Guys need some advice from you Remix OS experts:
I just bought the new Ugoos AM1 android box which has specs almost similar to Unuiga S905 (listed in Jide.com). I have flashed ROMs in phones which would require a recovery that supports it.
I am not sure of the process with these android boxes. How will I go about it? In regards to his I have two questions:
1. Please point me to a thread that can help me step by step to flash the Remix OS, what is the recovery procedure etc., Fortunately this box comes with an option to root if required.
2. Secondly, say I want to go back to the ROM how it shipped with? how do we do this? The official ROM is available from their website just like any other android boxes.
3. For example, the remix ROMs available in the supported devices section at Jide.com - how will the user flash these, (this could cover my question above about recovery etc.,) in that case how do they get back to the official one that came with the device (this is again a repetition of my second question) but in simple terms when you flash back the OEM ROM is there a process that skips flashing via recovery and flash directly via SD card?
4. Or we just simply download the rom and flash using the option under settings to update ROM - we have options to do OTA flash (online update) or download the ROM and update manually. But this is for the OEM ROM. These options come with the box. Will this work if we flash a different ROM? and how do we flash it back to OEM in that case, I guess this is where recovery might come in!?
thanks and looking forward for your help as I can test it on my device.

Hi Guys,
I am back with another thread for people who want to downgrade their Android ROM for different reasons from any higher android version, like some of you getting problem with new O.S, some of you might not like the new O.S and as in my case my new o.s marshmallow got crashed/currupted.
As in my case when my new updated O.S 6.0 Marshmallow got crashed, then no way was left to me but to reinstall 6.0 M on my phone, but as stock ROM of marshmalow for HTC Desire 816 dual sim A5_dwg indian version was not available on any portal online, so i need to rollback to any lower version android like kitkat or lollipop.
As you guys must know that if your phone is running on higher android O.S then it doesn't matter whether its corrupted or showing errors, you can't rollback/downgrade to any lower version android.
For finding way to get out of this problem, i am sharing some steps which i followed to rollback my phone to lower android version.
Step 1: First of all please make ready your computer by installing ADB drivers, fastboot utility and drivers for your phone.
Step 2: As i have already made clear that you can't roll back to lower android version from higher one so for doing that you need to unlock your phone's bootloader , ROOT your phone by following this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775801 and install any custom recovery available like CWM or TWRP, i personally prefer TWRP.
IMPORTANT Note: For users who have rooted and un-rooted their phones in past, updated stock ROM to any new stock version and already having Unlock_code.bin file on their e-mail, don't try to use that file now again for unlocking your phones bootloader as it will not work, you need regenerate that unlock_code.bin file from HTC website because with updated stock ROM, code for unlocking bootloader also changes.
Step 3: Once you are done with Rooting and installing custom recovery and Super user app. now it's time to install any custom ROM like cynogenmod or any other custom rom available for you phone. For downloading and installing CM 13 follow links given https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=a5dwg
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_a5dwg
Step 4: Once you are done with installing custom ROM CM 13 on your phone now you can start procedure to Un-Root your phone, install stock recovery and flash any lower android version stock ROM on your phone.
for unrooting and rolling back to stock rom you can follow my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help/how-to-unroot-roll-to-stock-htc-desire-t3487894
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help/guide-how-to-flash-stock-recovery-ruu-t3308502
Wollah....... you are now ready with lower android version ROM on your phone and now you can update your phone O.S with OTA updates released by your phones manufacturer.
Hello everybody!
I am fairly new to the modding world of android, all I know is that you need an unlocked bootloader to install a custom recovery to then root or install a custom rom. I have a specific set of questions to upgrading my phone software (Lenovo P2a42 on android 7.0):
1) Do you do anything after waiting for 14 days on the OEM unlock screen? Does it auto reset the phone, will a pop up appear, etc? Does it automatically unlock the bootloader or do I need to do adb fastboot oem unlock to finalize unlock?
2) Is there a complete all-in-one guide to installing a custom rom (bootloader unlock, TWRP, flashing, dealing with problems (encryption, fingerprint, wifi, safetynet, etc), etc) from scratch (stock rom)?
3) Is there a way I can back everything up (and recover of course, stock image and recovery, and anything else I might need to go back to factory defaults) in case I screw anything up?
4) What is the least buggiest / most popular / most supported android pie rom available for my phone (Lenovo P2a42)?
5) Anything I should know before proceeding? For example, I know it voids warranty and official support, potentially loosing google playstore, but is there anything else I should know?
I might require further assistance, as I have absolutely no experience. But hey, I gotta start somewhere right?
Thank you for your time.
1.on day 14 the option to unlock is shown in the settings menu.
2. I used this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/lenovo-p2-root-tool-t3800838
3.TWRP has a backup option in the Recovery menu.
Read the TWRP threads to understand better.
4.for me I like 8.1
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v5-4-t3774641
But am currently using 9.0

5.anything else to know?
Just make sure you read the thread for whichever ROM you use.
And then enjoy

