Also after retrying the method I noticed that to access these settings in under mobile networks you MUST BE IN GLOBAL MODE
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
4G LTE sticks in that mode, but you switched to CDMA, that means you can't make any phone calls anymore. So not really a fix. I switch to this mode sometimes when I will be surfing for an hour or more (e.g. on the bus) and want to have max speed, but then you need make sure to switch back or I won't receive phone calls.
Yeah noticed this pretty quick lol I was upset about that

I want to force my EVO to run on 1x ONLY. I'm using a sense ROM so maybe there's something in EPST to do it?

So you want to make it force roam? Or just turn 3g off?

I'm curious about the advantages of running at 1x...

I don't want to roam. I want to stop it from running on 3g and run strictly on 1x.
Explanation: My phone is flashed to PagePlus. When connected to EVDO/3g data doesn't work. Data only works on 1x.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I would like to know how to do this simply that 3G probably uses more battery than 1x.
Tasker can't really help because that's all settings enabled. maybe someone has an way?
There are settings where you can change it, but they took it out of the menu after android 1.5. There is an app called 2G/3G CDMA Network, but it only works on froyo, not gingerbread. I haven't found a way to do that on gingerbread yet.
You might want to try to PM a developer.
try setting evdo in epst (##3282#) to cdma only.

Thanks guys! Both QPST and EPST are working solutions I've found. Looks like my 3g problem is because QPST fails to write the a-keys. (I'm running my evo on page plus) Being that I only get 500MB of data it's not a big deal. And yes, 1x uses less battery than 3g too.

Hi,
Recently my 3G simply dropped out. I have no idea how it did, however I have not been able to fix it.
After trying to reset the APN settings, change the preferred network type and to reset the radio. No luck.
the H+ / 3G icon just does not appear. Calls and texts still work.
Any other ideas?

try to change to 2G network and see. if "E"-edge appears then problem is with your network. Also just check if you have "Data Enabled" in case you have forgotten to turn it on
I called Verizon about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus not roaming on us cellular towers. They told me it should roam, but all I get is 1x 3g and no data. I'm in a area with to no coverage. The Verizon tech told me my phone should roam. A theory was because my phone was lte with a sim card and it wasn't compatible with us cellular towers and wouldn't work on my phone.
My question is, is my phone broken or is my theory correct?

Sorry I should have included that. Me and the Verizon tech went through all the checking the roaming and setting the device to cdma only and roaming as automatic. I just noticed that in the about phone section it says the network I'm on is extended it means roaming on another tower. In the roaming part it says not roaming so I'm guessing this part is useless. What made me think there was no roaming was because there was no special icon for it. I guess 1x is roaming. The Verizon Tech couldn't tell me the special symbol for roam on my phone. He said it was either a triangle or a R.
Here's what I see to help ya understand me since my explaining is horrid.

I am running my T-Mobile Note 3 on ATT. I have noticed whenever I switch from LTE to 4G that it shows no bars even though I know I actually have 3-4 bars of connectivity. Any ideas as to why this would be? Maybe something in settings?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I have also noticed that whenever I make a phone call, the status bars will switch to showing 4G icon only (from 4G LTE icon) and again show zero bars even though I obviously have a good connection and have no issues with the phone call. It must be some software bug.
This is on a rooted device with stock ROM by the way.

I just got fed up and switched my N900T to GSM mode only when home. More bars ( full ) and better battery life.
Ok I got it figured out. I had a setting checked off on Wanam that I shouldn't have and this was causing no bars to show when on 4G and edge. Unchecking took care of the problem.

A few weeks ago I went overseas on vacation and had no service at all, not even roaming. Only way I had service was when I was at a WiFi hotspot. This is the first time this has happened. Is it the ROM I'm on? Do I have to call Sprint? Some feedback would b help guys, thanks.

That's because you have a CDMA phone and most of the world uses GSM (sim card). Unless you get an international version you are pretty much stuck with no signal overseas.

Had the Samsung Epic when I was overseas and had roaming though. Also have a sim card as well with the phone I'm on now.
