Blocking youtube adds? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Comming from my dev editiin note 4i was rooted and able to block youtube adds. I cant do it with my note 7 and its driving me nuts. Anyway to do it without being rooted?

Just pay the 10 bucks a month or whatever it is for YouTube Red and it also includes unlimited music streaming on Play Music. Done. Forget about it. It's a ridiculous value. I stream music all day long and don't deal with ads on YouTube on any of my devices or on the pc. I pay 15 a month for 6 linked accounts to get all access. Worth every penny.

[Q] Football season is here

I will be away from my television quite a bit this season, and want to know how I can watch some football on the evo. Minus the obvious slingbox, how do you stream live tv to your phone?
Capture card on desktop, VLC as a streaming server. LogMeIn Ignition for controls. Ta-da.
Slingbox. You can control your cable box and watch anything from anywhere. Its what I use when I'm on the road. I highly recommend it.

He was trying to avoid slingbox. The other suggestion looks good to me.
Try justin.tv.

I would love to use slingbox, but thats like a 200+ dollar investment on a phone I already paid a crap-load for.
NFL Sunday Package To-Go.
Goto Directv website and search for it. Nothing else comes close

Yeah but the slingbox will last you years and years without any additional cost. It's a one time fee. You can also watch on your laptop if you have one.
Just set up a slingbox pro hd and couldn't be happier.

Definitely couldnt talk the wife into letting me get the pro since its what 300 dollars. Also, dont really see a need for the HD one since it will mostly be watched on my phone.
I actually found the solo version on Newegg for 156, so I might be picking that up.
Orb is your friend....tv tuner card and access to your mp3 and video collection from one mobile interface. There is an ORB android app but there is no need for it, the web browser works great. Orb has built a nice interface that will scale to multiple mobile codecs. I have been using it for awhile...first had it running for my old nextel blueberry...
yeah but w/out the nfl sunday ticket you can watch 1 or 2 games. with nfl sunday ticket 2-go you can watch any game.
http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nfl_online_mobile
Tuner card in your PC is the least expensive. I typically use that with Orb but I haven't tried it on the Evo yet. Basically the Slingbox is doing the same thing for more money. It's a capture card and media web streaming device. Basically you can spend $100 on the capture card or $200 on the Sling. It's up to you depending on budget and whether you feel like setting it all up.
you can easily get a slingbox on craigslist used for very cheap, $50 or less easily and its far and away better than any other option suggested unless you get the sunday ticket package.

Spotify for EVO?

Does anyone have the spotify service for their evo 4g?
im planning on paying the 10$ a month for the premium service but i want to know if it is worth it.
anyone care to elaborate on their experience?
Anyone have spotify for their evo?
I tried it for a day. The service works, but didn't have the music I liked. I was able to get a refund because they also didn't include the Radio feature that was advertised very early on launch day.
Be sure they offer the music you want before paying.
I use the free service and it works well for me.
I've had it for about 1.5 years(vpn service and paypal acct setup as uk). I like the service. I find that they have stuff that rhapsody does not.
I have premium and it works over 3g but not 4g. Even when I tether my eee transformer, it stays offline when 4g is on.
I just got it. I personally love it (for now). You must have the premium subscription for the mobile app
ya im trying to pay for the premium service is it actually worth it
Love the app. Totally worth the $10/month if you listen to a lot of music on your phone.
I like it. The downsides are: you're renting music. Occasionally there are play back issues. Spotify doesn't have an intuitive way to find new music save a simple search. With millions and millions of songs on there, it would be awesome to have something like 'find similar artist'. The desktop client may have this, but I've been using it 99% mobile so I wouldn't really know.
Other then that, its the bee's knees

How's the data usage with Google Music app? (Since GN has 16GB/no support for ext SD)