The 8.1 rom you provided is AOSPExtended, is there a 9.0 version of it for the P2a42?
Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone! Some time ago I rooted my phone + used custom Leedroid ROM. Unfortunately I forgot how did I do that and right now I am expiriencing some problems with my phone. I would love to update my phone. I am considering to change the ROM too. Right now my phone uses android 7.0 so i would like to update that. I have the TWRP recovery installed but probably outdated version.
Could anyone help me please to get through this without my phone getting messed up? I am little bit lost in these kernel, ROM and recovery words.
I can provide any information required about the phone.
Don't open questions in the rom development section, has nothing to do here.
1) update TWRP (plenty of tutorials on how to do this)
2) download ROM of choice
3) flash the ROM in TWRP
Edit: answers in your other thread.
Hey guys it's been a long time since I've done anything rather than run the stock os so im a bit out of practice...
This is the version I am looking to install:
ROM][SM-P605][9.0] Unofficial LineageOS 16.0 for lt03lte
It states: "-Be sure you are on 5.1.1 Bootloader and Modem (Flash 5.1.1 firmware via Odin) !"
And I am not sure how to confirm this...
If anyone could give me a hand I have attached "screenshots" of the about page.
Thanks
Jonathan
I have found a couple ways to verify this. First you can root your device and install Root Checker Pro (and maybe others). There is a tab in RCP that is called build info and it has the bootloader listed.
You second option is to install a terminal application and run the command getprop ro.bootloader and you will see your versions listed as well. Please note you must make sure you use the right ROM for your system. For example the version 9 you linked above will not work on my tablet due to my CPU.
In my case the boot version is P600UEUC0B1.
I flashed this version 7.1 ROM and use it on my Galaxy Note 2014 Edition (The Exynos processor) but it requires a 5.1.1 boot loader (per the page) and my version works but it is not LL.

You can look at this post to try and download the bootloader. I had issues with the link to get the file and used another forum post to download it. This post has the version as P600XXUDPL1 once updated but this will not install on my device.

My steps
I rooted my device (used the proper tools, set USB debugging, etc... per the root method I used)
I installed the recovery manager (TWRP in my case)
Went through the process to update my bootloader per the ODIN link above
Factory Reset my device
Booted into recovery
Used the ADB sideload to get the ROM on my device
Used ADB sideload to install Google apps
Set up device
Installed SPenCommand to get my pen functions back (may be other options out there)
Hello guys,
I recently bought a used OnePlus 7T, with the goal in mind, to try to install Ubuntu Touch on it. There were some tries to do this in the past, there is posts on the forums here where a 7 Pro was successfully running UT.
Now while I am a software developer, I am a total beginner regarding 1) UT porting 2) Android in general. I have never used an Android device, and I am unfamiliar with the OS and all related terminology. The latter seems to give me some headaches at the moment, so I would like to ask you guys for some starting help.
When I received the phone it was running OOS 11, and I downgraded to OOS 10 as described here after I unlocked the boot loader and also installed TWRP (I think this was not needed yet, but well ...). And I think I didnt pay enough attention to it, since now it does not seem to be the EU version anymore; the about page tells me: "10.3.1.HD65AA", which I think means global? Does it have any impact on the functionality of the phone? Can I switch back to EU version? If so, how? Should I pick a EU-zip from here and flash it again?
Now since I was trying to downgrade even further to android 9 (in order to begin with the Ubuntu Touch related stuff), I tried to find a ZIP containing the OOS 9 downgrade, but I could find none. The closest which I found was this. However when I place the downloaded ZIP in the root folder ("OnePlus 7T" is the root folder? E.g. the one where I see subfolders like ".OTA", "SysQS", "TWRP"?), the system update will not pick it up in the local upgrade menu. It just doesn't find it. I already renamend it from .jar to .zip, but still it does not work. This makes me believe I downloaded the wrong ZIP.
Long story short, can someone help me to achieve the following:
1) Switch back to EU version
2) Downgrade to OOS 9
And I have some general questions:
1) TWRP is a tool which is installed on the recovery partition of the phone, and it can be booted into to install various things. It would for example allow to install a different Android version, as alternative to system -> software update -> gears -> local. Is that a correct summary? For which step would I actually need TWRP during the a) the downgrade process from 11 -> 9 and b) porting to UT?
2) Does the phone need to be rooted during the downgrade process, or when porting to UT?
3) What are the two slots which are shown in TWRP? Are those 2 partitions on the internal storage?
4) How many partitions (in the regular PC sense of partitions of a hard disk) does the phone have? 2? One for recovery, and one for the operating system? In the UBPorts docs I read that the vendor blobs reside on a separate partition since Android 9, so there must be at least 3 partitions on the phone? How do I make sure that I don't accidentially write e.g. on the vendor blobs partition? I guess that `fastboot flash recovery twrp.img` means that the *recovery* partition should be flashed, right?
I think thats it for now. Sorry for the wall of text, but its just so much information for a beginner, and its a bit overwhelming. But I want to get into it bit by bit, and maybe in the end contribute to the device porting, in case I manage to do it.
I don't think there is oos9 for op7t
Nope, came with oos10
