Besides pressing the Install software button, which will delete all content, is there anything else it can be done?

most likely not, data is lost. but the wdrt should be able to recover
i assume you bootet it manually into blink/flashmode,selected my device doesnt get recognized and chosed the 550? thats the right way to recover it
if even the blink/flash modus doenst work its not bricked then its physically defect cause that flashmodus part is located in a place of storage which isnt and cant be touched by any update

Yes, otherwise it's not detected. When powered on, the phone displays the Microsoft text, the logo and then the screen goes black.

It's not my phone and I was waiting for some other suggestions. It's still under warranty and the owner might want to take it to an authorized service. It strange because the phone was not messed with, likely wasn't even connected to the Internet when it stopped working.

either the os itself ****ed up or its damaged
but the internal data is lost. no way to get them. just use the wdrt. you wont risk the warranty with reflashing it with the wdrt and if the device itself is not damaged it will work like it did before. if the wdrt isnt able to recover it -> rma it

I've got a little more info: the phone was running 10.0.10586.420 (version taken from Microsoft account - Devices) and crashed while starting the camera. It has been succesfully restored with WDRT to 10.0.10586.107 then OTA upgraded to 10.0.10586.545. For now, it looks good.

why was it stuck in 420 at all? that version is ooooooooooooooooold and should have got 494 and 545 in the last weeks.
and good that it worked (expected nothing else), and its normal that it flashed the .107. MS doesnt build images for every cumulative update (or lets say they never done it only for the 950 devices which were released with the .0 got updated images for the 107. maybe the 550 too? dunno if it was released that early together with the 950 devices)

Some people actually use their phones to make phone calls and don't care for 1 hour OTA update every three weeks. Besides, it’s good to be able to call 911/112 if an emergency occurs and not wait for Microsoft to finish installing bloatware. Personally, I still use an eight-year-old Symbian phone which never fails me. My Lumia is just for fun, not like a real phone.

sure, thats why those updates autodownload and prepare and get itself installed in the night when you sleep
just wanted to say with that: something was borked with the os, cause it hasnt itself updated to newer versions (or was never connected to wifi in the last two months...)

It's possible that it hadn't connected to wifi, it had a data plan. But what if the problem was caused by a failed update? Just starting the camera app doesn't break all hell loose on the OS, doesn't it?

Well you are obviously in a bad position here and you are probably the only one who can help.
Reflashing Wp8.1 would be a great start. Don't fiddle with these kind of things if you are not ready to face the consequences if things go wrong.

I suspect there is only on your phone's firmware(8.1 update).
I need to test it on your phone by at&t.

if you restart the phone at least once, it will continually reboot in the future, if you do not, under any circumstances, do not reboot, the phone will not reboot, the keyboard and do not understand the problem. I know that because instagram keyboard disappeared.
Guys maybe you know from my signature that I get htc 8x interop unlocked . I'm working on w10m for this phone .
Random reboot yes it takes exactly 6 minutes and some times 11 minutes to reboot .
But you know if you do hard reset and never reboot your phone you won't have any reboot problems . As a short term fix please do not reboot your device after HR . I'm working on it .

It suppose to be a prototype/lab-only device with only 4GB of RAM ( picture when it still alive from last owner)
Matte-black back make this phone more and more awesome so i decided to buy it & try to unbrick it
but got no luck, the problem is the device is not be reconigzed by my PC - windows 7 64bit- that should be works fine.
tried every driver from this thread, still no luck :https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-3.452634/
when i hold volume + and stick usb cable
only this for a few second, then no device in device manager
once it appear as QHSUSB_BULK, then disappear
last owner said : he is on stock mashmallow oxygen rom, install this rom without any problems :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...device-development/rom-freedomos-1-0-t3409348
but got bootloop when install a nougat-based freedom OS ,( it changed the boot splash )
it will boot a few second then shut down
My current is : only boot a few seconds then shut down,no custom recovery, can enter fastboot but no adb/fastboot with pc, bootloader unlocked.
That's all i can do now, ran out of idea, should it be a hardware issue ? ( ex : bad usb C connectors inside phone itself? )
.
Anyone have ideas ? Please help me, rescue this beautiful phone
Thanks all.

