AOKP-ANDROID OPEN KANG PROJECT
What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKP ?
We were waiting for when you'd ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they're "baked in" by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone's settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?

No I haven't, but the current sources break Camera and I don't want to release broken stuff. I'll update both CM and AOKP as soon as it is possible.

I have more success flash when I put zip file into microsd, I do not know why but it works
I fixed the DPI issue. It is now 480DPI by default.
Uploaded to devhost while goo.im is still down.
The name is 28.05 to keep compatibility with OTA updates.

There is an app for so called "STAMIMA" mode, to be honest, it's been out there for some time now, even b4 sony released their stamima. It's called Idle Time conenction manager, and it works even better. At least I got better battery results with it. Look it up on google Play here:

Kevin, i'm on 02-18 build right now. Do i need to wipe dalvik-cache before updating and flash the Gapps again?
Great work btw. Have been using it for 5 days and never had any problem. Everything works good, no FC from any apps at all. Well, except the zooming camera issue which happens in all ROMs i've used. Not a big deal though as i don't use camera much. Thanks man!
Yes, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then flash ROM and everything should be fine.

@HorstiG: Correct. AOKP was an independent developer-family and not entirely based on CM. They are at CM-sources for a long time now - officially announced. Nowadays we "only" (note the quotation marks - at least we have CM!) have CM. I know it's offtopic, but are there any independent projects left? Dirty Unicorn? Carbon? All dead? For Paranoid, their main devs went to OnePlus and so I guess, dead too.
where can I post feature requests?

Yes, unfortunately, the good Android times are over.
CM is Shi.Good for old mobile phones, but not for modern high-tech devices with excellent cameras and other gadgets.
