Has anyone realised how lacklustre Snapchat performs on the OnePlus 3? The video quality seems to be much more garbled compared to other phones and the app performance itself (especially when recording video) is appalling. I'm talking intolerable lag too.
Anyone else?

Not now, but I did experience this once on my OnePlus 3 and Xperia Z1. But that's to be expected: the CEO is a self-confessed Apple fanboy, and it shows. On IOS, it's a much more polished experience than on Android. Absolutely no reason for it, and if anything, our device should outperform the IPhone with Snapchat. Instead, Snapchat wrecked havoc on my Xperia Z1 and heated my OnePlus 3, along with having crap video compression, a memory leak that slowed my Xperia Z1 to a crawl, and is just so much more resource-intensive than it needs to be. Aggravating nonsense.
My advice: uninstall, reboot, re-install, and hope the lag is gone. If you're on Systemless Xposed, disable it and when you pass the Snapchat verification test (like WTF, really??), remount Xposed. I've done that and the problem seemed to go away...for now.

It's genuinely annoying I guess, I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling but does no one have these issues on Snapchat? They seemed to have surfaced after the 3.2.2 update for me

the playmemories app keeps crashing on me, sony needs to update it for kitkat i think
Thanks. Can you use it the native camera app for those lenses?
I have used it on nexus 4, and it works flawlessly. No idea why won't it work for nexus 5. But yeah, may be it won't be compatible for kitkat. When Z,Z1 get's kitkat's update, probably it will work after that. They won't just update it's compatibility for nexus 5.
should try camear360 out
apparently you can use the camera 360 app to access the sony lens cameras play. google. com/store/apps/details?id=vStudio.Android.Camera360 (sorry, remove space as needed)
curious to see if it is better than the playmemories app (people commented that it had been plague with problems)
Why will you never buy another sony phone?
Let me know if camera 360 work i'm making some video with friends (nothing important, just some funny videos XD). Audio and image sucks...
ot: 3 months without the xperia S for the yellow screen problem...
now my xperia Z has water damage and they don't wanna change it, becuase it's my fault (for them), i should have send it to the assistance for the topping before this appen... And i have used bluetooth SONY SBH20 headset and official docking station for not open and not ruin the topping....
Yeah, my english sucks...
Got the same thing. Tried at my work and play memories keeps indeed crashing...

Heey hello,
Im thinking about buying qx10, but im not sure if i should buy it...
I have nexus 5 with android 4.4.2 so i would like to know how the playmemories works on it.... and if it still crashes (as you gyus mentioned before), and if does, how about camera360 support - is it usable??
thanx for your info
Hi, any updates on QX10 on Nexus5? I am thinking of getting one
I have this combo. Works fine for me on 4.4.4
Can be laggy if you have a number of other apps open though.
Thanks for the reply. How about the image quality compared to the n5?
Oh much better in my opinion. But it isn't a fair comparison.

Hey guys,
Have been longing to upgrade my smartphone gear, current using Live Walkman(2012), and I am petty much acquainted with Sony's devices now. My main criteria is to have low profile screen, ie. 4.5 Inch and lower so had my eyes locked on Z1 Compact, but after seeing few reviews on the tube and checking the troubleshooting section of the forum, I am kinda confused.
I do not wish to wait for newer compacts because that wont just end there and I do not change phones frequently as well, so I expect to use for 2years. So would like to know if there's an alternative to Z1C or just go for it.
PS: Would like to know from the owners of Z1C, does the volume boost really have the impact on the external speaker sound? I do not listen to music on speakers or something but I do want to get alerted, If I'm in "noisy" situation or similar.
Thanks
probably wait for z2 compact or get z2 if there's no z2 compact coming..
z2 is alot better than z1 or z1 compact.. since it fixes alot interms of hardware imperfections and brought some good features as well
@kurikapooh: SpiritBreak3r clearly stated that he doesn't want to wait for newer models and it should not be bigger than 4,5". Did you even read the post?
@SpiritBreak3r: Maybe I can help since I am currently in the same situation. For days I have been looking for compact normal-sized phones. I have/had the following in my selection: Sony Xperia Z1 compact, Moto G, HTC One Mini, HTC One Mini 2, LG G2 Mini. I am 98% percent sure that I will get the Z1 compact. What is important to me: good camera, good battery, small size. In short this is why the other phones were dropped:
HTC One Mini has a really bad camera, and at most average battery
HTC One Mini 2 is too big and has a bad battery (half of use time of the Xperia), also is more expensive than xperia and slower.
LG G2 mini is much slower than xperia and has worse resolution (I think there was something else, but I can't remember right now)
Moto G is too big and the camera is too bad for my requirements.
They also have som advantages over the xperia like for example the HTC minis have very good speakers and have good build quality. The LG G2 is very cheap and has a good camera. The Moto G is very cheap and still good (except the camera).
In the end Xperia has OK speakers, good camera (the flash problem can be fixed), its the smallest phone of them all, its very fast, the battery is good, its waterproof which is a nice gimmick. Also I really want to have slo-mo recording in 120fps which imho needs a good CPU, so again one point for the xperia.

