An hard trouble that is driving me mad. - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my G3 since September 2015. Never had problems, never had complains on nothing. More than one month ago I changed battery cause was definitively dead. All was again okay BUT one night the telephone random rebooted and when done, WiFi button stucked on "Turning WiFi on" but not connecting. It affects Bluetooth too.
Of course I tried removing battery first, then hard reset, then rooting for trying a new ROM. None of them solved the WiFi problem, so I supposed that maybe the mudule broke for some reason and I accepted it looking for repair. So I keep Fulmics ROM for a while, until one day the phone started to consume random battery and the CPU overheating. Looking at battery stats, 70% of drain was caused by "Android OS". I tried to close some apps, turning to plane mode, clean cache/dalvik cache. Nothing. So I tried many stocks ROM and every of them got the same problem even with no application installed after flashing!
Then I downloaded CM 12.1 and... WOW. Wifi and Bluetooth were again operating. Can you feel my happiness?
I downloaded all my apps, restored my backups, was finally a new life for my f***ing phone. But...
... No. Because just after locking the screen once, the phone went to a strange "freeze" that only battery removal was able to unlock.
Since then, every custom ROM I tried doesn't even boot after flashing and every stock ROM random overheat the phone or stucks in boot loop after flashing. Even after TOT flash, all the problems told in this post did not solved.
What the hell can I do for return to use my phone without crying every day?
I swear I will "offer" a beer to the one will solve even the half of these troubles. Thanks all.

Was ur previous battery kinda swollen cuz if it was somehow it could had damage the internals of ur device from swelling ...also the new battery is it geniune n stock ??

[Help]My Desire won't stop rebooting :\

I was using MIUI 1.3.25 ROM with no problems for weeks or even months..
One time when I was at work I've noticed that my battery is rapidly decreasing, I mean like from 70% to 30-40% in 2hours - when the device was at stand-by with WIFI open.
After a while, no battery left.
When I got home- I recharged my phone till 100%, but then- when I started it up, it was loading and after few seconds in after the ROM has done loading, my phone did a restart.
I tried to switch battery, did a full wipe and flashed another ROM but still, nothing helped!
I still can't use my phone, I can only have access to the recovery (AMON RA).
BTW: I didn't do anything that could cause this problem (didn't flashed any new room lately, or did something to the settings).
I'm really desperate and I'm willing for your help!
you need to return to stock remove any rot etc and return to shop for warranty repair, its a common problem in the first batch of desires
But how can I unroot my device?
I can't keep my device working, isn't that a problem?
yes, I totally bricked mine trying to do this, luckly I had warranty, took it to the shop and told them that it kept heating up and rebooting then one day it got really hot and turn off and wont turn back on.
So what am I suppose to do?
I have a warranty, the only problem is that I have to unroot my device and get it back to the stock ROM so they won;t notice I've rooted it (in that case- no warranty).
Any suggestions guys?
I'm using my Nokia E52 now, that's a shame for my Desire

[Q] Random rebooting, kernel panic - got my one x

Hello Guys,
so i got my new one x yesterday and im not very happy with it.
1. It does some random reboots, just lying around and reboots sometimes.
2. Phone "hangs up" with black screen and blinking buttons. As far as i know this is a "kernel panic"
This happened about 5 times now, last time as im writing this.
3. Battery drain is huge, seems like a result of the above problems. Android OS has about 90% battery usage and it dropped to 82% after 54mins without charging and just lying around.
On the both screens you can hopefully notice it, 26mins and it lost 10% battery.
After this kernel panic the battery drain changed and the Android OS stopped to drain so much battery.
This is the "out of the box" state of my phone. I changed nothing beside from charging the battery and installed some apps (normal stuff, angry birds and such).
Does someone have a idea about this? I hope or assume these a software related problems. But im not sure with the kernel panic thing can this be due to hardware issues? Should i ask for a replace?
You said you installed a few apps and games. Try going back to factory settings first, wait a while and see if the pattern repeats, if the phone behaves normally, then it must be something you installed, not all apps are optimised for ICS.
Good luck!

