I've used straight talk for my S2, S4, and now my Note 5. With all previous phones I had no issues attaching, sending a picture with a text. So far I've had two APN settings that work with everything, except pictures attached to text will never send.
On second note...all previous phones, and versions of Android OS, have always done this...when you attach a picture, it will say preparing for multimedia (assuming it shrinks pic),attaches, and sends.
My Note 5 does say anything, just immediately attaches, and fails to send under both 5.1.1, and 6.0.1

I've read some posts on here concerning a problem with MMS on tmobile. Is this a widespread issue or a few select people who aren't too familiar with specific APN settings and such? I have the GN in my shopping cart and am ready to buy but this is a huge issue for me as I need MMS to be functional. Can people with the GN on tmobile shed some light on this?
Thank you!
I have no problem with MMS on t-mobile. I didn't touch any of the apn settings.

well first off theres a couple issues.
first is MMS not working, the fix for this is just to put in the APN settings and your good to go.
The second and much more serious issue, is getting MMS pictures that are INSANELY small. something like 125pixels. Right now, there are a couple fixes going around, one that forces you to use goSMS, and a couple rom fixes.
but for now those are the only ways to fix it if you have that issue. I do and mike from android revolution rom has said he'll include the fix in his next release, which i really hope he does. i don't rely on MMS that much, but i do need to actually be able to see the messages i get.

Yeah, I presently use the Go SMS fix, which doesn't require root. However, I have already unlocked the bootloader and may be looking to root in the future. Are there any ROMs that allow you to change the User Agent for both the stock MMS app and for the stock web browser? That would be great.

you do need root to do this, but looks like it fixes the issue. and it is the ICS app so it's the same as stock.
I receive MMS just fine on T-Mobile. Is this issue random? Just curious, as I've had no problems so far.

I see. I'm sorry for those of you having the problem. I've had MMS problems in the past (not with this phone) and it was very annoying.
Any idea why some are affected and others aren't? Could it have anything to do w/ the SIM card (i.e., are people having problems using older SIMs)?
I remember reading about this in the HTC Desire section and the general consensus is that this is an issue affecting phones not supplied or T mobile branded. I had the same issue with Orange UK after I debranded my Desire.

Im on T-Mobile and experiencing this problem as well. Im not a fan of rooting or flashing ROMs so I chose the goSMS work around. This seems to only work sometimes as well. Email works also but you have to tell all your friends to email you instead of text which is annoying. Hopefully in the future Android can fix this and also allow group messaging that works with iPhones. Its my biggest gripe about Android.
Is the problem with sending mms, receiving mms, or both? And does it matter which carrier you're sending to or receiving from?

Good question. For me, while I havent tested it a bunch, is usually with receiving picture messages. The carriers they come from don't seem to matter, however, there seem to be issues with receiving iPhone picture messages. So far the goSMS app is the only messaging service that works most of the time. I dont like using goSMS at all but it'll do until a better fix comes about down the road.
I copied this exactly from how he wrote it, and it worked.
link
Download Go SMS Pro from the market.
Open Go SMS Pro and go to that app's Settings>Advanced>MMS Settings and change this:
User Agent: NexusOne ( SGH-T989 also works )
Put a check mark by 'Preserve image resolution.'
Next, go to the Go SMS Pro's Settings>Advanced>Important Tips and put a check mark by 'Stock SMS Uninstalled.'
After that, go to the Galaxy Nexus' APN settings (Settings>More...>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names) and make sure they say this:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>

MMS Proxy: <Not set>
MMS Port: <Not set>
MCC: 310

APN Type: <Not set>
Send an MMS to yourself to test it out. After you send a pic, you should then receive two versions, a high-res pic and a lo-res pic. If you successfully receive both the high and lo-res pics, you may now go to the Galaxy Nexus' Settings>Apps>Messaging and disable the stock messaging app. You should now only receive a high res pic when you send yourself an MMS and when others send you an MMS.
I found that you must wait until the very last step to disable the stock messaging app in the GN's settings for this to work. Feel free to give this a try and post here if this works out for you guys.
Oh hell yeah!!! Found a fix for it (handcent users only)

I have the same issues on CM 10.1 nightly.
If it's not ROM-dependent, perhaps it's a network issue?
I certainly haven't noticed any problems up here in Canada...
I know this has been discussed in the past, but my phone won't dl group messages, or pictures without a lot of coaxing and after a few attempts at manual downloading.
Same goes for outbound mms.

Your APN settings are just fine. If you are able to get it to work some of the time it honestly sounds like some kind of network issue to me. Try mms port 8080 as well now that I think about it. It can't hurt.

