I really like the stock keyboard on the note 7, but a couple of things annoy me enough to go back to swiftkey, the long press delay is way too long, and when you use the url field in the stock browser to search, which I do a lot, it doesn't auto space, is theree a way to change these things or should I just change the way I use it? Thanks.

Devs/XDA buddies,
I have tried looking with no success(Forgive me if I have overlooked). I am looking for a custom keyboard (like GB's) with swipe but with the English/Spanish button removed and the swipe tutorial removed. With these two buttons removed it would make an awesome space bar. It seems like I am all the time hitting the period or comma in error. I have tried some other keyboards from the market and they are a little odd for me.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

not really sure but i use better keyboard when i do use my screen as a keyboard bought it a while ago but dont know if it has swipe functions like swype does. have you tried to look in the settings menu to remove these languages? i dont use swype nor do i really like the default layout but i am sure there is a fix for your discomfort. there are other keyboards in the market that offer some sort of swype-like functions!

Thanks for your help.. I have went through all the settings.. There is a setting that even ask you what you want for your primary language.. If you chose that option it still has the button enabled. Usually to get to the keyboard settings you can long press the English/Spanish button to get to your lang settings..same with the tutorial button. There is a setting to disable it but it still works. hehe.. But yeah i am still in search for a decent keyboard even if i have to sacrifice swype..
gb keyboard is nice although i dont know if it has a swipe function but yeah, np, check out the market and have fun experimenting! If you're like me i just download all that i think might be the one and definitely delete the ones that prove no purpose or have memory leak bugs or any bugs i prefer not to work around!
Go keyboard has swype and a nice sized spacebar. That might suit your needs.

Thanks for your advise.. Been trying to use the Go keyboard for a couple days. The interface is lovely. Tried using the swype and its terrible. I am still looking though for a nice new keyboard..
I cannot figure out how to turn on auto complete for the Samsung Keyboard. I have looked through the options and I dont see a setting for it.
I like the keyboard because it has the number keys along the top and the one handed mode is nice.
Are there any other keyboards that will display the numbers at the top? I cannot find a way to do it with SwiftKey, Swipe, or the stock JB keyboard. I realize the one handed mode would be more difficult to find in a 3rd party keyboard and is not as important.

Predictive text is on
Continous input is checked but is option is greyed out so it cannot be changed. The continous input does not seem to work... It is supposed to be like swipe, right?
What about auto correct? words dont correct themselves for me, i downloaded the stock jb keyboard from the market and that auto corrects words but it looks huge on the note 2
Yeah, when I said Auto Complete, I guess i meant Auto Correct. I get word suggestions at the top of the keyboard but I have to click them to get them to be used. They don't just automatically get inserted when I hit the space bar and it wont automatically correct stuff like "thats" to "that's"
I looked through the internation GN2 forumns and found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937440
looks like its just missing as a feature. Call it a bug whatever, sux...
Any suggestions for keyboards that allow you to have the number buttons along the top as well as having auto complete/correct?

mine didn't do this with the galaxy s3 either... predictive text sucks I don't want to have to press the word I want every time. Swift keyboard was awesome on the s3 but like you I want to keep the numbers at the top
Yes this has really bothered me! I can't believe it won't auto correct...I went back to swiftkey 3 but had to come back to the default samsung keyboard because having those numbers at the top is just too good to let go...I hope this gets fixed in an update :/
Hi everyone!
I've recently bought my beloved Note II in places of an iPhone 4 and I have only two things bugging me.
As you've may already guessed, I seriously need autocorrect.
My experience with other Android devices (namely Motorola Xoom) was perfect minus the astonishingly good performance.
I was able to write quickly knowing that the original Android keyboard will correct every thing for me... but now I can't.
So, is there a way to enable autocorrect on Samsung's TouchWiz keyboard (don't want to lose S Pen functionality)?
Secondly, I only need 5 of the loads of widgets on the notification drawer.
Is there anyway I can modify them to the number and order I want?
Is there any ROM that can fix those problems without losing S Pen apps?
Thank you in advance!
1- No way to enable auto correct in stock samsung keyboard as far as I know. I recommend downloading swiftkey from the android market. It has (in my opinion and many others) the best auto correction/prediction of any keyboard in the world. Granted, it is a paid app but there is a free 30-day trial.
2- You can't modify the notification toggles with stock rom. With certain custom roms, yes.
Just a little info.. the notification thingies that allow enable/disable of wifi/bluetooth etc are called toggles. Widgets are the ones you can put on the home screen.
The problem with having a 3rd party keyboard is when you want to use the S-pen you have to select the samsung keyboard. Try using the continous input option of samsung keyboard, you can swipe which does auto correct / predict.
So I'd like to use apex launcher instead of the stock TW jedi launcher. I tried, and I end up having spen difficulties. When pulling it out, I don't get a shortcut pop up like I'm used to. Any way to fix that?
Also, I hate the keyboard. I'm so used to SwiftKey that I don't want to switch over, but I really do make use of the handwriting recognition.
Halp!