check your kernel version pls
Ok thanks for your first impressions and help. Im trying the factory reset now.
I have done a screenshot of the kernel version.
First of all, and probably most important is to leave your phone charging for 6-8 hours without turning it on.
Then its spend the battery time where you do whatever it takes to.empty the battery completely until the phone is ready to shut down. Shut it down. Repeat charge process from above with device off. Turn it on and then you can be ready to test it for real. As far as reboots, you really should let the system settle down a bit. Give it a day or 2 without some extra heavy usage and I'm sure it will be just fine.

i hope this isnt a joke
joke or not, normal stuff apps can cause problems. the whole Android OS battery usage is because of apps you installed. it's a brand new phone and i wouldn't be too worried about it. i switched from Samsung to HTC because Samsung releases broken source code and doesn't seem like they really know how to do anything but stick hardware together. if i'm not happy with HTC, then maybe Motorola is making the next Nexus phone and i'll give that a try.
Please do keep us updated on how's everything working out ? Did the factory reset solved the issue? Hope this ain't an April fool joke ! Anyways hope everything goes well for you mate. Kept my fingers crossed on mine one x
So ok, i tried the factory reset twice. Seems Not to work atm. Im going to try it again. I hope Arhd and s-off is working soon
Im curios, maybe there are more ppl with this Problem after monday / tomorrow.
Ill keep you up2date.

Return it.
There's no way a factory-reset device should be behaving that way. My guess would be hardware problems.
First wave of a new phone is always more risky, you can get a faulty device

Agreed, it sounds screwed to me.
I can't speak for the rest of the world - but I don't really know why people panic. If the phone ends up being unstable it's going back and they'll be refunding my contract - it's really that simple.
There was a similar problem on the original Desires. Linked to overheating especially with GPS.

I'm not going to say your wrong but could you post some evidence? Ok the first part is per the user manual so I will agree with that one. However there should be no need to empty and re-charge the battery should there? According to this site: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_charge_when_to_charge_table Deep discharge wears the battery down. It also says no priming is needed.
Then the second point letting the system settle down? what? let what "settle down"? I don't even understand this statement. If you explain what you mean and again if you can provide some evidence that would be great. Thanks.
same problem
I experience the exact same problem. Random reboots and crashes.
What did you end up doing?
same problem too
Me too.
Get the phone for 2 days, and randoms reboots.
Get the same kernel that Dreist.
Try yesterday a factory reset, but no change.
I have the same problem. Constant reboots out of the blue. I'm back on my nexus which is super reliable. Probably gonna return it.
Got 3 reboots in a row yesterday but it was after flashing bricked kernel and battery under 23%, plugged the AC cable and no more reboots, perhaps the battery level is false with bricked kernel...
Just swapped mine out for a new one but now the new one has a yellowish screen. (sigh)

[Q] LG G3 Turning Off Problem

I have randomly started experiencing a problem where my device would turn off randomly which has gradually gotten worse to the point where it's stuck in a boot loop sort thing and will shut off randomly during boot then restart.
The problem started by every now and then (sometimes not happening for a day at a time) the phone would turn off then turn back on again gradually getting worse. The problem started when I installed the latest update during the update the screen froze (no it was not interrupted in anyway and done officially through the phone) so after leaving it overnight and it not progressing I took the chance and removed the battery. it then turned on and finished the update without an issue. The phone has since as I explained got into a 'boot loop' sort scenario where it will work if the charger is plugged in but couldn't be a battery issue as doesn't turn off if I put it into download mode. Things I've tried: Doing a complete reset- Still no fix. and now today I entered download mode and re-installed the firmware which was successful but still no prevail?! What the hell could this be?! Thanks

Maybe it's a hardware issue
hi, where did you get the firmware? it could be corrupted. if I were you I would download again the firmware and reflash it.
after that I'll do a hard reset.

