Hi everyone, I am looking for some tips and pointers for this project . I am a beginner at Unity 3D, coding, and Hololens developing, but I have a cool idea and I am seeking some guidance. Involves Microsoft Speech API and voice recognition (speech to text).
I am looking to develop an AR application on microsoft hololens that is able to turn speech in a conversation into digital text for the user to see on the display.
- How can I actually make a hologram of a text box on hololens for this app that is able to appear on the hololens HUD containing digital text from an outside person's speech?
- if the hololens is even capable of picking up a person's voice from a conversational distance
- How to turn on the speech to text captioning system within the application's interface?
Thanks!

Has anyone heard or learned something about the new WM6.1?
Some people say that the the main changes are the following:
-Copy / Paste
- Domain Enroll in Settings (Enrolling in a domain will connect your device with company resources.)
- New home screen (pan left and right to check out missed calls, notifications like email, sms, etc.)
- Change Master Security Code
- Added text input settings
- Recent Programs when pressing Start menu
- Threaded SMS!
- When you compose an email, or SMS, and start typing the name of the contact in the "To:" field, the contact names finally pop up like Windows Mobile Professional!
- Internet Explorer now lets you define a homepage, and also zoom in and out using a nice and clean interface

as has been mentioned before, windows mobile 6.1 with the carosel thingy is smartphones, not for phones that use a stylus.
mattie's response should be in the wiki
I was going to say, you oculd do most of those things in WM5
hahaha
I just came to PPC from a long history of Palm devices with a Palm Treo 650 as my most recent one. I got used to a really fast and efficient although less aesthetic interface that allowed me to enter appointments and generally any data pretty fast. Applications like Agendus or Adarian Money allowed me almost zero-time operation when entering contact info, appointments or payments. I must say that I am disappointed with my Samsung i780, specifically the way it works with text fields.
On the Palm,
- starting to write in a text field or starting a sentence after a period and a pause would make the first letter capital
- on fields with numbers and time, i wouldnt have to push the FN key to enter numbers, that would be automatic depending on the field i am in
I am not sure if there is anything that can be done with the overall interface of PPC, it tends to be less clear and less straight-forward also thanks to colors and various effects compared to Palm. Any advice from those that made a similar switch? Any interface apps that could make information on PPC more clear and understandable?
Any advice appreciated.
This is exactly what I like to have:

Since there exists no standard control I have written one by myself but I didn't get DataBinding to work (even when using correct implementation of DependencyProperty)

Simple
I think for that screenshot on the MSDN page you give they did what I also did without thinking twice in my own apps: Place TextBlock controls immediately before the TextBox controls.
Indeed, I found the approach of some controls with built-in header text property annoying because they waste a line of space even if you don't need a text.
And where would you stop with your new header property because sometimes you need text in front of a text box, but sometimes below, or in front and in the back at the same time, etc. (Yes, that does not happen with trivial, 3 textbox screens, but drive up the number of features in your program and it will probably happen.)
Don't agree. A HeaderMode enum should do the trick. I don't want do reinvent the wheel each time I need a simple TextBox After a year implementing WP apps I still see advantages of a TextBoxWithHeader control.

Hi Everyone...
Basically wanna spit 'at' notifications to a cookoo or martian......
Wondering if there is a drop in binary that will send alerts to these devices or how hard the programming would be???
Basically, I need periodic triggering ( with the martian - a 6 character text message as well ), would be nice if the other features of the watch aren;t lost i.e. the generic app can handle camera control / audible mute etc....
I ran across a post on this site in some device leaf about good support on the cookoo for calendar alerts ( and disabling / customisation of other alerts )....... but I don't wan't my "common" calendar stuff triggering, just the "special" vibrations...
Does anyone have a cookoo or martian and can confirm there is a way "in app" to periodicly ( multiple - variable - preset ) make these things vibrate. Or has anyone came across someone hacking a binary that talk to these units.
In the stuff i've read.....the cookoo seems most app friendly
and
the martian may give me text notifications ( not sms - just a preset string...from a seperate calendar??? )
Cheers.
I searched and searched, and I still cannot find the proper command to schedule a meeting into my calendar.
According to the online manual of the moto360, it can:
Voi ce commands
Just say “Ok Google,” or touch anywhere on the watch screen
to speak to Google™. You’ll see a white screen with a red
icon.
Schedule a meeting, send a text, or take a note. Get answers to
questions, like “What’s my next appointment?”, “How do I
navigate home?”, or even the really important ones, like
“Where are nearby coffee places?”.
When you activate voice commands your watch shows a list of
suggested phrases, which you can also touch to activate.
Here are some of the types of commands you can use:
• “Call [name].”
• “Call [name’s] mobile.”
• “How do I get to the Museum of Modern Art?”
• “Show me the route to the London Science Museum.”
• “Navigate to the Grand Canyon.”
• “Biking directions to Golden Gate Park.”
• “Send a text to [name] saying I’ll see you in 30 minutes.”
•“Email [name] subject I’m coming to town soon.”
• “Settings” (to open the watch Settings menu).
• “Note to self, eat more apples.”
• “Remind me to take out the trash when I get home.”
• “Remember to go for a run at 7 am.”
So what is the command? I hope someone knows, as I hate setting reminder and not on my calendars.
thanks