The stock keyboard *is* Swiftkey. Turn on "Predictive text" in the keyboard settings, and then click on the words "Predictive text" to get to the Swiftkey learning screen (learn from Gmail, FB, Twitter - it always learns from SMS). Kinda hard to find, but the stock keyboard works as Swiftkey for word prediction afterwards.
Also, if you use handwriting recognition a lot, from the keyboard setings, press on the word to "Handwriting" and try changing the "Recognition type" setting from the default "Stroke recognition" to "Complete recognition." You may find the "Complete" recognition much easier to use; I did.
The problem is, the stock keyboard isn't autocorrecting words. It'll provide suggestions of correct words, but it won't do anything if I'm off by even one letter. I can't seem to find a setting for this either. That's really the only thing preventing me from using it.
Ah, true, sorry. I can't find it either. I always had that option disabled in SwiftKey so I didn't notice that the option was missing.
I'm pretty quick to type so I always get typos lol. I don't even know why Samsung would even implement a keyboard without auto correction...

I assume your refering to Page Buddy. It a feature of TW and won't come up if your running another launcher.
You can go into settings>S Pen and click "Open Popup Note" it note will pop up when the S Pen is removed.
Hope that helps.
Yes I figured out the pagebuddy dilemma, guess I'll just add the widget if I really needed it.
As far as keyboards go, I still want to be able to use handwriting recognition, but that option isn't available in the standard SwiftKey as a toggle/button on the bottom like it is in the Samsung keyboard. I wish the Samsung keyboard would just have auto correction like all the others out there..

I'm in the same boat. I like SwiftKey, but it takes a lot of the functionality out of the S-pen. The stock keyboard isn't horrible, and the predictive type is actually pretty good, but it's not SwiftKey. The other negative is that SwiftKey predictions don't show up in notes, which ends up making it worse than stock.
What I would love is some kind of version of SwiftKey that allows for handwriting recognition.
I just wish I could make a space bar insert the correction on the stock keyboard. I like the number row, but am used to just pounding through typos.

I feel so antiquated. I still opt for t9 input over almost anything else.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

Haha, I can't even type with t9 anymore, I just tried lol.
I wish we could just get a keyboard with handwriting recognition...Samsung, what the hell were you thinking by not having simple autocorrect?
Hi All,
Just switched from S4 to the ONE. Everything is great except for one thing that I've noticed. I don't mind the stock keyboard, but I prefer Swype a lot better. I installed Swype and chose it as default keyboard, however, upon reboot, the keyboard switched back to the stock keyboard. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, how did you fix this issue and choose the default keyboard as there is no option under settings and Language and Keyboards
I also had this problem and it looks like Swype is aware of it and are looking for the fix...
In the mean time.. After the reboot, open any method of typing ( I use the txt message window to any recent contact ) and once the keyboard is displayed, pull down the bar from the top (that has the time stamp). You will see a Choose input method box. Click on it and Select the Swype - Swype + Dragon option and you are back up and running. Happy swyping.
I switched to the Google keyboard because this was annoying me about Swype. I think the Google keyboard is actually better at swiping in general... Except punctuation. I also use "*" often and it's buried on the Swype keyboard.

First select the keyboard of your choice, disable fast boot (settings, power) reboot, check that you still have the desired keyboard, enable fast boot. It should persist after that.