Well i guess im not alone as i have the same exact problem as you do! WHich version do you have? I have the White T-Mobile version and i bought it the same week it was on sale i felt that i got a phone that was part of a bad batch because of some problems ive had with it but i didnt buy insurance for it. i was on LG's OS and it started to get worse and worse so i restored it and went to a lollipop rom. its still happening but it only reboots once. however, as soon as i start using apps it reboots on me. i want to unroot it but at the same time i dont want to go through the trouble of rooting it again. Any ideas of what it could be?
My problem just randomly started happening and i noticed this started happening strangely after my phone completely died on me and didnt want to turn on so i connected it to the charger and it started charging but had a yellow warning triangle somewhere on the screen.

Hey, nice to hear someone has the same issue, I however hvent had the yellow warning triangle come up yet, as an update all of a sudden it keeps turning off as soon as it boots even on charge!!!??? It just keeps getting gradually worse?! However I have noticed the battery % it shows when turned off is 100% and very randomly it displays 70% then when the phone boots it will show 2% for the 2 seconds it stays on before it dies?!

Wait now it reboots on you even if its charging? I too started noticing that with my battery . if I turn it off and charge it it and lets say it says its at 75% well I turn it on and its like at 40%? I really don't want to buy another battery but I actually hope the battery is the culprit. There's a guy with a G3 in my school I'm going to see if he let's me try his battery out on my phone I'll keep you posted

Hey sorry for taking so damn long on replying i've been busy studying for some exams.
I've got good news for you though, i took my phone in to T-Mobile and showed them my problem. Without me putting much effort into persuading them, they shipped me a new phone, and no i didn't pay for insurance on T-Mobile, this was covered by LG's 1 year Manufacturers warranty!
Anyways, I received the device but did not receive a battery. So i tried my battery on the new one and what do you know? SAME PROBLEM!
So yea you should either try to unroot the phone and take it to the store but don't mention that you think its the battery, they'll send you a new phone! Then just buy a battery online or call them after a few days and say your problem is still occurring with the new phone and see if they send you a replacement battery, im a little skeptical on this second option as id rather keep this new phone haha

Hi, even i am having this problem, my phone is a D855 and in my country (Mozambique) i am not using a contract so its different than US, we have a LG store here but in the LG website our country is not stated. So only way is to go to a trusted Store that repairs phone here. My question is that, when its not connected in the charger it just keeps reboting (the notification LED doesnt even blink) infinite times. At first i thought it was a software but after going from Stock to Cloudy to CandyRom the problem was still there. Then after i plugged in a charger the phone would succesfully boot up and i could use it normally but had to stay connected on a charger. So what have you done to fix this? Did you replace the battery with a new one and then it stopped rebooting?? Please help me as i want to buy a new battery but first want to confirm if its the battery at fault....

Hello buddy, sorry for taking so long to reply. Im usually not on XDA too much. Yes i solved my issue with a new battery. I tried my bad battery on 2 lg g3s and it rebooted both. I also unrooted my phone and flashed a completely stock update and was still having that issue.

Im having the same problem gotba new battery and no different so annoying
Best thing just happened. I had the G3 for a while and my first one had an issue and had to get a warranty replacement. Long story short... I got two more G3s from T-Mobile that were defective and most carries have a policy where if you get 3 warranty replacements you can chose a different phone. To wrap it up, you can ask for a phone of equal or lesser value when purchased from the carrier (I bought mine off eBay and they didn't even notice, I spoke to several reps and no one caught on.) So they can either send you a whole new phone, a new battery, or in my case: I received a new LG G4 since I had gone through three which pretty much anyone can do with a bad battery.
Guys. Im having this same exact problem on my LGG3!!!
Expired Battery or Faulty Power Button could be the culprit
This issue just started happening to my LG G3 over the last 2 weeks. I've had my LG G3 for exactly 15 months and all of a sudden it started cycling endlessly and if it did get to my locked screen and i tried to unlock it it would just restart again.
I found that when I plugged in the device to a wall charger or high power power brick, it would halt the reboots but otherwise it would get stuck in an endless cycle of partial reboots (when it did stop after plugging in, I would find all my apps still open and waiting for me, so they weren't real power cycles).
One of my coworkers has a newer LG G3, so we swapped batteries and immediately he had the cycling issue on his phone and with his battery in my phone the issue vanished.
On closer inspection, my battery was a few months past its expiration (FYI to anyone with a LG G3 - your battery will expire more or less exactly as its warranty protection does!), so went and bought a new battery and everything is fine now.
For those of you who have tried replacing the battery and find it still occurs, another coworker said his wife had a similar issue on a different device and it was resolved by having the power button replaced, so it is possible that this could be a factor also and you should have your phone sent in for inspection/repair.
Hope this is helpful for some of you.

