Hello,
I'm experiencing problems with my Note4.
It doesn't happen every time, and it's very annoying because it happens every 2-3 times.
When I'm connected to WiFi network, and when I leave coverage area my device doesn't connect to 4G automatically?
Sometimes when I leave coverage area it connects immediately but most of the time it doesn't.
I connect it back to 4G just by making a phone call, but I just click on any number I click CALL and END after 1 seconds.
So it doesn't even rings, or anything, just a 1 seconds duration and it connects to 4G?
What could be the issue?
I tried with Smart network switch OFF and ON, same thing.
Android version :
5.1.1.
Kernel:
3.10.40.-5613584
Model:
SM-N910A
Phone is completely stock.
Thanks

I am on straight talk and a few months ago my phone started automatically trying to switch preferred network mode from GSM/WCDMA (auto or preferred) to LTE/GSM/WCDMA every five minutes on the dot. I assume this is because straight talk now uses the LTE network as well. When my WIFI is off, the phone connects to LTE within a second or two and stops switching the preferred network. At that point, everything is fine, and the phone does what it's supposed to, seamlessly switching between LTE, HSPA+ and 3G depending on what signal is strongest.
Here's where it gets weird. If my wifi is on, then I cannot choose LTE/GSM/WCDMA as my preferred network. The phone however keeps automatically trying to switch to it every five minutes. It switches up from GSM/WCDMA preferred or auto (which are the only two i can manually choose) to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, at which point the phone doesn't get ANY signal, including cellular reception (I know because I've tried calling myself from another phone and it goes straight to voicemail). It stays there for about 30 seconds with no reception before finally giving up and reverting back to GSM/WCDMA. The signal comes back and everything is fine for five minutes, and then it automatically tries to switch up again and i lose service again for another 30 seconds. When I restart my phone, the preferred network always starts out on GSM/WCDMA auto and then starts automatically trying to switch up. It's just that if i have wifi turned off, it connects to LTE and everything's fine and if i have wifi on it does the whole cycle i described no matter what.
The only strange workaround that I've found is that if i wait for it to cycle twice while on wifi, losing reception and then reverting to 'GSM/WCDMA auto' and getting it back, i can then toggle the LTE button in the power menu twice and it stops trying to change preferred network. That only works until the next reboot, and of course means i never have LTE. It's very strange. I've tried different ROMS and different modems and it's always the same except that sometimes a different modem will change the interval between the preferred network automatically trying to change. Also it happens when the wifi is turned on, whether or not i'm actually connected to a wifi signal.
Sorry for the essay, just wanted to be thorough, as i've been searching for a long time and find many similar threads, but nothing quite describing my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just got a note 3 for tmo, currently my device is unrooted and fully stock. I noticed that my wifi being on, it works great but cell signal is near gone...sometimes even wont let a text get sent. as soon as i turn off wifi cell signal is perfect same as on my note 2 or that G2 i got rid of.
i noticed the following....
Wifi signal switching feature on or off, cell signal still is gone.
Wifi on, wifi calling on or off signal still suffers, in fact i even disabled wifi calling from the application manager for now. (never did like wifi calling)
Wifi on, make a phone call signal still stays low.
Wifi off, cell signal strong
Wifi off, make a call all is even better.
So, whats the deal? is there a fix? A search only came up with a thread about turning off the wifi switching thing in advanced features, but like i said it dont matter or work. any other search talks about wifi and it dropping and or about wifi calling dropping calls....
edit, i looked in the system setting, and noticed that the signal in my house right now says -90. turn wifi on, network says unknown from LTE, and sits at -90.
turn wifi off, network says LTE and signal still stayed at -90 (it did change a little but stayed at average of -90)
it seems as if the signal bars just dont show up with wifi on. like it cant walk and chew gum at the same time (cant show wifi bars and cellular signal bars at the same time)
what threw me off was when i couldnt send a text until i turned wifi off.
i also disabled wifi calling from my account level as well. didnt change anything.
do these phones need the sim that came in then box? my sim came from a note 2.
It is odd, but I have the same behavior. When I'm on WiFi, I have no bars for my mobile signal despite there being no change in the signal related parts of About Device->Status
So, no real answer, but you're not the only one seeing this.
Turn on Wi-Fi calling. Make a call to ur vm. End call. Go to setting click Wi-Fi calling and then connection preference. Then click prefer cell network. Wait 5 seconds then shut off Wi-Fi calling. Should be fixed
TWEAKED 2.0 NOTE 3
I have no idea why, but this worked. I already had the 'Prefer mobile network' option set and Wi-Fi calling disabled, but this little dance corrected the problem. Thanks for the tip!

