Every ROM I tried had issues, including the stock ROM.
Stock ROM - Lockscreen notifications not working (very annoying to unlock phone to change song in spotify) I tried everything to enable them but they just couldn't work. Also icons are horrible.
CM 13 - Wifi o data suddenly is lost, apps enter in "bugged state" and the stop working as soon as I open them (chrome, facebook, spotify) restarting solves the issue temporarily. I love CM but restarting the phone 2-3 times a day is really annoying.
MM Stock ROM - Flickering screen during first boot up, can't continue further.
Which ROM should I use? I really like this phone but can't find a proper Android to use with.
Thanks
have you found any? i am searching for a stable rom aswell. I am currently on stock rom but the notification problems areannoying as hell...
The unofficial CM13 released today by surdu_petru is pretty stable for me. Fixed all the bugs I was having. This is my daily phone and it is day and night with EMUI.

Hi,
I've read that now Xperia Overlay, the custom firmware by Achotjan, is ready for our Xperia Play.
According to what is reported on facebook, the latest working version is 2.1.3.
Did anyone try it? Is everything working?
Unfortunately it's a paid firmware, available only through their website
Quick review of Xperia Overlay
I've installed and updated Xperia Overlay on my Play.
In my opinion, it's not ready for daily use. There are random reboots and several bugs.
However, and that's strange, camera is working, and 720p video recording is available.
I will update the post as soon as I test the rom
Update: yesterday I tested the firmware, however today I switched back on stock GB, that still is the best for me.
About Xperia overlay, everything is working. It's not the same firmware of z2 obviously, since themes and stamina aren't working.
Speaking about bugs, I noticed that WiFi sometimes drops and light sensor doesn't work properly.
The major problems of the Rom are stability and performance. Everything is too slow. Unlocking the phone and switching between apps is frustrating. However it's still better than other Rom I tried.
Battery life is poor since to mitigate performance overclock is enabled by default to 1.6GHz. I had to decrease it to 1.4 since the phone use to reboot randomly every 2 mins. Btw reboot remains, like one per hour.
And that's all.
I hope to see this camera working in cm11 since it's the only thing that doesn't work.

To install you have to:
flash the kernel included via fastboot
reboot in cwm
wipe dalvik cache, cache
format data, system
install the zip
The latest complete fw is 2.1.1, then you can update it to 2.1.3 via ota through the preinstalled app.
I can't compare to cm12 since I don't tried it because I don't have an sd card fast enough
The CWM of the Kernel is not working for me. Seems like CWM is missing.
It works, i dont remember which is the right key.. Back or vol-down. Then you have wait a bit because it takes a while to load

Hi xda!
I'm writing this thread because in those days, after flashing the latest cm11 nightly, I found some HUGE problems and basically all of them are related to the dialer.
Dialer's Problems:
- when the call starts i'm unable to see the dialer screen, the phone seems to be locked but when i press the ac button nothing happens, so re-pressing it is the solution but instead of the dialer screen it pops out the lock screen, then if i want to come back to the dialer i have to swipe down the notification bar
- while calling i'm unable to shut down the call and also i can't use the speaker, the dialer and so on
I've made a little video, you can see it here-> on yt /watch?v=NbAmJefyRZ8
(inverted colors lel)
Really need some help, thanks in advance!
(the model is the n7100)
Have you tried a KK AOSP ROM? How about a stock-based KK ROM?

Nope, never tried an AOSP just because i didn't need to, let me explain everything.
So it started with me flashing the blisspop rom because I wanted to give back life to my phone, which was stock samsung KK with root. Everything was working really fine, a super smooth ROM (with lollipop woooaaaah) but i found a super huge bug(?) i really don't know what was going on, basically there were not a storage, so the camera, whatsapp media and so on were not working.
So i started googling for a solution, which doesn't exist at all.
And so here we go with cyano.
Please do not make me flash a samsung stock, i really hate their ROMs, they are super heavy with thousand of useless applications
Hello, i am having some issue with Custom Rom. I am compleletly newbie in those things but still i did root and install CM 13 with the help of reddit. Everything was perfect till i found my dialer is not working. Whenever i try to call someone "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped" pop up. Then i installed BLISS 6.2 ROM. Dialer issue was fixed but BATTERY backup was so POOR. In a standby mode i got 3 hours of battery and that's not it after using 3 to 4 hours system UI start lagging and getting unable to use. Thing is my friend DEVICE is ASUS ZE551ML 2GB is used the same method and same rom but his one is completely perfect and no issue at all. I don't what's wrong with mine. Would be pleasure if anyone can solve it.
When using the nightly cm rom, you may not expect it to be perfect, as bugs are fixed daily, and some of these fixes will kill something else. That is what happened April 9th with the dialer. The build of April 16th has fixed that problem, amongst other things, so try that one. (until we find something else to break...)