Use the unbrick guide and tool
Considering that is factory/lab experimental device, i don't think you should flash a production build made for 6GB ram version. If you hadn't created a nandroid backup of the ROM your device came with, you are pretty much screwed.
Also, why in the world would you spend money on a experimental device when you know there will be no support whatsoever.

Does it have any recovery at all? Stock OOS recovery? If so, you could try flashing stock OOS 3.x, which should work if it Freedom OS worked on Marshmallow.

Hmm, if the decision was based on purely aesthetics and looks, i still don't understand why would he attempt to flash the production software on this version. Anyways, i hope a more technically advanced user would be able to help. My knowledge is really limited when it comes to bricked phones.
well my opinion is if it was an experimental model that was released to a very few. then that guy must have been part of the technical crew or software programming crew. so if he messed it up and cant fix it....hmmm i am starting to become worried here
Seem i'm lucky
My friend at local mobilephone store save it!!!
i will take it tomorrow & buy him a beer
He success enter 9008 after a week trying & unbrick it.
Maybe i must make a backup first before get drunk lol

Completely turn off Reset protection

Hi,
is there any possibility to completely turn off or delete Reset protection? After installing Reset protection I'm not able to downgrade L930 (RM-1045) to WP8.1. It bricks phone with "ERROR: Unable to find bootable option"... Temporary I'm able to use phone with leaked 10240 ROM for L930 (RM-1087). But I will go back to official rom WP or WM.
Thanks.

next time try read warning before do something. enabling phone encryption + reset protection results with bricked phone... for now, your phone is paper weight now
Wtf.. I know warnings etc... I'm asking you for help not for empty words... Phone is working ok using leaked ROM. I'm just trying recover phone to official state.
In addition in all warnings is declared "turn off reset protection before WDRT" which doesn't work for me...
So is a chance to flash wm10 ffu to my bricked 530 ?

and again you not read. or not understand what "paperweight" mean?
for now, who bricked phone with encryption and reset protection dont have any solution to restore phone... sorry for be rude but sometimes truth hurt...
I didn't turned encryption ON. Only Reset protection.
With term paperweight I understand totaly unusable device... I don't need to hear how stupid am I... I know... I just want to discuss this problem...
discussed many times in original topic. say goodbye to phone for now... if WDRT not helps, no other solution...
Phone works ok with Chinese ROM. Updates work, LTE is enabled with registry hack... There is only few differences in system...
Isn't possible reflash boatloader, firmware, etc.? Where is stored "Reset protection"?
A full flash update will flash the bootloader, but reset protection may use variables stored in RPMB.
Format RPMB
"One or more operating systems may include a replay protected memory block (RPMB). The RPMB may include, as examples, a bitlocker key, virtual smartcard key, app store certificates, DRM keys and corporate certificates. Such information may be protected from other operating systems."
How?

How
One fast idea... What about do WDRT and then make offline update using IUTool? Is IUTool able to make update when phone is in download mode or something?
I think iutool use IPoverTCP. So no.
I don't get it... on the leaked ROM, can't you disable Reset protection, and then roll back? Is it still asking for the recovery key, I thought it should not...
Exactly... Reset protection and Encryption is turned off but after WDRT (original ROM) it won't boot with "Unable to find bootable option"....
Oh ****... Really? So you forgot to disable it on Windows 10, wanted to reset, went back to 8.1 where it failed to boot, then upgraded to Chinese FFU and disabled it there, then back to 8.1 and still not working? wtf... Or am I getting it wrong?
Exactly as you say
Holly crap, I am ****ed then. I enabled it on my phone as well a few minutes ago... So turning it off is not enough? Then I'd better reset to find it out, better sooner than later... I am in a dilemma at the moment...
If WDRT to your phone not providing WP8.1 update 2 or W10M I recommend you to not do WDRT... You can do only hard reset...

One plus 5t root issue on new phone that son has buggered up!

