tools aren't able to fully restore your data to their original state. At best, you'll get back a majority of the individual files you had on your phone prior to the wipe. The more you use the phone after wiping it, the more the old data is overwritten. At this point, I would just make the best out of this unfortunate event and clean flash whatever OS you were trying to update to. At least the phone will be de-cluttered at this point. You may even notice that the phone feels a little faster afterwards, and may even improve your battery life slightly.
If you had something really important on your phone that wasn't backed up, data recovery tools may be able to restore it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Additionally, TWRP backups do not backup media files such as music, photos, personal documents, etc. Even if you were able to find a nandroid backup, you would only get back your OS, apps, and app data. Most of this can be restored by just downloading everything again.
In the future, I would recommend saving nandroid backups directly to a USB flash drive through USB OTG. Music and photos can also be backed up to the cloud through various free or paid services (Google Photos for example).

Chance to recover your files are verry slim. Use the TWRP provided by Bluspark, it's on his main thread, stock twrp seems to have many issues.