Maybe stupid back-buttons?
And I really don't get why everyone says the Z2 is so much better than the Z1, all it has over the Z1 series is (arguably much) better speakers, better screen (but not over the Compact, Z2 and Z1C are both IPS) and a faster CPU. But hardware-wise it ends there. Certainly not something worth waiting for if you're after the Compact version of the Z2. I personally find the Z1 series more comfortable to hold than the Z2 series as well.
@SpiritBreak3r I am running CyanogenMod and the speaker is pretty loud, but I know for a fact that it goes way louder on stock Sony ROMs if you use the audio boost features. What is it you are confused about?

Are you using a snapshot or did I miss a stable release? Also does cyanogenmod offer the software stabilization during video recording of the original ROM?
I just went ahead and purchased the Z1 compact today. Loving this phone already, but I was quite used to cynogenmod's features, like "Right top corner swipe brings the quick settings". Only disappointing were the speaker.
I got by default 4.4.2/.757 Build, so planning to root it right away and unlock the bootloader so I get the speaker's boosted up. Did anyone get the boost working on the .757 build?

CyanogenMod doesn't do stable releases, 10.1 was the last, the closest you'll come these days is the M-snapshots. I am running nightlies though. Don't know about the stabilisation.

Could you make a video on the phone and check if the image is shaking or not. You can see the difference in these videos:
with software stabilization on Xperia Z1 compact
without stabilization filmed on a Nexus 5.

Yeah, I rooted and unlocked the bootloader and flashed the volume boost zip for the compact located on the list here. It really gives the sound a good boost so it's well recommended.
Does anyone experience a glitch when you're listening to the music and you make a call, and when it resumes the, Sound seems to be in "Mono" stream?
I tried poweramp and Walkman app, and face this issue and it is quite disturbing having the music switch to mono output.
I'm thinking of buying a 32gb G3 but I really don't like slowdowns, lag, stutter or whatever. What is your experience with the G3 updated to Lollipop ? The same laggy experience ? Speaking about frame rate in heavy graphics games, opening/closing/switching apps, scrolling things, in fact the general 'responsiveness' ?
What about a rooted G3, with Cyangonmod. Any difference in performance ?
Or should I better look at the G2(rooted to kill bloatware) / S5 / Xperia Z2 / Oneplus one ?
I wouldn't say it's laggy but no matter what rom i use wether cyanogen or stock it's still not as fast as my friends stock one plus one
With cyanogenmod based roms the g3 is amazing. Not lag
plz update to last version 20i not lag
The stock LG firmware is prone to slight lag and animation stuttering, though it opens, closes and runs tasks quite well. It appears to improve as LG roll the updates, and there is a promise of a fresh new UI coming with the G4, but it's still not good enough for a flagship phone.
Now, the moment you run CM12, RR or any other AOSP based rom the phone performs as it's supposed to. Animations are perfectly fluid, everything just flies. It literally feels like a hardware upgrade.
The phone is really great, I wouldn't consider any other 5.5 screen (or up) because of the size of the devices. LG made something special here, though It's a bit sad that they haven't figured out the software side of things just yet, but we have hopes things are going for the better.

I can't say about the laser focus because last I heard someone confirmed it's working. There is loss in quality for low light photos, but bright photos are as good as stock. Also there is no 4K recording yet.
Camera was never my thing though, so I didn't give it a proper test run.
Thanks for the answers. I'll have to choose between the S5 and the G3. The Xperia Z2 and OPO were also options, but these are just too big. And most likely the OP2 will be bigger. Let's see which of them gets cheaper quicker...
While I have experiencing this A LOT of times:

I also did a recent discovery today: The Moto X Play its faster when it comes to take pictures, also a lot faster than the N5X with HDR enable in both phones.
Im really, both amazed and disappointed by this. I switched from a Moto X Play to the N5X to find only lags and slow performance.
Anyone else have experienced something like this? Is this a general problem or my device could be defective?

And yes, while the Nexus 5X it's faster, the Moto X Play it's more stable.

How often do you need to take HDR pictures and do you really need to press the shutter every second? If you know how to selectively expose a scene properly then HDR is not needed at all. While NX5 takes excellent pictures, I only use it when extremely needed. A dedicated camera especially ones with WIFI connectivity for direct upload to social networking sites is far better than any camera phone out there.
You're experiencing lags and freezes. Serious ones too! Mine for a little slow after the April MHC19Q update. So I wiped it and it was much better after a factory reset. I also go to developer mode and turn down all three animations to to 0 and enable force GPU rendering.

