App launch speed - Note 7 Real Life Review

OMG! Kim K posted another selfie with tons of cleavage! Rate this thread to express how quickly apps launch on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. A higher rating indicates that even the most intensive apps launch quickly and without hesitation, even if they are no longer in RAM.

Lots of laggy UI elements and animations. Wont notice too much but is a valid concern for the future and longevity of the device, especially considering the price of the phone.

I simply turn animations to 0.5 ... been doing this on my phones for years not just on the Note 7. It cuts the chance some animation will stutter. I don't find the Note 7 stutters anymore than the S7's I've messed with but maybe. IDK. I do know that lots fancy animations at 1.0 or higher don't really add much so why not reduce them?

I have Exynos and it doesn't have lag at all. Try turn the animations off.

Launch speed is very good.
I shouldn't have been so easily led here though just cos kim K had posted more cleavage.
I'd rate it 8.5/10. It is even faster with it in the ram already.
It is a beautiful phone btw. It has a 76.1% body to screen ratio. Love it.
It is not the fastest on the market
Even some phones wich I had like they had 4 cores but strong 4 cores are faster
But I am not complaining.. I just want to warn you..it is fast enough..
And for some of you..it will even be faster then your old phone...couse you did an upgrade of old phone
For me..
I have had some expensive flagships.. and know how fast it can be sometimes..
But then
This is a medium avarage phone..so not a flagship so not too fast..
But it is a premium feel very good phone..very very good
I have always this WoW effect looking at it

I love this phone! Other than the lack of notice by everyone on how badass this device is. The specs are great, the performance is UNBELIEVABLE!!, honestly this phone rivals my Nexus 6 for speed, snappiness, ability to run multiple memory intensive apps, and display quality. I straight LOVE this phone cones

I agree. I played around with a Note 8, iPhone 8, and some other phones while waiting at a T-Mo store to get my new sim, and even after playing around with all those which cost upwards of $1000, when I first used the E4 Plus I couldn't believe how similar they are. I have no complaints for the Moto. Especially battery life. I would choose this phone over any other that are out there right now. Excellent phone, and that's not including the price. $800 less than a "flagship" with near same performance? Sign me up!
This phone is great, It's plastic so the trim won't get all wonky when I bend the phone. The operating system is easy to use. The battery is the king of phone batteries. The camera is good enough for me. I thought it would be slower than my Asus Zenfone 3 zoom, but the performance is similar, the most I use the phone is Pokemon Go.

Screen refresh rate?

What's the screen refresh rate of Galaxy Note 10/10+?

It's 60Hz
Very disappointing, Samsung make the 90hz screen used in the OnePlus 7 Pro but don't use it on their flagship.
Shame... Shame... Shame...

Not worth it. Normal phone activities you can't tell a difference. It's a gimmick for the most part

Every single review (user, YouTube video and tech site) I have seen disagrees with you... Even the Pixel 4 is said to have a 90hz screen.
There's only one reason not to offer it ... GREED. They wanted a few $$ extra profit using an inferior screen.

Its a battery killer and you'll only really notice it when scrolling, I've not seen a YouTube video where they said it improved game/video performance. That being said it would still have been a nice option to have even if you turned it off

I don't use 90Hz on my 7P, since endurance isn't a strong suit of the device. We need larger batteries or graphene cells before features like that become viable.

I dont know if you actually seen any proper reviews of the op7p or just spewing the same bs as every reviewer.
Yes, 90hz is a huge deal and makes everything noticably smoother. But the op7p screen is mediocre at best in everything else. Check out the displaymate note10+ review, it literally broke 13 records, 1300+ nit peak brightness, practically perfect color accuracy etc. The note 10+ screen is superior in every single way but one-refresh rate. Its not at all an inferior screen, quite the opposite actually.
I see people bashing Samsung and stating how better the OnePlus display is. I don't know If people realize that Samsung is the manufacturer of the Oneplus Amoled displays. I firmly believed that Samsung got good reasons to not use a 90hz refresh rate display on their flagships this year. One of the main reasons is battery life.

60 Hz in the Note 10/10+..
90 Hz does impact on batterylife, hence an optional 90 Hz RR could have been great, especially when the price of the plus is god damn high in many countries.
It is difficult to believe it as a fact that a manufactuer does not provide a good feature just for an honest good reason.
Did Samsung remove the heart rate sensor for a good reason ?
Apple does not provide a dongle or a fast charger for a good reason ?
Did OnePlus stop providing the converter in the box for a good reason?
Yes, for a "different good reason" for sure.
Once the 90Hz refresh rate is experienced in the UI, it spoils and difficult to go back to a lower RR - this is undoubtedly true.
When a phone is released as a flagship certain features are expected. Nokia, with their Pureview crazy camera phone made the mistake of using last gen SoC and performance suffered as a result.
The Galaxy S10 range were released with UFS 2.1 when 3 was available and the Pixel 3 had huge bezels that wasted space.
The bar has been raised and companies need to step up, 90hz is now the minimum for any flagship. If battery life is an issue then a bigger battery is needed.
From what I read, once you go 90hz you can't go back to 60hz, that's a big, bold statement!
I don't do blind brand loyalty, they have to work for my hard earned