Hello
Thanks for feedback
First of all you shouldn't open a thread for a bug cm is fixes all bugs one by one and nightlies are not testing before releasing so u should wait for fixing
And For Bliss
Bliss and almost all other roms have poor battery but we are trying to fix that battery thing
If you are using latest bliss build u can except some weird issues because bliss had some bugs and now they gone but until new build(official one) don't except too much thing from bliss i am going to release an ALPHA build u can try that one after releasing and i don't have a ZE550 for testing

The problem is because of a bug between the upgraded android app and CM based ROMs.
Since the problem hasn't been solved on either part. people are experiencing this on many other devices that are running CM based ROMs. Use any other ROM and you should be fine.
I too faced this problem, when I had marshmallow. Then I switched to Android KitKat ( This one https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2627818 to be specific )and my phone is perfect now. Maybe galaxy grand cant handle ROMs above KitKat. I think any KitKat variant will be fine.

Aosp 6.0 Works fine, No bootloop like on other CM based ROMs, it's CM compatibility issue here is the link for others who want to stick to Marshmallow, this one is very stable for daily driver.
I think I have an answer. The culprit is your battery. Try a new battery and see if the problem exists. With the passage of time, the battery degrades and is no longer able to support demanding ROMs and thus the mobile shuts down.
So this is a problem it seems everyone encounters. If there is a fix posted here I've missed it. The colors become corrupted so often it's unusable IMO. I usually have to reboot. So I'm rebooting all the time. I really need to find a way to fix this or I have to go back to stock.
Maybe this is why Lineage 17 is stickied. I need to read that now. Thank you.
Edit: It is fixed in builds past 20210627
I have just flashed the latest build "lineage-18.1-20210829-nightly-channel-signed" and am still getting the same problem. Any ideas on how to fix please?
Well the problem continues and seems to have gotten worse.
After some months, I've updated to lineage-18.1-20210912. The problem is still there and seems worse, happening more often randomly. Only solution is as before switch from natural to saturated (vice versa) untill your frustrated.
As this is my mums phone, can't ask her to keep doing that. May have to return to stock which I dont really want.
Tbh, I'd be frustrated too.
I'm surprised theres no LOS 18.1 thread in rom section.
I'm also curious about the other roms based on 17.1/18.1, are they having the same problem?
It appears to be lineage at fault as whilst experimenting I have successfully flashed BlissRoms, ArrowOS and my favourite Resurrection Remix and all are fine. I have stuck with Resurrection Remix with no problems to date. I have not flashed it with GAPPS but can run a few things like outlook, dropbox and other by downloading apks from APKMirror.

Try this:
System - Buttons
( long-press all buttons, to see menu)
Back long press action-Kill foreground app
Home long press action-Kill foreground app
Recent long press action-Kill foreground app.
I did this 3 hrs ago, still working.
Good luck.
Update: Last night I reinstalled Majisk and Root Checker, and suddenly this morning, my screen was flickering, with psychedelic colors again
I instantly removed both, and da da, the colors were beautiful again???
Just saying.... we'll see what happens.
I no longer have Root, but the colors are beautiful.
Used to have this problem but haven't seen it in weeks. I'm guessing if you poke around in the settings you can find some fix

how about the performance in games with resurrection or do you recommend another rom?
Same thing here. I flashed 3 phones g7 Play that I did choose because they are in the list of supported phones in the Lineage OS list. All three have the same issue. Apparently, switching battery save mode on and off an then locking/unlocking the screen very reliably triggers the problem. But it will appear also spontaneously after a short while.
Tried a lot of different settings.all eventually failed.
I found a zip named LiveDisplay, that seems to help. Flashed mine through FKM, Franco Kernel Manager.
Exact name is "g7_power_livedisplay_fix.zip".

Please give me a download link. Search in the browser unfortunately did not return results. Found only for Moto G5S
I used Franco Kernel Manager to download the zip. If you are rooted, just install Franco Kernel Manager and look for "g7_power_livedisplay_fix.zip.
I recently installed Pixel Experience, but I am considering going back to Lineages now that 19 is available for Moto G7 Power.
Good luck.
I think Lineage OS 19 has corrected the Display issue, perhaps you should also just consider updating . Just a thought.