Well, the problem is that it slow and freeze with only 3 or 5 HDR pictures, is not that many. And the Moto X Play, even the Nexus 4 can handle more than that. The video I uploaded was even before I take any picture, I just opened the camera app.
I blame the encryption since it doesn’t make any sense that those smartphones can handle that process faster.
About “A dedicated camera especially ones with WIFI connectivity for direct upload to social networking sites is far better than any camera phone out there.” I have used my cousin S7 Edge and its impressive fast for pictures, and with the N5X and S7 with raw support, I believe we should be able to handle without the need for a dedicated camera.
I already sent my N5X back in hope to receive a new device, maybe there was something wrong with the internal storage read/writes.

Mine was already reset to factory settings for the 3th time, so I gave up and sent it today for replacement. I don't think this is the kind of device that need the animations to be disabled, my gf Moto X Play doesn't need that, even the Nexus 4 im using right now doesn’t need that.

I just wanted to say that I sent my Nexus 5X back to LG for repairs, following own Nexus Forum recommendation:
https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/nexus/sFmrWiceXf4/bAEAdlO_BwAJ
But I got back my phone in this state:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u...s5x_lg_warranty/photo_2016-08-23_17-24-10.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u...s5x_lg_warranty/photo_2016-08-23_17-24-15.jpg
Also I need to say that they sent me back my phone without the box, charger, original cable and everything else inside the box.
Since the phone wasn’t rooted and was still encrypted it was a nightmare to get it working by my own, but I finally managed to install a custom recovery and from there do a clean install, but to find the LG sent my my phone without the SIM tray.
I had to buy a new charger, cable and sim tray, but I have the phone working now.
If I use the stock rom or CyanogenMod rom I still get the same exact problem in my video, but with Dirty Unicorns seems that the problem its gone for good, so i still believe its a software problem, but as long I stick to DU i should not have problems anymore :good:
As OnePlus is a smaller company, it's understandable that they may not have the resources to fix all of the bugs, release security updates and work on the Android Nougat update all at the same time.
If you could ask One Plus to concentrate on 1 thing, what would it be?
For me this is easy. Video stabilization is broke at the moment.
Once they fix this, the Android N update would be nice.
For me. I think videos stabilization is acceptable honestly speaking its not that bad. We can co-op with it as being an average user. And for those of them who wants best in class video quality you better invest in something way better as the camera on oneplus is far better then the competition. And there's practically no drawbacks at all, imo. Speaking of which you won't get better than this in just a budget of Rs. 28k or $400. As the given market standard you have to spend almost double for samsung Sony and triple for the apple devices. So taking the compatibility and user experience in consideration. I think i can pick a oneplus 3 on any day. So in my opinion. OnePlus for the given moment should only concentrate on the nougat update. So that oneplus's flagship get some reputation of providing good and fast updates as doing so will enhance the market reputation and add another reason to get oneplus 3 asap. As if they provide an update within this quarter they will have a hefty amount of time to concentrate the video stabilization. As it is usable but there's nothing better than the best. ?

Front Camera quality, it just sucks. You go to a zone with a bit of a low light and the noise is unacceptable. OPO's front cam was miles better than this crap.
Faster WiFi chipsets , or nougat 7.1

Better digitizer glass
Camera , image quality and UI interface is really lousy. I always accidentally switch photo mode to video mode when try to zoom in or zoom out .

I would ask for a stock camera app that all Roms could use.
Better camera than iPhone and Pixel
No doubt.........Android 7 update. Everything else in this phone is ok according to its price.
Rom flashing to be a lot safer & easy. Not like now, Twrp or firmware needs to be reinstal almost on every time you flash a new rom.
Better LTE, phone signal, camera.
Fix not users issue :highfive: like stabilization
I would love to see improvement of built in apps like gallery, music, shelf, launcher, camera, clock and enabling FM radio. More tweaks and cool useful features.
I.e: alarm clock that plays your favourit FM radio instead of tone / editing a ringtone in music app...

A well built Android 7 would be great.
As the author of this poll I'm surprised by the results. In other places, there are people that moan that the OP3 is a buggy unsupported mess.
By most users opting for the N update, it proves the device is generally solid and the issues are the minority not the majority of users.

Why?
I don't really care about V7. I'm more concerned about them screwing up Oxygen OS by making it into Hydrogen OS.
Software wise i just want regular security updates and big fixes. Once they have that down they can worry about messing up the UI and adding useless features.
Pipedream, replace your stock recovery with twrp and stop making me reinstall it after updates.
On the hardware front I just want an SD card. I don't need it obviously but I would prefer it.