Hi,
I'm on the fence of buying a Nexus Galaxy and been researching here and there. This one thing I haven't had experience with before and could not find clear answers searching here and there.
What kind of data usage should I expect If got the GN and used Google Music to save my collection on the cloud and play it over 3g/4g data? I have the 2GB/Mo plan from AT&T.
Well, I listen to a lot of musical genres and have a large collection of MP3s (not MPfree's!).
I never tried the Google Music service since I have a 16GB Atrix 4G with 32GB SD card on to carry "some" of my collection with me always.
*I read a lot posts online by people who are hesitating to buy the GN because of the limitation to 16GB only. I know cloud services are being pushed harder and I'm surprised myself that after I thought of everything and the google music solution to my music collection, 16GB can do! But network data has costs around it, y'know.
I think it's would a nice advertisement/complimentary if Verizon (or other carriers later) would give their GN customers a special offer/discount on data plans considering the nature of the device.
Ah, don't forget my question mates. Your opinion/experience with data usage and Google Music.
Thank you
I don't use Google Music for streaming. Whatever I have is on my phone (not much though). But I can tell you this, if you have a lot of music stored on Google Music (online) then expect to see some high data usage. I have not used any music that is stored by Google (when you select some random genres of music at the time of setting up your account) but my data usage on Google Music player still shows 211 mb used ... I guess that's for syncing or caching all the music on my phone. So atleast initially you will see high data usage and not so much afterwards. My 2 cents ... I hope somebody with more experience would give us real information.

I wouldnt recommend streaming unless you still have an unlimited data plan. Period. Streaming music adds up quick.

I use it quite a bit, but I have an unlimited plan. That said, I have never gone over 2GB on my bill. Mostly because I use wifi when I can.
Based on my experience, listening to an album can use anywhere between 30-60mb depending on quality and length.
Google music also caches the album you listen to. Which is nice when you listen to it again it won't be streaming.

ok, so i dont own the nexus yet, still 1.5 days from possession. but i use google music extensively on my captivate. i have a 16gb phone with 16 gb sdcard, but i kinda like to segregate my music, so i have some on my phone, some on amazon and some on google. i listen to google everyday while commuting to work for 1-1.5hrs, with highest quality option turned on, and everyday my usage is around 50-60mb.i go to work 21-22 days, so its more or less 1gb for google music. i am also on att 2gb plan, before google music i used ~1.1gb per month(used pandora a lot), right now i use 1.6gb.
So yeah, be it pandora, amazon, slacker, or google i use 800-1gb on music every month.
Well, I think we can calculate it.
In the worst case you'd have a 320kbps MP3. When you convert from bits to bytes (by dividing by 8) you get 40kBps.
That means that every minute of music you'll listen to will take use 2.4MB (2400kBps = 40kBps x 60 seconds).
On your 2GB plan, that lets you listen to about 833 minutes of music (or 13 hours straight, or 160 five-minute songs).
That's the worst case which I think you'd only run into if a) you turn on the option in the Music app that forces high quality and b) the song you've stored on Google music is 320kbps.
I hope that logic works out.
Another thing to think about, if you put 6-8GBs of you fav music on the phone, you'd still have lots of space on the phone and significantly reduce the data usage.
BTW....I'm facing the same struggle in my decision on the GN....but I think I may have just help myself decide. LOL
I say blow it all! its juz 10$ per GB!

easy for you to say in the great white north is $80+ for only 2GB....
I don't think you will use up all 16GB storage other than musics. And how large are your total music collections? Why don't you open wifi and cache all or most favorite music down on GN so you won't be stream when you listen to them. And if you really run out of space, google music will free up some for you without any problem.

[Q] Data limiting?

Seems Im at 1.5gb of my 2gb cap already and I just paid my bill on the 16th. NO idea how I used THAT much data in such a short amount of time but w/e. I need a way to limit data use but not hinder text messages and such. I use wifi everywhere except to and from work.

Here's how to bypass that. Buy a Blackberry, activate it on your account (this will switch your data type in T-Mobile's system and effectively re-zero it), then after 24 hours, change back to your Android, and bang, you're back at a fresh start. Don't forget to return the Blackberry. You can do it sooner than 24 hours, just need to change out the phone in their system. I wait 24 hours so as not to raise suspicion.
Works.

also, weren't they giving us google credit or something?
I pay for Google music so I already get YouTube red and music for free but YouTube music isn't really useful, especially since a lot of music I listen to is customized and re-done by secondary artists and often times are not classified as music and, thus, are not on YouTube music.

I've been a GPM subscriber since day 1 and get YTM included now. But of course, I don't use it because GPM is still the superior music streaming service and cloud storage locker. So, can I just get 6 months of free GPM service instead of paying like I already do?
I was shown that during the order process. However, I've had YouTube music for a while, sooo, I guess I miss out... Total BS. Just like I met all the qualifications for the $50 promo, but didn't get it. You're welcome for pre-ordering Google! Jerks
i hit up pixel support today and they made me sign up for the 1 free month trial and then manually extended it for 7 months as a courtesy