(well in the past it was) thanks! now i can actually use wifi!
I called someone the other day i had wifi on, and the person couldnt hear me half the time. next phone call was wifi off and everything worked perfectly. very odd bug, im shocked that it hasnt been corrected yet.

Only default text app (Hangouts or any from the Play Store can't) can send MMS and SMS through WIFI.
UK model D855 with 4.4.2 v10h.
I notice that Wifi keeps getting disconnected when on a (3G?) call. I get notifications that the wireless is not responding, I get dropped to 3g data which works ok, but also sometimes it works absolutely fine and wifi stays active.
Any ideas on a) is it just me and b) troubleshooting tips if it is?
Addendum: when not on a call I have a 5x5 wifi signal. It also happens at home and at work on different wifi networks (Asus vs Cisco enterprise).

I have the Wi-Fi drop issues on my G3 as well. But sometimes, when I turn WiFi Off, and back on again, it just forgets every network that I was ever connected to. LG Does not know how to fix this problem, and resetting the phone does not seem to help either. Maybe it'll be fixed in a software update.
Not sure what settings to tweak on my home router, but I have tried many different option on Asus AC68U router. The problem happens on my home router mostly and my work wifi works just fine.
My phone shows that Wifi calling is active on the notification bar, but as soon as I dial a number and hit talk, it acts as if it is connecting and then wifi calling suddenly becomes unavailable and dialing is stopped. I then pickup 0-1 bar of cell tower signal.
I then have to wait about 2-3 minutes for wifi calling to auto reconnect and becomes active on the status bar. If I dial a number again immediately, it works great this time around. If I let it sit idle for some time, the problem happens again.
Something seems to be making wifi calling timeout(?) but phone thinks it is still connected. If I do the dialing as soon as Wifi calling becomes active it works great (probably not timed out or something at that time).
I am rooted but on stock sprint rom.
Anybody else have similar wifi calling issues? If so, did you have to setup your router different?
Hello guys!
Here is the deal. I hope somebody is able to help me. I have a galaxy s6 920p with the ramified ROM (OH1 version on OI1 band) that works perfectly except for this weird issue. So, i am in Peru and i unlocked my phone, it works perfectly with my local carrier on LTE or 3G depending on the coverage EXCEPT when i connect to a wireless network(WIFI), if i do so my LTE 3G icon will dissapear as expected and be replaced with the WIFI bars and i would then be on Wifi internet which is fine. The problem comes when i move away from wifi signal or turn off the WIFI myself, the signal bar will remain full and i can make and receive calls normally but there will be a "!" sign next to it indicating that the mobile data is not working, the only way to fix this is by either rebooting the phone or setting it to flight mode for around 10 seconds and then bringing it back to normal, which makes my mobile data start working normally until the next time i turn on the WIFI. I have also noticed that my APN gets unticked everytime i connect to WIFI, regardless of this sometimes (i would say 30%) if i turn off the wifi the 3g/lte connection will resume normally. I am a pilot and sometimes i keep my phone without airplane mode, in the air i lose signal but as soon as i regain ground i recover my lte/3g, so this also indicates me that is not something related to the reconnection of signal itself but something regarding the WIFI. I hope you guys have any clue of what is going on here because it is really annoying and i haven't found any info about this. TY in advance!!!!