I've had the same issue since February, when my phone was about 17 months old. It kept turning off saying SIM card not detected. I tried replacing the SIM card and washing that area with alcohol with no luck. Then I replaced the battery with a second one that came with the phone which I'd never used, but I noticed no difference. It also has no phone service for several hours without my knowledge. LG just told me to reset the phone, but it looks like that doesn't work from what I've read. T-Mobile said they'd give me a new phone but there are no G3s in stock and offered me a Samsung 3, which is three years old, so I am worried that it won't be able to handle the software updates. It's ridiculous that a phone that costs this much won't even last long enough for me to pay it off. My last phone was an Iphone, which I had for more than four years.
I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago, posted a detailed explanation of the problem and got 0 replies and a few hundred views (thanks guys!)
Easy answer:
Replace your battery
Thats what I did, and the problem is now gone. When you do get a new battery make sure you drain it completely first, then charge it for 4 hours without exceptions.
I tried factory resetting, installing a new firmware, going to stock and going to custom but nothing worked.
The girl in the shop where i bought the battery surprised me, i just asked her if they had one available and her immediate reply way "why, is your g3 stuck in a boot loop?", apparently EVERY SINGLE PERSON that bought a g3 battery from them had the exact same issue.
Now the problem is gone, and my phone actually lasts longer than before.

Hey, I am having the EXACT same issue. LG G3 was stuck in an endless loop, replaced the battery, now it works down to about 30% and shuts off. When I try to restart it says 0%. I even tried a third different battery, and still getting that 30% shutdown. Did you ever figure out what it was? I am wondering is it something to do with how the phone reads the battery charge i.e. does it think the battery is dead when it gets to 30%? It has e stumped!! Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.
wtf, actually same with my LG G3,after when I bought a new battery. Shutsdown at 30% and it says has 0%.

[Help] Battery has died?

Hello guys
I have a problem, device and maybe a ? problem
Well, my battery has been acting a little weird lately but, I ignored it
But tonight I decided to try again the Fulmics 5.1 and his friends (heheh), suddenly after completing the process, I experienced a bunch of Reboots, then I found out that, my phone can't stay alive alone without a charger connected
It doesn't even boot without a charger...
Now I'm back to Fulmics 4.1 and... Still the same
I have read some reports here that warned me about this "issue"
So, guys, maybe it's the battery?

What bothers me is the fact that it was working normally before I tried that New Fulmics thingie..
I even had close to "full" battery strength (lasting a lot)
And now I can't even try one of the official firmware procedures, because the phone can die on the USB!!
Here in this damned country that I live (and that I hate so much!!) It's very hard to find "original" batteries...

yeah the battery won't give you any signs it's dying, it just dies lol. I got the deal that I got a free charging cradle and extra battery so I've always had backups. Why don't you get them from eBay? I've bought like 4 from eBay. I rotate all my batteries so I always have them charging ready to go

HTC 10 problems

Hello everyone!
So I kinda love my HTC 10 and I really want to keep it working.
I have my HTC 10 and some time ago I actualy started to have problems with my battery. For example phone died on 50% and then said it has 1% when restarted, restarting when cold (this mostly happened when the power saving mode was off). Also when i had like 35% and used my camera, there has been like blinking stripes over the picture and sometimes the phone turnt off instantly. Also when I am using some application, sometimes when i switch to another one, the phone freezes for a second and the screen locks and i have to use screen code (Cant use print like after restarting the phone completly). Also I used the App called AccuBattery and the app always said after a lot of recharges that the capacity of the battery is like 52%.
So i visited one of the repair places here in my city and they said its the battery problem so they actualy changed it for a new one. Unfortunately the same is happening and the battery app still shows like 52% capacity.
Anyone got ideas what should I do?
Also before i had the stock rom and now i tried to install the LeeDroid ROM to see if it helps.