Hello, my 17 year old got the new one plus 5t yesterday,
He rooted the phone but then realised he couldn’t use certain apps with it rooted, so he uninstalled magisk
He rebooted the phone but it only went into custom recovery and wouldn’t load an OS
Because that didn’t work, he tried flashing an OTA update.
Now his phone is stuck on an upside down screen and a fuzzy section on it.
I know ZERO about android phones.
Should I wait for the support to open at one plus? Or is there something I can do to fix this?

You should let him experiment again, this time with some more reading here on the forum before though. He can learn a great deal about how different systems are built and the working parts of them.
And mostly since it's really fun, these days its really hard, close to impossible to mess up the phone bad.

I'm also in that opinion. He should be allowed to root again.
I may have an idea why this happened: Instead of an Oneplus 5T Firmware, he may have flashed a Oneplus 5 Firmware..
you mentioned an upside down turned Screen... well, the normal oneplus 5 had their Display assembled upside down and oneplus thought it would Fixing it by turn the Display Output by 180° by Software configuration. Your son should be Aware of that Oneplus 5 and 5T are different devices.
First step is using fastboot adb tool to flash some custom recovery first such as twrp,then download the latest oxygen system from oneplus official website(should be about 1.6gb) flash it inside and reboot. U will get a official system with official recovery set everything up. Then flash the custom recovery again and flash custom kernals such as bluespark or franco. goto the google pay or other root blocked app to set up everything.
Now you can flash the magisk to get root and activate magisk hide immediately right after u reboot. Remenber to tick the apps you need to hide the root for.
Wish u success:good:

Mi 9 SE bricked after successful MIUI 11 Update

Hello everybody!
I have a problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. This is what happened:
Few days ago I updated to MIUI 11. Everything seemed to run smoothly.
2 days ago I noticed a huge battery drain during the day. I finished my day with my battery @ 10/1% with my usual daily use.
Yesterday I was using my phone normally while it was charging (watching a video on Youtube). The phone became unresponsive to everything: the touchscreen was not working, the buttons on the right were not working.
I decided to "hard-reboot" my phone. I pressed the on/off button for a few seconds.
The screen turned off.
From this point on, my phone was completely bricked. It does not turn on in any way possible: I tried also pressing the on/off button + volume up or down but nothing. Nothing happens even connecting it again to the power cord.
I tried connecting my phone to the PC via USB and this is what my PC recognized:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But my phone still remains bricked/with its screen black.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this or at least recover my data in some way?
I suspect some bug related to battery mgmt in the MIUI 11 and I personally do not suggest you to update to it right now.
Thank you very much in advance!
You're on edl mode. I've been there. Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn't allow us to recover our phones on edl mode, which is a shame. So, there are two options:
1 - Send it to the seller and try a fix/replacement.
2 - Pay someone with edl authorization to unbrick your phone.
If you want, I'll give you the contact of the person who did that for me. But I had unlocked the bootloader and flashed several ROMS. I bricked the phone trying to restore a full backup. Your case is different and, for what you described, you may be experiencing hardware problems, so I would go for option one.

Thank you very much for your reply! I really feel disappointed because I never messed up with my phone. I always used official releases. Since I bought it in Italy and now I'm far away from my country, I would go for option 2. Do you know if it is possible at least to recover my photos? Honestly that's the most important thing for me right now and unfortunately I forgot to enable the backup (my bad!).
We can speak in private if you prefer, send me a message with the details of the person that helped you.
Thanks!

Just to update everyone on the status: my phone is still bricked. I contacted the guy suggested by elpaablo but he just suggests to re-flash my phone while I want to recover my data first. I will leave my phone in the closet for 1/2 weeks and then try again to turn it on because I read on other threads that this worked for other people.
I will update this thread later on. I want to highlight again that I did not do anything weird with my Mi 9 SE: no twrp, no custom rom, no weird flashing, nothing. I just updated successfully my phone to the global stable using the official update menu in the settings.
Use your warranty. Your phone should be replaced. As for your photos, didn't you use some kind of backup, like google photos?