Have you experienced 90 hz on a smartphone yet? Everybody said once you experience 90hz and UFS 3.0 you can't go back. Well they were wrong. The oneplus 7 pro has both and it wasn't that impressive. UFS 3.0 is a bigger deal then screen refresh to me but neither are "you can't go back" to the prior thats for sure. Still rocking an S10+ that is "old". Note 10+ should be close to perfection besides hole punch in middle

I did, ofcourse with the oneplus 7 pro. The experience of 90 Hz UI transition is buttery smooth and that's immediately noticeable. I do not like the OnePlus 7 Pro for various other reasons, but credit goes where it's due.
2ndly, I do not know who said once UFS 3.0 is used one cannot go back , I've not read anywhere any such thing or personally did not feel something like that, but then to have UFS 3.0 is just better.
I don't mind not having a higher refresh out of the box, but I do wonder if isn't it doable thru editing some settings files?
Maybe our screen handles it?

I love my S20U no matter what they said.
The only things that still bother me to this day are the price, the focusing issue in low-light (with the telephoto sensor and with the main camera, shooting closely to the object), the lack of 90 hz option, the palm rejection feature, and the dull colour options.
I love my S20 Plus 5G. Coming from S8 Plus, s20 is a logical "evolution". Pretty similar but better in many small things.
Coming from a S9+ I feel that the S20 Ultra is not worth the asking price.
The camera might be better on paper but picture quality (panoramas in particular) and perception of performance (Chrome tends to hang for a few seconds every now and then) are a downgrade.
The big screen is nice and having an optical zoom is a decent add-on as well, but these aren't features unique to this phone.
When taking into account that this is the very high end offering of Samsung, I am left to wonder whether I should have skipped this year's phones.
Camera software needs sorting to sharpen pictures but otherwise a great phone
Had the phone for about a month and I absolutely love everything about my S20 ultra except for focus on the main lens.
The phone camera is horrible. My 7 year old phone takes better pictures. I have not seen an update that improves the quality. Unfortunately, it degrades the phone to the level of a 10 year old phone or possibly the level of the first phone that came out with a camera, however many years ago was that. I bought it for the memory and additional application processing capacity but little did I know it does not come with a camera, the one installed is worthless.
What about the S20 Plus? I read Ultra was the one to have focus issues.
It absolutely does and it is useless as a camera.

Focus issues were with the ultra; my s20+ has perfect focus and takes great pics.
Before the A12 OneUI 4 update, I actually hated this phone because of the barrage of issues I had with it on A11, especially battery life and camera performance. Now with A12, I like this phone more than I did when I initially bought it. I like watching movies on my phone, and A12 added a new feature where you can watch AV1 encoded videos, which is really nice! Overall, this phone is great besides battery life if you're a heavy user.

Question P20 Pro upgrade? Was thinking Pixel 7 but now not sure..

With the Pixel 7 potentially using the older A76 core architecture instead of the more efficient A78s has me looking at different devices. I'm upgrading from a Huawei P20 Pro that has been fantastic for battery life and a good camera https://tutuapp.uno/ ]https://vidmate.cool/.
Any recommendations for a upgrade? I don't require a flagship but open to that option. My main criteria is a 6-6.4" screen.
Note 10+, 60hz AMOLED but it exceeds probably all the new variable refresh rate displays in color and gamma accuracy. It's a gorgeous display. Up to 1tb of fast V30 rated expandable storage. Bt Spen. It's a beast and a solid workhorse that runs like a bat out of hell. Newer phones are only marginally faster for most tasks.
New and used are available.

Agreed: go Sammy or or a Chinese mark with highest specs, not a Pixel. If you're concerned with minutiae in benchmarks, etc.then you know you won't be happy when you get it.
Pixel is more about the Google experience which is extremely comfortable and something fans rely on.
Personally, I wouldn't touch a Samsung or latest-spec-Chinese-brand with a ten foot pole because their speed, rich screens, etc don't mean anything to me for my tasks that I rely on and their UI and UX is extremely annoying to the point that they become literally unusuable and I end up selling or returning them sometimes within 1 day.
So, yeah, stick with what you know makes you happy and don't change.

I don't recommend the newer Samsung's. The Note 9 is noticeably slower than the N10+.
All Samsung's should be optimized for best results. One UI is fast, stable and very customizable stock, one of Samsung's hallmarks. They can be a handful until you understand them... which takes time. Of course there's iPhone on the other extreme but you may die of boredom and the one size fits all blandness...
I've heard good things so far about the Motorola 30 Edge Ultra (reviews should be coming out pretty soon). It's £750 in UK which looks really good value for 200mp main camera phone and Snapdragon processor gen 1