I would run an RUU.
this will reset your battery stats, although flashing leedroid should have done this, but an ruu is the best method (then flash leedroid after)
what is your location and how much were you charged for the battery replacement?
I can't find any local shops here that will touch it.

I'd pay that in a heartbeat if local in the US would work on it.
and RUU is ROM Update Utility
restore the stock ROM and firmware.
then u can reflash twrp and leedroid
backup your internal as it will remove it

So you think, that it actualy can be only a battery problem? Bad configuration or something? And how do I actualy do that Ruu ?

Seems so. If was at 52% and battery was replaced, , accubattery should update accordingly to new battery capacity.
Mine is from release day and at 70%
Does the reboot at 30% and reboots to 1% sometimes too.
RUU, many guides,
https://www.google.com/search?q=xda...ndroid-google&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Do the research first, it's all available.
Enjoy that new battery!
P.s. Are u not getting better battery, or just going by accubattery? On same rom u need to clear accubattery cache so it can read values from new battery
Perhaps an RUU isn't needed..
What're you trying to accomplish exactly?
I could of read things wrong

Sadly i don't think this is a software issue, experienced with htc m8, galaxy s6 edge and now with htc 10. I also wiped everything, flashed everything, and nothing helps, it is definitely a bad battery problem. And here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also in Croatia, no one will open it to replace the battery, can't belive this is happening in the US too
Once i tried to do it by myself with the htc m8 and ended with replacing baterry, than, display, than volume buttons and at the end, gps never worked again:cyclops: so, never again.
Next phone priorities: big battery, easy to open

I'm not saying it's software.
I could be misunderstanding his post.
I thought I read hid battery was replaced.
If so accubattery shouldn't still say 53%
But a I would personally do an RUU if my battery was replaced, but that's me.
A shop or 2 *may* do it but it'd be cheaper to find a new in the box htc 10 sadly.
I don't trust myself to open this phone.
My m8 battery is in great shape. I think nearly 95% capacity of the 2800mah, I'm at around 70% of htc 10.
I don't do charging over 85% hardly ever.
Wish I got a refurb from Verizon before warranty expired

I replaced battery on my htc m8, and it was the battery from the m9 it fits in m8, and acubattery showed 108% after one reboot and a few charging cyclus, so i didn't need to RUU it. Maybe htc 10 will update it's battery capacity, but i think they didn't replaced with new battery, maybe it was used and they didn't know that it is that bad...
I hope you understand me, English is not my mother language but i try my best

Nice, my m9 sat in a drawer lol. Loved m8 too much,
But I was responding to OP, so I'm all around confused now lol.
RUU may be too far that's just me.
But I'd at least clear accubattery data and cache so it's fresh and can read new battery.
Otherwise you have data from old and new battery.

Interesting that I'm dealing with this same problem, too. I'm running MaximusHD 2.7.0 (yes, it's that old!) and I'm wondering if, because of the restores from TWRP backups, that the battery stats are borked.
Any suggestions on what to do here? I'd really rather not flash an RUU. Would you say it's possible to reinstall MaxHD without wiping data to see if that helps?
Thanks in advance!

I took it back to the service place and they said the problem should be the battery. They kept it for tests. I will let you know.
HTC in bootloop
Hello Everyone,
My HTC 10 started to have boot loop when its 50% battery. I didn't care about it in the beginning.
After a while, it's only in the boot loop not turning at all. I tried recovery mode and everything when tried
that it's just boot looping nothing else. Is there any way that I can erase and install the stock HTC 10 file system using
PC or any other way that I can save this phone??
Thanks in advance
I have the exact same problem as the op. Have you guys found any solutions?
edit: I THINK clean flashing oreo firmware then latest RUU then twrp then lineage fixed my issue, charging to full rn will drain it over the next day and report back if its gone for good
