How does it compare to devices like SGS2 (witch I consider poor in this aspect)?
Can someone test it with Wifi Analyzer?
Seems great on 2.4ghz. Disappointing on 5GHz.
Anyone here uses 5ghz band on their home wifi network? I currently use it but the signal is so bad. Say i'm 6-7 feet away from the router, i run wifi analyzer on my GN2 to check 5ghz signal strength, and it sits at -70 to -80 db. Now if I go to my room signal drops tremendously and then it disconnects from wifi.
I initially thought maybe my router, which is a netgear WDNR4000, has issues. But after comparing the signal strength my laptop gets, i determined my router is perfectly fine. I ran inSSIDer to check signal strength on wifi.
Anyway, if you happen to be using 5ghz band, can you let me know how good/bad your signal is? If it's bad, what did you do to improve it?
I have 5ghz and 2.5ghz support on my wireless router. on my pc at home i always get 100% signal on the 2.5ghz, whereas I get around 75%-80% on 5ghz channel.
i believe that the 5ghz signal degrades more rapidly with distance, it's nothing really to do with the phone.
So based from what you are saying, this is normal for 5ghz signal? I guess my laptop uses more power or has better wifi card which is why it has stronger 5ghz signal.

I'm inclined to agree with this all my devices with 5ghz see this drop off quicker than 2.5ghz

It's a known fact the 5ghz does have better speeds but lacks distance and penetration compared to 2.5ghz.

Your laptop has a larger antenna in it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note II.
I've had the phone for about 10 days and I've consistently noticed that my G3 has a much weaker wifi signal than other phones, both at work and at home. At my house about 5 feet away from the router it was registering 1 bar on the 5Ghz network and about 2 or 3 bars on the 2.4 Ghz. Being that close to the router it should be full! The 5Ghz also has problems staying connected. At work where I used to have full bars with my GS4 and other phones and now I only get 1 or 2. While I haven't had the same problem as others with wifi dropping, it is rather annoying that the signal is so much weaker and I have noticed that with the reduced signal strength my connections are slower. I really hope its a software issue and not hardware related. I'm seriously thinking about going to T-Mobile and asking them to look into it.
The wifi my zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) does not work well when the frequency of 2.4GHz
Everything is good, the wifi signal is strong and stable when I change the frequency to 5GHz
But when I leave in the 2.4GHZ frequency of the signal it is estremamente weak and begins to fall, disconnect, because the signal was weak.
What might be happening?
This phone has so many issues, but this is a new one. sometimes other things running at 2.4GHZ can interfere with the signal. If I were you, i'd just stay with the 5GHZ because it's better anyway.
5GHz is better agree, but not every place has this frequency.
I wish I could use 2.4GHZ when necessary.
Any suggestions how to solve this problem?
Are these antennas?
Use this app and see if there is interference from another wifi or device. I was having this problem at work connecting to a router that was on the same channel as the wifi that bridges the buildings, changed the channel and now it connects much faster.

Hello There
I have been using the G7 for two days but here is the problem.
it connects to 2.4Ghz networks fine but the range is very limited when I move to another room wifi reception decreases a lot. However my wife`s S9+ and my oneplus 6 works fine.
Main problem is when I connect to 5Ghz network it starts disconnecting and reception is even worse than 2.4Ghz still S9 and Oneplus is connects fine at 5Ghz
I tried to change thE 5ghz channels on the router but no luck and I exclude the WIFI from battery saving apps still didn`t work.
I have to use 2.4Ghz and the reception is not as good as other phones
Any recommendations?
Thank you