Try from APN screen press menu and select reset to default. Then try. If working great. If not now try to config the apn and try again.
You could also try doing two seperate apns. For first one enter all settings except MSC ,MMS proxy and port. Enter those in a separate APN and under APN type enter MMS. Save and reboot.

You won't need to put two ports. 8080 is the whole number. It's 4 digits instead of two, there is no comma. That's a more secure mms port anyway. It could work for you. This mostly sounds like network though.

Hey guys, been trying to solve this problem for over a week now.

But I cannot receive MMS messages.

Unfortunately none of these are able to let me receive mms messages.

I say "on their end" because after dealing with it for a month (calling Straight Talk and spending hours with different Reps, pouring over internet forums) I renewed my service for another 30 days and the issue was resolved...magically.
In regards to APN settings are you making sure to delete all existing APNs before starting a completely new one?

Yea I have done that many times. Also tried 5 different roms, the same result however.
You renewed using the same sim card or got a new one? maybe its the actual sim card number that is bugged on their end and I need to get a new one and a new number?

Believe me bro, I'm Soooo happy for you!!
I remember going through it and it was a Royal pain in the ass.
The reality is, when Straight Talk works property, it's the best out there (in my opinion anyway).

I cant get MMS. I had a month in reserve. After it was applied I still cannot get MMS. It was working on my full size sim card. I wish I had just cut it down to fit into my new phone instead of porting my number to a new small sim. They just say to me they cannot guarantee MMS. I told them i can Guarantee I will leave them if they don't fix it.
My mms is finally fixed. I can now receive MMS. I called them repeatedly for a month. Finally one guy finally offered to repush through the updates that they do when you change SIM cards. And that is what fixed it on my net 10 line.
On my other phone which was not able to send MMS on straight talk they offered me no such thing even after I asked for it. Of course they had me double check the APN settings. And lo and behold I had the setting inputted incorrectly. It was hard to catch this mistake because I had HTTPS instead of just HTTP I removed the s and now it is working fine.

I have a moto g with a Straight Talk at&t sim, and I had tried everything to get mms incoming working.
Finally I had them send me another sim card for a different problem.
The Original Sim card had a part number of TF64PSIMC4MB and was a micro sim.
The replacement was a TF64PSIMC4BMB and was a sim or microsim.
I switched over to the new sim, powered off the phone, and installed, and then started getting mms without changing any settings.
I'm using the tfdata settings from the straightalk site.
So it's a problem on their end, not on the phone most of the time.
I recommend asking for a replacement sim card if you can't get mms incoming working.
So, I found that if you remove port 80 from the APN...
Name: straight talk
APN: tfdata

MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com

... you get a better download speed. I was limited to less than 5Mbps on LTE with the port set to 80. I deleted that, and get a consistent speed of around 20-25Mbps. (Note: This applies to a SIM unlocked ATT hTC One X+, no idea if this works for a Galaxy Nexus)
Try adjusting your APN settings, first before this.
I had problems with my Nexus 5 not sending MMS messages and it turned out the pictures were just to big. I downloaded an app called Go SMS Pro (it's free) and it automatically re-sizes it, and it fixed the issue.

I'm a newbie and messed around with mine and now I no longer have internet, mine said 311 and 480, I'm on straight talk.
I just got this phone and signed up for StraightTalk, so got a brand new sim card.
It's been over a week, and I still can't get MMS working.
I can send pictures to other Android phones, but not iphones. I can't receive pictures or group texts from anyone.
When someone sends me a pic or group text, I get an error message saying to check my APN settings (using Chomp. Stock just shows a 'downloading' button').
I've checked and triple checked the APN settings and am using the ones ST said to use:
APN: tfdata
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http : //mms-tf.net (no space but wasn't allowed to post the 'link')
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN Type: default,mms,supl
I have rooted, and flashed both CyanogenMod and currently on Carbon Rom. It's never worked, even on the stock rom.
I've been on help chat with straight talk 3 times at least. They are telling me it is the programming on my phone that is causing the problem.
Is this possible? That the programming on the phone is bad? That doesn't make sense to me.
They also suggested testing my sim card in another phone, but I don't know anyone that has an unlocked phone to test it in.
Does no one else use straight talk with this phone?
I have an LG G2 which I have rooted and GSM unlocked to work on Straight Talk. I'm running the stock ROM and the APN settings have been modified to allow for mobile data. However, whatever I do I simply can't seem to get MMS messages to send or receive.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I also have GSM LG G2 running a custom ROM and with Straight Talk.
My recommendations are to double check the APN, make a call so they can give you the right one because in some web pages isn't wrong, also check the SMS app that you're using, in some apps you may need to configure the APN again.
